We ordered eggs over medium and they came out over easy and the crepes were not cooked (raw batter inside). I asked for a replacement egg to be cooked over hard. It still came back over easy. I had a good first experience here. I arrived to Safety Harbor from Fort Lauderdale to visit my dad, who lives in a nearby retirement community. We will typically head to Tampa Road for breakfast and lunch, but we both wanted to try something different. Upon arrival and entry, the place was jam-packed, which is a good sign that the locals have embraced this place, which opened recently. An older gentleman greeted us at the door and let us know that it would be a 10 to 15-minute wait. We were seated pretty quickly. I ordered a turkey and ham club sandwich, with fries. Really good. Service was quick, too. My dad ordered an omelette, which he noted was good as well. I'm thinking they must separate the whites, beat them into peaks, and fold back in. And with the omelette comes PANCAKES, genuinely good pancakes. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE: home fries or grits. As good as that is, what prompted this writing is their Chicken Philly. It's a remarkable sandwich-- the best sandwich in at least a 30 Mike radius. It features deliciously marinated white meat, paired with the perfect crusty, heroic hero bun. The mozzarella isn perfectly melted, fusing the seasoned chicken, bun, and peppers into a single delectable Whole. Like the omelette, it's grand. More than I, a hearty eater, can consume in a single setting. Which is fine, because it rehearts well. I would like to start off with a positive note. The food here was great tasting, the food came out fast, and the owner sitting the tables was nice and had a great personality. However I did give this 2 stars because of the waitress. She was very short with us and we felt like we were inconveniencing her just being there. We didn't get any refills for the drinks and had to ask someone else for help. I am a regular at this establishment. Not only that, but when I had friends move in from out of town, our bringing them here made them regulars too! If there is a complaint that could be made about this restaurant on a consistent basis is the service. But, today was an unusually unacceptable situation. It was approximately 10:45 AM on a Sunday and soon after we were sat, the restaurant became very busy. There were four of us and three received their order. There was a significant amount of time before there was an acknowledgement of how long my order was taking. The toast for the three orders came approximately 10 minutes after their food arrived. They gave me my pancake soon after with the claim it had just come off the grill. It obviously hadn't been. My order came approximately 15 minutes after the other orders were delivered to the table. If those at the table weren't being polite, they could have easily finished their food by the time mine arrived. The waitress' offer to try to make things right was to take the coffees off the bill. Only three people were drinking coffee and I was not one of them. We brought the situation to the manager's attention on the way out. His solution was to let him know if something is ever wrong in the future, which was a nice gesture, but a little inadequate in the face of the service received by regular customers. At this point, this will no longer be our "go to" place for breakfast or lunch. We love the food, but unless the restaurant is slow, the service staff consistently seem overwhelmed. ---------------------------------------- I had not been back since this last visit. We decided to give it one more shot today! I'm saddened to report that NOTHING has changed regarding the service! This time, my wife had to wait for her food while the three of us got ours. This angered me more than when it happened to me, as you can imagine! It wasn't as long as my wait, about 5 minutes. But, patrons should not be in the position of wondering if they should wait to eat until the rest of the food comes out! It is a reasonable expectation to have all of the food for the table arrive at the same time! The same manager actually came to the table and joked about it! He says to my wife, "are you always the one whose food always comes late?" I said, "No, that's usually me" in the hope that it might prompt him to remember our last incident! But since this doesn't happen at virtually any other restaurant, apparently it happens at Flapjacks quite often! As a side note, one of our friends clearly asked for proprovolone for her omelette and received cheddar. Since it took so long to get our food in the first place, she decided not to wait to get it made right. The place is always busy, so they obviously don't need our business. This is a review of Flapjacks under new ownership. My mom and I eat there fairly often actually. But today (8/28/21) was to be the last time. We didn't know about the change in ownership but it must have just happened because we were there only a few weeks ago. There were no signs "under new ownership" and nothing looked different. I didn't recognize the waitress, but she was young and seemed a bit nervous so I just figured she was new (to Flapjacks and/or waitressing in general). We were surprised when she said she needed to ask if my mom could get a half-order of the strawberry french toast. My mom told her she's ordered it that way before, but she had to ask anyway. And returned to tell us yes, but there would be an upcharge. More money for less food? We got our food in a reasonable amount of time and it was fine, hence the 2 stars. My mom got her French toast and I had eggs, home fries and toast. Pretty basic breakfast. Never got offered more coffee. When the waitress brought the check she seemed nervous again. We found out why when my mom handed her a credit card. That's when she tells us there are new owners. And the new owners charge customers a fee for paying with a credit card. To the tune of 4%. Oh excuse me, 3.99%. I said that's something customers like to know upfront. I wasn't mad at our poor waitress. But I could tell she was expecting to get yelled at. Probably because she'd gone through the same thing with other customers, some of whom shot the messenger. We paid with cash and left. I looked for any signs posted about the new fee. Didn't see any. New fees with no warning. Not smart. Yeah, merchants pay a fee to be able to run credit cards. That's part of the cost of doing business. Especially in today's world. But 4%? Either they are overpaying for their credit card service or they are padding the fee and passing it on to their customers. Either way it's going to hurt their business. They certainly lost mine. Any place that wants $7 for a mimosa better take credit cards - and have something special on the menu. There's nothing at this place I can't get at a dozen other restaurants in the area. It's a shame, because when the previous owner, Andy, was cooking, their crepes were darn good (I could always tell if he made them himself). But since he's gone anyway, I'll go elsewhere. read more

A unique combo. I ordered a side of sausage (3 links) and coffee. My brother ordered the 2/2/2 combination which included eggs/sausage/blueberry pancakes. The texture of the pancakes was perfect.
