Flatlands Bourbon & Bayou brought Louisiana to our table and we're still talking about it. We started with the catfish nuggets and their legendary BBQ hot sauce. No exaggeration.....it's the best we've ever had. Shonda literally tried to buy some to take home (Flatlands, please start a side hustle). The fried goat cheese with honey? Absolute flavor poetry. He ordered the Catfish Pontchartrain with dirty rice; hearty, flavorful, could've used a little more kick but still a winner. She had the Louisiana Fried Chicken with red beans & rice, Cajun street corn, and sweet potato & brown sugar risotto, a combo so good it deserves its own parade. We wrapped things up with bread pudding and praline-stuffed beignets that should come with a warning label: "May cause happy dancing." Our waitress was top-tier: friendly, funny, and made us feel right at home. The entire place screamed Louisiana and we love the atmosphere. Every bite, every moment? Worth. Every. Dime.

We had a small group at Flatlands and overall the experience was nice. The aesthetic is definitely divey, hole in the wall with a mystic feeling that mildly represents New Orleans. I do think the decor is a bit run down but it can add to the charm. The food was good not great, some parts of my dish were over seasoned and a tad overcooked. The gumbo and scallops were very well liked and the drinks were ok. The service was fast and friendly. I would go back to try a couple other things on the menu for sure. If you are new to Cajun food and love seafood, I recommend giving this spot a try. It is a good value for what you get and many options.

My husband discovered this restaurant while looking for a place to eat lunch, and we decided to stop in for some authentic Cajun food. The service was good and attentive throughout our visit. We started with the alligator bites (not pictured). While they were fresh, we found them a bit dry and lacking in flavor. Fortunately, the trio of sauces served on the side helped liven them up, but I wouldn't order them again. Next, we tried the Oysters Rockefeller, and they were absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Both my husband and I really enjoyed them. For our entrées, my husband had the soft-shell crab po' boy, which he said was excellent and something he would definitely order again. We got the Louisiana Cajun Fried Chicken for our son, though he didn't enjoy it as much as we expected. My husband ended up finishing it at home and liked it, especially the street corn that came with it. I ordered the gumbo, and it was PHENOMENAL. I haven't had gumbo that tasted this authentic in a very long time. I cleaned my bowl and can't wait to go back--I will definitely be ordering that dish again.

Absolutely loved my food and overall experience. This is a pleasant tucked away place with lots of breeze in a hot day. I decided to sit outside because inside the ac felt a little cold (but a reprieve from the 92 degree day. I was immediately say and then shortly after greeted with water. I then was recommended the hurricane which didn't disappoint. I also ordered the chargrilled oysters and may be the best I've had! Lots of flavor! For my entree i had the blackened basket which included a tasty catfish shrimp, dirty rice (spicy and i have a high tolerance some say) and a side of spinach. Everything was delicious and the staff were quick and pleasant.

Kitschy-cool Louisiana vibe with lots o gators around. Tables seemed a bit close together/cramped atmosphere. Tasty food and drinks. Our waiter had also been our waiter at a nearby restaurant at breakfast and his energy and friendliness after such a long day was impressive.

The atmosphere was stunning! A small old house turned into a restaurant. We had a work party of 10 and we sat upstairs in the loft area. We really had the place to ourselves. They were not busy and certainly not crowded. The waiter was good.. attentive and there when we need him. The food was outstanding! Truly heavenly! From the gater bites, to the crab dip, to the catfish nuggets, and the honey goat cheese balls (which were OOOOHHHH MY GODDIE WAY TO HOTTIE!!) the aps rocked! Drinks flowed and fun was being had by all. The entrees were just as outstanding. My seafood risotto was just other worldly. I mean I'd eat this 4 days a week! It was scrumptious! The red fish, pork loin, crawfish, gumbo, and catfish all looked just as stunning and everyone raved about their dishes. I'm telling you the food is outstanding! Then we moved on to desert. Pecan pie with a touch of whisky, bread pudding done expertly, beignets both stuffed and regular... it was all just the fantastic end to a wonderful meal. Then came the bill... after all we ate... and drank... the bill was just over 800... really not bad at all. But then they came and said that the min for a part of ten was 1400... not including tip or tax!!! WTF?!? We were all stuffed and had eaten just about all we could! I mean we ordered 6 aps, entrees for each, 6 deserts, most people drank... but we were 600 short of the ridiculous min! I mean this worked out to 140 per person?!? I have never been to a place that did this... in the beginning they would not budge on the difference. They wanted to charge us an extra 600 on top of the 800+ we had already eaten! after some discussions they finally allowed us to include tip and tax but we were still 400 short. We ended up ordering some Papi at $85 a glass, for a couple of our coworkers, to get us to the needed total but I'm telling you this place blew it. I work for a company that does events all the time... from in location dinners to catered events... what they made us spend that night cost them 100x more in future business. Our last event we planned ran over 3000 at the last place we ate and we do several of those a year! Before all the craziness I was considering coming again with an even bigger group and even having them cater our next event. Not anymore. In fact I won't be back. The food was awesome... service was good and the location stunning... but due to a crazy unrealistic expectation of spend and a very unfortunate rigidity of policy they really lost out on what could have been a huge amount of future business. Very short sited!

The palace pecan beignets are the BEST! I'd drive to Alpharetta from The west side just for them! Everything else pales in comparison. The pecan okd fashioned wasn't the hat I thought it'd be; it was pecan pieces, not whole pecans and trying to get the pieces wasn't easy...the barbecue shrimp tasted more like spiced honey barbecue seasoning, not traditional NOLA barbecued shrimp. They werextra large though. The red b and and rice was ok and was lacking the seasoning of red beans and rice; like they were cooked separately and put together when plated. The andouille sausage was as good. This was the shrimp and andouille sausage meal. It comes with red beans & rice, andouille sausage, &. Barbecue shrimp; a nice sampling of 2"3 dishes. We sat upstairs Saturday afternoon, 2:1 and our server was great. I can't recall her name: the Flatlands salad is delicious. The shrimp are huge! I ordered 2 to go to take to a potluck later. The y initially forgot the avocado, but the server added it. The bacon was delicious in it. Great salad. Order it: My husband ordered the fried seafood basket and enjoyed it . He doesn't like spicy food and had to tequ at the fish grilled because the seasoning for the fried fish was too spicy for him: Great place with many bourdon drinks I hope to make my way through lol: This was my second visit and I will return soon:

Cute NOLA themed spot with delicious food! Location and Parking Located in Alpharetta, Parking is located behind the building in marked spots. The parking is limited and can get busy during peak meal times. Venue and Atmosphere You are truly entering the Flatlands as soon as you pass the pond decked out with Mardi Gras beads and alligator statues, right next to the spacious patio and gazebo. The party continues inside, where every inch of the restaurant reminds you of the lively Bourbon St. Service Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Food and Beverages The hot crab dip and catfish pontchartrain were to die for. Both were seasoned well with just the right amount of heat. The portions are filling without being massive. I was in the mood for a Bloody Mary with my lunch and they did not disappoint. Verdict I'll definitely visit again in the spring, so I can fully enjoy the outside with warm weather.

This a cute restaurant behind some buildings if you blink, you will miss it. They have parking and indoor and outdoor sitting. This place is a hidden gem. The service was good but the food just put an exclamation on the experience. Everything has flavor. The portion sizes were on point, even down to dessert. I was so full by the time I got to dessert but I had to try the bread pudding and glad I did. It was everything sad I could not finish it all. Definitely recommend can't wait to go back.

Flatlands Bourbon and Bayou is a great choice for authentic Cajun food in the greater Atlanta area. From their starters and mains, to their extensive top shelf Bourbon selection, this place is a perfect date night spot is Downtown Alpharetta. The restaurant offers outdoor, bar, as well as upstairs seating. The staff is always around, ready to refill your drink or offer you an order of their famous beignets. On our most recent visit, my husband and I were celebrating our one year anniversary. We both ordered a side salad, shared an order of Alligator Bites, and got a top shelf pour of whiskey to preface our main course. Our main courses were the Blackened Fish Tacos and Cajun Chicken Pasta. The Cajun Chicken Pasta usually comes with Andouille Sausage, but on this occasion I substituted it for spinach, which was super yummy.

The restaurant itself is cute, it was definitely New Orleans vibes. The menu had a lot of great options. I went with the crawfish etouffe which was just spicy no special flavors it was kind of bland. It was a large plate but I couldn't finish it, it was definitely lacking. The Rockefeller oysters however were amazing! This was so flavorful, just perfect. I can eat this every day. The beignets were nice and fluffy and the flavors they had were great. Honestly everything was great except the etouffe. I went a second time because oysters duh lol and had the fried basket. The shrimp and catfish were perfectly fried and tasted fresh and the dirty rice was soooo good. My server both days were attentive and very nice

While in Alpharetta GA last night, looking for something good to EAT, I stumbled upon this gem. Since I was alone I sat at the oba to have dinner. The bartender recommended their Jambalaya. If you do not like spicy food stay away. I love spicy food, and it was delicious. The hostess "Chris" recommended THE BEST ever bread pudding. OMG! It was warm, sweet to perfection, 10 out of 10. Next time I'm in town I will be back to have their catfish meal she recommended. In summary, you cannot miss with this place. Although I did not have an alcoholic drink, their bourbon lineup is extensive. I had sweet tea instead, and it was good. -jambalaya -Sweet Tea -Bread pudding

Had a good experience at this restaurant. We were seated immediately and served quickly. All items came out fairly quickly. Has indoor and outdoor spaces which is always great. Great for families and big groups. Beignets were great and shrimp Po Boy and Gouda Burger were good as well. Great portions provided! Parking is a bit of a challenge since there we shared parking lots with other restaurants near by. They only have brunch on Sundays.

We have visited this location previously and had a great experience with both the service and food, so we were looking forward to returning while visiting the area. When we arrived, we noticed there was a large party being hosted in the private/back party room, which was nice to see that the restaurant is able to accommodate larger gatherings. Our waitress was also very kind, friendly, and attentive, and we appreciated her customer service throughout our visit. There were, however, a few concerns we wanted to bring to management's attention. First, we noticed several desserts sitting off to the side behind us that appeared to be uncovered. We are not sure whether these desserts had been prepared in advance for customers to order, but if that was the case, we strongly recommend that they remain properly covered or protected at all times. With customers and employees walking nearby and insects potentially flying around the restaurant, leaving uncovered desserts exposed does not appear sanitary or appropriate for food service. We also experienced an issue with the temperature of some of our food. Two of our seafood dishes arrived only semi-warm rather than hot and fresh. We ordered the Pappadeaux Platter with stuffed shrimp and fries. Unfortunately, the fries were cold, and the seafood on top was only lukewarm. This was particularly disappointing because we were looking forward to enjoying the seafood while visiting the restaurant. I ordered the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and my entire meal arrived hot. Because my meal was served at the appropriate temperature, we were confused as to why the other dishes were not. We understand that different items may require different preparation times, but customers should receive their complete meals hot and fresh. Our suggestion would be to coordinate the timing of the food preparation, particularly with items such as fries, so that they are prepared as close to serving time as possible. Food should ideally arrive at the table hot and fresh rather than having one component become cold while waiting for the other items to be completed. We did bring the issue to our waitress's attention, and she was very accommodating and provided a $12 credit toward the fries. We appreciated her effort to address the concern. However, the credit did not change the fact that my husband and daughter were unable to fully enjoy their seafood dishes because the food was not served hot. We are sharing this feedback because we have visited this location before and had a great experience, so we know the restaurant is capable of providing excellent food and service. Our goal is simply to bring these concerns to management's attention so they can be reviewed with the appropriate staff. Thank you for taking the time to review our experience. We hope our feedback is helpful and that future visits will provide the quality of food, presentation, sanitation, and service that we experienced during our previous visit.

Big Easy BBQ - Do Not Waste Your Money or Time Eating Here A…read morefew days ago, I watched a well-known BBQ show that offered a simple rule: if there's no smoke coming from a BBQ restaurant, keep driving. Today, I ignored that advice and regretted it. A friend and I decided to try Big Easy BBQ for lunch instead of visiting one of our usual favorites. After reading positive reviews, we drove more than 30 minutes to see what the hype was about. The first warning sign was the nearly empty dining room at lunchtime. The second was the complete lack of that unmistakable BBQ aroma. Despite both red flags, we stayed. My friend ordered the St. Louis ribs with sides, and I ordered the half chicken with two sides. When I noticed he had barely touched his ribs, he handed me a piece to try. The meat was tough, dry, and tasted as though it had been cooked well in advance and reheated. Unfortunately, my chicken was no better. It also seemed old and reheated rather than freshly prepared. For sides, I chose dirty rice and Cajun BBQ beans. Neither tasted particularly fresh. The dirty rice was acceptable at first but quickly lost its appeal, while the beans were merely average. Having lived in New Orleans for five years, I know what good Cajun and BBQ-inspired food should taste like. This wasn't it. The highlights of the meal were my iced tea and my friend's French fries. Service was equally disappointing. The server checked on us only in passing and showed little interest in our experience. When we requested takeout boxes for the food we barely ate, there was no inquiry about why our meals were largely untouched. We both took our leftovers home, though neither of us was enthusiastic about them. The lesson here is simple: online reviews should never outweigh what your eyes, nose, and instincts are telling you. A busy dining room, the smell of smoke, and trusted recommendations are often better indicators than a collection of glowing ratings. As a final note, my friend and I normally pay separately, but I felt responsible for suggesting this restaurant and paid for both meals. If paying for two disappointing lunches taught me anything, it's this: save your time and money, and eat somewhere else.

I had tried a seafood boil from here a while back, and the sauce wasn't as good as what I've had from a local competitor. However, my boyfriend insisted that we give it another try, so we ended up ordering the Kickin Combo #1, along with a dozen raw oysters and an order of fried oysters and fries. The raw oysters came out first. I didn't want any, so they were for my boyfriend. Immediately after trying the first one, he wasn't happy with it. He said it tasted fishy but decided to give another one a try, thinking maybe the first was just a bad one. Unfortunately, the second wasn't any better, so he sent them back. Next came the fried food, which is never a miss. I absolutely love the fried oysters here. Then the seafood boil arrived, and at first glance, it looked promising. The seafood appeared large and fresh. I grabbed a shrimp first, sucked the head, and immediately noticed a strong fishy taste. I then dipped the shrimp into the sauce, but the sauce was watery and lacked flavor. I tried a few of the other items in the boil, including a mussel, but the texture was extremely chewy. Between my boyfriend and me, we ate a total of about ten or less things from the boil before deciding we were done. Unfortunately, it was not good whatsoever, and I was extremely disappointed. I asked if there was anything that could be done, and the manager offered to reheat it. I explained that the temperature wasn't the issue but the fishy taste and the texture of the seafood. He then said there wasn't anything else he could do besides take 20% off the bill. While I appreciated the discount, it was still disappointing given how much of the meal we were unable to eat. The service itself was good, and the ambiance was chill, especially since we went during dinner. Unfortunately, though, the food quality of the seafood boil and raw oysters overshadowed the positives for me. All in all, I won't be returning.
