Oh man. We really wanted to like this place more. Our relatively decent food and beverages were overshadowed by very frustrating service. This place must be so disorganized I'm really not sure they have any system in place for table coverage and food running. We were sat on the patio for happy hour and had to wait nearly 20 minutes to order any food or receive chips. Others got complementary drinks while they waited, we never did. "It's patchy out here on the patio" was the quote we heard regarding the wait to order. No one is designated for outside guests? The inside wasn't even terribly busy.. When we finally did order, our drinks came out wrong and we had to wait 25 minutes for our appetizer. Margaritas were great for their happy hour price, but we wouldn't pay full price for them. No one gave us utensils or plates so we waited another 10 minutes for someone to come around to ask for those. We saw our waitress come out and ignore our table no less than 3 times while she applied lip gloss. We got enchiladas for our entree - another 30 minute wait as we longingly waited to make eye contact with our waitress who would only appear outside every 15-20 minutes so we could ask for more chips/salsa. The enchiladas were fine, not at all worth the price. All told, happy hour is probably the time to come, but make sure it's not busy at all or that you sit very close to the service station or something, otherwise you'll be forgotten. This place wants to be elevated but the service is worse than I've had at Chili's. read more

Came here for dinner in the middle of the week, so we were seated right away. Service was fine. Food was meh and hence the 3 stars. We got the crudo ceviche which I would give 4 stars, pretty good. We got the fajitas and they were ok. Nothing was bad, just underwhelming overall. We had high hopes for Flecha... but living in San Diego, the pricing and flavor here just don't warrant another visit. read more

I've been to this Flecha restaurant a couple of times now, once for dinner and once during their brunch, and though overall it's OK, I do miss the Miguel's Cocina it replaced. The overall cost of all the items is much higher and though the food overall has been good, it hasn't been spectacular to justify the higher costs. An example if the Pork Belly Taco plate that both Miguel's and Flecha have. It may be a matter of personal taste, but I really loved the pork belly on the Miguel's plate much more since the pork fat was rendered down much better and was just the right texture, whereas in the Flecha plate it's not rendered down very much so is not as enjoyable though it's got some good flavor too. The corn tortilla it is on seems home made and was good but fell apart very easily making it a little hard to eat. My wife had the Poblano Chile Enchilada with Lobster and said it too was overall OK, but not that flavorful. The have a nice drink selection including a Guava Margarita which is nice, and the two times we've been they offer a complimentary Mimosa or Margarita at the front desk to have while you are waiting or being seated which is a nice touch. The ambiance is also a little different than most Mexican restaurants. I think they are shooting for a "higher end" feeling, but sometimes seems to come off as "pomp and circumstance" rather than the casual feeling of most Mexican restaurants which may appeal to some but be off putting to others. At least the outside patio that Miguel's had is largely untouched and still a relaxing place to eat on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. read more

You need more bartenders staffed during happy hour. Most especially to entertain the local businesses that come after work. I've come several times since they first opened and the bar staff is always stressed and not servicing customers in time. Please add more bartenders and train them more to watch and service the customers around the bar area. You will get more repeat customers if you fix this problem. read more

Major disappointment the quesadilla turned out to be a cheese with a hint of carne asada quesadilla and soggy! Rice was dry refried beans salty with chunks of unblended beans! Beautiful restaurant in 4S Ranch community. We had reservations for 11:30 on a Saturday and it wasn't busy but by the time we left, the restaurant was pretty full. I appreciated the welcome guava margarita when checking in with the hostess. We ordered the lunch street tacos and vampiro tacos and they were all delicious. The food came out very quick. Really nice, upscale and comfortable place for happy hour and dinner. I sat at the bar with my friend for happy hour and had amazing service from the bartenders. Drinks were well balanced- not too sweet, each one made from scratch- no margarita mix! Food was nice- we took advantage of the happy hour menu. Sampled the complimentary tortilla chips with fresh salsa and queso cheese sauce. Also had a side order of the spicy cheese, and an assortment of the street tacos. We ended up with more food than we could finish! The tacos were a nice variety-- birria, carnitas, chicken, steak.... I would go back just for the tacos. read more

Came here for the first time today. It was the Taco Tuesday menu. The place was very busy; but the service was less than stellar. We had a change of server after we sat down so I think we got "forgotten". Chips and Salsa did not arrive for about fifteen minutes. We ordered the six pack of street tacos and the chicken was the best. Soft and flavorful. I had a spicy strawberry citrus margarita that was incredibly sweet and had no spice to be found. My husband had the Flecha which was also very sweet. Our food came and we had no plates and silverware and had to wait for a server to go by to request them. We shall give it another try another day. The ambiance does not appear to have changed from its days as Miguel's. read more

Flecha opened a new restaurant in San Diego after taking over what used to be a Miguel's at one of my stomping grounds. I had an occasion to dine there once things settled down after their grand opening. The look and feel was slightly changed from the former restaurant, but the menu was a bit different in a lot of ways. My experience was a bit mixed. Upon arrival, I was greeted by very friendly staff along with an offering for a beverage. Very nice touch while trying to establish itself as an elevated Mexican spot in a sea of spots in California. My guest and I dined in the lounge which had the same look and feel with a few changes. Staff there was very attentive as well. We were served with a spiced up white sauce and salsa to accompany tortilla chips. Good taste with both. As mentioned, the menu contained many traditional options with a few items that appeared to be a step up from the traditional Mexican items. A few combinations that were described in detail and one that was my planned order. Unfortunately, upon ordering I learned that the Flecha Combo along with the other combo's were not yet available. I moved to the Pollo Verde which is a go to whenever I dine on Mexican food. The entrée arrived on what seemed like a huge square wood serving board that took up nearly half of my four-top table. The display was interesting, and I suppose it accentuated each of the items that accompanied this meal. Pico, Guacamole, and roasted pepper were served atop a leaf and included a serving of beans and rice. The Pollo Verde was a good serving and was accompanied with several tortillas wrapped in parchment. While the serving instrument was unique, the food was equally unique, but not in a good way. The pollo was plentiful, but the Verde sauce was heavy on the tangy side and not as much on the spicy. The beans had a bit of after taste which was not appealing and the plating instrument was a miss. There was there was very little room on the table to place a drink nearby. My thoughts were that a bigger plate would suffice perfectly and eliminate the empty space between each of the items on my plate. The tortillas served in the parchment caused them to cool after the first one. Overall, okay, but not something I would order again. Being a restaurant located in my circle, I was disappointed mostly by the food. There was such huge fanfare when it opened which built up some anticipation. Unfortunately, the food came up short for me. I good concept to elevate Mexican food to compete against some of other spots that have been super popular. Flecha has potential, but needs to make some refinements before it gets to that level. They have the service and ambience and creativity, but fall a bit short on flavor, in my opinion. I'll have to give Flecha another try, but I'll wait a bit to give them a chance to bring their combinations together and possibly make further refinements to their recipes. read more

Marky Mark's Mexican restaurant took over Miguel's. The restaurant basically looks the same as when it was Miguel's. Fortunately, there are plenty of pros to this new spot. Complimentary welcome cocktail, Taco Tuesday & Happy Hour deals that are a steal & fun vibes. It was packed the both times I came but the service was much quicker during my second visit. The dishes here are pricey, definitely a restaurant meant for 4s Ranch. I probably will not come back unless it is for cocktails or during their deals because the food was just okay. I ordered the Carnitas Flautas & I am used to deep fried flour tortillas but these were corn tortillas. If not, then it was super burnt flour tortillas. Fortunately, their complimentary chips, salsa & cheese were tasty! read more

We went to try out Flecha tonight and it was really disappointing. The only thing that was enjoyable was the chips, salsa and queso. We decided to sit at the bar and get a few drinks and try out a variety of appetizers. I asked for a skinny margarita but asked that they could make it with more lime and not too sweet as I really don't like overly sweet drinks. Typically a skinny margarita shouldn't be that sweet anyways. When I got the drink right away, I realized it had tons of agave in it, and was really sweet. The bartender was very nice and understanding and offered to redo it for us. Hard to believe, but the second skinny margarita was even sweeter than the first. She asked me what I thought and said please honestly let me know what you think so I was honest and told her. She actually made me a third skinny margarita but this time it had the strangest taste. I couldn't really place what they put in there, but it had an after taste of a wintergreen type of flavor. It was so odd. At this point, I felt uncomfortable because she went out of her way to keep redoing them, but somehow they were getting worse. I ended up just asking for some tequila on the rocks. We ordered one of the ceviche's. This is the one that they call Crudo that had yellowtail and scallop. The ceviche tasted very strong and fishy, and it smelled strong and fishy as well. My husband wouldn't even try it and I tried it and was nervous to keep eating it just in case it smelled funny because it was not fresh. We also got the Carnitas floutas. These came out a little warm on the outside and not warm at all on the inside. The flavors were OK, but they were not even close to being hot. The last item we got was the street corn. I was impressed that they cut the kernels off of the corn cob, right where they serve it to you. This would have been tasty, however, they used so much salt that it also was hard to eat. I love really salty foods, but this was just insanely salty. When the bartender who had made me the three skinny margaritas asked how everything else was I couldn't bear to tell her how bad everything really was because I was embarrassed at this point. It was almost comical. So sad because I was really excited for this place and looking forward to trying it. Based on this overall experience, we won't be going back. read more

I really wanted to love Flecha, especially since it's a new establishment in the 4S area, but unfortunately my first visit fell short of expectations. I understand that new restaurants have kinks to work out, but some basics were missed. When a customer is seated, if chips and salsa are standard, they should be brought out promptly. We ordered tableside guacamole, which was prepared without any chips at the table, which felt like an odd oversight. Additionally, we were not offered water initially, and even after requesting it, it never arrived. These may seem like small things, but they are part of the overall dining experience and first impressions matter--especially for a new restaurant. I truly hope Flecha succeeds in 4S, as the area could use more great dining options. With better attention to service basics, this restaurant has potential, but for now, there are definitely a few kinks that need to be perfected. read more

My family had the joy of coming for Flecha's Thanksgiving buffet. The staff was very friendly, attentive, quick, and they communicated well with each other. This contributed to a welcoming atmosphere, along with adults being provided mimosas upon entering (if interested) and they had upbeat music playing. The restaurant was clean, classy, and offered indoor and outdoor seating. I was super impressed by the wide variety of food offered from brunch classics of sausage links, bacon, waffles, coin-sized pancakes, and fresh fruit to Mexican dishes of enchiladas, fajitas, and birria -- plus so much more like baby back ribs, cajun shrimp, and shrimp cocktail. The carving station featured roast beef with au jus that had fresh rosemary, turkey with freshly-made gravy (I could see the bits of turkey in it), and ham. There were nice discs of sweet potatoes too. To help with pickier palates held by our younger family members, they even had tater tots, chicken strips, mac & cheese, and cereal! Beverage-wise in the buffet line, there was lemonade, horchata, jamaica, milk, and chocolate milk and you could order other drinks too. For dessert there was flan, pumpkin pie, apple pie, jello, cookies, and more. Showstoppers were cotton candy spun in front of you, plus the chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows. I have very picky eaters in my household and it was nice to be able to go somewhere that could satisfy everyone! The food tasted great. My favorite was probably the birria - it was moist, tender, and had great flavor. I think that the buffet offered great value for the money given the delicious food, the great service, and positive atmosphere. We look forward to returning! read more

This was a restaurant I was truly looking forward to trying. The hostess were nice and friendly. Served us (party of 4) a delicious peach flavored mimosa style drink and told us we could sit anywhere by the bar. When we sat at a table close to the windows the waitress seamed angry that we asked about happy hour. By snapping at us that 'Yes happy hour is over!' She took our drink order and proceeded to serve the next table before even taking our food order. When we finally got our drink order to us she took our food order and after over 20 minutes we got out food. The chicken enchilada tortilla was under cooked and the rice was also not cooked thru. The food was lukewarm. We then proceeded to wait even longer for utensils that we had to ask 3 people for. All the while our server was taking care of the table next to us as if they were her friends and we were just bothering her. The food was overpriced and not very tasty. The ceviche tasted like it had been sitting for a long time in the refrigerator. We would have been better off going to Jalapeños taco shop. Forget the hype pass on this place. The food and service was better when it was MIGUEL'S!! read more

I checked out 4S Ranch's newest restaurant, Flecha Cantina, a brand developed by actor and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg. It's operating in the space formerly occupied by Miguel's Cocina which unfortunately had a checkered past at this location. This is Flecha's third restaurant, with two other locations operating in Huntington Beach and Las Vegas. I arrived at 3:00 pm and decided to focus my observations solely on Happy Hour. Having visited Miguel's here numerous times before, I recognized upon entering that the bones and layout remained the same, however the big change was the color scheme. All the cheerful reds and oranges were gone, replaced by deep browns and blacks that presented a most brooding vibe. Even the silverware was black! The other thing I noticed right off the bat was the sheer volume of staff working. The hostess station alone had three ladies working the desk. I can't imagine their enormous payroll budget here! It was evident though everyone was aiming to please and make a good first impression. After entering and approaching the hostess station I was offered a complimentary guava margarita! It was a small amount in a champagne glass with no ice, served at room temperature, somewhat sticky on the outside. All these glasses were pre-prepared, sitting in a rather undignified large black plastic bin at the hostess desk. I really like this concept and have experienced it at other nice restaurants. I do think they should put some more thought into how they pull this off though. I mentioned that I was just going to be sitting at the bar and one of the hostess ladies accompanied me with a massive menu in hand. Service so far is making a really good impression. Including the bartender who was nice, thoughtful, and engaging in a balanced way, not over the top. There were at least three manager-looking types working among the teams. Older, well dressed, seemingly in charge. On to the food and drink... Happy Hour is Monday - Friday from 3:00 - 7:00 pm, plus Sunday - Thursday from 9:00 pm - Close. The only HH beer option is the "Domestic Draft Beer Pint" for $6. Your choices are Michelob or Budweiser! Not really a good deal at $6 for those beers. The HH Flecha Marg for $10 was average tasting yet beautifully presented. Next came Chips & Salsa service. First, the salsa looked great! A generous portion accompanied the chips, served in a beautiful dish. While I enjoyed the taste and texture, there was virtually no spice heat to it. They did pull out these bottles of what looked like a habanero sauce to doctor things up a bit. The salsa here is definitely geared for the timid. The chips themselves were terrible. Very institutional tasting, bland and borderline stale. I can get a much better chips & salsa service at On the Border. Next, I ordered the HH "Carnitas Flautas" for $10. Includes salsa quemada, guacamole, Monterey jack & chihuahua cheeses, crema blanca and pickled red onion. At first, I was wondering if they served me the HH Taquitos de Pollo by mistake, but I don't think so. I know flauta literally means "flute", but in the context of San Diego Mexican food, calling these flautas is very misleading. The salsa and crema were artfully drizzled on top, the guacamole was a good amount, but the cheeses were unfortunately indiscernible. Aside from all that, they did taste great! I wouldn't consider two taquitos for $10 a good HH value though, even by todays inflationary standards. Maybe it's all the fussy accoutrements they add, no doubt with culinary tweezers. I do look forward to visiting Flecha again to try some dinner main dishes. I do consider the food experiences I've had so far to be an unfortunate juxtaposition to the gold-plated prices. So they allow us to book a 2:30 reservation for Easter brunch. Upon arrival they tell us there will be a short delay, no problem right? They seat us at 2:35 and about 10 mins later waitress tell us brunch slated to end at 3:pm. About 5 mins later manager comes to explain it will be approx an hour while the close brunch and return to regular menu. Of course I am asking why the schedule a reservation for the 10 of us for brunch if they are unable to accommodate. I get it a holiday and a stress test but none the less a total fail. Horrible inexperienced staff, mediocre food at best, poor communication. Will not return and not even going to mention the price, could have gone to Steak 48. read more

The bowl was excellent and the torta was ok but not so great as it lacked some kick. A little bland. Serving was huge. Prices for lunch items are reasonable and a little high for dinner menu. I booked a 12:45 reservation for my birthday to have brunch. Originally the reservation was for 8, but being that it was also Easter I ended up reducing my party size to 2. Upon checkin, I made the hostess aware of the reduced party size and she said we would be seated shortly. After 30 min of waiting, I went back up to the hostess stand to inquire how much longer the wait would be. The hostess stated we were marked as a "no show" since we never checked in. I reminded her that, she was the one I check in with and informed her of the size reduction. She said "oh yeah, we'll sit you in a couple of minutes". Twenty more minutes went by before I asked to just remove me from the list and decided to leave. Understandably, it was a busy day and she may have been very overwhelmed. It was just a disappointing experience, especially after driving so far out to try it. read more

Came in on a Saturday evening with my mom around 7:30 PM. Hostesses were really nice, greeted us right away and let us know that there's a 40 minute wait for a table, or we can self seat at the bar/upper lounge area. We chose the bar area. The ambiance was pretty nice. Nothing exceptional but the place felt clean and spacious. There were two guys working the bar right in front of us, one had black hair with a trimmed beard and the other guy was shaven with curly black hair. Both of them were a 5/5 with service, and we were grateful with their recommendations. We weren't served with utensils or chips right away. We ordered the ceviche crudo and by the time that arrived we still didn't have utensils or chips. One of the guys at the bar helped us out. We ordered three things: ceviche crudo, seabass, and half a rack of baby back rib plate. The crudo was 5/5. Spicy, tangy and delicious. The seabass was 3/5. The fish felt undercooked and the middle part was noticeably cold. The baby back ribs place was a 3/5 for me. The plate itself was pretty substantial with how much came with it, but lowkey I wouldn't come back for the rib plate. If I wanted that I'll just drive to Phils BBQ lol. Overall decent experience. I'll probably come back to check out the happy hour sometime. read more

The presentation is nice but they don't use real fruit juice (they use juice infused puree/syrup that's store bought) and the food was good but kind of pricey. On the plus side, there's complimentary chips and salsa and cheese dip, servers were fantastic and the restaurant is really pretty. Just a little too pricey for not using super fresh ingredients is my only compliant. read more

So long time San Diego resident here, with fond memories of Miguels which was good and never tried to be what its not. I have tried Flechas twice now. Atrocious service during Happy Hour. My friend and I sat for 30 minutes before we were even acknowledged. So-so food. We has baisic margs so pretty hard to mess those up. Then tried again for their "elevated buffet" brunch. We sat later for brunch, but there were still several hours left for service. Guys, why was there no food? We were sat at a dirty table and again sat for about 20-30 min before we even received silverware. Staff ackknowledged that they were unprepared for the day, stating they were "busier" than expected,, but still charged full price for a buffet with only 1/4 of the options, which were not elevated at all. I would of had better service at the local cantina and better food. Staff is pleasant, but entirely untrained. All this place qualifies as is a poor copy of Miguels at a higher price because of the walburg name. Do yourself a favor. Skip and save your money for one of the local spots that are 1000% better than what you get here. read more

Had lunch with a friend today and lunch wasn't too bad! When you arrive, you are greeted with a sample of their guava margarita, I appreciate and loved it! We ordered 3 shots of titos, 2 guava margaritas with titos, ceviche crudo, beet salad, 3 carne asada tacos and fried ice cream. Our bill ~$165 with tip. Pro's - sample of the guava margarita, they serve Miguel's queso and the flavor of the ceviche. Fried ice cream has a lil flamed presentation. Con's - we asked for the food to be spaced out with the ceviche first then salad and tacos. Unfortunately, everything came out at once so our salad was a bit wilted from all the dressing and our tacos were no longer warm. The fried ice cream wasn't what we expected, they use cereal/ cinnamon crunch toast which was not crispy and stale. We asked to switch out to the churros and they had no issue. The decor looks the same as before. Would have liked an upgrade like the other locations. I'll give Flecha another chance, maybe happy hour will be better. read more

Went here for dinner. 2 stars is for the decor I like the interior design of the restaurant. It feels fresh and trendy I imagine getting drinks there in the evening would be fun. Waitress was so terrible, she ruined our whole experience from start to finish bad service. So bad I regret not talking to a manager. I'm assuming this is her first waitress job so maybe that's why. They should have spent more time training their staff. Too many issues to mention. She was awful. The food: for the most basic fajitas. The beans and rice were so bland I felt like they opened a can of refried beans and served them!And how do you manage to make red rice taste so dry and bland. Corn tortillas suuuucked oh my god, I think they are also store bought?! :( I don't think these ppl make anything from scratch/in house? They put the same green sauce on everything too! I'm honestly so sad because we were looking forward to a restaurant we hadn't been. Management needs to train their staff better. read more

Nice update of the former Miguel's location in 4S Ranch. Friendly service and the welcome margarita upon arrival was great. Food was excellent. Seating was really uncomfortable in one of the booths - would suggest getting a table. Meal pacing was a bit off - we had just received a round of margaritas and chips (that come with queso!) when our entrees came out at the same time. Food and ambiance were very good - but 2 margaritas, fish tacos, and chicken enchiladas (with 20% tip) was $110. Ouch. Won't be a regular spot. read more

We had a GREAT time at Mark Wahlberg's Flecha for one of their family and friends soft opening previews! From our reservation experience with Lizabeth to amazing service from Asia, it was a good time! The interior is warm and welcoming. We had margaritas, pork belly flauta, chili relleno asada, verde chicken enchiladas and thanks to Tom, an AMAZING fried ice cream for dessert! Tom, from Flecha's national training team, really made the experience special and shared what made each dish unique to Flecha! We cannot wait for the grand opening and feel this will quickly become the go-to for happy hour, brunch, you name it. Came here for dinner with my husband and it was a great experience. You're greeted with complimentary margarita when you come in then a basket of chips with salsa and queso when you're seated. The queso was so good. We got HH taquitos to share. I got carne Asada fajita. It was so good. my husband got the chipotle cream enchilada and that sauce was so good. I can drink that sauce, it was sooo good. I recommend this place read more

Even though other reviews warned that Flecha was over priced for what you get, my wife and I tried anyway. Mistake. - waited for service for 10 minutes after being seated. Was not seated with menus, another 10 minutes wait. Had to go and get water from the bar as our waitress was no where in sight. Tequila average, table side guac was good and ceviche (crudo) was fresh but all in all - not worth the cost or the wait. Won't be coming back. Side note. Enough with the branding Mark Wahlberg. Flecha tequila, Flecha seasoning , Flecha sauce. Come on. We get it. This place should have stayed Miguel's. read more

Updated review: My husband and I returned to Flecha to give it another chance since they had just opened the first time we went. This time I must say the service was excellent upon walking in and at the bar. A skinny margarita was absolutely amazing. It was so refreshing.. It's definitely I must try. We ordered the sampler appetizer plate. This was so delicious. The taquitos were cooked so perfectly (just the right amount of crunch with tender delicious chicken inside (most restaurants over-crisp/fry), the quesadilla is like no other restaurant we've tried so far. It was amazing.. The dipping sauces were so flavorful, so delicious. Flecha knocked it out of the park and we will definitely return! read more

Happy this place replaced Miguel's. Menu is better and staff is attentive. Eddie's service and hospitality were delightful. We will be back!
