I hate to sound cliche, but Austin Powers said it so well: "Yeah, baby!" I'm new to the sport of running and I went in with fears full blown and in motion! I visited Fleet Feet because a friend of mine suggested that I check them out because they offer training sessions on running. So, I walked in and signed up for my first 5K training. I've never looked back! The experience has been nothing short of wonderful. The trainers are in abundance, the information they and encouragement is fantastic, and the opportunities to improve...the sky is the limit! This week, I actually went in to buy a proper pair of shoes. I learned not only that my old shoes were not doing me any favors, but that the shoes I was shown at Fleet Feet really did correct the way I ran. Heck, I must have spent an hour with the sales person asking him a ton of questions, having him watch me walk and watch me run in not one, but three pairs of shoes...and all they while the sales rep is indulging me. In the end I walk out not just with a pair of shoes, but happy with the purchase and an informed customer to boot! Yeah, I love this store and I love what they do for those of us wanting to explore the world of running. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years now and they never seize to impress us. They have an extensive inventory and a very well trained staff to ensure you purchase the appropriate shoe. Once you walk in and start speaking with the staff you will be quick to discover they are not about making money and they would prefer you leaving with your best "foot" forward. Take this example to exemplify customer satisfaction. I have been training for the golden state series (3 half marathons in one year). I purchased a pair of New Balance 880s, then three months later while on my second half marathon, a mysterious bump started forming on the left side of the heel. After a gnarly blister had formed I took them back to fleet feet only expecting maybe a discount for a new pair of shoes. But with a smile, Lisa, a Fleet Feet employee, was very understanding that I had only owned them for 3 months and it clearly looked like a manufacturing defect, so she swapped them out for a new pair. Thank you Lisa for being understanding and amazing, you really made our day! read more

Multiple blisters from ill-fitting shoes, I'd been suffering for a week through my daily workout. Lisa took the time to measure and thoroughly evaluate my feet and discuss my orthotics. I've been a habitual Asics customer for years and based on Lisa's analysis, I'd been wearing the wrong size. I was open to trying something new, so with my width in mind, she recommended I try a pair of NB. I just completed my first three miles in them, and I am ecstatic. I went there the other day and the owner was there. Everyone knows who she is because her picture is on the web site. And so I figure she would be happy and welcoming. She's standing out side and kind of looks at me and then goes inside. I'm right behind her and she doesn't even hold the door open for me. Then shes like "Can I help you?" in this kind of snooty way. And I said yeah I'm looking for a 100 lap watch because I'm training for the AIDS Marathon. She only had 50 or 150 lap. She didn't even try to sell me anything. She was like thats all I have. She could have maybe called the other Fleet Feet's to see if they still had a 100 Lap watch. Or even said something like I'm going to put in an order today, let me take your number and I'll call you when they arrive. But I got nothing. Not even a good luck during training. So I'm just going to continue going to Fleet Feet in SF where they have a very awesome, happy, and polite staff. read more

Well all of the great reviews were accurate for this shop! My husband and I both needed some running shoes and we were greeted immediately by the friendly staff. I worked with Katie who started me out with taking measurements of my feet (sitting and standing) and explaining how the size usually changes depending on how your arches fall (or don't) when you stand. I am a new walker/runner so found all the information very helpful. She then checked my walk for pronation and came back out with several different shoes to try. As i tried each shoe, she would watch me run and tell me if it had good support. One shoe fit the best and gave good support so I went with it. The staff is super helpful and nice so I definitely would recommend getting fitted and purchasing here. This is the place to be if you care about your feet! I admit that I'm tough on my feet. I always have blisters and callouses from long hikes with the cheap, bargain basement shoes. Even more expensive, but ill-fitting shoes do it to me but it was the dreaded plantar fasciitis that lead me here. Having just left the podiatrist I knew it was time to shop. I knew I had to get fitted for shoe that provides stability and comfort. I spent a good hour with David and I found he was knowledgeable and caring. He watched me walk, studied my foot structure and fitted me in a shoe that actually made me smile. Why did I know I could pick out the more expensive of the shoes I tried on? It didn't even matter at this point, I was just very happy to wear a proper shoe for my travels. David was great and I'll return for my next pair of good athletic shoes! read more

This place is absolutely to die for. I mean if you run at all, you have got to go in and work with one of the guys / gals that works at "fleet feet". They are super nice and helpful. They will measure your feet, take a look at the wear pattern of your old shoes. Then they will watch you walk, run, and listen to you rant about your old shoes :) Then you get a bunch of suggestions. You get to take the shoes our for a spin on the sidewalk. It just doesn't get better than this. I will never buy running shoes anywhere else again. They also have team building and community activities if you are into that kinda stuff. Just go check them out and tell them I sent ya. They'll have no idea who I am!! read more

I went here for my first "real" fitting for running shoes. I had my first ever half-marathon coming up and needed good shoes! The salesperson, Sam, took the time to get to know me and my fitness levels - he asked me questions about my typical exercise, about running, how often I train, what surfaces, etc. Then he watched me walk, examined my foot (sounds weird, but looked at my arch, my step, etc to find the right type of shoe and support). He brought me out several options, let me jog around in them, and we decided on the right pair. Ran (ok... jogged and walked) my half, had no shin pain, knee pain, foot pain. It was all good! Bonus - my 18 month old was running around the store, grabbing stuff, getting in to everything and the other employees entertained him, let him play with the foam rollers and stick rollers! read more

Great service ! I tried on lots of shoes, sizes, with inserts, without inserts, to find the right pair in my couch to 5K journey. CJ was helpful and encouraging, giving me lots of great tips. I felt he was excited I was serious about it and wants me to succeed. Got a great pair of shoes and arch inserts, 2 pairs of socks, for around $200. Great experience! I run a typical 6-12 miles, either hardball or trails, and the staff here was amazing at meeting my needs. They measure your feet from all angles and watch how you walk and then they make multiple selections based on your feet's needs. Lauren was amazing and extremely informed, even when I asked ridiculous odd and not so related questions. She made the experience that much more enjoyable. I was there for a solid hour, trying on multiple types of running shoes. She never rushed me and gave me her honest and professional opinion. I went there with the intention of possibly leaving with a pair of shoes and I ended up with a pair for street running and a pair for the trails, not to mention some amazing socks. I learned that cotton isn't a great choice for running, go figure :p Of course with this amazing service things aren't "cheap", both of my shoes were on the lower end, around $100 each, but that goes without saying, the quality is amazing. I'll be returning for sure when I need a new pair, or just some great apparel or socks. And ya, she was a cutie :) read more

If you are looking for just the right fit in shoes for all your activities, you need to stop in this place. The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They do a thorough scan of your foot to determine best shoes for your foot type based on arch, width and activity. They carry a variety of brands...Saucony, Asics, Brooks, even a few speciality brands you may have never heard of, etc. Prices are comparable to other athletic shoe stores, but what sets them apart is you can try out your shoes for 30 days and if for any reason you don't like them you can return them (cause you know what might feel right initially may not feel right after a few runs or hikes). You've probably seen them in one of my profile pics. Okay, I will stop embarrassing myself. Because admitting that it's been such a long time since buying footwear is embarrassing. Upon the recommendation of a friend I was directed to Fleet Feet Sports. What I did not expect was a knowledgeable, friendly staff, a great selection of shoes on-hand, or to come out of the store with anything other than my favorite brand (I should own stock). After a series of foot measurements, an education on the proper sock to wear for high endurance running, and, trying on several pairs of shoes, I came away with {drum roll, please} A PAIR OF NEW BALANCE! Ack! But I kid you not, they are the most comfortable athletic shoes I've ever had on my feet. I believe they will serve me well on my power walks! I am not a runner, I am actually very anti-running unless being chased by a rabid animal or at some point - zombies. Dont laugh, we all know that day is coming! What brought me into fleet feet was the fact that by noon my feet were KILLING me at work. I broke my foot in January and ever since then I have had a tough time getting back to full workdays standing on industrial steel grating. This didnt seem right for an in-shape fella in his 30's. So a friend told me he gets his shoes from fleet feet and off I go. Kyle worked with me an listened to my vague, long winded explanation of what was going on and when all was said and done I bought a great pair of shoes that are a perfect fit. I just started walking/jogging/running last week, so my husband suggested that I get properly fitted for the right shoes. He just bought some running shoes last week and raved about their customer service, so I thought I'd come here too. I went here during my lunch hour. All the sales associates were busy with other customers, so I waited about 5-10 mins before I was helped. Debbie (the owner) helped me. She measured my foot (weighed & unweighted) and observed how I stand and how I walk barefoot. I have never been evaluated so thoroughly for a shoe before! This is a GREAT thing because the better the evaluation, the better chance of finding shoes that are most comfortable for you and most preventive of injury (important!). Debbie is AWESOME! She is super nice & takes time to explain the results of your fitting. Most salespeople want you in and out, but from the looks of it, all employees here give the right amount of attention their customers need. I tried on 3 different shoes (that Debbie chose for me based on my evaluation) and I ended up purchasing the pair that Debbie picked first. I jogged around a lot, inside and outside, to make sure I found them comfortable and Debbie even watched me jog to make sure the shoes did its job. Since my husband was already a customer, Debbie put me on his "rewards" account. I guess when families come here, they are given the same account. For every $250 spent (before tax), you get a $25 store credit. Cool! Me and my hubby already have $270 credit! We will definitely be coming back to this store. As long as they keep up the excellent customer service, we will be loyal customers and always buy our workout shoes here! Oh, and a 60-day return policy? Awesome! read more

I went here today to pick up my race packet for tomorrows Fleet Feet Sports 5K that I'll be participating in at Shadow Cliff Regional Park. Today's visit was energy packed with the race buzz waving the air, the London Summer 2012 Olympics going on and the Fleet Feet Women's Fitness Festival going on in the parking lot. Great small running store. Carries a lot of women's sports apparel. Shirts, shorts, shoes, socks, caps, GPS watches, jewelry, etc. I got some really good help from a very patient and kind clerk. The woman help me with Garmin & Nike GPS watches and answered all my questions regarding a couple of items I had no experience with. Great selection of running shoes. I was surprised that there were a couple of people there to help people try on shoes as well as a couple of benches for people to sit on while trying on shoes. Very nice for a small store. There was also a man there giving free massages...part of the festival events. The store also has both men & women's bathrooms and a couple of changing rooms. I was very impressed with this store and I'm very glad I was able to be there today even though it was over 100 degrees in the Pleasanton area today. read more

Fantastic service; staff is friendly & knowledgeable. I wish they had more clothes to choose from, but then again, it's probably the size of the store that prevents them from adding more merchandise. They also have an excellent return/exchange policy for their shoes - if they don't fit well, you can always return/exchange them within a certain time frame. I don't remember if it was 30 days or 60 (I think probably 30), but that's helpful for those that are trying a new brand of shoes. Id give them SIX STARS if i could. I have never been to a more thoroughly helpful sports store. Christina helped me find a new pair of running shoes with the perfect fit and support that accounts for my pronation. She educated me so much about the anatomy of the feet and habits I can adapt to minimize injury. She really listened to me and took the time to take into account my current running level and goals. Just from buying the right shoes and being informed, I feel like Id become a much more serious runner in my mind lol. The store has a customized shoe fit session that lasts about 30 min for everyone who comes in, and IT IS WORTH YOUR TIME. I have been going to Fleet Feet for over 3 years and I love it there! I have been helped by different associates, but there is one associate that I would highly recommend to wait for and be assisted by: Karsyn. She is very informative and educates you as to what type of shoe works best for your feet and why. When Karsyn was not available, I have been assisted by other associates, but there were some that weren't as in tune and patient when it came to finding the right shoe for my feet. But each time I have been assisted by Karsyn she has always been patient and very thorough until you are both satisfied with a shoe that benefits your feet. A really great experience. I was fit and came home with a new pair of running shoes. There was no pressure to purchase anything else. Just suggestions.... try this.....Do you like it? Every time I would say yeah or no he would totally agree with me. Unfortunately i bought a pair of shoes that were outside of the brand I have been running in and want to go back to my Brooks. I called and stated that I had taken a 2 mile run in the new shoes but was sure they were not the ones for me. Awesome personalized service! Unlike Foot Locker or Champs or whatever, the staff here really do care about performace and putting you in the right shoe for your feet! My husband wears a 15EE, so alot of times, alot of places dont have his size; this location was perfect in that it had shoes in his size AND staff observed my husband walk in the shoes to make sure they were the correct shoes for him. My wife as always gone to this Fleet Feet to get her forever favorite Brooks Adrenaline which she has been happy with for the last 4 times she has bought them. I was due for a set of running shoes--particularly, since I was having a mystery pain in and around my heel area. I went there with about an hour to go before closing, and though I had to wait a few minutes, once Kyle was available, the personal attention that he spent on me was great. The shoes recommended (along with insoles) addressed the immediate need to provide much needed relief to my nagging injury and keep me on the road while I researched what was causing my problem. There are only a few things that prevent me from giving them 5 stars are the following: -Although the personal service was great, at other times where I visited and needed to ask questions, it appeared that it was difficult for some of the employees to just do a quick "welcome to Fleet Feet, I'll be right with you in a few minutes ok?" I'm sure that your customers wouldn't mind you breaking to answer a quick question--and if that second (or third customer needed shoes as well, you can explain that they too will get the same service when it's their turn) -I'd like to see a few more common items stocked, like a Pro-Stretch, compression socks and the like. read more

This store is extremely clean and well organized. Came in looking for men's tennis shoes. Based on what I read in other reviews, they had some. On arrival it was clear this wasn't the case. They only offer cross-training shoes which you could use for tennis, but nothing dedicated to the sport. They were quick and helpful rather than having me poke around for 10-15 minutes to figure that out. read more

Ever since I had a foot surgery, I've always had a hard time finding those perfect running shoes that actually fit me. My old pair, which was a Men's NB, I had outgrown them when I was in high school at the time. I remember going to Chalet Sports, but none of their woman shoes would fit me right. When I was referred to the World of Shoes in Dublin, I also tried multiple woman shoes with no luck and I even tried several Men's shoes with double EE with no luck. I honestly thought, I wouldn't find a pair of running shoes that would fit me. When I went home, I got back onto my computer as I looked around some more places via Yelp to find possible shoe stores, which I could visit and I came across really good reviews for Fleet Feet Sports store in Downtown Pleasanton. I just hope I didn't give Jessica too much trouble in helping me out the day I went in to buy a pair of running shoes. As I walked in, I was greeted by 3 woman, which one included Jessica. She had a clip board with her, which she took down my shoe size and checked my stability as I walked long strides from the bench to the front of the store and back. Lets just say, she brought out at least 10 pairs of shoes from the back in total because my bunions kept rubbing against the sides as I walked in them. So, I hope I didn't give Jessica too much trouble the day I visited her. At the very end, I purchased a pair of Men's NB shoes w/out the stability cushion in double E's, which till this day is the most perfect, comfortable shoes to run in. I want to give them a 4, but was so frustrated to have to wait without any human contact for 10 minutes, I cannot!!! Yes, I know they are busy, but on a Sat. all you have to do is say Hello and tell me I will be with you in 10 min. Not have me stand there annoyed with the another customer that felt the same way. I wondered if I was invisible, wishing I had just gone to Zappos and ordered 3 pairs to try as they return ship for FREE and are $30 less. Customer Service 101!!! But I am trying to shop local and support the smaller businesses, so I sucked it up, took it for a busy Sat. afternoon and...... Sarah came to my rescue. She spent an hour with me trying on 3 different shoes. Which I noticed, 3 other women were trying on the same exact shoes. Same runner feet? Coincidence or not, It made me feel, If they sold a certain amount New Balance, they would get a bonus for selling the most that day? Again, could be coincidence? Anyway, I did end up with the most expensive shoes, NB, knowing I got what I paid for, but still felt like I was being "sold the most expensive pair". The green superfeet make my shoes fart, so I am now a squeaky runner!!! As if running isn't hard enough to get into..... Sarah was wonderful, super sweet and she is very knowledgeable. I think she is the Manager, and her skills almost made up for the lack of customer service in the beginning!!! I am sure my Yelp won't impact their business, but I will not buy another pair of shoes there!!! There are many other places to go once you find what you like!!! This place is great! Everyone is very friendly! I have to say that I was very very impressed. I was referred to this place by three different people (who do not know one another). I am a runner and walker and the shoes I'd been using were not working for me.. My feet would throb after my run or walk and I couldn't figure out why.. I had the same issues with other shoes as well. They measure your feet, analyze how you walk and step, and they fit you to a shoe that is right for your feet. They sell a lot of other things as well (clothing, watches, gear, etc.). I left this place with a great pair of great fitting shoes. Right away I felt such a huge difference!
