Loved coming here! I've been dying to try Korean toast and this place did not disappoint. My bf and I enjoyed coming here so much that we came back the next day. The place is super cute and they have photo booths for customers to take pictures. The pictures are a little pricey, $5 each, but worth it! We tried the dalgona coffee and dalgona foam coffee and wow they are amazing!! The dalgona candy is so addicting I added it to the dalgona foam coffee since it didn't come with it. We also tried the green grape ade and it was soo good. We tried the ham and cheese toast and the kimichi bulgogi toast the first day and both were so good. This place doesn't have thick sliced toast,instead there buns. The Buena Park location has more options and looks so much better.

The food itself is not that bad but I would not go out of my way to come here again. The service is a self serve kiosk which is easy to navigate. The workers are not that kind and you get the feeling that they just want you to leave. I would recommend the location at The Source. I ordered the bulgogi sandwich. It was very filling due to the thick slices of bread but I don't think it had a good meat to egg to bread ratio cause there wasn't a lot of meat. The egg was definitely the star of the show. It was fluffy and they give a good amount. I noticed there was a lot of sauce pooled at the bottom of the sandwich making it messy to eat. I found the sandwich to taste better with hot sauce cause it gets boring after a while cause it's a lot of bread. read more

Flippoly's menu changed a few months back. The bread used to be thick, buttery brioche-like bread and I loved that it was an elevated version of Issac Toast that's worth $10. But now it is thin white bread. I was excited to hear that they brought the Korean style toast back, but the new version is shameful. The other components of the sandwich are mostly better compared to before; it is now more similar to a Korean street-style toast sandwich. I couldn't tell if it had jam on it, though, which is typical for these sandwiches. I wouldn't pay this much for the sandwich as it is now much smaller. The tteokbokki is flavorful and fun to eat in both the rice cake and noodle versions. I usually get the rose style option but the K-style is good as well (the rose one tastes creamier and sweeter in my opinion). Newest lunch spot for UCI students has opened up! Got the Korean Street Style not knowing what was in it and was pleasantly surprised, along with the green grape smoothie. Most of the intra-sandwich volume was occupied by a very bland coleslaw (probably for filler) but the texture difference between that and the ham/egg/melted cheese combination almost made up for its lack of flavor. They spread the top piece of bread with strawberry jam, with a dollop of real preserved strawberry on top for a little decor! The smoothie was super refreshing and tasted just like the fruit. All in all, a satisfying meal for around 18$ --a little pricey to be coming regularly. I will probably be back within the next couple of weeks to try the other sandwich options, but if you haven't been before don't skip it :) read more

This is one of the more poorly run businesses at UTC. Their service has gone down over time and they just use a machine to take orders now and they just leave the food on the counter for you. Hope they're not expecting a tip for that. They also make up their hours because they seem to open late and close up early instead of operating at their posted hours. I came here around 10:50 since it says they open at 10:30 and the door was locked and it looked like there was one person inside. They turned off the lights when I went up to the door. I called and got no response. Didn't even look like the person inside was doing anything. Honestly don't know how this business is still open based on the terrible service and operation. Was bummed that there location closer to us closed so we ordered to-go from this location. We walked in and there are some seats inside but the space is not large. Right next to the front counter is a large single ordering stand where you order using the screen. They take ApplePay which was convenient. We ordered for take out. Walked around the plaza while we waited- probably took 10-15 min. Family ordered angus sandwich (minus cabbage and added sausage), bacon and cheese sandwich, ham sandwich, side of bulgogi, and k-style ttokbokki. I had 1/2 of the ham sandwich which was perfect- not too salty and the cabbage was crunchy (not soggy) and the sauce was slightly sweet but not overpowering. K-style tokkbokki was spicy! There wasn't a lot of sauce and not sure if that's because we got it to go and it took us 20 min to get home with it. Truthfully I give this place a four only because the front desk lady was so nice and very helpful As well as giving me her favorite order. The place was small but cozy, it seemed that you could reserve a second so that was cool. The only thing was the food was a lot smaller than what the photo makes it seem, it will also take about 45 min to get your food. Came here for the egg sandwich last time and was intrigued by the rose noodle - a mild spicy noodle immersed in melted cheese with sausages and bacon. It's rare when I start off a review by saying, do NOT come to this establishment but here we are. A few days ago, I visited this shop for the third time. The first two times I didn't have an issue because I ordered the same thing, "Dalgona Coffee". It was decent, but definitely not worth the price. I told myself next time I was in the area, I would order the "Matcha Einspanner" since it's one of my favorite drinks to get in LA. I've had this quite a few times at other coffee shops and cafés so I'd like to say that I'm pretty well versed with this drink. Honestly, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any establishment...First off, there were only two employees in the store one of which was the "manager". Secondly, the cashier at the register didn't know how to answer any question I asked her no matter how simple like, "is there sugar already added into the matcha?". She would just look at me flustered and run to the back without saying anything, scan through papers, come back, and say "I'm not sure". I decided to make it easy and order the "Matcha Einspanner" which is a pretty straight-forward drink. Apparently, I was wrong. I proceeded to wait 15 minutes for my latte because the same cashier that would take orders before me, continued after me before making any drinks. How I was trained when I previously worked at a tea shop was take an order, then make it, then take the next order etc. to avoid long wait times and being overwhelmed but the opposite was happening here. The lack of urgency from this employee was a bit surprising since there were about six people waiting for their drinks to be made yet, she still continued taking orders, not making any drinks, and the manager was just cooking eggs next to her while not offering any help... After watching her make the "Matcha Einspanner", that cost me nearly $7, I was appalled. They quite literally charge you nearly $7 for milk, ice, and a cup rimmed with matcha and sugar. Let me be absolutely transparent, no actual matcha shot or an ounce of matcha as a liquid was in the drink. The thick cream topping that's supposed to top the matcha latte which is what makes the drink "Einspanner", was not even present. Just milk, ice, and matcha DRIZZLE around the cup, not even inside of it...It is truly shocking that this business has the audacity to serve this and label it a "Matcha Einspanner" while there are completely different pictures on their menu than what is actually served. But what was more appalling is that when I pointed out that this didn't have even a single shot of matcha in it, was missing the cream, and is only milk and ice, the cashier just stared at me. So I asked if she could make me the "Dalgona Coffee" instead because I refused to pay $7 for just milk and ice which a literal scam (didn't say this just politely asked for it to be exchanged). Then she took my drink, went to charge me for BOTH drinks, before the manager called her over and I watched as they huddled together, laughed in secret, and then came over to say she was going to charge me for a new drink even though she had already taken the other one from me. This is when the "manager" aka the person cooking eggs started yell over the stove, give me attitude, and spoke rudely before I said, "I want a refund, it'll be easier that way" while still remaining polite despite being disrespected this entire time. His response was "that would be the best case for both of us"...incredibly rude. Long story short, this place is low quality, has untrained/rude employees and managers, and scams you with their prices by claiming to serve something with fake images and serve completely different items. Go somewhere else, it is not even worth "trying out". Definitely will not recommend this establishment to anyone and doesn't deserve a single star. read more

I finally was able to try Flippoly! I ordered the Bulgogi bbq sandwich and the Dalgona foam coffee. The bulgogi bbq sandwich was very flavorful and came out super hot and fresh - made to order! I felt a bit nostalgic - the bread reminds me of grilled cheese from elementary school. The bread is super buttery and crisp on both sides and there's melty cheese... however, it's filled with scrambled egg, bulgogi beef and their house sauce! It was fun to try and it's very flavorful, but it was pretty heavy and I couldn't actually finish it. I don't know if I would come out of my way to eat it again unless I split it with someone else or maybe to try a different sandwich or coffee. Staff were super friendly. They must have just recently changed their menu. The sandwiches now are not the size of what they were before. The bread is about the size of a normal loaf of white bread and super thin. Nothing like what the brioche bread was like. So physical size of the sandwich is maybe like 60% of what it used to be. The egg is maybe 1/3 the amount you used to get too. They then added some sort of slaw which actually was a good addition. Overall the taste was still good but just felt bamboozled from what it was to what you get now. Flippoly is finally open at UTC! My colleague hyped this place up so much, so I was psyched to finally try it. They soft opened last week and started serving their sandwiches Monday. I am happy to say that the wait was WORTH IT! My husband and I tried the ham cheese and the kimchi bulgogi sandwiches. The bread is so light and buttery. It reminded my husband of Texas toast. I really loved the eggs. I am usually not a fan of scrambled eggs as it is often rubbery but these were nice and fluffy, like eating a savory cloud. The ham cheese sandwich satisfied our breakfast sandwich craving. The kimchi bulgogi sandwich was an explosion of flavor. It was a bit spicy, savory, even a little sweet from the sauce. The first bite shocked us a bit, but we liked it more and more with each bit. My only criticism is that the beef and kimchi were all at the top, so by the time we got midway, it was mostly bread and egg. The price is pretty decent too, considering the location.
