My family and I ended up here after intending to go to nearby Giordanos for a birthday dinner. It happened to be closed last night unexpectedly which turned out to be a fortunate turn of events because the meals we got were ultimately much better for similar pricing. The difference is in the complexity and depth of flavors in the italian entrees. The marinara sauce is excellent as were the fresh rolls and olive oil that preceded the meal. They are both good and I will return to both for certain items but this place is a clear step up in food qualtiy. We had Veal Saltimbocca, whole sea bass, Chicken Parmesan, Ravioli and Mediterranean salmon. Everyone was thrilled with their entrees. I plan to get the saltimbocca again some time. I'm pretty new to the area, I move out here from Philadelphia where I can walk in any direction and find a great bite to eat. I found Floga through Groupon. I called about 3 hours prior to my arrival and was able to get a resv for that same evening (score). We were seated immediately at a table for two, Our waitress (Denise) was very pleasant and knowledgeable. A booth opened up next to us and she offered to move us to the bigger table without us even asking. I thought that was pretty nice. We ordered the Rustica pizza, Penne A le Vodka and a side of broccoli rabe to split between the two of us. The food was very flavorful and the portions were large. Although we were stuffed and took home a doggie bag we decided to order dessert. We split the lemoncello cake which was delicious. I would definitely return. This was my first visit and it was definitely a positive one. I had the eggplant parmesan and a Caesar salad. The salad had a really unique dressing which was creamy and spicy, and the lettuce was crisp. The eggplant was perfectly breaded in tasty gravy. Floga Bistro is tucked away a bit in the corner of an anonymous mall on the east side of Kennett Square but it has always been a friendly and welcoming stop for good, unpretentious fare. Now that it also provides breakfast at weekends, it is a real contender for being one of the best breakfast spots in the area, most others being perhaps too well-established to be thinking about what they offer by way of menu or surroundings. The breakfast menu is not very extensive but there should be something for most tastes and appetites and it will undoubtedly be a regular stop for our family in future. I've been here twice. The first time was for lunch, and the waitress was new and very inept. I did not get what I ordered, but by the time it finally came I at it anyway. It was delicious, whatever it was (maybe a sausage sandwich, but I ordered a grilled Italian)... Decided to give it another try for dinner. Food was good this time too, BUT, they had a two dollar per person up charge for the "entertainment" which was a singing waitress! Every twenty minutes or so this sorta scratchy background music would come on and she would stand near the center of the restaurant and belt out a song (Whitney Houston, Etta James, etc.) Yes, they added $4 to our bill for this privilege. Not so good, the place is dirty and the service is very slow. My daughter and husband both had chicken Parmesan, chicken was tough and dry. I had a tortellini dish that was over cooked and watery. No doubt it was cheap frozen bagged tortellini. If an Italian restaurant can't boil pasta correctly there is a real problem. Perhaps this would be a nice place to get a takeout pizza, but that's about it. The wait staff was very bored and brought an unpleasant mood to our table. The steak was mediocre and overcooked (received medium-well instead of medium-rare), and the baked potato and vegetable selection left a lot to be desired. At the start of the meal, dinner rolls were served in a basked with a plate full of oil for dipping, but the presentation of it made this very unappealing. Aside from the below-average food, there was no music playing in the restaurant, meaning you could hear every single clink and clang from the kitchen, and the decor was akin to a hospital waiting room. Floga bistro not only delivered within the promised timeline, directly to our room, but the service and food was absolutely incredible! My spouse and I both ordered pasta seafood dishes. The waitress not only knew little about the menu, but acted like she did not want to be there. We both asked for spicey marinara sauce. My spouses dish was fine and while I love spice, my dish was not edible. I have never sent a dish back before because it was too spicy, but had little choice as it smelled like they dumped a jar of cayenne pepper in it. The waitres gave me a hard time about taking it back and neither apologized nor offered to redo the dish. She came back a few minutes later and said they would make me another dish, but I declined as I had lost faith in both her and the kitchen at that point. I told them I would not use my groupon and would just pay for my spouses meal. My groupon expired a few weeks later and I lost $30. The experience shows that it's critical to hire the right people on both sides of the resturaunt. We have visited Floga Bistro close to 29 times, but after that experience and losing $30, will likely avoid it going forward. read more

We order takeout often from here and have been generally pleased which is why this is 2 stars instead of 1. It was clear tonight that they either gave our order to someone else or never prepared it. I didn't have food in hand until 35 minutes after the indicated pickup time and had 3 different stories of what happened. I've worked in restaurants...a sincere apology, acknowledgement that they screwed up and realistic wait time to resolve the problem, followed by something as simple as a small price reduction or an offer for a soda while we wait would have made all the difference....and I wouldn't be sitting here typing up a negative review. When I politely voiced my frustration, the final version of the story was that one of the original pizzas was burned and they were doing us a favor by preparing us a new one. First of all, I'm so glad they deliver. I'm sick, home bound a I can't drive. So, we decided to order from them for the first time. I'm really glad we did. It was excellent. We ordered a cheese pizza with 1/2 olives and artichokes. It was great and the mozzarella was delicious. We also ordered penne with vodka sauce and it was SO good. My kid actually ordered it, but it kept finding myself sneaking bites off of his plate. My husband and I both ordered the Emperor's Choice Panini. They were great and full of roasted veggies and fresh mozzarella. They came with home made chips, which were addictive. Finally, we ordered strawberry cheesecake and a cannoli. We are too full to try them now, but they look delicious. The people I spoke with on the phone and the delivery guy were all very nice. We will definitely order from them again. read more

Met friends here for dinner- a party of 4. The grilled artichoke appetizer was good but drenched in olive oil which was a shame since the feta and salad were fresh and tasty on their own. I had the Carbonara and I should have listened to my inner voice when it said DO NOT ORDER THIS. To be fair the menu said it had mushrooms, onion, and peas along with the pancetta but this was the farthest from Carbonara you could come up with in a white sauce. It was ok but pretty rich. More like a alfredo sauce with some pancetta. My husband like his baked ziti. The server was very nice but I think he was new. We ate like cows for $125 so at least we didnt feel ripped off. Wonderful bread made on site. We had 2 different panninis. The chicken was white and the arugula was fresh. The sausage , peppers and onion version was also good. Like I said, the bread they came on was great. The service was very good and the prices are moderate. Plenty of parking since its in a strip mall and they take all cards. I am new to Kennett moved here in October. Just came across this place the other day didn't even know it existed. Grabbed the menu then order takeout tonight. Let me tell you the food was amazing!!!! delivered to our home I had the tortellini, my daughter had chicken Parm, my wife had the clams we got a small pizza for my son. The pizza was out of this world!! The food was delivered hot tasted amazing!! we all have leftovers for tomorrow. This place is an absolute homerun I will continue to eat here on the regular. read more

Good service - OK food I recently visited on a Sunday night. There were 2 older guests in our party and the staff was very helpful getting us seated at table that could accommodate guests who needed to use walkers. The waiter said it was only his 2nd week, and he did not know the menu well. He was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is BYOB which was fine. The food was spotty. Veal Piccata, Chicken Piccata, and Eggplant Parmigiano were all really good. Calamari - both fried & grilled - was awful. The soup was wonderful. All in all, I would not mind being invited to eat there again, but I would not rush there on my own. read more

I just want to warn everyone about the disgusting pizza at this place. I ordered the 12 inch "margherita" pizza which was supposed to have "fresh mozzerella" cheese on it. I took one bite of the pizza and was immediately whisked back to a memory of eating snack bar pizza or a frozen pizza from the discount grocery store. It has that very distinctive flavor that only come from pre-made frozen dough and canned sauce. The "fresh" mozzerella was NOT fresh, rather, it was the same bagged mozzerella that would be used on a normal pie, but just placed in clumps rather than spread over the whole pizza. The reason why real fresh mozz has to to be placed that way is because it is so soft and delicate when it is actually fresh, which this cheese was absolutely not. Fresh mozz must be placed in clumps because it is a soft cheese that can't be sprinkled and spread like drier cheese can. Also, fresh mozz is white while this cheese was yellow and browned just the way it would be on a regular pie. The sauce was overly salty and had that metallic canned flavor to it. The crust was flat out horrible with the famous trifecta of what makes pizza bad: it was soggy, thick and doughy. Blech. Aside from the terrible pizza, the sauce on my husband's pasta dish was sweet. There's nothing worse than overly sweet marinara sauce when it comes to Italian food, because it's proof positive that the chef is definitely not Italian. My mom's lobster ravioli was just ok. Our friend's meatballs were diminutive, and were gray/tan in color, a sure sign of lots of filler. We also noted that there was no wait on a Friday night, when other places in the area generally get so jammed that it's nearly impossible to get a table. I don't think we'll be back. read more

If i could give this place 0 stars...Horrible experience. The waitress was horrible. I ordered an eggplant Parmesan but the price wasn't specified AT ALL. I didn't get ANY pasta, but I still spent $14.99 on the meal?? The waitress NEVER informed me of the price and she expected me, THE CUSTOMER to know?? A teenager should know these price differences? The price was "clearly" stated on the menu? The boss didn't care about what I had to say. I'm glad to know that they employees care so much about the customers. So much for "the customer is always right." It's incredible how customer hospitality is not a thing anymore. Always a great experience here. Great food especially the bread made fresh there. Best visit was last April when I mentioned to our waiter that I couldn't get reception to check who was winning the Masters. Every time he refilled a drink or cleared a plate he quietly relayed what was going on. I don't remember his name but he should be in the restaurant hall of fame. read more

Nice for a quick supper before a concert at Longwood Gardens recently. Attractive place even with the generic artwork. Service friendly, and menu offered a wide range of selections from casual to fairly serious. Only drawback on one of the coldest nights of the winter was that the big comfy booths that must be great most times still picked up the cold temperature from the tall windows that make up most of the restaurant's front wall. read more

This would have been a 5 star, but....1) it took FOREVER to get our food, over an hour. 2) the pasta portion for my Shrimp Glyfada and the Clams and pasta were so embarrassingly small, a child would have been hungry after that portion. Just ate there last night and it was incredible. I haven't been in a while but I will definitely be dining there again. The new menu items look amazing. The bread, that is made on site, is magnificent. I had the Seafood Vesuvio over their homemade pappardelle pasta. My date had the Veal Saltibocca a la Romano and I had to try a bite. I had been to Floga Bistro for lunch twice and was pleased with the food but on this night recently there were several issues. Shrimp sakanaki had maybe 5 shrimp which had a wonderful texture and taste but the thick too sweet sauce and huge cubes of feta were overboard. If the feta was flambeed how would you know? Next, my dinner partner had veal saltimboca. Not really. It had no sage. It was covered with a creamy buttery sauce and topped with provolone. Why call it saltimboca. I had spaghetti Bolognese. Not really. This meat sauce lacked meat and was the same semisweet thick sauce in the sakanaki. There was so much sauce that I took half of the serving home and combined it with a half pound of pasta. I must acknowledge that the service was very friendly and attentive. read more

After visiting Longwood Gardens Christmas exhibit, we were looking for a family friendly restaurant (we have a 20-month old) for dinner that wasn't fast food or diner food. A quick search online and scan of some reviews told us that Floga Bistro might be the perfect spot and it was. A 4-5 minute drive from Longwood, we were greeted warmly by our waitress Kate who was phenomenal. She was extremely nice and knowledgeable. The menu was so extensive it was difficult to decide what we wanted. Our food was delicious, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. I'm glad we got there a bit early for dinner (5:30 ish) because we didn't have a reservation and this place gets packed/seems popular (it's also a BYOB). It seems that reservations are recommended and I can see why. Despite the fact that the place was busy and seemed short staffed for the night, Kate couldn't have been nicer. We would definitely recommend this place to others and will definitely be back. read more
