I showed up to their store on a Tuesday evening, and met Jim, and told him of my issue. He had whole thing done in 4 days! Timeline: * Tuesday evening - went to the store, met Jim, told him I needed carpets ASAP. * Wednesday morning - Jim himself came by to visit and take measurements * Wednesday afternoon - Jim texted me some pictures of their carpets they had in stock and emailed estimates. * Wednesday evening - I picked one of the in stock carpets and paid the deposit (50%). * Thursday - I gave a key to the unit to Jim. Jim committed to having carpets done early the following week. * Friday - Jim said a slot opened up on his installers schedule sooner, and he had them replace the carpets that day. Also they were actually cheaper than another quote I got from a flooring store, and similar to Home Depot. I had used Home Depot once before and I was not a fan of their installation quality (or honestly their scheduling), so was looking for someone else. After enduring 5 different tenants, each with pets, since 2016, the floors held up extremely well but I thought that they could use a new buffing before I put the unit back on the market because they had recently incurred some water damage from a ceiling leak. Jaime came over the very next day after I had contacted him, and then rebuffed the floors the following day. The price was extremely reasonable. What was most surprising is the Jaime actually moved the kitchen appliances and to remove the accumulated debris under them, despite my suggestion that he need not bother to do this extra work. This is definitely a man who cares about his work: conscientious, efficient, reliable and most importantly, a skilled craftsman!

Before Charlotte I had talked to 2 other designers (other companies) to mock up a kitchen, but they completely failed to listen to the design brief and spec'ed a cookie cutter kitchen that was a poor use of the space. Charlotte carefully listened to what we want*, and then delivered on the design with great suggestions. She was the only designer we talked to that had both the talent and empathy to deliver. She is detail oriented with both the usability of the kitchen and measurements, and is also able to have good discussions about quality-cost trade offs: Will the ADU door open, with the fridge so close? Is there enough space on each side of the hob for cooking? Are the upper cabinets easy to reach? What materials to make the cabinet boxes? What custom elements are needed to create a built-in look, etc, etc... it just goes on and she's on top of it all! Gilman's then delivered the kitchen on time and drama-free, and also arranged a great carpenter to make some final adjustments. From the beginning, Harry stood out from the other contractors I contacted. His quote was not the lowest, but after walking through the house with him, I felt confident that he knew exactly what he was doing. He took the time to assess the floors properly, explain the options, and provide honest recommendations rather than trying to upsell unnecessary work. The quality of the work was excellent. The floors look beautiful, and I have not found a single issue with the finished product. What I especially appreciated was Harry's attention to detail and professionalism. He repaired several floorboards, completed a few closets that we had not even specifically discussed, and took care of a couple of additional items he discovered along the way without making a big deal about it.
