Excellent pizza and service. True Italian style and top notch ingredients. This ain't your typical Long Island Pizza. They got it right!

LOVED the thin and ultra crispy but lite crust and the amazing sweet sauce on this pizza!

Food was Excellent! Margarita Pizza and Fried Artichoke for appetizers. Papardelle Bolognese, Linguini with white clam sauce, chicken Milanese and Spicy Linguini Marinara as entrees. Ambiance was warm and inviting. Service was a bit slow. Restaurant was also a bit warm- ceiling fans moving but clearly lack of AC. We will be back! read more

I write this review with a heavy heart. I have written some really good and really bad reviews in my day. And they were all warranted. I write my reviews for the people reading them (and my two foodie super nieces who follow me) not the restaurants. I read reviews when looking for a new place, and good honest reviews by others steer me to a good meal and help me miss a bad one. This one is a little different, I liked the place so much that I am afraid my review will make it even busier and harder for ME to get a table at when I want to return ! Well here it goes. This was my first time dining at Flora's. My expectations were modest as I was told it's a glorified pizza place. I thought-Hey -I like Pizza, so it will be good enough at worst ? Well it's not a glorified pizza place. It's a high end, super tasty restaurant, with a chief / owner transplanted from a fancy restaurant from just across town. Flora is in an "old pizza" restaurant that's been redone all but the PIZZA sign in the window. Place was nice enough and the food was well keep reading .... My meal started with a Margarita Pizza shared with the table that was great and only left me wishing it was bigger ! We also ordered the Caprese for the table and it was also good. Tomatoes were ripe on point and cheese was very creamy. It was served with olive oil. I asked for some balsamic in addition and it showed up instantly . My main dish, Chicken Milanese, it was by far the best I've ever had. The cutlet was served hot, crispy, and the salad on top, dressed in a sweet balsamic reduction was just enough to coat the salad and drip some goodness down onto the cutlets. It's served just the way I like it. I wish they were open for breakfast, I'd be on my way already for the same dish ! Even better than the food was the staff. They work their tails off in tight quarters and they all have a smile on their faces (especially our waitress) and seem truly happy to be working there. It creates the positive experience that used to be commonplace when dining out before Covid. So there you have it - the secrete is out ( not really- it was plenty busy last night). My prediction is this place will be looking for a larger space very soon. They are putting out top notch food, backed with excellent service with a smile. Imagine that, a smile. Went to Flora's with a group of friends for lunch, we all loved the food. Service was perfect and we encountered a friendly owner behind the counter which tells me that there is someone operating this place with love. We did not order the pizza we had various choices of the lunch panni's which everyone agreed were delicious. First off the couple that are the owners are just lovely. Young sweet couple. Place is very quaint, with seating for maybe 25 ppl or so. The food: we got classic cheese pizza with mushrooms. Was very good-thicker than I was expecting but taste was great and it was crispy. Veggie calzone-great taste, little soggy on the bottom. But we spoke to the owner who was very open to hear what we had to say, and even took it off the bill (thank you, but was not necessary). Also they have full bar and wine selection. They have only been open 2 weeks so with a little time to calibrate, this place has great potential. We will be back. Best of luck to this awesome couple on realizing their dream! read more

I needed a quick bite to eat, so I figured I'd grab a few quick slices. When I walked in, I was surprised because it was not your typical pizza joint. Very cute and quaint restaurant with a nice bar. On top of the bar a case displaying a variety of different pizzas. I started with a plain slice. It was great second slice I had chicken cutlet, which was also excellent. We recently discovered Flora's. Actually a friend discovered it and took us there. Elvis the owner is an amazing chef. This is a tiny pizza store in an out of the way shopping center. His dishes are made with the finest ingredients and it shows. Service is excellent. Gabriella, Elvis's wife sometimes serves as the waitress while keeping herd on their three adorable children. The cost of a diner there is inexpensive compared to some other places. We've been back several time bringing friends to make sure they get to be known in the neighborhood. Marvin T. read more

On my quest to find the best pizza on Long Island I came across this very tiny pizza cafe. So now this probably was not my typical slice which was the wildly fascinating thing about Flora's pizza. This was a uniquely different crust but in a good way from the over 110 pizza places I have gone to since the first week in May 2023. I asked for well done and it was cooked just the Sun I like it make the crust crispy. The sauce was good and my only complaint would be I like a lighter slice. I think this is a different take on a traditional slice but I highly recommend people try it. The staff were nice and friendly. And for a small pizzeria it had an great atmosphere and charm. read more

Similar to a previous review, we did not get the hype of this restaurant. We ate here recently and were really hoping to like it, but it was mediocre at best. The eggplant appetizer was mushy and the sauce quite boring. The pepperoni hot honey pizza was also in our view boring, and the prosciutto on the one half was not put on the pie while being cooked, but put on the pizza after it was cooked, which we found unappealing texturally. The wine was good however, though somewhat pricey. All in all, for a bill of $100 we would have hoped for something more. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

This place is literally a gem!! The food is exceptional all around. The flavors, quality, and preparation are 10/10. Whether you want pizza or want to go more high end for their pasta or entrees, you will be very impressed. My husband and I have been coming here regularly since they opened and we always have an amazing time, and leave so satisfied. The ambiance is also great, it's very intimate but at the same time it's also great for kids. And the service is, again, so good! Flora's Pizza Cafe is absolutely fantastic! The ambiance and service are on point. They take reservations which is a good thing because it's small and gets crowded. This restaurant is new but runs like it's been open for years. The young couple who own it are present and available. Smiling and making sure you are happy. Almost all of the pastas are made in house. The cacio e pepe is my favorite . We tried the vegetable pizza as an appetizer and it was truly the best we've had. Loaded with vegetables on a thin crust. Pistachio and hazelnut tartuffo for dessert. This was my second time there and won't be my last. Very reasonable. read more

Was completely shocked to walk into this place and see brother's Santo and Mario, formerly of the now closed La Piazetta Cafe in Plainview and East Meadow behind the counter. For me, it is a "pizza miracle". They are both hugely talented pizza makers and chefs. There may be many pizza places around this town and nearby, but their pizza is my favorite, the absolute best. Not only that, but I have had many entrees over the years that they have prepared - always fresh, delicious, perfect. They take pride in their cooking. What a gem! I first came to Flora's with 2 girlfriends for lunch. We all had salads and they were so fresh and flavorful. I then returned with my husband for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was packed but the service was excellent. I had cacio e pepe, a pasta dish I had not eaten since my last trip to Italy. It was delicious as was my husband's gnocchi with pesto sauce. We shared a bottle of Pinot Grigio and the bill was very reasonable. We have since ordered takeout pizza, also absolutely delicious. Reminds me of the pizza I eat in Italy, not the oil soaked, cheesey mess that is usually served in Italian American pizzerias. Ervis and his wife Gabriella are the wonderful owners. On Easter Sunday I was afraid I would not have enough food for my guests so I ordered chicken cutlets and pappardelle alla bolognese to add to the food I had also prepared. Ervis gave me more than enough food and even threw in a free pizza. So very kind of him! All my guests went home with doggy bags bc I ended up having too much food! If you love true Italian food, you must go to Flora's! Food is outstanding and the owners are so incredibly nice! You will not be disappointed. read more

I truly do not get the hype of this restaurant. We ate here the other night and were really hoping to like it, but it wasn't good. After living in Italy for 3 years, I had high hopes with all the feedback we'd received. First off, the eggplant was bitter and not fresh, which provided a mushy and unappetizing texture and taste. The pasta dishes were nothing special. The bolognese sauce needs much improvement - the veal alone did not cut it - needs more flavor. The pasta was also overcooked and not al dente. Lastly, when we asked for parmigiano reggiano, which they did not provide with our pasta dishes, we received barely a teaspoon each and that was it. Very disappointing. Maybe their pizza is better - unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch at Flora's for the first time today. We were pleasantly surprised. It's a small place with nice ambiance. They have a great lunch menu. We ordered a slice of pizza just to taste it and we agreed it's one of the best in Syosset. We then ordered from their Prix-Fixe menu. We ordered the Zuppa Di Casa and the Caprece as appetizers. The soup was out of this world and the mozzarella di bufala was outstanding. My Mista with Grilled herbed Chicken was delicious even without salt as I requested and my husband loved his Milanese. To top off the lunch a slice of pistachio cheesecake (on the house for new customers- it was very light in texture. Yummy!! Of course we needed to order a cappuccino to round out the meal. We can't wait to go back and try their pizzas and other food on their menu. It's a great local restaurant and Ervis, one of the owners, was a great host. See you soon!!! read more
