It's in a great location, just a short walk from the Westin, with both indoor and outdoor seating. This spot was across from our hotel and after hearing great things we just had to try. We opted for a mid afternoon treat and we are so happy we tried. We got the Boston cream pie, which was more like a tiramasu with Boston cream. We were pleasantly surprised with it, it was unique and delicious. I got their seasonal iced peach cobbler chai with cream cheese foam and was blown away with the flavor. The chocolate chip cookie was also a classic, delicious treat for my toddler. Up until about 15 seconds before we left, this was a five star review. The pastries, the hot tea and the coffee were all top-notch. Can't say enough positive things. What changed, is that a homeless man walked in and began harassing an Uber eats driver. A staff member walked over to let him know. It's an Uber eats driver to try to calm down the situation. The homeless man started swinging his cane and at that point, I decided to intervene the homeless man swung his cane, hit an employee of flower bakery in the Head. And that's when I grabbed this came. I walked him outside and on his way he went. What surprised me is that the manager, nor any of the other staff at flower checked on the girl who had been hitting in the head nor did they react at all to the situation as it was unfolding. I don't have enough good things to say about this bakery. I originally only planned on going once to try it out, but found myself going back every day on my trip to try different items. Everything I ordered was just great, and really makes the decision to get coffee and breakfast at a local shop a no-brainer. We stopped here for breakfast as it was just a few blocks from our hotel near the Prudential Center. You can order online on one of the virtual screens or in person. We got a few sandwiches and we loved the taste and the presentation of the food. After you order, you get a number and they bring the food to you. I got a vanilla latte here and their yogurt bowl with granola. I thought that the vanilla latte was a bit too sweet for me and my friend and I both thought that their yogurt bowl was a bit cheesy (like a cheesecake-type of flavor--not bad but not great). I stopped by while waiting for a train back to NY out of Back Bay and was pleasantly surprised! It was the perfect spot to grab breakfast/lunch and was not too far from the station. I had the smoked chicken salad sandwich which was served in a delicious cranberry sourdough bread. The bread was very fresh and soft and had some crunch in it with some seeds they added to the bread. I also took home one of the sticky buns which was similar to a cinnamon roll but with some crunchy toasted pecans on top! Definitely recommend trying both of these if you stop by! Stopped in here for a quick bite and hot bev. It was so, so busy and there was no available seating. We had to stalk patrons (ashamed, I know) so that we could at least share 1 seat for two people while we eat. I ended up only getting an almond flour pistachio macaroon and a hot tea -- figured those would be good options if we ended up having to order and leave. Both were nice, no complaints. Quick service for a busy cafe. My first time at Flour and I thought it was a nice quick snack and drink. I got an Americano - it was hot and yummy - perfect for the cold weather. I also got a lemon ginger scone and it was really good! The lemon rind and crystallized ginger were apparent throughout and added yummy pops of flavor with each bite. For breakfast, I had a sugar bun brioche and pecan roll, both were delicious. For lunch, I ordered the tomato and fregola salad with chicken which was probably one of the best salads I've had in a long time. It had a combination of salty with the cheese, sweet with the corn and mouthfulness with the fregola. This is my second time trying Flour and my first time at this location and, let me just say, it NEVER disappoints. I got their egg sandwich, which I was informed is their best-seller, and I can definitely see why. The egg was a creamy, tender texture and the saltiness from the bacon paired perfectly with the creamy aioli, crisp tomato, and peppery arugula. Not to mention the soft texture of the delicious brioche bun! I highly recommend this sandwich for breakfast! It was also a pretty decent size for the price. Of course, I paired mine with a matcha which, though it isn't the best in the city, it's a pretty good contender and great to have alongside Flour's other delicious food. I would recommend asking for less sweetener, though. I will say, this location was pretty crowded and it was hard to find a table during breakfast time. But the workers are extremely sweet and fast serving. They even helped us find a place to sit! I've gradually become aware of this cafe that has a few locations in the Boston area, one very close to where I used to work but in kind of a funny place so I didn't know about it for the longest time. They're for sure one of the best ones in the area, especially out of places with multiple locations. Even my usual simple latte order, iced vanilla, is great from them. One time I was feeling adventurous and ordered this special honeycomb one with cold foam, which was a real treat. It was honey flavored with like sweet honeycomb pieces all on top of the cold foam and a drizzle as well. For sure a special, delectable latte order that really brightened my day when I had it. We stayed at the W in Boston and this location was within walking distance. Easy to get to and very mildly busy on a Monday morning at around 8:45am. There was a short line at the counter when we arrived which gave us a chance to scope out the beautiful baked goods on display. I ordered an oat milk latte, breakfast egg sandwich, and a sticky bun. The breakfast comes with choice of bacon, sausage, or ham. I got mine with bacon. The egg was more like a soufflé style- very tender and soft. It came on a soft brioche bun with cheddar, arugula, tomato, and a dijonaise. It was a good size, hearty, and (most importantly) tasted great. The sandwich was filling enough for breakfast so I ended up saving the sticky bun for later. I just didn't want to pass up the opportunity to try a sticky bun from here. I ended up saving it for the next day and it was still very fresh, soft, and gooey. I love the nuttiness and texture of the pecans. The goo definitely puts the sticky in sticky bun but it wasn't toothache sweet. As a baker myself, I truly appreciate the variety and execution of all their offerings. Hit this place twice on my Boston trip because there was so much stuff to try. From the baked goods to the sandwiches, it all looked good. The first time I went in was for lunch and got the smoked chicken salad sandwich. It's served on the thinnest slice of focaccia imaginable, but still holds up well. The chicken salad filling was tasty, but what really made it standout was the red grapes. I think it's supposed to replicate the crunch of red onion, but without the sharp bite. That sweetness of the grapes balances out well with the creaminess of the chicken salad. I also got a sticky bun, which was also delicious. On my second visit, I got the breakfast egg sandwich. Flour offers its own unique take on the breakfast classic by making it with an egg soufflé. It was a great way to start off my morning! With the constant flow of customers coming in and out, the staff was always friendly! So apparently there is a "thing" in Boston between Flour and Tatte resembling Mike's and Modern Pastry. One group swears by Mike's, another group swears by Modern. The only time I get into things like that is when we're talking Red Sox vs. Yankees. I'm just here for good food! Something you should also know about me is I am a big fan of Joanne Chang. Myers & Chang is in my Hall of Fame, and I especially underscore the importance of getting the desserts whenever recommending it. Thus, I was ecstatic when on a food tour I found out Flour Bakery and Café is her creation. The baked goods here are terrific! They are fresh, varied, unique, and my favorite thing of all: they are not overloaded with sugar! I fully appreciate that pastries do not exactly count as diet food. At the same time if it helps me feel a little bit better about myself while eating I will absolutely take it! To say nothing of the fact that too much sugar overpowers flavors. I also had a cappuccino on one occasion, and It had great strength and quality. Didn't take too long to get it either (Tatte, I'm looking at you) As for the service here, it is efficient and polite. During the morning rush they keep the waits very reasonable, and they've very fair prices considering location, quality, and portion sizes. Usually, I wouldn't go for the $11 and change avocado toast I can make at home. Boy, did I underestimate this elevated avocado toast! So happy we stopped in for breakfast. I had a latte which was good. Ordered the breakfast sandwich with sausage. I didn't like the sausage but the rest was good. A little too much mayo on it but still good. I had to try the sticky bun since I read about it and it did not disappoint. The staff heated it up for me and it was great. This has become one of my absolute FAVE local bakeries around the Boston area. And with 9 locations between Beantown & Cambridge, you're never too far away from one of their delectable bakeries! They top it with different herbs and oils than I've ever had and it was excellent - very savory and the poached egg on top is always cooked perfectly for that desirable yolk pop. But it's their roast beef sandwich that keeps me coming back - I can honestly say it's THE BEST roast beef sandwich I've ever had! The meat is soft and flavorful and it has lettuce, tomato, delicious fried onions, and the absolute BEST horseradish sauce I've ever had - just the right amount of horseradish burn - not overwhelmingly (where are my horseradish lovers at??? IYKYK hahaha)!! On my last visit, my friend tried their chicken tikka masala Naan sandwich and loved it! It smelled amazing too. They have tons of pastries - from sticky buns all the way to homemade pop tarts what??!! Their coffees are great too. Everyone talks about getting a Cannoli, but you are missing out if you don't run to Flour Bakery to get a slice of Boston cream pie. It was so delicious. The cake is light but flavorful. The chocolate topping is just the right amount to compliment the cake and cream filling. We paired this with a maple vanilla latte which was also very good. My husband tried a pizza slice and said it was very good, as well. But, the star of the show really was the Boston cream pie. As for the seating, there are plenty of seats inside and outside of the restaurant. You will be given an order number for which the servers use to deliver your order.
