We shared a bite of everything and it's pretty amazing how every single one was delicious because there's usually a few misses. For me the entrees were the highlight. --The linguini was cooked perfectly with plenty of shrimp and just the right amount of sauce --The duck and peach butter is such an ingenious combo and it's just the right amount of carb and protein to be filled even for a guy --The balanzoni is on the heavy side with a cream sauce. The mushroom is delicious and the wild boar meat is grounded and on the tougher side but no gaminess at all In terms of drinks, they're more spirit forward. I had a reservation for 4 and arrived on time. It was only 6pm and there were at least 5-6 empty tables with room for 4. I was shown to the bar for my group to sit at. When we asked for a table instead we were told they were all reserved. We tried to resolve this with the hostess and were only told to sit at the bar. The service after that was completely mediocre for pasta that costs $30 per entree. My alcoholic beverage was watery and mostly ice. Additionally we were the only people of color in the entire restaurant. Could it coincide we were treated so poorly and all the white people were seated at tables and not the bar? The staff was completely unhelpful. We spent almost $180 on dinner just for me and my husband. For that cost I expect better food and much better service. Located in the backlot of PRSC, this little pasta restaurant is one to notice. Not only is their pasta and bread fresh, the aroma from the wood-fired oven is simply intoxicating. They are situated right next door to Midwood Smokehouse (at the other of the parking lot is Amelie's), so excellent company in which to keep. During the Covid-19 pandemic they are doing their dead-level best to keep things moving forward while producing delicious food, albeit with a limited menu. Recently, we ordered their pan of lasagna which fed the two of us for several days. Seriously, what's not better later than lasagna warmed up, right? With the recommendations of our hosts, we ordered pasta dishes that were good but not great (to match the price). More importantly was a poor service experience. We started with drink orders. Wine showed up quickly and cocktails took a while to arrive. We ordered salads and bread to start. As is often the case with "team service", the salads were delivered by someone other than our primary waiter and he did not return to take entree orders until long after our salads were consumed, which was also when the bread arrived. After we finished our entrees, the waiter asked if we would like dessert and we requested the dessert menu. He never brought it. In frustration, in a mostly empty section of the restaurant at this point, we flagged him down across the room and asked for our check. My husband and I tried Flourshop for the first time last night. We had musician friends who provided evening entertainment and we went out to support them. We were concerned that it might be hot on the covered patio, but it was nicely shaded and lots of fans, so it was quite comfortable. My husband had the clams with linguine, lemon and wine sauce, and I had the Bolognese Pappardelle. I did not try my husband's dish but the Pappardelle was fantastic! I am dreaming about making it for this weekend. For dessert we shared the bread pudding with apples, walnuts and ice cream. Total win for that too. Honestly so confused by all the 5* reviews? The food looks decent in photos but our experience was pretty much the opposite. It started off great with the free bread + olive oil being the best thing all night. The starters we got were also good, including the croquettes and the butter lettuce salad. However...the pastas (which you'd expect to be the best) fell far short of what we were expecting. The squid ink pasta had some of the worst tomato sauce I've had, like worse than canned stuff you get at the store. Just super sour and lacked dimension. Plus the shrimp that came with the dish was over cooked and chewy. The rigatoni and balanzoni were okay, but nothing super special. The pork chop arrived to our table almost room temperature and the baked potatoes were cold. Flavors were fine but the fact that it was clearly prepared well in advance threw us off. Even the pastas weren't as hot as you'd expect something that was just cooked to be. Another thing we experienced was that the restaurant was out of a lot of the dishes and even ingredients in some of the dishes. For example our server explained the balanzoni wouldn't come with the mushrooms because they weren't in for the season yet. I get that things happen but it would be nice to have a substitute for the mushrooms because i'm sure they added a lot to the dish. I should have updated my review long ago. I've gone to Flourshop many times now and it's a hidden gem. They definitely worked through the issues I had on my first visit. Drinks are always innovative and delicious, the menu is not huge but it is diverse with pasta, fish and meats. Flavors are always tasty and they often take a unique approach to the familiar and usually in a good way. It's got a neighborhood feel with an energy that is strong yet unfrenetic. The outdoor seating on the side is designed nicely and you'll feel a world away from the parking lot, focusing more on the herb garden that supplies the tasty dishes you're eating. We need more unpretentious, local, yet somewhat elevated dining experiences like this in Charlotte. Disregard my early critiques. They figured it all out and now I love this place. :) read more

I really like the concept of sitting in front of the chefs cooking so you can see. It's really a great experience and your server right in front of you makes you feel like you are special. Incredible food, you can tell it's all homemade. The service was good but nothing too special. I'm giving it 5 stars mostly because the food was that good. To start they give you some bread lying in some olive oil and what I assume is salt and pepper and it is to die for! The bread is fluffy and delicious and I never knew olive oil and bread could be so good! For dinner we got the ricotta gnocchi & grass fed pork meatballs. The gnocchi was stuffed with ricotta and while the portion may appear small it was certainly filling. The meatballs were delicious, harder on the outside but chewy in the middle. The sauce was the best part in my opinion, it was slightly sweet which went nicely with the meat and cheese. We also got the Rigatoni, Joyce farms beef & pork bolognese. It was a good sized portion and had a great sauce to pasta ratio. The pasta was perfectly cooked. I highly recommend eating here! When you go be sure to make a reservation. When I went to make a reservation at the counter (on open table) they were unable to be booked but I think it might be first come first serve/ only available to walk ins. What a beautiful experience, with top notch service, good food and an inviting atmosphere. On a recent date night we decided to drop in Flourshop after hearing some good things. We arrived shortly after 5:00pm on a Thursday night and decided to enjoy dinner at the bar, which allows you to enjoy the open kitchen...which is one of my favorite things. We started with two glasses of wine, a nice 2012 James Creek Cabernet and were brought some fresh bread with olive oil and pepper. We started with the Salmon Belly, which was perfectly portioned for a starter and was so fresh! After the shared plate, we moved on to the Ricotta Stuffed Ravioli with Mushroom and a Fall Squash Puree. This was my favorite dish of the night. Fresh pasta, cooked to perfection, mushrooms with a light cream sauce. It was full decadence. We ended dinner with Coffee and Cider Ribeye with a Celery Root Puree. Cooked Medium it was good, but the Celery Root Puree was a little sweet for my liking and I also wish it as well as the steak was seasoned a little more. The overall evening was very night and I loved the wine, food and service. I will definitely be back soon since there were definitely some other items on the menu I want to check out. read more

The service was great! Drinks also delish. Loved the open kitchen concept. They follow covid guidelines but the chefs do not wear masks! Our night started off with drinks from the cocktail menu. Then had the burrata, bacon wrapped dates, and beef carpaccio. Hubby had the duck with brussel sprouts and I had the potato gnocchi with meatballs. I was really excited to come here. We loved the food and pasta at Customshop and it's the same owner. We ended up being disappointed with the food here. We started with a couple of cocktails. I got the blood orange spritz and my husband got something with gin and cucumber that I forget the name of. Both were delicious. The complimentary bread is to die for. For appetizers we got the Grilled UGF mushrooms and the House-Made Burrata. The mushrooms were just ok, they tasted pretty good, but were nothing fancy for mushrooms. The Burrata was amazing though. It was a great balance of flavors. For entrees we stuck with pasta since that's what they're known for and got the Bucatini and the Squid Ink Linguine a la Chitarra. We were pretty disappointed by both. The Bucatini was better, but both were incredibly small portion sizes and lacking in flavor. Our service was good. I really don't think the food is good enough to justify the price here. I wouldn't come back again. read more

Overall this was a very disappointing meal for myself and my guest. She ordered a Paloma and there was zero grapefruit in it. The drink tasted unfinished and like tequila water. She ordered another one thinking maybe she was served the incorrect drink. After an exchange with the server, it almost felt like she was made to feel like she didn't know what a Paloma was. She was charged for both of them even, and on top of that, she had to ask for a can of pineapple juice to even drink them. Just horrible customer service honestly. We were probably too friendly about the whole situation.... The food was also mediocre in our opinion. And one of the most annoying parts too is that I was given a non-serrated butter knife with my meal. It cut nothing obviously just mushed the food around. Super annoying honestly. The only positives were the appetizers. The burrata was great and my friend loved the olives. Ironically enough, those are the things that don't actually have to be cooked. read more

Trendy kind of place tucked back in the far corner of Park Road Shopping Center. I had reservations and was quickly seated however, I can see the wait time could be long if reservations weren't made. I was a little surprised there was no vegetarian options, per se, but we were able to take some sides listed for other entrees and make a vegetarian dish which turned out great. The mashed/purée cauliflower and the squid ink linguini were the top two things I mostly remember. Both were full of flavor and not something normally had. The Brussels sprouts and hanger steak were good but...just good. Well cooked but nothing to say much else about. The way the kitchen is positioned you can see the staff making the pasta and rolling it through the pasta machine. A nice little touch letting us know it actually is "made in house". read more

Fresh pasta made in front of you. Fresh baked bread. Attention to detail on every plate. Truly amazing 2. Wine list is top notch. They also have cocktails as well, and a selection of local beer. 3. Ambiance. Homey, welcoming, approachable. Pro tip: reserve seats at the bar and watch all the magic happen. We moved back to Wisconsin a year ago but made it back recently and this was the place we chose to have our date night while back. That should tell you something. Our server barely spoke past a whisper and was not knowledgeable about cocktail ingredients but was otherwise pleasant. The bread is not complimentary but well worth it; possibly the highlight of the meal unfortunately. The venison osso bucco was dry and did not have enough mashed potatoes to accompany it. The blackberry demi glaze was quite flavorful and very much needed to combat the dryness of the venison. The scallops were easily the worst part of the meal. Three diver scallops over a mediocre excuse for a corn succotash for $28 is the work of a greedy chef trying to maximize those profit margins. Long John Silvers could do better scallops. The chocolate mousse cake was fantastic. No complaints with that. The Evening in Istanbul was very balanced for a tequila drink and had a fresh, nutty, flavor. Highly recommend this for anyone considering tequila. Not a big wine-o so can't personally speak to the quality of the wines but I don't think this is a place you would go to because they have a rare bottle. Overall, the greater Charlotte area has 40+ local restaurants you'd be better off supporting. read more

Went to this restaurant for a dinner date. We ordered the chorizo croquettes as an appetizer. We were not very pleased with the texture of these. For entrees we ordered the crab and apple ravioli and the rigatoni beef and pork. I really enjoyed the rigatoni beef and pork. The restaurant does not have an extensive cocktail menu. We did not really enjoy the cocktails we ordered but I ended up ordering a classic margarita and that was good. GREAT playlist and very cute vibe. read more

I've been here twice, several months apart. All 3 of us were underwhelmed. The bread service just made me mad. Large chunks of cold bread on both visits- and we were the first cover of the night for our second visit. Not up to par for the $8 price. The pasta they served was undercooked. My agnolotti was not filled well, both times. The service was good, the atmosphere/ambiance is also decent though cramped inside a bit. Absolutely delicious! Came here for a dinner with coworkers after a week of year-end reviews, goal setting, and such. We came hungry and tired and all left very, very satisfied. On the random weeknight we went, our table of eight had two servers, who were friendly and knowledgeable and kept our glasses filled and our table cleared. We had both beer and wine drinkers at the table, and Flourshop had a wide enough selection to satisfy both groups, with a wide selection of reds that paired well with the meals and a good representation of local breweries available on tap and by bottle. It was a nice evening, so we enjoyed sitting out back, under the trellis. The interior looked perfect for an intimate meal, and the bar was equally inviting, but I think we had more room outside -- the tables inside looked a bit close together. The table shared a few starters -- the beef carpaccio, burrata (house made), and bacon wrapped dates -- all of which were ridiculously good. From what the waiters told us, these are fairly regular appetizer options, so chances are good they're available in some form or fashion most of the year. For the main course, several people went with pasta -- gnocchi with meatballs was the popular choice -- and a couple selected the duck, which was served with Brussels sprouts. My choice was a pork steak, which was cooked to perfection, with frites. We were all disappointed that we didn't leave room for dessert and have vowed to return to right this wrong. The Salmon Belly Crudo was delicious. The fish was tender enough to melt in your mouth and the addition of the blood orange gave it the perfect amount of citrus flavor. Yesss to the Chorizo Croquettes which were filled with chorizo and potato. The Lamb Sirloin was cooked to perfection in my opinion and was very tender. The Garganelli Pasta dish had amazing flavors. The Lamb neck was extremely tender and easy to chew - recommend ordering! However, as much as I liked the idea of pumpkin seeds in the Garganelli Pasta dish, it gave it a weird crunch that I was never expecting. I would order without if I got it again. Also, I might have to stop ordering Burrata. I'm always so confused as to why only two pieces of bread are served for a large plate of burrata, let alone a table of four... The fries that came with the Lamb Neck are not my style at all. They would have been hard to eat without the aioli. read more

Flourshop exceeded my expectations. I looked at the menu before going and saw the price and then thought it must be really good if it costs that much. And it was delicious. The restaurant is on the backside of the Park Road shopping center. It was a rare cool evening so we chose to dine on the patio. I was the last of my group to arrive but was quickly greeted by our server. She explained the menu to us and gave us suggestions. Also everything is made fresh when you order including pasta. To start we had the burrata and the croquettes. The burrata was delicious. It had a good consistency and topped with a savory pesto. I wish there was a pasta that came with that pesto. We were also served fresh bread and the smell was delightful as it came to our table. It was also on top of olive oil and herbs. It was soft and airy and some of the best bread I've had. For our entrees we each ordered our own but shared a taste with each other. It was all pasta for us. I had the gnocchi which came with meatballs. My friends had the rigatoni and the lemon ricotta ravioli. My gnocchi was perfect. The meatball was on the spicier side but I loved it, but the red sauce it came in was amazing, savory, herby and slightly sweet. It was so fresh and my favorite entree of the night. The other two dishes were good. I liked the lightness of the ravioli, but didn't taste the lemon kick it was supposed to have. The rigatoni texture was great, but I liked the sauce on my meal more.
