Welp...had a taco salad. This thing was as dry and tasteless as any salad I've ever been served. There was nothing enjoyable about the salad with the exception of the 4 or 5 avocado bites. I am not a fan of wasting food but could also not bear to eat the roughage with some beans and mystery chorizo...no tomatoes and no dressing were on the salad. I did have the lemon and olive oil cupcake, that was delicious! The pick up order with 8 drinks had no way to transport them other than 4 people each holding two drinks. They seem to do a lot of takeouts and between that and the cashier line it can get crowded in lobby. Food was fresh and delicious. Would like plain sparkling water as an option. Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 2/5 Second time arriving with friends, and the location and setting is beautiful! The flowerpots, wooden tables, and nature theme gave it a very homely vibe. Service was also amazing, the waitresses and cashier were all super kind and outgoing. However, the food was a little disappointing. Here were our orders: Sweet potato fries ($6) - 3/5 - very small portion, overpriced. It was not too bad, but my friend said it had a sour aftertaste somehow, despite being sweet potato fries. Avocado toast ($8) - 1/5 - NOT WORTH $8. Simply a piece of thin whole wheat bread from Aldi's with a spread of avocado and 1 egg cut on top with some lemon. There was no tomatoes, goat cheese, spinach, sauces etc. They charged $8 for a piece of toast and avocado and egg on it! Chicken yakisoba ($15) - 3/5 - A bit too salty, especially at the bottom. Chicken was grilled well, however as we reached the bottom, the oil at the bottom saturated all the noodles. For a restaurant that markets itself as healthy, there was quite a lot of oil and salt in this dish. There is also a lack of consistency, because the day we went before, there were a lot more snap peas and less oil. Chicken kabob ($15) - 6/5 - Saving Grace for this restaurant for me! The deconstructed chicken kabob was delicious. The chicken was seasoned perfectly right and the tomatoes and cucumbers in the quinoa hot my tongue just right. THIS DISH is probably the only reason I'll return, highly recommend. Overall: a bit overpriced, and food can be iffy. Service and location are great. Order any dishes just to try it out, EXCEPT the Avocado Toast. Unless they load that stuff up, don't pay $8 for just an egg and squeeze of lemon. read more

Very Good but not consistent. Depends on who makes it. One day you're missing an ingredient one day you get a lot of the ingredients or one day you get a very small amount of the ingredients. Wish they all made the food the same. Very frustrating to get your food home and missing something or have very very little of something. It's like I have to open my order before I leave to make sure it's correct. You pay 5 bucks to add chicken but they don't add the chicken. I've been to this location three times and the great quality food, vibrant atmosphere and friendly/quick service is so consistent. I ate at Flower Child in Frontenac, MO last week and loved it. I had the mac and cheese - could taste the parmesan - sweet potato fries and the cookie. All were exceptional. I recommended Flower Child to MO, AZ, and GA friends. Today I had the mac and cheese - what happened to the parmesan and what were those dark flecks - rice, and tofu. There was overwhelming pepper in the tofu. So. 1) Flower Child food can be great but is not consistent. 2) some dishes mention major ingredients and seasoning; some don't. I would like consistency. (You give your order and pay; get a number on a post; get your utensils and napkin; and seat yourself. Food is delivered to table. Workers are friendly, quick and competent. Visited on a Wednesday at noon. Line was out the door but moved quickly. Format is order at the counter and then sit, food is brought out. Self serve drinks and flatware. I had the turkey avocado club and it was really good. The dressing was perfect and not too much (I'm usually a dressing on the side person but this was well done so I was not sad I forgot to order dressing on the side). My friend had the miso crunch salad and said it was delicious. I already have my orders for my next 6 visits picked out because there were so many options that sounded great. I have been going to Flower Child in Newport Beach, CA for years and have always had great service there. Decided to try the St. Louis location and placed a takeout order, I arrived to the restaurant at the time that it said food would be ready. Server said it would be ready in a few minutes. Waited another 15 min and was late for work, they said it's not even close to being ready yet because they had several large orders. Had to cancel the order and they just wrote my name down and they said they'd try to refund it later when they had time. Who knows if it'll actually be refunded since they didn't get my credit card number or do anything formal. Nothing was done by staff to correct the situation or keep the customer happy. If they cannot handle large orders, they should limit how many orders they accept.... read more
