This place had a lot of hype and I had never been to any locations so I thought I would try it out, especially being vegetarian, I heard there were a lot of options. I went for lunch during the middle of the week and it was still pretty busy. The line was long. While waiting someone gave us a number to tell the cashier and she went and picked it a table for us. Convenient? Yes. Did I like the spot? No. You can choose to move but there are not many open options by that point. The food was really good. I had the avocado salad and it had a lot of avocado in it. But some of it was brown and very soft. The macaroni and cheese was also delicious. The menu is small and limited. I'm not sure if it changes with the seasons. Their drink selection is super minimal as well and could be more. Otherwise, I might try it again if in the area. read more

I used to love the food at Flower Child. Not having eaten here for a while and not at this location, I went with a friend for a girl's night out. We both got sick. It was weird to realize that we both got sick eating different foods here so we've concluded that Flower Child must be using the MSG equivalent called yeast extract in their dishes, or some other flavor enhancer. Such a disappointment. When we ate our 2+ a protein plates, there was nothing in common on either of our plates. She had chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli salad. I had tofu, sweet potatoes and cauliflower. Both of us thought our food tasted 'umami' during dinner, but within about 30 minutes after finishing we both were exhausted (like limbs made of concrete) and cranky and I had a mild sensation of my throat closing (I'm allergic to some yeasts and MSG). Clearly an allergic reaction for both of us after the uber-tasty vegetable dishes. I would bet on it being 'yeast extract' or something similar as a flavor enhancer and welcome a comment/response from Flower Child to explain what's in their food that did this to both of us eating completely different foods at their restaurant. Until we know what made us feel like utter crap after eating dinner here, we won't be back. Life is too short to have an immune response to one's dinner. read more

I ordered my food online. They are quick and efficient. I got the same thing as always and it did not disappoint! They have everything ready as I ordered and bring it out as soon as I pull up. I like to eat a half for lunch and save the rest for dinner. It's the perfect amount. Always filling and always efficient! The one thing that I would improve is to make sure to provide plastic utensils in the to go bags as they often don't give any. The mac was actually very good with a nice silky cheese. If I had to deduct anything was that I wanted more so I ended up eating the mac that she didnt eat. I was skeptical at first because I don't really like veggies but surprisingly ate the entire thing. Who knew a salad could taste so good. Fresh quality ingredients and flavorful dressing. Their mango sencha iced tea was so good. It's unsweeten with subtle notes of mango which was perfect. I brought my husband back for the second time 2 days later and he also loves it. He tried the Mother Earth Bowl with steak. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. The only negative I would say is the portion size and the price. We were unfortunately still hungry afterwards. The experience was wonderful from the beginning, we were greeted in line by a vivacious young man who explained FC's concept and also recommended some faves too! Although it's a big place with tables everywhere, I have always found a table. (They also have outside seating). Yum! From the second we walked in we were greeted with smiles. The team was helpful explaining the menu to our group. I ordered the shrimp with my 2 sides being gf mac n cheese and broccoli- all delicious. My husband enjoyed the steak - cooked to perfection. My sister got the glow bowl and raved about it. For dessert I had the pudding with almond and coconut on top and it was delicious. The lemon cake muffin my sister loved as well. I recommend starting with their hummus app too! FIVE STAR all the way!! Only thing that I can say that isn't perfection is they are a little big pricey but you are paying for QUALITY food so it's worth it!! I like it. A solid choice for a trendy, hip restaurant with food that both tastes and feels good. Dropped by late with the husband, and he got the Mother Earth bowl with steak while I got a chicken entree and picked the broccoli and mac for the sides. We also ordered two strawberry kombuchas which we were handed before sitting down. Once seated, I got to really scope out the place. It's a cute restaurant, love the fresh style. The open kitchen is entertaining and adds an element of finesse. There's also an outdoor area with heat lamps if it isn't too chilly. We chose indoors because I don't do cold lol. Now, food took a bit to come out. I was a little disappointed at the temperature of my chicken and broccoli. Despite having just been brought out, the chicken was barely lukewarm and the broccoli was in the same state. Luckily the macaroni and cheese was warm, and it ended up being my favorite part of the dish (doesn't have a weird texture at all despite being gluten-free). The flavor of the chicken was good, and I liked the lemon sauce and breadcrumbs on the broccoli. I just wish it were more warm. For my husband's meal, he was more skeptical. He's a bacon burger and fries kinda guy, however; he ate every last morsel off his bowl. He kept commenting on how great it was. I took a bite myself, and had to agree. He got the better item on the menu, as every component to the dish worked well together. I especially loved the sweet potatoes. Shall I return? Yes. I'm a sucker for any kind of a trendy shop with overpriced healthy food (it is a little overpriced, not gonna lie). This is our favorite place to eat! The Gilbert location is far too busy so we usually get takeout instead. The vibes inside are immaculate though, and the cashier is super helpful. It really feels like they all know and love their menu. Some highlights are - for a place that is largely plant based, their steak is superb. Their beverages are fun and tasty, and they have really smooth tea varieties. The Mac and cheese? Just say yes. The forbidden rice bowl is hands down my favorite thing to eat there. Add steak if you really want to burst into orbit. Down sides - I get pieces of papery garlic peel in my potatoes all the time sadly. Probably like 1/3 of the time. Still eat it though. Not a lot of variety in their vegetable sides if you get a plate or something that comes with a side. The Moroccan sweet potato soup has too much of the Moroccan spices, so it's almost like dessert and less savory than I typically like. There's also a butternut squash soup they offer that is a very weird combination of sweet and savory that I can't say I enjoyed. Still giving 5 stars because it's honestly the best. read more

I think this location took a little time to get off its feet but my most recent orders have been excellent and the same quality I've come to expect from the central Phoenix location! After the first bite the contents of mine slid out the bottom so it quickly became a mess. But it tasted doing, especially the avocado hummus. When we arrived it was a little awkward figuring out how it all works. You can't order til you have a table number and not a lot of room for people to wait for numbers.
