My lash perm here was subpar especially as they are $20 more than everywhere else. I expected the results and service to be top notch for the pricier service. My smaller lashes got bent under the roller and so when they grew out they were all crooked and bent funny. It looked terrible and all you can do is wait it out. I had much better results from other places that cost less. Also the technician's hands smelled like garlic and she had a runny nose the whole time. It made me cringe and hope that I wasn't going to get sick since they don't wear gloves while they do this. Will not go back here. read more

Another unpleasant feeling was when I arrived at the salon 15min early for my 3:30pm appointment and I didn't get attended until 3:45pm, 15 min late. I have been to Flutter about four times for brow shaping The first three visits were great, though it is pricey. Now they have a dog in the salon, and the person doing my service would hold the dog, work on me, hold the dog again and then work on me more. She would wash her hands or use hand sanitizer, but the dog smell was very strong. I felt sick to my stomach and rushed out even though I wasn't satisfied with the brow shaping. So, if you love dogs and don't mind paying a little more, this is the place for you. But if, like me, you don't want to leave smelling like someone else's dog, go elsewhere. I will not be back. I will say that the parking is very convenient, right out in front. read more

I have been going to Flutter Lash for my lash perms every 7 weeks since 2012. Although Linda, the bright and friendly lady at the reception, only sees me every other months, she knows what I do for a living and inquires how I'm doing. For my lash perms I only see Iggy who is the "master lash artist" and owner of the salon. Flutter is one of the maybe two reputable places in the city that offers lash perms. I came here once so far. It was comfortable and the lashes turned out pretty well. My only issue was the price, which was higher than other places. I figured they are in a main area on Clybourn and have a large shop, so maybe they have to charge more. Then I decided to try another place, a popular lash studio where I paid significantly less, and here's what happened: At this cheaper place, she ended up using too much glue, or just didn't know what she was doing, and glued several lashes together, and put multiple individuals on just 1 lash to "build them up," and it ended up really uncomfortable and damaging my natural lashes. She also got glue in my friends eye, which ended up with an emergency visit to an ophthalmologist, pointed tweezers to dig the glue out of the inside of her eyelid, and 2 kinds of antibiotics. Another thing I noticed about the "other place" was nothing was changed as far as the neck rest or bedding I was lying on. The point is, I am going to go back to Flutter. I don't want to risk damaging my eyes or ruining my lashes to save money. They do a good job. They also carry all the accessories you might need, Xtreme brand, and I got the eye makeup remover and some eyeliner. I have gotten my lashes done in different salons in Chicago and LA, and once you get them, you will like them very much. My advice would be keep your eyes dry for 48 hours afterwards, don't touch them other than to gently brush them when needed, do not put mascara on them, and try not to get water in your eyes as you cannot rub them-- wash your forehead and around your eye area with a wash cloth. Also try not to sleep on your side where the pillow would be rubbing your lashes, or you will lose some. I get a fill-in every 2.5-3 weeks, you cannot go much longer than that. read more

Miyoshi has been my eyelash provider. She does a wonderful job, great calm personality and is very detailed. I have tried other lash places around, however either they start to get sloppy after the first visit or load my lashes causing breakage of my natural lash. After having some issues with getting lashes from other places that kept falling off after 4 days I decided to come into Flutter to solve my lash problem. The staff is very friendly and very well informed on all things lashes. I decided to go with a lash perm since my natural lashes are pretty long but fall stick straight. No matter how many times I use a lash curler they always seem to fall by the end of the day. I absolutely loved the results. Wished I had done this years ago! Then I also decided to compliment just the corners of my lashes with extensions and get the cat eye service. Though the services are on the pricey side they are certainly worth it since they seem to be the most informed in the Chicago area. Maddie was super nice and super fast with the application of Xtreme lashes. Everything was done in a clean matter without glue in my eyes or pinches to my eyelid. Only 4 stars since I had thicker lashes (thicker at the base so I had more of an eyeliner look) applied at another studio before.
