    [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun place for an alumnae H-APP-Y Hour.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great turnout to support my alma mater and connect with collegiate classmates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of trays of appetizers. Fried pickles. Fried cheese curds. Bavarian pretzels and cheese. Nachos. Tater tots. Wings. Perfect snacks. (Although it took a while for them to bring out small plates). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of places to sit at the bar, high top tables or regular tables. Nice to have a large space sectioned off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had a variety of mocktails. Mint mojitos. Virgin margaritas. Cranberry mules. Thanks to the busy bartenders who accommodated special requests and modifications. Decent sized parking lot was available. Street parking also an option. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun place to meet for an alumnae happy hour.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    It was a cold and super rainy night, and I needed to eat somewhere that is "somewhat" close to the grocery store. I had previously tried to come here months ago, but it was closed due to your typical busted water main that forced them to close until it was repaired by the city. It was definitely worth the wait! We were greeted with a smile by the hostess, who ended up also being our server. We jokingly told her that we wanted to sit outside, and she said that was great, but she wasn't going to be our server if we did. While some may have been offended by the response, we actually thought it was funny because it was a smarty comment to our smarty request to sit outside since it was cold and rainy out there. Perhaps on a nice day, we will sit out side. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Surprisingly for a Saturday night, the place was not very crowded, which was fine by me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I started with the Old Fashioned for a drink and the chicken flautas. The flautas were tasty! They came with a side of guacamole, queso and green salsa. For my meal, I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos, which came with 2 tacos. The portion was just right and the flavor was great! My husband ordered the hot dog and he said it's one of the better hot dogs he has had in a while. We topped it off with the churros for dessert, but honestly we were getting full at that point. The churros, while not the best I have ever had, they were pretty good. They came with a caramel sauce on the side. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is spacious, clean and has a huge outdoor patio, so we are looking forward to coming here again soon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Great place for a burger! I got the 12 oz. It was nice and juicy. Decent size menu with a good variety to choose from. Next visit I'll try the Brussels sprouts, club sandwich, fried chicken sandwich, or green chili burger. It all sounded good! Ate at the bar and the service was fast and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has a sports bar vibe to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also a great outside patio that accepts dogs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Feel like pickle ball? PKL Social is right next door and shares the same bar and kitchen. Bar menu looked good, but I didn't see Bloody Mary's. I didn't ask if they had them, but I was thinking that might have hit the spot.

    Really good, well executed food! The menu was simple American fare but sometimes that's exactly what you need. I felt that the ingredients were very fresh and seasonal, so my chicken sandwich felt like it was made with high quality ingredients. The batter on the chicken also felt reminiscent of Popeyes spicy chicken, and I loved that. The restaurant is in an area currently undergoing a facelift. There's a new pickleball joint next door and some storefronts across the street. There's a parking lot as well so it's fairly accessible.

    We did not expect this. The place looks very laid back. It's one of the best New york steaks I've ever had. They have steak night on Thursdays, and I got one of the two last ones for the night. Great drinks and absolutely cool ambiance. Great place for sports watching. Our service was fantastic and amazing overall value.

    Arrived on Sat at noon for lunch Reviewed business online first and also to scope out the parking situation since some places in Houston/Heights/River Oaks don't have private parking. Although they stated they had a huge parking lot it really is only about 60-70% marked and usable (see pics) They do not have entire lot marked with parking spaces and really need to have it redone as the spots they do have are very small and my small suv barely fit between the lines. A full size truck or suv would not fit between the marked lines but would still be able to park. When you walk up to bldg they have a huge outdoor space with tables, multiple tvs, covered and uncovered seating, fire pit and allow dogs which is pretty cool. Inside is a large open space nothing special with a few tvs on the wall near small bar area and music playing low as back ground noise. We were seated quickly and the waitress greeted us promptly and answered our questions and brought us waters. We ordered 3 items, 2 FM 8oz burgers and a brunch item chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns. All the food was very good tasted great. Here are 2 odd things in my opinion and it wasn't a deal breaker but I may not return next time when want a really good burger. First when you look at the menu it states FM burger 4oz or 8oz, now I ordered the 8oz (1/2 lb burger) and was expecting a single 1/2 lb patty on a large bun. What I received was a small bun with two 4 oz pattys so basically it was a small double cheese burger! The smaller bun didn't hold all the ingredients well and is hard to hold and the double patties makes it a little harder to eat. A single 8 oz patty on a larger bun would be so much better. They need to fix the menu to state you can order a single or double but not have it read as if you were going to get a single 8oz patty. The other thing is they don't have sweet tea! I know it's not mandatory to have it but 90% of restaurants in Texas have sweet tea. Waitress did offer regular tea and sugar packets. I say if your gonna have regular tea then you need to have sweet tea also or don't have any tea at all. They have cokes/soda in cans so they could stock Arizona sweet tea as an option if they don't want to have to make sweet tea. Overall the waitress was great, service was great, the place has a cool vibe and laid back, not to noisy and we were able to have a conversation without yelling. I will return for a brunch meal or other item but not for a burger. I really love a great Burger but was disappointed with the FM 8 oz burger.

    Good experience for my first visit! They have a nice outdoor patio that is covered with lots of TVs and heaters. Indoor space is pretty nice as well. Service was great - food and drinks came out freaky fast. I got the FM Club which was shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato on bread and got a side of tots. Decent quality and price! I would come back for sure!

    The food was just okay nothing special got a grain bowl but it was more like a salad with some grains on top . like i said nothing special . The music was loud so that wasn't great but the place is cool on the outside and the greats are yummm

    I can't believe I live so close and have never been here before! After a birthday disaster with The Toasted Coconut, these guys stepped in to rescue my birthday plans. They have a huge patio with plenty of seating both covered and uncovered, great happy hour specials, a solid cocktail list, and the Harvest Salad (excellent green goddess dressing) was one of the absolute best salads I've had in a long time. I've craved it and gone back a few times now just for that salad. We tried their brunch and the chilaquiles (my favorite) and chicken fried steak was really good. The drink prices are reasonable and they have a mimosa carafe special for $18 which serves the various options for juice on the side so you can make your ideal ratio, which I really appreciate!

This is going to close next Sunday and turn in to a gas station, which we literally don't need in this corner location of Heights Blvd and Washington Ave. I made a reservation while I was in Boston just in case. Our friend had called 2 weeks ago, and they told her there wasn't anything open because they were closed Sundays. They're not closed Sundays according to their hours of operation online. Weird. Everything started fine. Our server checked on us regularly. She couldn't answer any questions about the menu. She said she was new and didn't know it. Why would you hire a server who doesn't know the menu on the last week of service? That doesn't make sense. She repeatedly said that the whole time like how people say they couldn't do something because they were short staffed. The chicken fried chicken and chicken pot pie were solid. That was the entrees we chose, and some of us ordered a chicken pot pie to go. Apparently, we ordered the last few ones. Interesting because they just opened at 11 am, and we ordered to go right after the deviled egg appetizers, 15 minutes from opening. She tried to close out our tickets without asking about dessert. We had to tell her we weren't finished and wanted to order dessert. When it got to the dessert, we wanted the peach bread pudding and Texas sheet cake. They didn't have the cake, so we said ice cream. We thought it would pair well with the bread pudding. Then she said she doesn't know the ice cream flavors since she's new. We cut into the bread pudding thinking there might be some sliced peaches baked within, and the edge of the container was hot, but then one of our friends said the bread pudding itself was cold. It was cold. I remember it being warm with brulee'd peaches on top. The table next to us also ordered the same dessert, and they had peaches on top. Disappointing. She said the kitchen could make us some peaches. We said no. It's too late. The texture was gluttonous without the sauce and peaches. At the end of our meal, we all agreed it was a let down. Now we need a redemption brunch. Maybe it's for the best they're closing this Heights location.

We informed our server that we were planning to order from the EDH menu. The EDH menu was listed on a small card on the table. We asked about menu items and double checked to make sure the deal included all three courses. The only stipulation communicated by our server was that the dessert course did not include the Skillet Baked Brie. I started with a glass of rosé. Because it was a Tuesday, they had happy hour all day. The rosé was very good. 1st Course: We shared the Crispy Artichokes and The Famous Fried Cauliflower. Both appetizers were good, but we really enjoyed the artichokes! They were so flavorful and I enjoyed the breading. The waving of the Bonito flakes on the cauliflower was cool. 2nd Course: I had the Auberge Burger and it was really good! It had onions and truffle aioli which I love! I preferred the Donut Holes, especially with the espresso ice cream. When it was time to close out, we could not find our server anywhere. We were under the impression that the EDH deal included three courses, however the server informed us that it's two courses (appetizer and entrée or entrée and dessert). We looked at the menu card on the table again and the server pointed to the tiny print listed at the top right corner of the card where it stated that it was a choice of two courses. Discrepancies can happen with what's published on the EDH website and what's printed on the menu in the restaurant, but it's frustrating because the two course stipulation wasn't clearly communicated by our server when we asked questions. Out of curiosity, I went to the EDH website today (3-22-26) to see if the menu was still up (it is). It lists all three courses and does not state that it's a choice of two courses. I'll give the business the benefit of the doubt that they weren't trying to bait and switch customers because miscommunications and misunderstandings happen. But it's a bit disheartening to see the business respond to customers in a passive aggressive tone. Clearly many customers were confused on the EDH deal, as it seems to have been an ongoing issue. I enjoyed my meal at the restaurant and I thought the service was good despite the confusion with the EDH deal. But after reading some of the owner's responses to customers and seeing a snarky IG story about the confusion over the EDH offer, it's left a bad taste.     Bar Buena was a surprise find after we participated in a cooking class at Sur La Table across the…read morestreet. After the byob cooking experience, we figured "why not!?" So we walked on over to this little speakeasy and were immediately greeted by the bouncer. On a Thursday night, it was quite crowded, but were able to find the last remaining seats at the bar. We were seated at the left end of the bar, which was nice because we had our own little "nook" away from the rest of the bar. Adjacent to us was the server station - the one server tending to the tables, Marilyn, frequently came by and we immediately befriended her. She gave us excellent recommendations and provided her opinion on several drinks. Robin was the bartender who took care of us throughout the night. She was super friendly from the moment we sat down and gave us stellar recommendations on food and drinks. She was happy to tweak a couple of their seasonal drinks to our liking, and even offered to mix other drinks that weren't on the menu. Fantastic service from Robin throughout the night. I started out with Tommy's Margarita - this was just their take on a classic margarita, nothing super special. I then ordered the Oaxacan Old Fashioned - think of an old fashioned made with tequila and mezcal in lieu of bourbon. I was a bit cautious about this one since I am not a fan of mezcal, however the smoky flavor was not very apparent in this one, which was a huge plus! I also got the Ardilla - very unique drink made with mexican corn whiskey, cocoa nibs, sherry, and a milk punch. I award this drink for most unique I've had in a while, definitely give it a try if you're up for something new. To finish, I had the Cariña - their take on an espresso martini made with reposado tequila. I really liked this espresso martini - it was a great way to finish out the night and I left feeling inspired to make my espresso martinis at home using tequila now! With the little room we had left in our stomachs, we tried the Pato Tinga Memela, which was duck leg (no bone) with beans and onions and cilantro atop a memela. I haven't had memela specifically per se, but consider me a fan. It is basically a mini "cake" of masa that is pan fried to a slight crispiness. An Oaxacan speciality, where else can I find these in Houston!? We also tried the Guacamole y Tostadas. The guacamole was unique in the sense that it was Oaxacan style, so contains pepitas, pickled onions, and queso fresco. The tostadas were super crispy and reminded me of how they serve guacamole in Mexico (rather than with chips/totopos). Fun fact is that this bar is owned by Goode Company. Next door to this is Goode Co. Cantina, so it's nice that they created an adjoining restaurant + speakeasy concept within the same strip. At one point in our visit, Levi Goode was standing next to us. We didn't know until after he left and Marilyn informed us, that that was THE man. Just doing a casual check-in of his bar. We really had a good experience at Bar Buena and look forward to returning. The food menu has quite a few offerings I wanted to try had I not come from a cooking class. We were also told that the seasonal drink menu was set to change shortly after our visit, so I look forward to trying these drinks!

The food here is amazing and wonderful. Small plates like tapas style. Trust me you will not be disappointed. All my friends who love to eat and a mix of different nationalities were amazed and impressed how good the food was in this bar. I hate giving this little gem away but it is worth it. I will definitely be back for more. We were having such a good time that I forgot to take pictures. Get ready for flavor town.
