This place is great! Came here for brunch, ended up getting lunch instead but the food and service were great. Started off with a carafe of mimosas (orange and grapefruit juice) and ordered the bread basket. Only complaint was the bread was slightly dry. It fell apart as you tried to eat it. My fried chicken sandwich was AMAZING. So crisp and juicy. Very moist on the inside. Didn't care for the coleslaw but the sandwich and tots were delicious. A great experience. I love this place. The patio is awesome to sit on during a nice day. It's huge, plenty of seating, cool and breezy. Plenty of vegetarian options, I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and street corn. The prices are already more than reasonable for the quality of the menu items but happy hour pricing makes it even sweeter. Service is always quick and very polite. I like this location more than the other location because the patio is so spacious. They got the drinks to the fastest I ever seen and food was right behind it hot and ready. So I've always enjoyed my experience here. They have a huge outdoor seating area to eat or hangout as well as a smaller inside space with tvs etc to watch events. I could honestly say the only thing I'd eat off that again would be the chips and queso and fried pickles (which are spears not slices). The wings were hot but I just didn't get off to em. I also ordered fried chicken dinner to go... and now this is really why I wrote this review. Everyone always rates fried chicken and I gotta say this one is like a 7.5. I know some people say it's the best but the batter is a certain type that I don't get off too. It's good fried chicken but it isn't GREAT. The max and cheese is CREAMY but doesn't beat Graces canal mac and cheese. Overall for a bar, they have really solid food options and if I come here I'm probably gonna eat. So I decided to stop in on a random chilly Friday night. What I loved is the location because it's easy to locate. I also loved the fact that they have a parking out that had plenty of parking. We were greeted by the hostess and manager who was coming from the patio with the ipad (waitlist). Was crowded so we had to wait for a table of 5, but roughly ~10 minutes 2. First vibe - awesome! The weather was so pleasant (a break from the normal Houston humidity) so a lot of people were siting outside. Music not too loud, but a great playlist. I can't imagine what this place looks like in a non-covid, summer atmosphere. Packed, I'm sure. 3. Time to table - you are asked to wait inside your car. And for a party of 5, it was around 10 minutes for a table inside. 4. Menu - It was national cheeseburger day so that's what we all got, had specials they were promoting on IG. We were a party of 5, sat indoors, and in total we ordered 1 appetizer, 5 entrees, and 6 cocktails. Our total bill came out to roughly $175 and we left a ~25% cash tip to our server. The main reason is the ticket times on our food. Specifically the main course, which was a 1-hour long wait from the time that we ordered. Our server offered us extra chips for our spinach dip appetizer, but by the time the chips came out, the spinach dip was cold. When we asked the server "how much longer would it be for the food," she promptly and understandably responded with "let me go check on that". At this point 45 minutes had passed from the time she took our order. My partner ordered the 3 sides special with his entree, but it did not come out with his entree. We asked our server, and she responded again with "let me go check on that." We received no table touches from a manager the entire time while we were at the table. I understand that there are situations beyond our control, but this situation of our wait time on the food could have been rectified or at least addressed by a manager. While I'm not sure if they were running at the mandated 50% restaurant capacity, this experience left us feeling that if and when they are back at 100% capacity, what would the service then be? While it is not our intent to negatively review any establishment that we visit, we do strive to be honest. We are not asking for anything, but an acknowledgement that this will be addressed and corrected for us and future guests. I also tried initially to contact management about this via their website, through an inquiry, but I received no response. 10. Cleanliness - Clean, all staff had masks, and the restrooms were clean for how busy it was. This is a nice sports bar. I've only been here a couple times but both times the food and service were great. The interior could use a little more decorating; it feels like a school cafeteria. Ah, I gotta first say that despite my personal 3-star average experiences, I *really* do like FM Kitchen. It's one of my go-tos for dinner, happy hour, and group celebrations (we hosted a friend's baby shower that was flawless). That being said, the dozen-plus times I've been there, food and especially service was hit or miss (or just an average experience, which is a-okay). What I love about FM in no particular order: it's dog friendly, onsite parking, tons of space inside and out, patio games, fire pits, patio heaters, open wifi. What's a miss: inconstancy in food and service. I love their brick chicken, especially the first time I ordered it. Second time it was unexpectedly smothered in BBQ sauce and I was low-carbing at the time, third time was dry, fourth time was just like the first. See an inconsistent pattern there? Sometimes it takes servers a while to refill drink orders, other times they are on top of it. Sometimes they're friendly and badass. Or other times they (ahem, she) won't take your drink order or put on the Rockets game until you start speaking to her in French. My last visit was a total miss. We were there for steak night but ended up closing out our tabs after one round and went to Presidio. Again, I like the place but man, it can be an unpredictable experience each time. As for the food, I'm a fan (when it's good). The mac and cheese along with the queso are consistently a hit amongst friends and I recommended them as musts! The mac tastes like it's made with the jalapeno queso (huge plus) and the hefty "side" portion is well worth the $5. I eat it as a meal. The burgers are good too. I personally don't mind the size - I mean, it's less than $6 for a handmade quality burger. Want cheaper? Go down the street to Jack in the Box. Overall, I'm a fan of FM Kitchen. $5 select wines and cocktails on tap (happy hour is Mon-Fri 3-7pm, Sat 11am-6pm, Sunday 6pm-close); Taco Tuesdays ($3.50 tacos that are high quality, think shrimp, ribeye or chimichurri chicken); $5 wine Wednesdays. Overall, a pretty average brunch experience - thus the average rating. Pros: Ample parking, shaded dog-friendly patio, reasonable(ish) prices for Houston. Cons: Very mediocre chilaquiles (if you like yours on the soggier side, you'll probably like them better than I did), OK carajillo, very okay service. Not sure if they assign servers to sections or if it's a free-for-all, but it took a while to get a food order in. The food then came out quickly, but somehow my food was warm, not hot. I'm assuming it was made first and sat for a while before my friend's dish was finished. Probably wouldn't return for brunch with all the other good Houston options out there, but maybe would for happy hour. This was going to be my first time going with my wife and kids and I was actually looking forward to it. However, I felt extremely prejudiced against due to being cuban. I respectfully asked my server if they can put on a specific game on the TV. We sat outside and it was not full at all. The server came back out said they cannot change it because they need to show 4 different games at once. However, 3 out of the 4 TVs were playing the same exact game!! My autistic child was having a bad moment and they refused to help us or accommodate us to different area of the restaurant. Right after, we got up and started to leave when I over heard another server tell a table "I was able to change the game for you, is that the correct one?". We started off with 2 tacos a piece. My friend and I both had the steak tacos, mine on corn and his on flour. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. The red and green salsa gave the tacos a nice little kick! They were sooooo good, we order 4 more lol (2 tacos a piece), the refried beans were spread on the bottom of the tortillas. Not really a bean eater but they were gooood. The margaritas were good too, we had shots too lol. Lastly, our server Bri was awesome! She was very personable and knowledgeable, she initially forgot to tell the cooks to make my tacos on corn. She apologized and it wasn't a big deal to me because I had her just to bring me some corn tortillas without having the cooks remake the tacos! About 2 margaritas and 1 shot in lol, I got heartburn. After checking out FM Kitchen and Bar three times, I have a comprehensive review for y'all. All three times I've stopped by have been for dinner. Two on a weekend (one of them being during the Astros World Series run) and once on Taco Tuesday. Looking at things cumulatively, the service has been average. The most recent time was a bad experience as our waiter forgot to put our dinner order in. As a result, it took more than an hour to receive our food! The waiter was new and the manager ended up comping our meal and offering us free dessert. A nice touch to turnaround a bad experience. There are a lot of things I like about FM Kitchen. It's located right off of Shepherd in The Heights from the chef of Triniti. There is a small parking lot which can get busy but there is also free parking on the side street adjacent to the restaurant. They have a good-sized patio with picnic-style seating and games like ping pong. Good amount of TVs inside and outside. The inside is an open-air concept so it's great when the weather is nice. I've tried a variety of items. They're known for their burgers which are Shake Shack-esque. Similar bun and similar size so don't expect a hefty burger. Order two if you're hungry. The burgers and other sandwiches don't come with a side included so you have the order that separate. I've tried both their fries and tater tots with cheese. Solid all-around. I've also tried their chicken fried steak and their pulled pork taco, ribeye taco, and elote on Taco Tuesday. On Tuesday's, the tacos are 2 for $8 and the margaritas are $5. They also have happy hour all day on Mondays. Next time, I've got to try their wings! This is a great spot for a Sunday fun day or somewhere to watch the game and enjoy some good food. read more

Wow that is all I can say about my most recent and FINAL visit. I showed up at 9:25 am on a Sunday since Yelp reported them open at 9 am. It looked partially open with people on the inside setting up, the outside all setup with tv's on NFL game day shows, but all the chairs were still flipped over on the inside tables. I was waiting for a friend I was meeting there so I had to wait anyway, if the staff was running behind. I decided to duck my head in and asked if they were open. The employee in the Ravens polo shirt responded that they open at 10 am. I said okay, but just to let you know Yelp said 9 am. He said in kind of snarky way, "we can't change Yelp and you should have checked our website." I left, but as someone that relies on Yelp T to be accurate, I decided to inform him that was an incorrect statement. I stuck my head back in and said "by the way you can change the Yelp times" and I left. Didn't think anything of it. I was in the parking lot when he comes out and starts castigating me for "trying to ruin his day by saying what I said." I told him I had no idea what he was talking about, I just was letting him know that you can change the Yelp site for times so nobody comes when they are closed. I then said he was being ridiculous that he would follow me out to the parking lot to give me a piece of his mind. He then went onto mock me how I told him that they could change the hours. He then told me I was never allowed back to his restaurant/bar. I told him no worries, I wasn't planning on coming back. I used to like this place, but all it takes is one terrible employee that has no concept of hospitality. I hope he found his safe place and was give some play dough, so he didn't give bad service to his customers all day complaining about the mean man that hurt his feelings.... Never been impressed with the service at this place but the food was decent, they used to open early for breakfast, and the patio was good. Well, definitely never coming back and encourage you not to give them your business either.
