Great advice and service from FMD and Homer. Super happy with the new floors.

DO NOT BUY FROM FMD DOORS!!!!!!!!!! If I could give them less than one star I would for sure!!! We bought a home and did a complete remodel inside. We purchased two custom etched/carved glass doors from this company FMD Doors. One door was a pantry door and the other was an entry way closet door. We added hidden hinges for the sleek classy look because the doors were custom. We also bought custom baseboards and door frames for the entire house from them as well. When we got our doors the door knob holes had been drilled on the wrong side of the door. Also the hinges were on backward thus making the door open in the wrong direction. Our great contractor was able to flip the pantry door, remove the entire door jam and make it work. The Glass entry door could not be flipped leaving the carved detail in the glass design inside the closet. We call FMD and explained what happened and they were rude and insisted that we made the mistake and it was our problem. They offered no help or resolution to the problem. The sales person told us we were on our own. We spent thousands of dollars in this business purchasing their products and this was the service response we got. I would not recommend this door company to anyone. In fact if you are ordering custom doors stay away from this place. FMD Doors will not help you after they get your money. If your custom order arrives damaged or incorrect you will not get any help or resolution. FMD Doors is the worst door company I have ever felt with and I will never ever use them or recommend them to anyone. Stay away from FMD Doors unless you wand screwed up products with no recourse. FMD Doors has terrible customer service and they refuse to admit they messed up our doors. Forget about this place if you want quality custom work and a business who stands behind their products. My contractor will also be spreading the word about FMD Doors. Ali sold us the doors and he was who we called back and got the horrible customer service from. I plan on calling Michael Finney from 7 on your side and see if he can help us out. For now all I can do is warn other people who might consider buying anything from FMD Doors. I would not recommend buying custom order doors from them. They do not seem to have a good relationship with their supplier, Therma-Tru, They were not able to help with timely delivery. When we reached out they asked us to call the manufacturer directly. Their sales people are friendly but not effective in getting things on time. read more

This review has been a long time coming! Remodeled our vacation home and needed some new flooring throughout. My husband and I had been shopping a few different distributors for quite some time before we came across the FMD. Not only does this distributor have many options for great prices and great quality, but the staff was a pleasure to work with. A woman name Vanessa in particular was very helpful, knowledgeable and so nice throughout our whole process. She made us feel very comfortable from the minute we walked in and continued to be patient and answered all of our questions and concerns. She showed us tons of great options which included wonderful quality stone. I am so pleased with my services at FMD! My husband and I worked with Homer on our bathroom remodeling and carpet replacement. Let me first say that their price is very reasonable if not cheaper than other places (i.e. Abbey's Carpet and S&G Carpet). We were on a time crunch, and Homer and his team were able to finish our carpet and bathroom in 2 days! I really appreciate his workers staying til 11PM to finish the job. They were so friendly, and took care of our house fairly well. Homer would call and follow-up with us on the status, and answered every questions we had in a promptly manner. My husband and I have been shopping for different contractors for our flooring and bathroom needs, and I'm so happy we drove by this place. I'd recommend all my friends and family to this place. FMD has a huge selection of flooring, moulding, and doors, and the pricing is very competitive. To top it off, the service is excellent! I purchased baseboard, crown moulding, and doors and am very satisfied with my purchases. A friend who is a local contractor told me that this is where the pros shop. The thing I found interesting is that although "the pros" shop there, they give excellent service to the "homeowner customers" too. Regarding the crown moulding and baseboard - they let you return any unused full pieces, which is a plus because it can sometimes be hard to estimate and some other stores do not have that convenience. read more

FMD doesn't care at all about customer service. I was referred to FMD by my general contractor. It took me 3 weeks to get FMD to even generate an initial quote - phone calls, emails, voice messages, talking to a real person - nothing really moved the needle. What finally did it is my husband going out to their showroom in person. When I finally got the quote, I send them a list of corrections that needed to be made. When I still hadn't received a revised quote 2 weeks later I realized this is not a vendor I want to work with. No one ever returned my phone calls or even replied to emails. If responsiveness and timeliness are important to your project, stay away from FMD Distributor. read more

I really enjoyed working with Homer at FMD distributors. He is very honest and straight forward. I purchased over 1500 sq ft of Brazilian Walnut Engineered hardwood floor from him. From that time of the purchase and throughout the project, he is very pleasant to work with. He gave the best price on the hardwood floor - which is 30% cheaper than what the wood guys opposite to his store quoted me. During the installation, we ran out of wood several times. Every time I call him up, he would order and get the wood ready for me within a day. One day he even got one of his delivery guys to deliver the boxes after the work hours as I needed it very badly. I really liked his honesty and the passion he shows in delivering best customer experience. I just read several of the mixed reviews for FMD and must say that my experience has consistently been fantastic. I had worked with Sam there last year with fantastic results on flooring and doors, and after shopping around for a deal, these guys not only were willing to match it, but actually beat it. I used their installers and the result is top notch, as I would expect given their decades in business. I am writing this review because they deserve it. I think the Diane C. review is particularly unfair, apparently after she lost her small claims case for having had a door incompetently painted, it split, and they proved she was at fault. (He probably didn't prime paint it first, right?) Again, FMD is my top choice for home finishes, having done doors, flooring and also mantels for me now, all excellent. I wish there's a choice to give negative star! I'm not a professional contractor, hence visited store to look at some balusters and asked few questions. The owner person (Homer) was extremely rude and didn't want to explain or provide any recommendation. He looked very irritated and looking at me like I'm wasting his time. Later, I got a quote on some doors and their pricing was not any better than Home Depot. Don't waste your time. Home Depot staffs are much knowledgeable and friendly. read more

Stopped in to price some hard wood flooring for a "do-it-yourself" project. Wife saw what she thought was the perfect product, and it was on sale for more a dollar a square foot less expensive than closest competitor. We returned a week later to purchase the product figuring that even if it was no longer on sale it would still be the least expensive option. Not only did they honor the sale price after the sale expired, but I have returned almost a year later to purchase more of the same flooring to do other rooms in our house and they continue to deliver the product at the same price I paid for the first shipment over a year prior. Secondly, when I originally purchase the wood, it was going to be installed on stairs, but changed our mind and used the wood for an upstairs hallway. After almost eight months, FMD gladly exchanged the un- needed bull-nosed trim we bought for the stairs and traded it for the trim and t-moldings we need for the hallway. They are often crowded and most of the time you need to wait your turn for service, but the wait is far less than any of the big stores. The service I have received time and time again is exception. Won't go anywhere else. read more

An FMD driver shouted out to me on Chambers Street this afternoon and made kissing sounds at while I was walking to my office. This is harassment and reflects incredibly poorly on the company, especially when that drivers was on the clock and in a company vehicle. I realize that, to men who are NOT on the receiving end of this kind of harassment multiple times on any given day, my reaction might seem overblown; please understand that being subjected to this behavior with great frequency gives women like me the sense that we cannot even exist in public space without men making us aware that we are being watched and that we not even being afforded basic human decency or compassion by men like this driver. read more

I wish I could give them less than one star. I was referred to them by my contractor. He said: "They will take good care of you, just tell them you referred by me." When I approached their sales rep, called Amir, and told him I was referred by my contractor, he said in a very rude manner that we do not take care of anybody(!!!!). And he was right, because he did not show any professional behavior for the rest of the transaction either. I just miss Southern Lumber store in San Jose. read more

We are planning to replace all the windows in our house. Engaged FMD for a single window as a test case. We were charged $500 for them to come to the house to measure for windows, with the statement that if we ordered a window, the $500 would be credited against the price of the window, and it was when we ordered the window. We also had FMD quote the installation. After they visited our house, took measurements, and had an opportunity to assess the job site, we returned to FMD and ordered the window. At the time we ordered the window we also received the quote for installation. The window arrived, was delivered, and FMD called to schedule the installation. The day of the installation, FMD called again, and wanted payment upfront for the installation, and the price of the installtion had gone up by exactly $500, the amount we were charged for measurement. If we had been installing all the windows in the house, instead of just one, they could have easily buried the $500 charge likely unnoticed, but when it was a single window, their attempt to recoup the measurment charge stood out, easy to see. When we called them on the mysterious $500 upcharge on install, we were given a mealy mouthed non-answer. FMD also refused to send the install crew until without upfront payment for the installation. We were essentially ripped off for $500, and the installation was held hostage on prepayment. Not saying don't do business with these folks, but just be eyes wide open about how they conduct business. Not the way we like to conduct business, so we'll not trade with them again. We went around to at least 5 different places before going back to FMD because of Rick. We have been doing our own contracting since we got overly screwed by our A Hole. Rick has the patience and expertise that regardless of price got us to trust him. His price was less than the lowest we found and we never even told him. We needed some extra measurements to be done and Q came out to our house and while he wondered how we found the contractor who left us with such a mess he never flustered and has helped us tremendously. read more
