Great spot for late night eat! Sometime you don't know what is still open late into the night and you want to eat. This is one place you can drop in! If you don't want a whole ayce experience then there's a generous all day happy hour where you can order à la carte. Service was good. Beautiful space, well decorated

Incredible service and great ambiance. Went for my friends wedding celebration and was blown away with the quality of the meat. The tri tip was my favorite and their drinks were very good. Great place to splurge and have a great meal.

It's been a while that we've been to the happy hour at the SF location, we were looking forward to happy hour at this Bay St. location. Arriving at 5pm on a recent Friday, we advised the hostess we were here for happy hour and walked us to a table next to the bar. Kurmari and Sofia were our servers. Didn't realize that happy hour is all-day now with four $6 bar bites, $12 Picanha Burger, six $10 cocktails, four $8 wines and two $6 beers. We started out with a Passionate Caipirinha cocktail and a Xingu beer. Our food order: Brazilian Empanadas - four Picanha filled empanadas with a chimichurri aioli. The filling was tasty. Picanha Burger - one of my go-to. The thick burger on brioche with smoked provolone was moist and cooked medium as ordered. Ordered our favorite bar item, The Bone. It's a large beef rib with the beef cut off the bone into eight pieces. So tender. Comes with a chimichurri sauce. We also were served their tasty cheese bread and even got served tastings of grilled pineapple and honey cheese by the gauchos. It was a great happy hour visit and look forward to coming back since it's a lot closer to us than the SF location.

Absolutely delicious!! I didn't know what to expect as a vegetarian and I was pleasantly surprised. The salad bar alone was delicious! There was so much variety and freshness! The tofu was well cooked and the chimichurri added such good flavor! The experience was stellar and the vibes (even on a Monday night) were great! Our server was really helpful since this was a new experience for us.

Was just here yesterday afternoon. I used to come here alot and its been awhile. Started off by ordering some sangria but unfortunately they didn't have the ingredients to make it? Ordered a beef rib and filet mignon board. The beef rib was ok and i didnt see any salt on it. The filet mignon came out pretty much rare and i ordered it medium. I told the server and they took it back and returned with it the exact same way. Smh. They took it back one more time and then it looked a bit more cooked but it just tasted horrible, very bloody tasting. The server took if off our tab and was being as helpful as she could've been. If not for her service this review would have been a 1 star. Not returning.

The all day happy hour was a hit. It was a chilly day but we scored a table on Saturday for dinner. The waitress took a while to arrive, but when she did, she was the best. We got the beef ribs, yucca fries, spicy chicken sliders, and lobster cabbage tacos. The medium rib and sliced meat were amazing in taste and portion size. The warm Brazilian bread made me happy. The sliders were unforgettable, unfortunately. But we enjoyed the seafood tacos with sauce on the side. The hot yucca fries with Parmesan were good with the slightly tangy sauce. We also got a 90 calorie passion spritzer that was not bad. And we had leftovers! Would come back

I think this is the longest time we stayed in a restaurant because of our long wait time to be served the meat :-( Food is good, they have good sides and the place is clean but I just don't feel like it's worth the money we spent bec we did not have our fill... been to several churascaria places & specifically Fogo de Chao in SF, but this one is different

The happy hour at Fogo is severely underrated. A $10 picanha burger w/ polenta fries?! Say no more. The ambiance is great. It's not overly loud and a solid spot to catch a game. I have had excellent service on both of my recent visits here. John does a fantastic job at the bar on the cocktails and goes above and beyond. The $16 Dino rib is another favorite from the bar menu. This is becoming one of my regular spots given the great value and proximity to the theatre.

been to here multiple times for the churrasco experience, best of brazil, and all day happy hour. all were great but nothing beats the best of brazil. for $50-$60 you get access to the market table while having a selection of meats to try. i recently just tried their happy hour and will definitely be back for it. although you dont get the fogo experience i think the happy hour is well worth it for $6 a dish, $10 cocktails, and $8 for beer/wine.

Oakland sure isn't lacking for soul food restaurants, and there's a wide variety not only in terms…read moreof quality but in the breadth of food offered. Jamie W and I decided to give this restaurant a try after having had a delightful dinner at Burdell (review: https://yelp.to/FxhL3CmhOt). This one has a more upscale vibe in a cool historic setting, the Oakland Tribune building, but I have to say the execution was mixed. We started with a couple of their house cocktails. Jamie had the $14 Pierre's Margarita with the potent house tequila, triple sec, agave, and lime, while I ordered the puckery sweet $14 Strawberry Drop made with the house vodka, strawberry purée, lemon, and honey (Photo 8). It was a good start but then a long wait for the food. Inexplicably and without apology, all five dishes arrived all at once. Pretty overwhelming. First of all, we wanted to try the $28.50 Oxtail Rasta Pasta, but the server told us they were out. It was only 5:30PM, so we thought that was weak so early in the evening. As an alternative, we were offered a $35 'turf' version of the Rasta Pasta with slices of a medium-rare Ribeye Steak (Photo 7). The penne with jerk-spiced cream and sweet bell peppers was just too rich a bed for an indulgent piece of slightly undercooked meat. Similar in spirit was the $30 Cajun Crab Pappardelle which mixed a rich Creole cream sauce with cracked crab meat and mirepoix (Photo 5). It was another example of a fundamentally tasty dish overcome by muchness. We had marginally better luck with the three appetizers. The heavily dressed $14 Caesar Salad benefited from big toasted croutons (Photo 10). The $18 'Crack' Wings were pretty tasty with the spices and sweet chili sauce (Photo 6). The $15 Crab Fried Rice would've been just fine without the unnecessary topping of shaved Parmesan cheese (Photo 9). It turned out to be a lot of food for the two of us, and had we known how saucy most of the dishes were, we would've cut out at least one or two of the sides. I think they might benefit from Burdell's more economical approach to their dishes where they focus on a unique flavor to make each one more distinctively memorable. FOOD - 3 stars...basically tasty but with too many excessive touches in the execution...and no oxtails at 5:30PM? AMBIANCE - 4 stars...certainly spacious and well appointed for a vintage locale SERVICE - 3 stars...a spirited server but why did all the dishes come out at once?...and what's with not providing dinner napkins? TOTAL - 3 stars...it would be nice to offer an option to strip back on their richer dishes RELATED - Exploring Oakland? After scoping out the vibes of the place and the menu, I told myself to make sure to give this a shot. The place is in a redeveloped corner of Alameda right next to the bay. Probably used to be Navy base grounds back in the day. But now there's a couple of blocks worth of hip warehouse-y type of buildings, mostly restaurants, beer spots, some lofts and a little retail commerce. Very happening even though the surrounding area is a ghost town. Dining area not too big, maybe a couple of rooms that can hold about 20-30 heads each. Think there's another room for a private party/overflow. Decor pretty minimalist and stark. Service on the upscale side but in my stay, matched the decor, very minimalist and stark. Efficient enough but a little terse with little emotion. But I know service personality can differ from time to time or person to person. Just my obsy for one out. Daily Crudo ($20/4*) I think this rotates daily. Our choices that day was hamachi or a house smoked sturgeon. The sturgeon really piqued my interest but then it really wouldn't be a 'crudo' anymore would it, since I relate crudos to something 'raw-ish'. So I chose the hamachi. Very pretty plating, I love symmetry and balance. The thin slices of hamachi were indeed fresh, sitting in a stealthy pool of yuzu and olive oil. There are some fresno pepper slices and microgreens that garnish and a delicious nori cracker to break and accompany the crudo. This went really well with my glass of Fume Blanc. Caeser ($17/4.5*) We split this salad as their version sounded super cool. A miso-tinged Caeser dressing, lots of rustic garlic croutons and feathery soft grated parm and a soft-boiled egg. I love properly made Caesers and this was one of the best and unique versions I've ever had. The umami punch and the diverse textures just hit with me. A tad salty for a salad, but the crunchy and refreshing lettuce was able to absorb the salt blast. Huge salad too, like ideal for splitting and ridiculously large if for 1. Beef Short Rib ($43/4*) This was on special that night, and since I wasn't feeling Steak Frites (their only other beef entree option) this kinda fell on my lap. Very heavy and hearty dish. The short rib part was impeccable, super tender, gotta be sous vide. Perfectly seasoned with braising elements completely penetrated into the meat. There was a coarse gravy/sauce that covered which was okay, may have been the braising liquid just pureed. Served atop a huge pile of some risotto that I didn't inquire about. This risotto is what made the dish especially heavy. I ate most of it and it put me in a heavy carb coma. Lol. But there was a nice serving of perfectly cooked broccolini which helped balanced out the rich beef and carb heavy risotto. Chocolate Bar ($13/4.5*) Shared this for dessert as I really couldn't take more than just a few bites after the filling entree. But was this impressive, like high end dessert quality. Whoever does the desserts here definitely has some pedigree. The precision cut bar consisted of 3 layers. A brownie layer; a Bailey's mousse; and a salted caramel layer. I was loving the texture of all the different layers playing on one another. And every flavor was distinct without being overly sweet, which hit the right chords with me. A thick ganache garnished off to the side, which was good but just seemed a bit overkill with the already chocolate dominant bar. I think a cream element would have been a better contrast instead of rich chocolate on rich chocolate. But very minor quip on an otherwise skillful dessert. I finished the last few sips of my glass of Rhone with this dessert, and it left me one happy camper. I would definitely return as their style with flavors hits an accord with me. A little French, a smidge of Japanese and a lot of California. Rounding to a fiver, as this place made me more happy than not.

I also had a bite of my colleagues coleslaw...and I will say it was the best non mayo based coleslaw I've ever had! Not kidding! It has red onion, green pepper, and cilantro. For dessert since it's always a must on a biz trip, we ordered crème brûlée and a sorbet. The brulee was as expected and perfect to end the night. Will definitely be back!

The food, served family style, included a delicious salad; followed by a main course including a delicate fish that was out of this world, a tender beef that melted in the mouth, roasted potatoes, and Brussel sprouts; capped off with a desert of sweet treats. Thank you Martín for the lovely experience.

The staff member who called me notified me that I could reach Martin with having our pre-orders ready because we were on a schedule and wanted to make sure we didn't waste time with people deciding and finally ordering. I emailed the orders a week in advance, and Martin and his team were in touch to confirm our table and presence as they were going to start firing the orders ten minutes before our arrival. Our party of 12 was seated promptly and attended to very well. The orders came out and I was able to direct them to the person who ordered. I even ordered too much for the table in french fries, and they were able to get them to another table and remove them from our tab. I was so grateful as they could have easily refused as they were part of our pre-order and ready to go. They were so prompt that we had an extra 20 minutes before we needed to reconvene our meeting. Everyone enjoyed their meals and I think the team here did above and beyond. The staff was pleasant, receptive and prompt. I would definitely recommend Bocanova for your event.

O M G…read more I cannot even say enough about this place!! we took a chance and tried a new place, as usual. We lucked out and came in when there was no show. I am certain that the shows are astounding, however... Coming here when there's nothing going on gives us all of the attention. :-) Bookie brunch!! We had the frittata sandwich and the truffle Benedict .. the flavors in both of these are indescribable. You simply must experience them both. This was so good that we begged to meet Alessandro, their chef from Italy! A particularly beautiful man, who is ridiculously talented. Every bite was a celebration. But wait, there's more! Lupe!! she greeted us, she was our bartender, our server, and all around just an amazing individual who was running the show. Not to mention, Mixology. Glover margarita, lavender lemon drop, and the mandarin. All three certainly recommendable. Ambiance - a party!! Come with the expectation of a good time. Forgot to take pictures before we dug in but here you go

Good variety of American and Mexican food. They serve brunch too with decent selection of breakfast dishes. Service is OK and can get slow when busy. Parking is at mercy of DT Oakland, somewhat difficult with paid street parking. Flat entry and wide routes inside make it accessible. Great for parties, groups, get to gather for sport events. Big projector screens make it great place for events watching.

The moment we sat down, the place started filling up fast, and you could feel that holiday rush kicking in. Even with the crowd, the vibe stayed warm and welcoming. I ordered the Wings with two sides, and my partner went for the fried fish and fried prawns combo (pretty sure it was Combo 2 or 3). And listen... the food was fresh. You could taste the clean, hot oil in every bite -- that perfect crispiness on the fish and chicken that only comes from cooking with care. The fried prawns were a standout: juicy, crunchy, and seasoned just right. My sides were solid soul‑food comfort. * The collard greens were wonderful -- flavorful, tender, and exactly what you want from greens done right. * The candied yams leaned a little too sweet for my taste, but still good and definitely made with love. To set the tone, I ordered the Y's Choice Mimosa in pineapple, and that pitcher carried the vibe through the whole meal. Refreshing, fun, and honestly the perfect pairing with soul food on a hot holiday afternoon. By the time we finished, the Itis hit me hard. I knocked out the moment I got home -- that's how you know the food was hitting exactly the way soul food should. And I have to give a major shoutout to our server. She was holding down multiple tables by herself during a heat wave, and still made sure everyone was comfortable, taken care of, and enjoying their meal. Her hustle and attitude were a huge part of why the experience felt so good. Overall, Y's Choice delivered fresh food, great energy, and that classic soul‑food satisfaction that stays with you long after the meal. I can't wait to come back.
