    Very fresh and yummy tofu. And the portion was huge for a small. However I wouldn't consider this a tofu pudding and it's more just tofu.

    Was walking friends and we were talking about Cantonese desserts and how we haven't had tofu fa in so long when my friend recommended this spot. From the exterior experience, the restaurant looks pretty new. Inside they have tile wall and on the left side of the restaurant they posted pictures and newspapers of the establishment in the history. We ordered tofu pudding with ginger syrup, which I really recommend it tasted so good so nostalgic and soy milk. Behind the cash register we could see the behind the scenes of how they make tofu pudding. The restaurant has a couple of tables and chairs for the customers to enjoy their food. We ordered the food from the register and we bring the food to our own table.

    This place is as old school as it gets, except for the esthetics. The original location on Mott Street was there ever since my childhood. This new location is off the beaten path, so you might have to go a bit out of the way, but it's well worth it. Their claim to fame is fresh tofu products. However, I grew up on their Rice Cakes, which is basically flour, water, and sugar. Sounds simple, but no one else seems to make it as springy or spongy as Fong On. They have the family recipe down even though a new generation has taken over. There are now more flavors, but I stick to the white and yellow (brown sugar) versions of my childhood. Other products are very solid too, including their fresh soy milk, tofu pudding, and more. Even though the prices are no longer what it was, I really do appreciate that the next generation in the family decided to continue the family legacy that we get to enjoy a bit longer.     BLUF: Legacy renewed, but could be better for their slightly above average pricing. Fong On is the continuation of a legacy that's been around around since 1933. However, the recipes used are relatively new, as the recipes that made Fong On's reputation were lost to time. I don't recall visiting Fong On at its original location, but we've visited this particular location, which served as a tofu factory for the original Fong On, a couple of times. Items we've tried: - Grass Jelly: below average. The grass jelly here is stiffer than average, and less flavorful. - Rice Cakes: actually 糖糕; steamed Sugar Sponge cakes. We've had better versions elsewhere that are honeycombed in appearance, and softer and airier in texture. While Fong On was diminished by time, it's good to see their renewal, and to have a place that continues to serve traditional Chinese desserts.

    What's there not to like? It's my name! We came from afar so I bought a whole bunch to go. Their soy milk is delicious, I wish I would have bought more. The tofu with ginger sauce is amazingly good as well. If I lived there I would probably be a regular. I also bought the jelly cakes but they were not to my liking. If I'm ever back in the area, it's a must stop.

    Rice cakes are sooo good. Yes, it is pricey but it is good. I searched Manhattan far and wide and only 2 places in Chinatown have it. 46 Mott street although cheaper, they don't have the right consistency or texture. Fong on is the most traditional recipe and so we such it up and pay for it. (Bak tong gou) We managed to try their tofu pudding and really liked it with the red bean, ai yu jelly, and taro balls. Not too sweet and just very simple and comforting.

    Sooooooo refreshing! I do wash the cold tofu pudding would be more chill. Also when I got there, a lot of their toppings are already out, so it was a bit disappointing. Next time I hope I willl get to try more items!

    Sweet or savory... that is always the debate when I go into a tofu shop. Although most tofu shop only offer sweet. Fong On has been on my list for a long time and I'm so happy to find it today on my adventures. I opted for savory with dried shrimp, pickled veggies, and scallions. It was a great lunch. The tofu is so soft and delicate. The toppings were subtle and complimented the tofu. The pickle veggie was sour but light with a great crunch. The brine was of the dried shrimp brought another dimension to the flavor. The green onion brought the brightness. They also have rice cakes and grass jelly with toppings. Soy milk can be ordered sweetened or unsweetened. Casual. Good and fast service. Indoor seating with AC and outdoor seating available. Pleas come and create your own adventure.

    Visited this small, cozy tofu shop on a cold weekend. Wanted to try their popular tofu pudding, which comes with sugar/ginger syrup. The tofu itself was warm, soft and very velvety- I enjoyed every bite. Would've hoped for more seating as many customers fought the bitter cold and braved the outdoor bench to sit and eat their bowl of tofu. Shop also sells glutinous rice cakes and other sweet Asian desserts. Will return to try their other selections of sweets

    Great spot to satisfy your douhua aka tofu pudding (豆腐花 or 豆花) craving whether you like it hot or cold! This oldest run family tofu shop in NYC has been around for a very long time. I still remember it as a kid when the shop was on Mott St known as Fong Inn Too. It definitely grew more modern and appealing to the younger generations. It is also vegan-friendly: think tofu products, soy milk (豆浆 or 豆奶) , rice cakes (白糖糕) and grass jelly (涼粉 or 仙草粿) . They have extremely limited seating on the patio and inside, as Fong On aims for a grab-and-go, quick serve concept. The interior is casual with a little old school vibe, with their menu written on the wall with markers. There are much more choices than their previous location on Mott, now including tofu pudding (hot or cold, sweet or savory, or combos), soy milk, herbal tea, rice cakes, tofu blocks (soft or firm), and grass jelly. The savory tofu pudding has a slightly salty and spicy flavor profiled made with pickled radish, fried shallots, scallions, sesame oil, dried shrimps, and chili sauce to liking. The plain or sweet tofu pudding has the same silky smooth tofu in a cup but you can opt for nothing, brown sugar, ginger, or almond syrup to go with it. As for tofu pudding combos, I feel that they are a nice and contemporary addition to traditional way of enjoying these treats! From toppings like taro balls, red beans, grass jelly, boba balls, mung beans, aloe jelly, rainbow jelly, and aiyu jelly, you're going to be happy with what you create. Regarding the rice cakes, I do like that they have several flavors though I tend to stick to the traditional white rice cake, because it's a timeless classic just the way I like it! Some other flavors include ginger, matcha, and coconut, all airy, slightly chewy and sweet. My only pet peeve is that I'm unable to purchase these rice cakes by the piece and must buy by the box which comes in six. While some may want to enjoy the whole box or bring it home to share, there are many customers who wish to only buy one for a quick snack or to try it out. I've heard many customers come in and try to get one piece but turned down. This spot definitely brings back childhood memories! All in all, a favorite place of mine to visit and get some yummy in my tummy. Thanks for keeping this alive!

    Craving a taste of home, I stopped by Fong On while in the area. I ordered a large tofu pudding with three toppings -- taro balls, boba, and red beans. I had it served hot (though I wish it came out a little hotter). The boba was cooked perfectly, soft yet chewy, and the red beans were just right , not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. I chose the brown sugar syrup on the side and only added a touch, since the red beans already gave enough sweetness. Service was efficient, though it could've used a little more warmth, LOL. Overall, a comforting bowl that definitely hit the spot for my hometown craving.

    I don't think I've ever had a tofu pudding like this before, so it's hard to review without anything to compare it to. However, the tofu was super fresh tasting, and you can tell they make it in house. The toppings also tasted very fresh--I just think it lacked flavor, but maybe it's supposed to be supplemented by the syrup of choice that they provide? I want to come back to try the savory tofu puddings--that might be more up my alley! Theres a couple of tables and chairs inside, but overall quite small. However, in the spring/summer they have some patio seats also. But, it's also a good on the go snack too!

Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern.
