I came here during my solo Chinatown food crawl and it was the perfect end to my crawl. I came for the mango mochi and it was worth the hype. The mochi was incredibly soft with large chunks of mango. I loved how fresh and light the mochi was, and I'm not a big mochi girl. I'd highly recommend trying it. read more

Little things that makes my heart skip a beat! The mango mochi here is really a treat to be had while in Manhattan's Chinatown. Luckily, there were no lines for this visit. Got the mango mochi and it's as good as people say. Personally not a big fan of anything too sweet and this tastes like straight mango, no extra sweetener so right up my alley. One mochi is enough for one person. Didn't get to try the coconut cream bun but will be back to try that at some point. read more

We came here for the viral mango mochi, and it did not disappoint! We came in the morning and they were busy inside, a lot of seating and quite spacious. Wow the mango mochi was so delicious, it was soft and good texture and a good amount of filling! It was topped with coconut flakes and not overly sweet. Definitely worth the hype, it was $3 and I think that's a great price for the size. We also came for the hot soy milk, but they weren't serving it yet, and they have a ton of options to choose from for pastry and baked goods. Definitely recommended trying this place! read more

I went here for the first time when I visited New York last year and had to come back not once but twice for their mango mochi. The mango mochi is so soft and covered with coconut flakes. Came here on a mission to try their viral mango mochi! This thing is HEEEEFTY. I feel like it weights at least a pound. Not a bad deal for $3. As a mango lover, I've been dying to try the mango mochi I've been seeing on TikTok. This is a no frills place, and is just your standard asian bakery that you know all the locals go to. One thing to keep in mind is that it's cash only, but I believe they do take venmo as well. The mangos were super fresh and the mochi was delicious. The coconut flakes brought everything together and made for a really great midday sweet treat. I would definitely get this again! read more

This mango mochi is truly one of a kind. My brother & I both agreed it's the freshest mochi we've ever had in our lives: soft, pillowy, and the perfect bite. Not to mention the fresh mango inside, beautifully sweet and ripe. I really enjoyed the coconut on the outside, although if you aren't a coconut fan you might not. The staff are very efficient keeping the line going and having their food stocked for the crowds. This bakery is much more crowded since their mango mochi became tik tok famous. Their other breads and goods are in line with other bakery's in the area in terms of quality size and price. Their mango mochi is much better than what's offered elsewhere. Their fruit is always bright and sweet and the mochi is very soft. It's a bit pricier than what it used to be- now 3.50 but it's understandable given how fresh the mangos are. Just be warned that this mochi is not chewy. It just is soft and melts in your mouth. read more

Mango mochi is a MUST TRY! They sell other breads and pastries, but didnt have a chance to try them. I tried the mango mochi cause I saw it on Instagram, and it was well worth the hype. The mochi was chewy, stretchy and sooooo soft. It also had real mango chunks inside and wasn't too sweet. It was much bigger than I imagined, but Im not complaining -- even ended up coming back for a second one. They have seating inside to enjoy the pastries! read more

My friend went to New York over Thanksgiving and was nice enough to bring me a mango mochi from Golden Manna Bakery. By the time I got it, the mochi really has gone through enough trauma to last an entire lifetime. It was incredibly squashed, almost like it's been pummeled and dropped before getting kicked. The mango filling was splattered all over the plastic wrapper. It was a mess. However, it was still really delicious, chewy and stretchy despite all that it went through. The coconut flakes were crispy and went well with the mango filling, which was filled with mango chunks. Even though it isn't mango season right now, the mangos were still pretty sweet. Overall, delicious treat, and I know I will be going to Golden Manna Bakery during my next NYC trip. read more

I found the viral Mango Rice Cake I've been seeing all over Instagram!!! I was SOOOO excited to come here when I was visiting Chinatown in NYC. Honestly, this is such a good deal, you get this giant fresh soft mango rice cake which is so chewy and filled with fresh chunks of mango for only $3. I inhaled it so fast and then got some to go for later because it was so addicting, I honestly was sad I didn't get more. It was clean inside and the staff was really friendly. Their mango mochi transported me right back to my childhood days in Hong Kong, and tasted exactly like how I remember it. Their mango mochi was $3 each, slightly more expensive than the one from Tai Pan ($2.75), but definitely offered better value--they used real mango chunks for the filling, and even the mochi dough was mango-flavored. You could tell how rich it was in mango flavor just by its vibrant orange color. The mango itself was incredibly sweet, even though mangoes weren't quite in season yet. Tried the mango mochi and the peanut mochi. The mochi is quite big. At $3 a piece, I think it's really good! The mochi is extremely soft. It's softer than the other mochis I have tried. The mango flavor was good with actual mango chunks. The peanut flavor was not bad as well. But I would definitely prefer the mango one. Went around 3 pm on a weekend to try the mango mochi and there was a short line of just a few people which moved quickly. The mochi was well worth the hype - sticky, stretchy and oh so pillowy. The glutinous rice was incredibly soft, and covered in coconut flakes which enhanced the mango flavor. The star of the show was the filling, which consisted of chunks of real mango that were sweet and ever slightly tart. I was worried that the filling would be too liquid-y but that wasn't the case, and everything held together well. The mochi were larger than I was expecting and for $3, what a steal!! They also offer other pastries, coffee, and tea which we did not try. They do have some table seating inside, and though the space is relatively small, we saw many Asian aunties and uncles enjoying other bakery items which I feel is always a good sign. My family has tried several different items from Golden Manna Bakery on many occasions now and have always had the most delicious experience . Our absolute favorites are the Mexican roll, coconut roll, and pineapple roll -- they're perfectly made and so soft and yum. We love heating them up at home and enjoying them for breakfast; they're the perfect start to our mornings. Cash only, prices are reasonable. Might be one of my new go-to Chinatown bakeries! Tried a pineapple bun fresh out of the oven and it was BOMB, soooo good. Also tried a pineapple bun filled with char siu and although I think I preferred the regular pineapple bun, I still found it far superior to the one I got at Mei Lai Wah. Mango mochi were delicious, such a soft texture, and filled with fresh, sweet mango. The only thing I didn't like were these small cookies that looked like mini pineapple buns-- unfortunately they tasted nothing like pineapple buns and were rather dry/crumbly. read more

I visited Hong Kong last year and ate delicious mango mochis there. Ones that I have never been able to find in NYC. So, when it was going around on social media that Golden Manna Bakery had mango mochi that reminded people of that of Hong Kong's, I had to go check it out. Some people even claimed that they were exactly like those in Hong Kong. I had high expectations and was excited because the price is only $3 too. I bought 4 so I could share it with my family and unfortunately, we all agree that social media has lied once again. The mochi is way too soft and mushy and the mango to mochi ratio is like 30%-70%. Personally, I would have preferred more of the tiramisu flavor without the full tiramisu texture mixed into the drink. That said, it was an interesting concept and I'm glad I tried it. I'd definitely be open to coming back and trying another latte on a future visit.

I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.

The desserts have a more subtle flavor and sweetness level than western desserts and I'm glad for that! Their sambal (sold by the jar) is fantastic and adds a spicy umami so highly recommend. They did seasonal ice cream pops one summer a few years ago and those were rich, creamy and scrumptious. In my most recent visit picked up a piece of cassava kuih $3.28 and hojicha sesame & red bean kuih $4.28. The cassava one of my faves and kinda tastes like a very light sweet potato flavor with the texture of a rice cake. The latter paired together a few notable Asian flavors and they each came thru in different bites. The husband and wife team that runs this spot is super kind and sweet, staff have been very helpful whenever I've had questions.
