Had a great meal here today with a sushi loving friend of mine. She introduced me to it and I must say, I was impressed. The motif and decor are eye catching and very attractive. The service was impeccable and our waitress was really on top of things. The sushi we ordered was first and the options were amazing. It was plated beautifully and tasted phenomenal. The miso soup was hot and tasty. I think my only very minor complaint was all the sushi artists behind the counter were had iPods in their ears and I really despise that. My daughter and I went here last year and really enjoyed it, so when my sister was in town and was hungry, we thought of Fontana Sushi for a quick dinner. It's a little nerve-wracking taking someone to a sushi place when they live in a state surrounded by oceans and fresh seafood, but this was a good choice. Since it was later at night, we were seated right away and were able to order quickly. My sister, alas, did not order seafood, but got the tofu teriyaki, which she said was really good. My daughter and I got a California roll and cheese wontons- a perfect late-night snack and everything tasted fresh. We sat by the big fish tank and it felt like a private little table for us to catch up. read more

Fontana is a hidden Gem in a shopping strip somewhat across from Trader Joes in Littleton (drive along the South facing strip). Fontana is "Quaint" with a beautiful Sea water Tank, open sushi bar to view and two rows of seats; great place to bring a friend and have some conversation time, or by yourself. Fontana is tastfully pleasant! And the Sushi is well made along with pleasurable presentation. My Aspen LOVES Shrimp Tempura!!! and we have visited Fontana over the years, with "Welcoming delight." Unfortunately, businesses have turn over and this last time, the welcome was not there with only one table of two ladies finishing up. There was a bit of skuttlebutt conversation as we entered, NOT the normal greeting I have received in the years past! Unfortunately; yet this could be cultural and new people.... Aspen and I wish to have our Shrimp Tempura, which, I MUST say each shrimp is 4 inches long (!!) cooked to a lovely tender consistancy, and the tempura is light - crunchy - absolutely delicious. Thankfully my Aspen has manners, or she might gobble all of these lovely simply presented Tempuras! I do recommend Fontana for a nice lunch time with a friend or two, this is a rather small place yet enough space to feel comfortable. Also, I have enjoyed some of their delicious varying Sushi rolls, which are plentiful. One last suggestion/comment. Once I did arrive at 2:30PM for "lunch" most likely the Shrimp Tempura, and asked for my check/bill at 3:04PM, I was charged "Dinner Prices!" Ergo my suggestion, if you are a bit later in the afternoon, request your check immediately to avoid that "Dinner Charge" I do recommend Fontana for the quiet, food and convenience in the area, possibly after shopping/stocking up at the local well known stores! read more

My best friends took me to Fontana Sushi (Southwest) for my birthday dinner. The staff was quick to set up tables for five of us and greeted us in a very friendly manner. The menu was quite extensive and offered many varieties of appetizers and rolls. I don't recall every roll that we ordered but we enjoyed every type. The sides of cheese wontons and edamame were fresh and delicious. I feel the wontons were made in house and flavorful. The business is not large but we had no issue getting right in at 5pm, as we were leaving there was a few folks waiting to be seated. My Godkids enjoyed viewing the salt water fish tank near the entrance. At the end of the meal we all had a nice birthday dessert of ice cream and fried bananas. While out shopping in the area, we popped in to give this place a try. It wasn't the most welcoming situation. The host/waitress was on the phone (speaker phone) for an extended amount of time walking around the restaurant. We sat for a while before being helped. I love this place! The staff are always very nice and cordial, the sushi chefs are fun to talk with, and the sushi never disappoints. On this visit, I had a spicy tuna hand roll, soft shell crab roll, salmon and hamachi nigiri sushi. The hamachi was exceptionally good this time, as if it just came in from the sea. This place is great for maki rolls, decent but big slices of sashimi, nigiri is decent, and some solid appetizer items. We ordered a hamachi collar which was actually the best we have found in Denver so far. Next up we got the ceviche which was really tasty and balanced. From there we got a salmon skin roll and mexican roll. For sashimi we got yellowtail, striped bass sashimi, and imitation crab. The worst. Sushi was low grade and the soft shell crab had a coconut breading. I asked for ponzu sauce and the server gave me straight vinegar. I know ponzu. No one reminded me to never come here again, so I found myself at this awful eatery. I ordered the two-roll lunch that comes with soup and salad. No problem there. I ordered two avocado rolls as my main dish. G-d only knows what she brought me, but it sure wasn't avocado. It was coated in fish eggs. I sent it back. A few minutes later, they brought another G-d only knows what it is. It had fake crab meat which, we know, is fish of some sorts. Again, I sent it back but I was truly ready to walk out the door. The third time apparently is a charm; I got simple avocado sushi without bells and whistles. Just what I wanted. Was that so difficult, Fontana Sushi? In reading my past reviews of this nightmare of a restaurant, I see I've had similar problems in the past with getting botched orders. I'm not a sushi eater so I am glad they had options other than just sushi so I got the tempura and rice. It was good, but it was so much starch in a meal. I do want to try the teriyaki next time I go as it would be way less starch. It's expensive but again, I don't eat sushi so I don't know what a fair price is. read more

From every time I've come here, the sushi has been amazing. The sushi is made to perfection and even the shrimp tempura is made fresh for each order. The miso soup is also very good, and I love miso soup. I've come here about 6 times since I've moved here and it's my go to sushi place. And most of the servers are very friendly. Also, if you sit at the bar, don't expect them to talk to you if you want to have a conversation with them. I still give this place 5 stars because of the amazing food. read more

Gave this place a shot tonight as an alternative to Orion Sushi on Kipling and Jewell. The space is a little smaller than Orion, but the acoustics made it much easier to hold a conversation. We mostly stuck to rolls for dinner, and mostly stuck to standards (California, Philly, Spider) so didn't really explore their signature/house rolls. The (standard) rolls we had were done really well. But, the crab cream cheese wontons were freaking to die for and totally blew Orion's wontons out of the water!
