Super cheap and convenient...they really manage to fit a lot inside this unassuming warehouse! I recommend this Foodmaxx vs. the one off of Monument Road. The carts actually steer a lot better, the store is cleaner, and the lighting is better. I still prefer going to the meat or produce market for those items, but if you're looking for canned, dry, and some frozen goods this is the place. Be ready to pack your own bags, however there are some exceptions. When I was preggers they had an assistant pack the bags for me, and he helped load my car. That was nice of him. read more

I do pretty much all of my grocery shopping at this Food Maxx and have been for a couple of years now. Not just becuase it is right dow the street from my house, but because I save a ton of money by shopping here! You can get all of your groceries for a significantly lower price than other grocery outlets and still get most of the same brands too. The produce is for the most part pretty good. And so is the meat. I can get a bag of frozen chicken breasts, tilapia and salmon for under $9. Since I am big on eating lean protein, this is perfect, because I will stock up and buy 2 bags of each at a time. The isles are really big and wide, so its easy to navigate through them without bumping in to people. I have been to some grocery stores where I walk in and feel dizzy and overwhelmed by everything being so tight and crammed together. I cant shop in stores like that, it gives me a headache. Here, you can see everything easily and you dont feel crowded. I like that. I can pretty much get everything done here in one trip. Groceries, toiletries, alcohol, pet food, hygeine products... Food Maxx has it all! I knocked off 1 star because there is always a super long check out line here. They usually only have one or two cashiers open at a time. They really should have more casheirs for a store of this size. You also have to bag your own groceries, but I dont really mind that too much. I just feel a little rushed when there is another person behind me and I need to get out of the way. But other than those two things, the store is clean and easy to navigate and the prices are amazing. I always love a bargain, and thats what I get when I shop at Food Maxx. read more

Worst place ever to shop. They have no customer service and no sense of urgency. Long lines and not even trying to get extra help to get people out. We had one cashier Hannah with the worst attitude ever, who closed her line right in front of us with 7 other people behind us and didn't even say one word to anyone and when asked about it she just ignored everyone. So we went from being next in line to waiting another 30 minutes in the back of another line. Also with a toddler didn't help the matter. Shop here pretty often, and know I have to pay attention to the expiration dates on perishables. Today I was looking to buy a package of alfalfa or clover sprouts. ALL of the dozen or so packages on the shelf were expired!!!! And all but three of them expired more than a week ago! So nobody else would accidentally buy them, I brought the packages over to the produce guy who was stocking other products. When I told him why I was bringing the product to him, he copped petulant tone and said "You could have just told me." No "Ooops, sorry!" And when I started going through the checkstand, the checker didn't bother to respond to my "Hi!" And it wasn't busy! He did get most of my order rung up correctly, and managed to choke out a "thank you" at the end. Not sure what's going on with this store, but they've replaced a whole bunch of employees within the past couple of months. And it has for the most part not been an improvement. Have been shopping at FoodMaxx for years. Mostly because they carry things my rabbits like to eat. And they're a straight bus-shot to and from my house. But it's probably time for me to switch shopping venues. read more

The worst experience I've ever had at any food maxx location. Went into this location just for milk. 2 cashiers only and the line was about 9 customers deep in both lanes. By the time I got my milk to get in line, it just seems to have grown longer. The gal working the register I was standing at kept leaving her damn register! I've seen her look so many times at the line but not once did they ever call for backup. I mean come on, the lines are growing and wrapping around I'd say there was about 15 customers or so in each line. I will say the other lane was going just a bit quicker but not by much. Then again unlike our cashier the other seemed to have stayed at her register. Our cashier left about 3-4 times. Seriously?!? It took me half hour to from when I stood in line to finish. That's ridiculous. Others didn't have much either but waited so long. Yes price is a bit cheaper but I'd rather have just gone to Safeway 2 blocks down and pay a little extra with the worst experience I've had here! Lesson learned and never again! Even WINCO has much better experience with amount of customers they get. They call for backup and not just have TWO cashiers open!! Customer service is key in type of business and there is definitely a lack of it and professionalism. Needs lots of work! read more

Take it from your stereotypical suburban housewife: FoodMaxx has great prices, and when another reviewer said you can fill your cart with groceries for under $150, she's not only right, she also neglected to tell you that those carts are MONSTROUSLY sized (read: Costco sized) so that's a lot of bread, butter and cheese, my friends. A store like Safeway may be cheaper if you are matching coupons to flyer specials, but FoodMaxx is consistently cheaper on most staple items and you can do that shopping without much fuss. If I had to run out and buy an item (for something I was cooking, e. g.) I would run to FoodMaxx before any other store, because chances are good that I will pay less here than anywhere else. And that takes a lot of stress out of food shopping for anyone on a budget, so that's four-star worthy for me. Edit: They also carry a great selection of Thai, Mexican, Indian and Vietnamese items at prices that are WAY lower than Safeway and Lucky. read more

I have recently begun shopping here regularly for produce and pantry items. I think the prices are great for fruit and veg. and they usually taste pretty good. The only problem is I made a special trip Saturday night at 9:30 to find a bread rack blocking the entrance (closed). Tri-tip was on sale for $2.99/lb but the Meat Department. clumped all tri-tip into one bunker with a big sign advertising $2.99/lb. So if you grabbed a package that said $3.99/lb they wouldn't honor the $2.99/lb sale price. Although I stated that the sign was very misleading, nobody wanted to adjust the price so I left very upset and contacted their Customer Service Department online. After one week of waiting for resolution, the meat manager, Wayne Czellecz, said he would take care of me. A mere $5.71 extra + the $14.29 I was overcharged was given to me in the form of a FoodMaxx gift card. No, not cash! Yay me for my time and inconvenience. Also, the meat department has not changed the way they advertise their tri-tip (same $2.99/lb sign) so more customers will be misguided by their sneaky advertising. Shame on FoodMaxx. read more

I will only shop here if nothing else is convenient. I came by in the afternoon to see all 3 lanes were busy. I picked a super yucky line. Lady in front of me had a huge cart full. I had one item in my hand & rolled my eyes at the poor guy w son behind me who had switched lines, hoping ours was faster. I've been going here since I moved here. Good prices. I like their fish section. Sometimes they carry Ahi Tuna, which is REALLY good and hard to find. We always come here for our foods. And trying to eat healthy in a world full of fast food and microwave foods, their produce section isn't huge but they always have the basics so it easier to eat healthy. Even if I have to bag my own bags, it's not a big deal. It'll help you loose weight by bending and moving. And best of all no cards needed! I recommend you try their cinnamon cake. The store is clean and seems like the upkeep is always done daily. The prices are decent, way better than Safeway! Some prices however seem to be creeping up. I know the economy is bad and everyone is affected, however the prices keep making me go to Winco more and more. The meat at this store seems to have improved a lot since about 3 or 4 years ago. I LOVE this store! I'm a bargain shopper and the prices are great on top quality groceries. If you stop in once a week or so, you will find some super bargains (stock-up your home). I'm particularly impressed with the meat counter because it has reasonable pricing and the occasional WoW sale. They also carry quality fresh fish. The store isn't fancy, just big-box aisles but they keep it clean and tidy all the time. The staff has been extremely pleasant at all times and I'm surprised that other people reviewed them as cranky or unhelpful because I've shopped there a long time and have had no issues; in fact they have pleasantly performed some unusual tasks I've asked them to do. The store is crowded even during the evenings at 8 pm. And the lanes are always crowded. The employees who work there look like they are half dead. Finally, I was able to shop at Food Maxx. I got couple vegetables like iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini and tomatoes. To be honest the lettuce is small and cucumbers and tomatoes were so dry and did have any taste. I guess what you paid and you'll get, right? The only 2 thing I like is Nutella spread and 36 ct cookies for $4.99 ( chocolate chip, chocolate chip & nut and oatmeal raisin) they are better than Safeway! Okay. Finally had a better experience today at FM. Wasn't going to return since last time I was there we had a crazy cashier who kept pressing the button to move the groceries along so fast, before I could bag them, that they were flying off the conveyor belt onto the floor! Today our checker was very polite. The produce was fresh and vibrant. We found wild-caught shrimp in the frozen food aisle. All in all, a decent experience. I am sure the food is fine but it is very cheaply made and could not be good for you. We will use this store for good prices on name brands. Aesthetically, it's nothing special but they have a great produce, meat and dry foods selection. Prices much lower than my local Safeway which is appealing to my cheap ass ways. Every checker I've had has been very friendly although I have never seen anyone work on the floor, so good luck if you need assistance finding anything.
