I highly recommend For Eyes Optical.. I purchased a Groupon so Initially I was anxious about my experience. I was wrong. Neda, the optician who assisted me explained the benefits of my voucher and how to best use it. She went out of her way to help me select frames in my price range, that really looked good on me and the appropriate lens (not the most expensive). She managed obtaining my prescription and treated me as if I was the only customer in the store. I observed this customer service from her co-workers as well: from the manner in which they answer the phone to the way they regarded "walk-ins" like me, The frame selection puts other merchants to shame. It was my first time going into For Eyes, and let me tell you: I don't think I'll ever switch to another place to get my glasses again. The staff was super friendly; they made me feel as if I were at home. America, one of the workers, treated me as if she had known me for years. She was so down to earth and super helpful in helping me choose my pair, and thanks to her I'm receiving so many compliments on them! She explained the costs and told me how to take care of them. I can tell she enjoys her job and loves helping everyone who walks in. Kenny was also super friendly and helpful, he treated me like a friend and not a customer. The ladies behind the desk were amazing as well. Overall, my experience at this For Eyes surpassed my expectations. I should not have returned to this company, much less location, but i had a pair of glasses that needed a frame repair. This simple repair ended up costing me an entire new pair of glasses, for which I'm waiting more than 1 week to receive. After fixing the frames, the technician "cleaned" my glasses and rendered them unusable. The lenses were so scratched, and they claimed it was the AR lens degradation. I am apt to believe this, in that they were 2+ years old. However, I was able to see out of the lenses perfectly fine when I walked into the store. The ensuing "customer service" was horrific, and I am so upset about walking into this store EVER. The manager Socorro King took my call a week later when I wondered if my glasses had arrived. I have never had a better eye exam in my life and I've had steady eye exams since I was in first grade. The optometrist was thorough, efficient and nice. My prescription changed and they had no problem swapping out my other contacts. I bought glasses as well and had a good experience. The lady helped me pick out the perfect pair almost instantly and I'm incredibley picky when it comes to those things. I do wish I waited for a better eyeglass sale but was overall happy. In choosing eyeglasses, Robert was very helpful and friendly. He explained the process fully as the add-ons added up. What would have been over $600! for a pair of eyeglasses came down to a "mere" $420 by declining one of the add-ons and by receiving a 25% insurance discount. I could have saved another $130 by declining "high index thin lenses" but my prescription would have called for thicker lens than I wanted if I had. Since there is no option for Zero Stars, this is the closest I can get to expressing my dissatisfaction with this place. MISERABLE! DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. The doctors themselves seem to be capable at doing their jobs. But that's it. The people at the front desk ONLY care about squeezing money out of you, and if they are unable to do so, they have no problem being deceitful in order to screw you over. My insurance only allows new frames and lenses every other year, but a "free" exam every year. Since I bought a set each of distance and reading glasses last year, from this store, I planned to get the exam, and use the prescription to buy a pair of progressives online. I coughed up my co-pay, and even dropped an extra $15, I think, after being up-sold on a "special" exam that apparently wasn't covered by my insurance. Fine. No big deal. When I told the woman at the front desk I would need a copy of my prescription, she became annoyed, and immediately began warning me against purchasing glasses online, while trying to scare me into taking advantage of their "sale", which isn't a sale by any means. I was courteous, and said no thank you, I just wanted my prescription and Pupillary Distance measurement. She told me that the PD was different for each pair of glasses, and therefore would not take the measurements unless I was going to buy a pair of their glasses. When I pressed her, insisting that the PD doesn't change depending on the glasses, she refused to take the measurements. (Think about it ~ the distance between MY two pupils does not shorten or lengthen because of the glasses I am wearing. That's about as stupid as saying the physical length of my arms change depending on the shirt I'm wearing.) She would not even give me my previous numbers. So, I left. Later that day, I placed an order online, but before submitting it, I decided to call For Eyes and see if I could reach another employee. I did ~ a guy who was there during my appointment, but someone I did not deal with at the time. I asked him to pull my records and tell me what my PD measurement was last year. He said, "66", so that is what I entered into my online order. Flash forward to today. I have been wearing my new glasses for two days, but have been having trouble finding "the sweet spot" in the reading distance ~ I find myself turning and shifting my head to achieve the proper focus. So, I contacted the online company, asking if this was normal during the breaking-in period of wearing progressives for the first time. The representative told me it sounded like an issue with my...(wait for it)...Pupillary Distance. I called For Eyes immediately and asked for the numbers on every measurement I've had in the past couple years. The guy I was transferred to was obviously hesitant to provide me with my test results, but I pushed, and said I wanted to know if they were consistent. He said they were. Again, not giving the number. So, I said, "They were all 66?" He said, "No. 65." The person I spoke to two weeks ago lied. I know it wasn't a mistake, because I asked three different ways before hanging up just to make sure. First, he said the PD was, "33 on each side." I asked, "So, that means it's 66?' "Yes." "Just to be straight ~ my PD is 66?" "Yes." The guy on the phone apologized, and I asked to speak with the manager. He said he was the manager. When I began to tell him the saga, he started giving me lame excuses for their behavior. So, I asked for the name and number of his General Manager. He said he WAS the General Manager. Manager. General Manager. And, the guy who reads customer PD measurements over the phone. I, ah...don't' think so. I got the number for Corporate, and I plan on calling. In the meantime, this pair of glasses needs to be returned and remade ~ not sure if that will come at any extra expense. I plan on finding a way for these liars to pay for wasting my time and money because of their unprofessional behavior. Be warned. You don't need the proper PD measurements to see the unscrupulousness of the people working at this store. read more

Socorro and team are always very courteous, there is a good variety of options, and they are very patient with me for fitting the glasses, etc. For Eyes is out of network for my vision coverage, but I go to this location anyway because of the great service and selection. read more

The woman who answers the phone at this For Eyes should get over herself and just try to be helpful. I called to ask if my new glasses had arrived, and got an earful about how glasses don't get delivered on weekends and possibly not even on Mondays. I had no interest in bothering this person and only did so because I need my glasses and For Eyes is SLOW to deliver the glasses they sell. Had a similar experience (but in person) with a rude woman who works at the For Eyes on Clark St in Chicago. For Eyes should concentrate on hiring people with manners -- or better yet, send them to charm school before they are let loose to deal with customers. Ugh. read more

I visited this store twice at 7:30pm (30 minutes before closing) when I was immediately told, "our computers are shut down for the night so we can't place any orders". I also found it difficult to get anyone to help me when asking if there was a certain area with frames in my price range. They also told me they could not accept my prescription by email, text or on my phone but no one suggested I could print and fax the next day from my office until I came up with the idea. At one point I asked if they were even interested in selling glasses. This pretty much sums ups my experience. If it weren't for Jammie and Robert, the only ones interested in helping me, I'd give this place zero stars. read more

My mother went in to the For Eyes location on Harlem to get her glasses tightened and purchase new frames on Oct 11th. She gets them tightened every 6 months or so. Her experience with customer service had been okay until she met Carmen. She was very professional, did an excellent job tightening her glasses and also replaced the back end piece that wraps behind the ear. If you go in to this location, ask for Carmen. read more

The eye exam people are great but the prices are bad even with groupon. First order of glasses was broken. 2nd order I was told I already picked it up which i didnt then had to wait again. After waiting 4 months for my glasses to arrive the new ones were not broken but they were not thinned out like the ones I first ordered. Paid for thinned lenses and got thicker lenses. A year later they snapped in half from being adjusted soo cheap. Costco is much less much thinner and lasts longer. read more

What a surprisingly good experience I had today. i needed an exam and new lenses made for existing frames. The exam was thorough, the tech informative and efficient. The optometrist, Dr Yonkee was as great as the reviews had led me to believe, better in fact. He was friendly, with a sense of humor and an easy going educational style. i sensed he's in the exact right place with all the requisite skills. The sales person for the lenses, Jessica, exercised discretion over a customer finance matter brought to her by one of her staff. She seemed unusually competent for a woman as young as she. You are sure to appreciate the smart and personable experience in store for you at this location. They're all on the same page evidently, I hope the company rewards the value they provide. read more

Out of all the places I have been to see an eye doctor this one is my favorite so far and will always be! They don't rush through the exams or when your picking out frames. I never had such a great experience with an eye doctor like I did here with Dr. Whittey! He was amazing, I never knew how many eye tests there are lolol. America, the receptionist (I think that's what she is) was the biggest sweetheart. She was very helpful on helping me decide what frame fit me best. I'm through with this particular For Eyes. I've bought my eye wear exclusively from this franchise since the mid 90s. The prices and selections have always been nice. The store in Oak Pk ,however, has changed my mind. I usually patronized the one on north Elston in Chicago but I began to frequent the store in Oak Pk a couple of years ago. I've been in there 7 or 8 times over the last couple of years and have bought 2 pair of prescription sunglasses. On at least 4 of the visits I was put off by something said by staff. They don't seem to know much about what they are selling and if you ask them any questions they won't answer and instead suggest you schedule an appointment with an optometrist. During my last visit I discover that one of my lens is not cut properly and that's why it is continually popping out. I was basically told " too bad", a year had went by and I should have noticed the defect earlier. Also The place is dark and and borderline depressing. read more

I wish I could rate the staff separately, the optical staff was excellent. They tried to overcompensate for the subpar services that were received on the Optometrist side. Doctor did not communicate well, my glasses had to be made three times before I was satisfied. The prescription once was written with an astigmatism, which was not needed, the second time the right prescription was put in the left and vice versa. I had an overall great experience with the doc and sales staff, in particular Neda, was extremely helpful when I was looking for the right pair of glasses. I literally had her give me her honest opinion on the numerous pairs I tried on until I found the right pair. Although I was probably a nuisance she really took the time and effort to work with me until I was happy. She wasn't pushy at all. I recommend this store to anyone! read more

I have used this For Eyes for my glasses and contacts for years. Dr. Yonkee apparently left the practice, and after the experience I had, I plan on following him. I was nearly out of my contact lenses and went to order more, finding that my prescription was a few weeks expired. I called For Eyes, and due to Dr Yonkee switching practices, they couldn't extend the prescription. I scheduled an appointment, and received a call much less than 24 hours before the appointment that the doctor wouldn't make it in and they needed to re-schedule but they couldn't reschedule it tonight, they didn't know when her next available appointment was. I asked if I could pick up sample contacts to get me through - since there was no appointment in the near future and I will be going out of town. I was told that they were unable to assist in any way- that only the tech or doctor could do this, and they were unsure of when either of these people would be in. I was essentially told that For Eyes has no actual affiliation with this doctor who works there, and there was nothing they could do beyond waiting to hear from her. Although the receptionist and manager were very nice, clearly this is a poorly run operation. The doctor cancelling the appointment less than 24 hour in advance, with zero options for future appointments, and zero options to remedy my contact situation - is very poor patient care. Yesterday at the Oak Park location, I found For Eyes optometrist and eye wear techs needed a tune-up on their attitude and customer service skills. While competent, both employees whom I encountered presented as checked-out, "going through the motions," both on the telephone and face-to-face. There are many optical chains competing for business; the techs I encountered seemed un-invested in the success of their business. I do not fault the For Eyes employees, per se; their behaviors reflect more a store manager who does not show skills for maintaining training and motivation of their staff. Usually, I would not take the time to write these many lines of feedback. But, my experience represents a pattern; if others report similar experiences, For Eyes has the opportunity to benefit by the feedback. I return to the Oak Park For Eyes because of the location and moderate pricing; I have reached the point where these priorities have changed. read more
