I was in the Detroit area for a couple of days and thought it would be fitting to go to Ford's Garage in the motorcity. The place was really cool to see. There were antique cars hanging above the two, yes two, bars. I noticed if you get the onion rings it comes on an oil can. It was a nicely done theme. Lot of times where I go to these themed places the food is sub par but not here. Burgers seem to be their thing here. Most of the burgers are half pounders but there are a few that are a third of a pound (Roadsters) for those of us that can't eat that much. I went with the Cali which was really good. It's topped with avocado, garlic aoli, pepper jack cheese, tomato and lettuce. The burger was juicy, the aoli had a good amount of garlic flavor and the veggies were fresh. Just 5 minutes is all it takes to drive from The Henry Ford and Greenfield Village to Ford's Garage where the burger heavy menu offers up your 1/2 lb. choice of Prime USDA Angus beef, bison, veg, turkey, Portobello Mushroom and Kobe Australian Wagyu. It also has one of my current food fixations: The Impossible Burger. This vegetarian burger is the future of food and it is seriously the best one I've had yet. My dining friends, local beer and burger aficionados, Jacob and Allison seemed a little bit skeptical of this new super veggie burger and they declined to try. No worries, they live nearby so hopefully one day, they will try one as the folks at Ford's Garage know how to cook them right. The menu has many different types of set ups for your choice of burger or you can create your own. I opted for the classic American and wasn't disappointed. I subbed onion rings for fries and they were the standard commercial rings like you find everywhere else. Would have been nice to have some spicy dipping sauce for them. Besides the burgers, there's a something else in particular that's a top enticement and that is the beer list. 40 taps and 110 bottles make for a mega selection that's going to satisfy any boozy beer imbiber without question. You name the style, they've got it. You'll want to go and check out this uber-touristy, fun filled, 1920's food theme park that's a great destination for tourists who want to come and continue their Dearborn Ford immersion. The food, as always was TOP NOTCH. The service left a lot to be desired. We got there right after opening and we're maybe the 4-5 table in the building. The host, after acknowledging that I just had a major surgery and am visibility not getting around well, audibly sighed when we asked for a table rather than a high top table. Then, halfway to the table, he heard his phone ringing and went back to answer it, leaving us standing there. It took nearly 10 minutes to be greeted by a server, she forgot the requested condiments so we had to ask a different employee for them (by then their burgers were cold). After we intentionally put our napkins on our plates to let her know we were done, it was 16 minutes before she came back with our bill. She also never offered drink refills for any of us. We love the food and will always stop at a FG when we see one, but this was the worst service we've ever had at one, and bordering on one of the worst service experiences we've ever had at any restaurant. read more

I've been here a few times and I've been pretty happy both times. This is a very popular restaurant so there's a good chance you will have a short wait. We waited both times but it was a very short time. The pretzel appetizer was very good. We ordered the kids macaroni and cheese, fried chicken sandwich, and chopped salad. We were all very happy with the food. They offer a huge variety of burgers with plenty of options and they are delicious too. Ford's Garage offers a full bar with unique drinks too. I did not have a Bloody Mary this time but they look very good. They have a few vintage cars in the front of the restaurant too. Perfect for kids to look at and take pictures. Ford's Garage is an excellent experience. The food not only looks phenomenal, but the taste is exquisite. It has the look of a shop. The aesthetic is amazing and consistent throughout the restaurant. From the silverware wrapped in an "oil rag" to the motors in the dining area and the car that hangs above the bar. It has outdoor and indoor seating allowing for the patrons to choose what they want to be seeing and feeling through their dining experience. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. 10/10 read more

Ford's Garage has cool motor decor, unique drinks, and a great food menu! The restaurant is pretty large in size and has indoor or outdoor dining (outdoor dining is first come first served). Come early in the day or plan to wait a little while as this location is usually pretty packed. I will note that their "waiting area" in the front is decent in size and comfortable. Plus the staff at this location are awesome which helps. But let's get to the food! I had a Cheeseburger (forgot they exact burger name) with fries and a side of Mac and cheese. Everything was awesome! I don't think it was a 5 star burger (what even is a 5 star burger?! Will we ever find it?!), but it was totally worth 4 stars for the review. The cheapest dish was, I think, $13 so I expected the food to be better than it was. I also liked that you could sample different beers & you can buy souvenirs. After a morning where a pal and I decided that The Ghost of Henry Ford was compelling us to do things...I came here for lunch. I was tickled pink over the classic cars out front -- and the inside is just as awesome. The love and care put into the atmosphere sometimes says the food may not be up to par (since you're there for the environment), but that's not the case here. I had a classic cheeseburger, and it was phenomenal. It was fresh, delicious, and came out quickly. My cookies and cream milkshake was also exceptional. The menu is fairly large, and they are good at accommodating for special diets and allergies. Our waitress was too notch too -- not overbearing, but was always there when we needed her. Second impression was the extensive beer menu with many on tap and in the can. A great selection that made me want to try out four or five of them (not driving). Impressive. Food was really good. UPDATE: Dropped a star. I wasn't as impressed today. The Cobb salad wasn't prepared as neatly as the first time (not that it's a big deal, but something I noticed). The waitress left all our dirty plates on our table the whole time. I didn't like having all the messy dishes taking up space on my table. And the brownie sundae was not warm at all and was hard as a rock. I had to bash my spoon into it to break off a piece. So it wasn't that good and I didn't enjoy eating it.
