I love the East Memphis Belmont, so I decided to give this one a try too! The menu and specials are different. I definitely prefer the east Memphis location's food. Also, when I visited, there were 2 waitresses waiting 18+ tables. Not the girl's fault, but very slow service for that reason! read more

Ok I can't check in because of covid but my wife and I had delivery through GrubHub tonight. We have made a decision to support local restaurants how we can. My wife loved her salad, what she said, with the dressing she chose idk how that is possible but she said it and I am the only person at this house that is ever wrong. I had the pimento cheese burger. It was everthing I hoped it was going to be. Sweet, spicy, bacony, jucy. I had to change my shirt and it was worth it. This restaurant changed names a while back and before it was good bar food but now it is local eclectic strange things that might seem weird but really make your day. Most of it is normal but the pimento burger with chow chow is spectacular. Order go in when this is over you will find something to make you smile and come back. Thanks for the great meal. I was excited when the new owner took over and initially the change was good. The past few months has seen a downturn in service and food quality. The servers do not write down your order with pen and paper so often things are wrong. Last Saturday I ordered the Shrimp Po-Boy with Fries. The Po-Boy was served on a cold Hot Dog bun and they forgot the fries, it was pathetic. Hopefully they will get this turned around as I love the location and the food use to be great. When you order the Onion Rings, its not an order .... but THREE onion rings so plan on placing a double order if you are hungry. read more

It was real bad!! The waiter pushed the gumbo which was the worst that I ever put in my mouth. Drinks were very weak , and for $7.25 apiece you would expect them to be pretty good. NEW MANAGEMENT: NO SEPARATE CHECKS FOR LARGE PARTIES "BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTER SYSTEM" On a recent Friday night, a dozen of my friends and I went to Belmont Grill. We did not mind waiting at the bar for a couple of tables to free up so we could all sit together (our settled (separate!) bar tabs totaled more than $350). By the time we were seated, it was 9 pm. At this point, before taking our orders, the waitress told us she could not divide our dinner orders into separate checks, "because the computer would not allow it." We thought she was joking & pointed out that there would only be 6 separate checks because we were couples? No, she repeated that it was not possible "on the computer." A couple in our party had owned a local popular restaurant for years; they were mystified that such a computer system existed. The new Belmont Grill owner, Steve Barzizza, was sitting at the bar, so we asked him about it; certainly it was a glitch of some kind? He said there was nothing he could do. He was perfectly nice, everyone was, but... just not really interested in a solution. The place was clearing out, nobody was waiting for a table: but - they didn't seem to care when we chose to leave rather than have to divide up a ticket ourselves. They lost our business and our goodwill. Apparently, that is not something they are interested in. HOWEVER: Soulfish Cafe was a delightful alternative, located just around the corner, and they had no problem giving us separate checks. read more

I normally don't write comments about restaurants, but the world has to know about the smoked pork chop at the Forest Hill Grill. With killer mashed sweet potatoes and fresh squash/ zucchini vegetables, this could very well be the best dish in the Memphis Metro area. Order a good glass of Pinot to compliment and I promise, you won't be disappointed! read more

Watch out for falling rats! I literally had a large rat fall out of the top of the bar onto my purse a couple inches from my head on my birthday. We had just started our expensive $9.50 drinks, and the bartender and other staff could not have been less concerned. They did not apologize, offer a refund or discount, and I immediately closed out my tab (paid in full with no tipl) and left in disgust. We went to another favorite watering hole where the same drinks were $6 and there were no signs of rodents. When the owner found out about this through a mutual friend, he called me and apologized profusely, promising my friend and me a gift card for a return visit, but nothing ever came of it. I mentioned it to the same friend two months later, and another manager called me and promised at least a refund of my $19. That was one month ago and was also an empty promise. At this point, It is not so much about the rat as it is the total lack of regard for their customer on the part of the staff, mgt, and owners. I worked in f & b many years ago, and this is the worst I have ever seen. No plans to go back. EVER. read more

I was already a fan of the Belmont grill franchise, but the new ownership has taken it to a whole new level! They are doing plenty of renovations here that are making establishment a lot more modern, while not completely robbing the place of its classic charm. The addition of big screen TVs has made this one of my favorite spots be addition of big screen TV has made this one of my favorite spots to watch football. For those of you who have never been here, the burgers here are arguably the best burgers in the Greater Memphis area, they offer potato skin as sides which are quite ample in size and quite delicious, and the cheese sticks are very good here too. The wings here are also solid. They have also started adding more decadent specials for those of you who feel like being a little high brow once in a while when coming here. I just tried their delta chicken rolls, and they were AMAZING! Definitely need to try their other specials as they're rolled out. Again now, the thing that really set this place apart is the ownership. The owner comes around in the sure that everybody is enjoying their experience, and is exceptionally friendly. If you have not come here, coming in the near future. And if it's been a while since you've been here, do yourself a favor and check it out again, you will be glad you did. read more

The food used to be awesome, but has been declining in recent years, and the crowd keeps thinning. Despite this, my parents continue to eat there at least once a week. That was until tonight. My mom came in with a boot on her foot from an ankle injury, and my girlfriend and I were on our way to meet she and my dad. They asked for a five top for a group of four, so she could prop her leg up, to which the waitress asked the manager who declined. Next my parents asked if they could maybe add a chair to a four top, which was also declined. The wait staff had their jaws dropped as the manager was telling them he couldn't accommodate. It wasn't like they were full, or even half full. What would they have done if just one person showed up, would they refuse to sit he or she at a two top? My dad made a comment to my mom that the manager should be pumping gas, to which the manager followed them out of the restaurant and became confrontational. That's not how you treat your customers, especially loyal customers with injuries. read more

This is a great dive bar in Germantown it use to be the Belmont Grille but now has new owners. The menu has changed but everything else is the same, it's a great place for lunch and is moderately priced. They have great fries and burgers, I just wish they had better tvs. read more

Should have known when it took them five minutes to push two tables together that it was a mistake. We sat down and waited longer than we should have for someone to take our drink order. It took a while to get our drinks (all soda, tea and water) and then we got to place our order. I cannot say how the food was because after an hour of waiting and the table of eight adults that came in after us and got their food, we paid for our drinks and kids meals and went to Taco Bell. The kids meals were not good though, the burger was burnt and we were told all kids burgers are made well done, even though I asked for it medium. Would not recommend unless you are willing to wait over an hour for food that doesn't seem very good. read more

I would love to be able to tell you how wonderful our meal was but I will never know. My husband and I walked in at 12:20 PM on a Friday afternoon with our 19 year old son and 22 year old son. I asked the waiter did we beat the lunch rush or had it not started yet because there were NO patrons in the place. Just as he was about to seat us (he had the menus in his hand) another server came over to us and said that they had a policy about no tank tops. I looked at my 19 year old son who was wearing his college fraternity tank that was celebrating a recent community service achievement. I turned back to this young man and said very quietly, "this is my son's college fraternity shirt" I got no further and was told very firmly that they had a policy. Well let me tell you my husband is building a very large construction project less than 2 miles from The Belmont Grill. Not only will my husband never return but he will make sure that none of the people working on the 167,000 square foot project less than 2 miles from this place go either. maybe it is time to rethink a policy that will cost you business with its stupidity and lack of judgement on the part of the employees to make a good judgement call. I went here to take a friend for a birthday dinner. When I found a bug in my food, I quietly walked to the server to tell her what happened. I didn't want to upset my friends. Fortunately, the bug was intact at least. Imagine my surprise when the server actually asked if I wanted another sandwich??!! She then told me they would take it off my check. I finally asked for the manager who told me they were sorry and would take it off my check. Seriously? Because I had people with me, I did not have the usual reaction I would normally have. Never have I been anywhere that they would not have apologized all over the place and not charged anything. They didn't even take my drink off the check. The server had an attitude and never came to give us drink refills. I will never walk in the door of this place again and I would suggest the same to anyone who wants clean food!!! read more

My Review is solely on customer service. I am a huge fan of Bite Squad. They are a food delivery service. I like the format, ease of use, and being able to watch as my order progresses. Forest Hill Grill was on their list tonight. So, after wrangling the kids, and looking carefully through the menu, we placed a large order. Over $150.00 Yes, it was a Friday night, but early, and their name was on the list as receiving orders. About 35 minutes after the order was placed, I received a call from Bite Squad. Forest Hill was rejecting the order because they were too busy. Even multiple calls from Bite and talking to their manager could not induce them to cook the food. I requested they not continue to call, and just cancel the order. Regardless of my repeated request a Bite manager called (their 3rd) and explained about policy and such, and after over 50 minutes of nonsense they were ready to prepare the order. Now, throughout, I was telling the Bite customer service rep to cancel my order. Quit trying to cajole them into cooking a meal, but apparently that is the way to get food delivered from this restaurant. Can you imagine having to force a restaurant to take your money? Bite finally listened to me. The order was cancelled. I am sorry, but this is horrible customer service. A restaurant can easily take themselves off the available list, and Forest Hill should have done so. I then had to go through the process of having the charge refunded. I guess if we had shown up in person we would have been turned away? I can not rate their food, but an experience like this is enough to question ever trying again. Customer service can make or break a restaurant. The manager on duty should take heed. Take away folk such as I use Yelp too. read more

Was looking forward to dinner and drinks at the Belmont Grill tonight. Took two families of five and were told they didn't split checks over eight people. They actually turned away a ten-top!! I figure that's a couple of hundred out of their register tonight and $45-$50 out of some servers pocket. Need to think through that policy. read more

Don't let the name Belmont grill fool you. This is not the same food you get at the Memphis location. The sign on the door said they have been training new staff and it showed. My burger was pretty much charcoal and over priced. I spent most of the my time trying to figure out what that smell was. Its the 1st time I've ever felt the NEED to take a shower after just sitting down for dinner in a restaurant. Came here last month. Was pleasantly impressed since the last time I had come. No wait, seated right away. Waitress was nice and attentive. Food was good. I will be back. I will give an upgraded rating of a solid B (prices still a little high for a neighborhood grill). Only negative is that we were seated by the back door, got a little chilly when opened. read more

We are Germantown residents and like the "local" feel of what was the Belmont but has been transformed to the #foresthillgrill Just enjoyed a wonderful evening of good value, well presented food by professional staff in a friendly atmosphere. We were in there last Sunday after church. There was 6 in our group. There were several 4 top tables. After waiting for 10 min we ask the waitress if she could put 2 of the 4 tops together to make a table for us, she said "no the manager doesn't like for us to do that if there are already several tables put together. We have to leave enough 4 tops." Well there were plenty of 4 tops and there was no one waiting for a seat but is. My husband said well would your manager prefer we leave? After waiting another 10 min we did leave and went to soul fish where even though they were busy, unlike Belmont grill, they moved seats together and seated us. We will not go back to Belmont!!!!!! Menu is better but higher priced, $3.50 for a bottle of beer, really you can drink a Brennen's for less. Supported the place under new ownership since purchased treating it a nice cleaner locally owned place. However if you are going to be jabbed as a regular on drinks I looked for a different place for my two or three beers after work. You have to love a place that pokes fun at itself with year round festive indoor lights. Belmont is the neighborhood restaurant that we love, with its quirkiness and warts. They work hard to deliver a quality dinner and attentive yet somewhat humorous service. You come here for good friends, good times, and dependable food. I was excited to eat here last night after seeing all of the recent reviews. The service and attention was great but the food was not. My husband and I both had the specials which were grouper with a crawfish sauce and the Henri steak medallions with a mushroom Dijon sauce. Both dishes had so much salt in them, we both were dying of thirst and needed water. Our son got the kid burger and fries. His kid burger was only a slider and was burned to a crisp and his fries were too salty to eat. He loves cheeseburgers and could not even eat his. The wine special was Liberty School cab. We got a glass of wine each and were then told they were out. I haven't been here in years and do not plan on going back. read more

I regret many things in life, and my choice to visit the Belmont Grill in Germantown is now one of them. After ordering one of the few things they actually had at the restaurant AND on the menu, I regrettably ordered the French onion soup after attempting to order the chicken salad(they were out) and the crab dip(also out) and then the BLT salad(ALSO out). The soup came out and was so old that it had turned gelatinous and black and giggled in the wind. (not an exaggeration). I am no Soup Nazi but no soup for me. My mom, who ordered the cheese dip, was brought something that made velveta and rotel look like food of the gods. The only thing I can describe it as the nachos at the movies or fair with an after-taste of onion and despair. My sister ordered the fried ravioli, fresh from the microwave. This is not pub grub, this is a disgrace. After I got home, I ate dirt to put my tongue and pallet out of it's misery. read more

I used to frequent the Poplar/Mendenhall location years ago, and I always loved the food and the service. This Poplar Pike location however is just awful. The place was less than half-full for lunch at noon on Friday, yet 20 minutes after ordering our food - Club Sandwiches and fries - it still had not arrived. When I asked the waiter about the delay, he instantly displayed an attitude. Once rec'd, the sandwiches were tasteless, dry, with very little actual lunchmeat, mostly stale bread. The fries were good, hot, and crisp, but we had to inhale the food in order to make it back to our jobs within our lunch hour. And the prices were a bit steep, considering we both left there still hungry. As we walked through a nearly vacant area to exit the restaurant, 3 staffers (one was our waiter) were standing at the end of the bar chatting, and not one of them said - Goodbye, Thanks for coming, Have a nice day.... No wonder the place was so empty. Do not waste your time or money here. read more
