From start to finish, our experience at Fork Hill Kitchen was incredible. The moment we walked in we were greeted and seated by the owner. We started with a bottle of white wine, crisp and light. My fiancé and I shared the beet salad and macaroni and cheese. Both divine. My fiancé got the rigatoni entree (special) and I ordered the short rib. We finished every single plate we ordered...the portions were not overly huge which I appreciated! Nothing short of rich, fresh and delicious flavors. Cozy and fantastic restaurant in Union City! We got the mushroom ravioli appetizer, the pork chop which was a special, and market chicken all of which were fantastic. They had recently acquired their liquor license so we got a couple of Hoboken brewing beers which were also great. We ended the night with the bananas foster. The bananas were less cooked than I expected but it was really good. We went for an early dinner and with our infant daughter and the staff was very helpful to accommodate her stroller. I was waiting until Fork Hill Kitchen opened for dinner service to write a more comprehensive review. I was luckily one of the few people that got to partake in their Friends and Family event as part of their soft opening. The standout of the night was the pumpkin tortelli. It was absolutely delicious and brimming with flavor. I would recommend it to everyone. The steak entree was also delicious and tender. It came with a side of well seasoned swiss chard and some fingerling potatoes that were amazing. A few other notes on their lunch menu: Their short rib sandwich was very good but the knockout for lunch is their butternut squash soup with caramelized apples. If you're lucky enough to be there when it's their soup of the day definitely get it. I am excited to see what else Chef Eric comes up with. This new restaurant is located on the corner. It's fairly small inside but has great food to offer. Ordered the FHK house burger and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. The burger was delicious- kinda reminded me of a Shake Shack burger. They use a sesame bun and I recommend adding bacon to it. The spicy chicken sandwich is supposed to be made with hot honey and although you can definitely taste the sweetness from the honey, it wasn't spicy at all. read more

So rich and mellow. Service was good. It was Monday 9 am and it was 10 degrees outside so only a few of us in there. The bathroom is well decorated and clean. We plan to go back for lunch and dinner. Just opened last month. The owners and the staff are extremely friendly and kind. Food is solid. I had grilled cheese with tomato and side of French fries. Nearly everything's made fresh in house. Their crumb cake is the best I've ever had. I didn't know crumb cake could be moist. I'm used to the gum scraping, teeth shattering nature of most crumb cakes. We came here during the snowstorm to have brunch. It was such a cute spot but the staff and owners is what will make me return. Great peeps! I had the egg dish with pancakes and my hubby had the omelet. I like the eggs, perfectly cooked but the bacon was a tad burnt and the pancakes were dense. It was more like a cornbread pancake, may just be the batter they use. They make a great cappuccino. Hubby loved the omelet and would order it again. Great spot! So far I've been here twice and both times were tasty. The pork belly was good but it was served with some type of relish that was unbelievable! All social distance/capacity guidelines are being followed. So happy that this place is able to be open during these times. And the fries were so delicious! I wonder what they fry them in? For the entree, I highly recommend the steak sandwich, spicy chicken and Cubano. The steak is flavorful and a large portion. I just don't understand what I've experienced. This place is a hidden gem. The food is creative, hearty and flavorful. The ambiance and attentiveness gives you a feeling of being a loved family member. Their menu has plenty of vegetarian and carnivorous options. We ordered the potato soup and it hit the spot as the weather has started to turn cold. As a side, we also ordered their homemade burrata which was perfect. My SO ordered a mushroom risotto dish which was just delicious; great texture, and it felt like this is how risotto should be made. I did not think pomegranate would work with a mushrooms risotto, I was wrong. Their inventiveness has reopened my eyes and left my palate craving more. I got their special burger (variation of their FHK burger) which had rye bread. The burger was juicy and flavorful. My mouth is still watering. The bread was crisp and did not get soggy of fall apart with their burger. The general feeling I have: the food combinations should not have worked, but they did and I still can't get my head around it. The owners (husband and wife) are Hobokeners and very friendly and attentive. Not only did they help us find a spot to park, he kept an eye on our car for us. Parking is a little challenging during Covid ; plan on arriving a little early. The hospitality did not stop there. They noticed that we were cold and they brought out heat lamps. At this point the establishment is BYOB. We did not bring any wine, but they gave us a complimentary glasses of white and red. They made great efforts to insure that this might be one of the best experiences we have ever had. I can't wait to go back! read more

I went there with my wife on a Saturday for lunch. I think the place can accommodate 50-60 people, but they only had seating at the bar. The decor is simple and clean. The person working at the bar was very friendly and attentive and put in our order quickly. We ordered the big breakfast combo, the spicy chicken sandwich and The Perfect Pear-ing cocktail. The food came out quickly and the portions were perfect. Not too much food, but just right. The big breakfast was as good as you would expect it to be and their take on the hash browns was excellent. It was shaped like pie slice and it was nice and crispy on the outside. The spicy chicken sandwich wasn't spicy to me (I can handle a mildly spicy food), but the pickled vegetables, hot honey and crispy, moist chicken made it a winning combination. The fries were also on point. The Perfect Pear-ing cocktail had the right amount of sweetness and not too boozy, which works for me and paired well with the spicy chicken sandwich. If I'm ever in the area, I would go back again. I would give this place a 4.5, but it's not an option and I don't want to knock them to a 4, so that's why I'm giving them a 5. read more

I've been wanting to try FHK forever - and I'm mad I waited so long! Came for Saturday brunch -- breaking my restaurant quarantine. Picked FHK for my first COVID outdoor dining experience because I knew they had a nice outdoor space, covered to protect from the sun, but also with limited seating so we wouldn't be packed into an outdoor space with too many tables and too many people (like I've seen in other spots on the waterfront). The staff here are really hospitable and friendly - we really appreciated their accommodations! We felt well taken care of and safe throughout the entire meal. Love that they have a giant menu board that they bring by and place on the table - no need to touch a menu that others have touched! Also like the fact that it voids the need for individual throw-away menus, making it environmentally friendly. Also love that it's BYOB - we brought a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and they quickly brought over an ice bucket to make sure it stayed cold (since it's been 90+ degrees out!). But also want to mention that the overhang + umbrellas + fan keep the air temp manageable. Was nice to be able to eat outside and not roast! And the decor with all the plants really helped create a relaxing and chic vibe in our little urban concrete jungle. We both ordered the FHK burger + fries and these plates were SO GOOD. I was thinking to get something lighter because of the heat, but I've been wanting to try their signature burger for so long (thanks Instagram!). So glad I did. Perfectly portioned and cooked. Will definitely order this again! Fries were the right balance of crispy and soft and had really nice flavor. Can't wait to come back again for brunch and to try out the dinner menu. The owner, Ed McBride, and the rest of the staff really make you feel welcome and bring a personal touch to the place. This is where locals like myself can call home and feel at home, and, indeed, anyone from anywhere can do that, too. I've tried their delicious mussels, braised short ribs, cavatelli marinara, and a special, seasonal ramp onion and pork sausage appetizer. They make superb classic martinis and manhattans as well. I had a fabulous meal at Fork Hill recently with a friend visiting from France. The salmon and blueberry cobbler were especially delicious and prepared differently than I'm used to. The cobbler was light and fluffy rather than the typical heavier cobbler. The restaurant uses seasonal Jersey Fresh ingredients including tomatoes, peaches, corn and blueberries - all favorites of mine. The owners and staff are all very friendly and accommodating. I am beyond excited that I found FKH and it is conveniently located in my neighborhood. This is my second time dining here, the first time was a few weeks ago when they are only doing outdoor dining. We had octopus and steamed mussel for appetizers and the duck breast and papparadelle, everything was very good. This time we came for brunch. The crab cake benedict was so good. It was richly seasoned with tons of flavor, and you can actually see large pieces of crab meat. My boyfriend had the stake and egg, it was very good as well. A friend and I went for lunch and the menu is very cut down for lunch it was basically just sandwiches and they were out of many of the items we requested so honestly it was really underwhelming. I got the breakfast sandwich on English muffin since they were also out of croissants and it came with potato chips. Wouldn't recommend.
