This is a good go-to for sizzling iron plates. I like the sea-land combo with fish and Rib eye, but all the options are good here. They give you a big piece of Steak with a full fillet of fish. There are economic options, including a $7.50 steak tenderloin, but I would go with the combo for a better bang for your buck. You would get enough for two meals. The Asian dishes are also very good and they have sweet and flavorful Milk Snows(a softer and smoother shaved ice). I recommend the Mango and mochi or Taro. Pudding topping is a must add. I would hate to see for this restaurant to fail because is the only place that service this unique style of food in cerritos or near long beach. The 4 stars is primarily for the shave snow that is here. It's by far one of the best I've had. I've had their food before as well (pop corn chicken and the sizzling plates etc) but i come here pretty much just for the shaved snow. all the flavors are great it just depends on what you're in the mood for. Really like the pasta. I usually get it with mushroom sauce, and it comes with salad with thousand island dressing, corn soup, and garlic bread. I wish they put in a couple more pieces-- I think it's only one piece per pasta meal. Also, I'd go for the green milk tea (jasmine milk tea) since it's actually better than the really common tea chains. The large is only 3.05, and it's really worth it. I am very disappointed from the bad customer service specifically this old lady around her 50's, 5 foot tall, short hair who literally yelled, argued, and gave me the attitude as I asked if the shaved ice I ordered was ready. This is one of my all time favorite place to go eat, as a future chef and foodie this place is the bang for the buck hands down. I am from TW so their food brings back memories and this is the only close place to where I live that serves authentic TW steak. Again...full 3 course dinner + bread for 2 barely $30. The steaks are easily 10-14 oz depends on which cut you order, they're no prime cut, but with TW marinading technique...it becomes juice and super tender. Terrible service. Waitress spoke English, but insisted on bypassing me in favor of my Mandarin-speaking friend. Beyond rude. If you need to clarify my order, ask me directly; do not ask my friend in a language I cannot understand. Food was mediocre. Ordered "stewed pork" rice plate (which should have been labeled "fatty pork" according to the Chinese name). Plate was large and came with broth, steamed rice, braised green beans, cabbage, and three pieces of meat. Everything was bland. Was not impressed at all, and did not finish. After 4 seasons closed down 2 years ago, I have been craving Hong Kong Taiwanese food and this as close as it gets. It was the closest thing to Four Season's Cafe. I like how their menu is very simple, yet sweet. One page of the menu is for the sizzling platter and the other page is just the basic Taiwanese foods you would get in Taiwan :) yummy! Anyways, I decided to go for the sizzling plate because EVERYONE around me was getting it. I ordered the sole fillet with the mixed sauce with spaghetti and it was really, really good! The mixed sauce is basically the black pepper sauce and the mushroom sauce mixed together. The black pepper sauce by itself is spicy, but the mushroom sauce is not. So I guess if you get the mixed, it adds a kick to your dish. The sole fillet is boneless and cooked just right with that extra crisp on the sides :)! They also gave you a sunny side up egg. Personally, I get queasy when I see someone eat a raw egg yolk, so I decided not to eat the egg. If you want to eat the egg, but not eat it raw, I suggest you flip the egg over so the raw side is on the sizzling platter when the platter is still sizzling :) It was a big meal, and I was surprised I ate the whole thing :O Each person also gets a bowl of iceberg lettuce with thousand island (pretty good, starts of the meal well) and corn cream soup (has no taste, bland, and barely any corn) and garlic bread (yummy!). All in all, each person was around 8 dollars, They do have sizzling dishes that are around $13-$14 and those the the more expensive seafood dishes. Then, we ordered their taro shaved snow ice and it was not good! It is the closes thing you get to class 302 shaved ice, but it does not taste the same AT ALL! :( The shaved snow melts really quickly and the taro balls tasted weird. The mochi balls didn't have any taste and it was a random mix of jellos and taro. It didn't appeal to my taste buds. Their shaved snow ice is soo small too! It's like half the size of class 302's and more expensive. I wouldn't recommend the shaved snow ice. All in all, I would come here to eat the sizzling plates again. Despite the raw egg in my plate, I couldn't find a single imperfection to my main course :) read more

I've been to Formosan about 4 times, usually on Sunday afternoons after church. The service isn't great and the waiters always seem to be juggling 10 different tasks at one time. Most of the servers also barely understand English, although I always come in a large Asian group, which helps with ordering. Formosa restaurant is a utopia of Korean steak. They do not have a vast restaurant like other 5-star restaurants, but the employees are very nice and jovial, and the restaurant is not boisterous. First, I want to tell you that the steak, which had one big meat in the middle with noodle on the side , was so good and credible. It stunned, me and you should believe me that the steak was incredible. In the steak combo, you have an abundance of sides like vegetable and soup and etc ... However, one thing that the restaurant needs to resolve is that the service was so slow. I asked for the check, waited like 10 minutes, and then I had to ask another waiter to get me the check. At this point, I was so glum, thinking they were not paying attention to the customers. This place made me want to berate them because I was upset at this restaurant; in addition, they let all other people go in, like a couple or three people went first when we have waited like 30 minutes. My family eats there all the time. It's legit Taiwanese food + fusion. Almost all the dishes I've had are pretty solid - Fried rice, beef noodle soup, dry noodles, and their sizzling platters. My best friend ALWAYS gets them. I think he's tried them all. They come with options of black sauce or spicy sauce and rice or spaghetti. I definitely recommend the sizzling platters. Portions are pretty big. I actually starting liking the place because they were relatively quick about bringing Heaven clouds over (Taiwanese shaved snow). They have a pretty decent range of flavors - milk, taro, peanut butter, mango with a bunch of toppings. The only one I dislike is their kiwi strawberry with milk flavor snow because the fruit aren't always fresh. Tried their drinks once. Really disappointed by their slush. Love this place. Plenty of parking. Decent location. Nice service. Only accept credit cards for bills over $20. Gets busy weekends as it got more popular. read more

If you are choosing between the chicken or the steak sizzling platter, I would go for the chicken because their steak is a bit on the tough and chewy side. I just had lunch here with my family yesterday. We ordered the popcorn chicken, rib-eye steak meal and shrimp chow mein. My kids also ordered the mango smoothie and strawberry smoothie with boba. The popcorn chicken was okay, but nothing close to the appearance in the menu. It looked pale and under-cooked, but tasted all right. I wish the serving was bigger. The rib-eye steak was all right, but nothing extraordinary. The shrimp chow mein tasted good, no complaints here. Service was not bad, not great- just the usual Chinese restaurant-level.
