I would usually go to a local mechanic to get my oil changed and my light came on whole driving so I saw a big sign that said oil changes so I yelped them out and saw all the reviews so I said to myself why not. F1 Auto is my go-to shop for all service needs on my car. Over the last year I have taken my cars in for brakes, oil change, alignment, and other maintenance related issues. I have also referred all of my friends to F1 and they have become regulars now because of the unbeatable pricing, service, & turnaround time. I am so impressed with this place. As long as I have had a car I have been looking for a place like this. Their business practices are superb. They are ethical, skilled and wonderful to work with. I have been recommending this place to my friends and family because I want all of them to have as good an experience as I did. Arthur, the owner is amazing, he is very considerate of the customers experience and as well as doing a fantastic job on my vehicle. It is such a relief to find a place and person that I trust. I also really appreciate that Arthur looks for ways to keep things as low cost as possible while giving great service. I have been there twice now and I feel comfortable taking my car into the shop without fear of being ripped of. This place really is as good as it gets. The first time I came, I was in need of getting my flat tire patched. I was treated so well by the owner and they patched my tire in 15 mins. The environment in the office is so nice and clean and there are many magazines to pick from and free wifi, so I was able to get some work done and be comfortable while I waited. Plus the Americana is just a block away. Arthur, the owner, is great to work with and is very hands on. He is a great business man and is doing everything right. He is incredibly kind and generous and a straight shooter. He is knowledgeable and took care of my vehicle immediately, it was as though I was being taken care of by a friend. He is ethical and has a lot of integrity in his business practice. He also referred me to a few auto-body shops locally and was very interested in working with my budget for future repairs and services. As a women it has been hard for me to find a place that I feel safe asking questions and can trust. My experienced at F1 Automotive was so positive that it actually made me want to bring my car in for repairs because I trust them to be honest and ethical, to be respectful and knowledgeable and take the best possible care of my pocket book and my vehicle. Formula Auto is new to the scene in Burbank. My son's car was misdiagnosed by three different mechanics. I found this out by paying huge amounts of money for these mechanics to tell us what was wrong with the car and they were completely wrong.. Find another place to have your BMW fixed. I paid over $4500 for engine work and a transmission service and day three after they finished my new alternator blew up from arcing and fried it and melted the two metal hoses that supplied it. I called Formula the next morning from my driveway because when I tried to start it missed and rocked badly. I've had my car for 19 years and this was new and disturbing. I called and complained to Arthur the manager at Formula. He easily dismissed it as 'water on the plugs that would eventually dry out.' Thing is, I paid thousands for a complete engine service that included new plugs, new knock sensors, Intake Manifold Gaskets (4), Intake Manifold Cover, Intake Manifold Gasket, and 16 other line items I won't list here. But basically everything on the engine. After doing all these repairs Arthur insisted on me going to his favorite steam cleaning shop to clean it so he could see things better. That place flooded the engine so much that I limped out of there and back 5 blocks to Formula to have them reveal 1" of standing water inside my 'heads' (?). I'm not a mechanic but they removed the covers on my engine and inside the top heads were two 1" ponds of water. Formula Auto dried it out, I assume, and sent me on my way. Then the next morning I'm calling Arthur to complain of the abrupt attempts to start my car. After the third try the car started and I got my daughter to school on time. I took Arthurs explanation that it would evaporate. Then the second morning, the same hard abrupt attempts to start my car. I got it started and dropped my daughter off and headed straight to Formula to tell them face to face that it happened again. At the front desk both Arthur and Vonn, lead mechanic simply told me it was just moisture in the plug area that would evaporate. They didn't even look under my hood or put it up on the rack to visually inspect my concerns. This didn't sit well with me but I trusted them as you have to do with mechanics. Then the next morning, same thing except 10 feet out of my driveway the car explodes. I limp my car back into my driveway to then see the 100 foot continuous stream of oil on my driveway. I assume it was the transmission as the second gearhad been sketchy for awhile. I tow it to my regular and recommended mechanic Avus Auto right across the street from Formula Auto. Avus Auto is expen$$ive but they know there BMW's. If my car needed a new transmission I preferred Avus to do the work. I notified Vonn at Formula of what had happened and Avus let him come in and inspect the car at their shop that morning. The damage showed the melted plastic on the alternator and the burnt hoses. It also revealed that a protective cover on the alternator wasn't removed before installation. This 'cover' is in place during shipping to keep anything from falling into the alternator. It does restrict the breathing and cooling of the alternator if left on which it was. Probably wasn't the problem with it blowing up but still. The burnt and nearly melted through solid metal hoses showed repeated 'arcing' I was told. They told me I was lucky my car didn't catch on fire or my computer system didn't short. Then they notice the transmission pan leaking oil. Vonn confirmed this that morning on the spot. Turns out Formula Auto didn't put on the OEM (Original Equipment from the Manufacturer) I insisted on, paid for, and is reflected on my invoice. They put on Chinese parts we found out. Both the gasket and the transmission filter were not OEM parts. Here's the real dig. Arthur is defiant and accusatory of a 'conspiracy theory' from the other mechanic. Not True. Vonn acknowledged the transmission leaks as the rubber gasket they used was sticking out a 1/4" in some places and not at all in some places. The OEM gasket for my E34 540i is a paper gasket. With all this evidence of poor workmanship and falsely putting in sub-par parts Arthur takes no responsibility. Saying it was under warranty and I should have let them fix it. Like I ever would have learned the truth if I did that. I am not taking my car back to someone who lies about parts, installs items wrong, and nearly catches my car on fire. So Arthur refused to pay me the $2100 I had to pay the good mechanics at Avus to fix these things right. So here I am writing my first ever review on anything. Now I'm off to Small Claims Court to sue for all the other gaskets and things that were probably Chinese made too. Don't trust these guys. Their denial on any fault shows the character of this place. Even with direct inspection of the vehicle immediately upon arrival and Vonn's confirmation of the leaking transmission Arthur sends me emails saying the transmission never leaked after their work. Unbelievable arrogance and refusal to take responsibility is bewildering. Stay away. Poor workmanship and poor character define this place to me. read more

RUN - don't walk - AWAY from this place. I used to go here regularly when it was first a Midas, then when it was managed/run by a lovely, wonderful young man named Yuri. I ended up having to file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair recently because after taking in my car for back brake repair, for which they charged me just shy of $400, I discovered the brakes were still squeaking. I had mentioned several times that it was an odd occurrence in that they only squeaked when the car was cold and I first started it up and backed it out of my parking space. Upon going back to this place, they never put it up on the rack - instead, the "assistant" simply got in the car and backed it up, and moved it forward. Back and forward. He then asked if I would get in the car and drive around the block with him. I reminded him - again - that the squeaking only occurred when the car was cold. "You never know" he stated. After of course nothing was heard, he then stated that there is a "breaking in period" for new parts and I should "drive the car at least 100-200 miles" before worrying about anymore squeaking. Kid you not. I left, furious, and after taking it to a AAA certified repair shop (which I should have done from the beginning) I was informed that there was 1) leakage which "should have been caught with the first repair" and 2) the new parts were not installed properly. There went another $350+. When the BAR when to Formula to ask for their side, they had the nerve - THE NERVE!!! - to state that I NEVER told them the car only squeaked when backing up and they never had the chance to put the car on the lift as I "just walked out". They did offer a $250 allowance on further repairs as a "good faith" measure. Who are they trying to kid? They never did the job correctly forcing me to spend more money and then they lie about it to a government agency! As stated - RUN away from this place. SHAME SHAME SHAME SHAME! read more

I was looking for a honest and great mechanic, like my dad once was . I was in need of one on a Sunday and was very skeptical about finding one. But had to find one asap due to the engine light that went on on Saturday night. I called around on Sunday and was on my way to firestone shop but ended up in front of this shop. Decided to call since I couldn't find the other shop. Arthur answered the phone told me to bring it in to check it out that it could be a couple things;minor or major. He had kept me updated through out the whole thing, unfortunately the part had to be ordered from the dealer. So we had to wait til Monday to get the part and fixed. He texted me in the morning letting know the price and asking whether to proceed or not. Wasn't a bad deal at all, sucks that the part from dealer was pricey but what can you do. Anyways Arthur texted me that my car was ready and if there was anything else they can help with? I asked about getting an alignment, he gave me the price and decided to go thru with the great deal they offer! He calls me to let me know my car is ready to be picked up and that they rotated my tires and recommend that I should replace one of them. I couldn't be happier with finding this shop and how great service they provide. Such a genuine and caring person you are Arthur!
