Went here yesterday evening for the first time and had a great time! Made reservations - highly recommend especially for a weekend visit - for 5:15 and upon arrival was promptly seated upstairs. Views are amazing of the Manhattan skyline and we felt comfortable with the seating arrangements during these new times! The pizza is just delicious - I had the Pugilese pizza and it was perfect - the crust is one of the best I've had! The food arrived quickly and was super hot and tasty! I went there for the first and they mistaken our pizza. We sent it back and asked for the right one. They made it so fast it was saggy and the dough not well cooked. They took it back and offered me a refund. They said refund was made and it was in June and still haven't received my refund regardless calling and texting the responsable person and that person saying is "in process". Seriously? read more

I am obsessed with Fornino and always have been. The ambiance is so relaxed, everyone is so kind and the food is amazing. I'm gluten-free and their GF pizza is so good you would never even know it's GF. They were so accommodating during COVID as well and everything was so well spaced out that my friends and I had no concerns about dining here. I had a reservation here today, 8.29.2021 at noon, and I regret it. The hostess today (white and navy blue striped shirt, faded black pants, red lipstick) was just rude and nasty to me for no reason! All of the other servers and staff persons were cordial and friendly, but from the second I walked onto the rooftop with my baby in response to my rsvp text stating that my table was ready, she just kept giving me attitude. I CHOSE to have a good day and to not put her in her place. After my cousin arrived, she said that we could have the table for two hours, then defensively proceeded to remind me that she'd told me that when I first arrived, even though I did not say anything back to her!!! She was just arguing with herself! We knew that, I had not forgotten, and I'd told my cousin this before she and her baby arrived. My cousin picked up on her attitude and spoke to her, repeating to her that it was fine to move us, etc. The hostess did all that only for the party that requested the tables to have chosen to eat downstairs anyway. A sandwich I'd mistakenly ordered had a long, fine, straight black hair in it, so I returned it. She proceeded to TRY to grill me, saying that she didn't notice it before. I calmly explained to her that the hair was there, my baby pulled it out. It certainly wasn't OUR hair texture, it looked more like hers! Then she huffed and gave me a stink face and walked off with it. The manager came and refunded me, gave me my receipt and was polite and cordial about it (no apology though). She didn't even give us the high chairs I'd selected with my RSVP. My baby fell off the bench, face first onto the concrete floor. The hostess promised to get ice, but returned to our table three times without it and the whole time looked at and spoke only to my cousin, as if I wasn't there. Funny thing is, I am the one who ordered the most food, making three different orders, and I tipped well each time. The fourth time she returned I asked her about the ice, and she brought it eventually. The food was delicious, and, as I've stated, the servers were wonderful. Went here tonight and it took an hour to get pizza. I'm not even so upset by that considering it's Friday of Memorial Day weekend. They were out of both forks and red sangria. Also, not the worst part. The pizza was good at best. The worst part was the infestation of water bugs/cockroaches crawling on the floor. I moved from one table where they were against the wall and all over the floor to a table seated closer to the bar area and more centrally hoping not to see them. However, I was not so lucky. 3 stars average over 2 visits. First was on a busy Sunday. The TPLT was amazing. Recommend, but the cooking area caught our eye as disorganized and a little dirty. Pizza looked yummy! Second was on a quiet Friday around 1115. No service or even a glance or a "can I help" with 7 (yes I counted) staff members present. It was a little before lunch time, but they had opened at 9! Both pizzas came out quickly but they had way too much cheese, so much it had congealed and slid off the sides, and way too little sauce. Got here at about 4PM with two friends in hopes of having some pizza before we left the brooklyn piers. It turns out that the rooftop doesn't open till 5PM. We waited, walked up and it was pretty nice. Some high top tables by the bar and bench seating for the larger groups. You have to walk up to the bar for your drinks and there is a separate counter to order your pizzas. The pizzas were good and the pours were pretty generous. Spent about 45 bucks for 2 pizzas and about 30 for three drinks (both prices include a 20 percent tip). Crossed off the list, I would recommend it to others but I'm not too sure if I would drive an hour to get some again. read more

This place was completely off the hook busy on a Friday night. It might have been because it was bib/race packet pick up day for the Brooklyn Half Marathon close by in Brooklyn Bridge Park. It was a bit unbearably crowded, but I'd give it the benefit of the doubt that maybe other days would be much more pleasant. Because... it was VERY pleasant to be up on the rooftop on a nice day with delicious pizza. To share, we got: - brussel sprout pizza - mushroom truffle oil pizza - corn on the cob All three were delicious hits. I found the prices were a bit too steep for my liking. Went with friends to Fornino on warm Saturday night to have pizza and drinks on the rooftop overlooking a beautiful sunset. It was busy but we were lucky enough to snag a table for our party of 5 right away, There are no hostesses or waiters/waitresses, instead you order your food from a counter and pay for it, then servers bring it to your table. Then there's a separate bar where you get drinks. While I understand why they have the food ordering and the bar separate, it still makes getting everything you want a long process involving waiting on two lines, paying twice, etc. For pizza I went with the Al Roker (love the name), which has fontina, caramelized onion, roasted pepper, soppressata. and rosemary. The pizzas are personal size and are around $15, which I'd say is reasonable. My pizza was good but not amazing. I was most disappointed in the red sangria pitcher that my friends and I split. It was overpriced, weak, and didn't taste very good. This place is good for the nice rooftop space and the view overlooking the water but otherwise, I honestly don't think it's particularly great. read more

Came here for a company outing and really really enjoyed the pizza. Thin crust, excellent sauce and the pepperoni was my favorite. Being able to enjoy their roof deck on a sunny, beautiful Friday afternoon also helped. The special drink that day though? It was just so-so. Went here the other night for my friends birthday with a group of around 12 or so. This place is very conducive to a group setting. We ended up getting three tables which was good enough for all of us to be seated comfortably. The thing that sets this place apart from other is the setting. It has a rooftop that looks out onto the pier of Brooklyn bridge park. It was awesome. We got some pitchers of Brooklyn summer ale and enjoyed some drinks while looking at the Manhattan skyline. What can be better than that? The food here is pretty decent. They have pizza and sandwiches with a few appetizers to throw in as well. The pizza was brick oven thin crust and was pretty good. The rice balls were also a crowd pleaser. Next time I go back and I will definitely go back I will look to try more of the options. read more

Where do I begin :) the food was ready in about 10 minutes or less . We were a large group of about 20 ppl . We ordered 10 pies , vege sliders , 2 shrimp on a pretzel , and many many drinks . The service was great . There was no long line to wait on like Grimaldi had . The view was breathtaking . The service was good, I just wish they had plastic utensils . I ordered a white wine and there was a small nad floating in it . Which was forgiven bec I got a new drink . My new found favorite. I've heard from a friend about this place that the food was good and the place vibe was nice and casual but didn't check it out until yesterday and she was right! Now that is warm (at times too hot) this is a really ideal dinner place especially 5-6 pm when the heat starts to dissipate and the outdoor seating becomes so pleasant and nice. We went up to the roof top and we were told to sit anywhere we wanted. You can see the manhattan skyline much the same as you would from those very pricy restaurants from pier 1/2 like cecconi, River cafe, sugar case grill etc but much less expensive and stuffy if you are just looking for a casual and easy night. You order from food from the pizza station (including salad) and you order drinks from the bar. You get a number when you order food and food will be delivered to your table. Tips probably optional cos not much service but I do tip a bit for the food to be delivered to the table and same for the bar tender. The pizza crust was thin kind which I prefer as I don't like too much bread. We ordered the 4 stagioni which we enjoyed and the watermelon feta cheese salad (very refreshing). Two draft beers - the Brooklyn summer ale was perfect for the weather. The only less ideal If I have to name one was the food came much much later than the salad but it was quite a busy night. read more

The location and view are the best part of this place. Went on a Saturday afternoon wanted to sit upstairs but it was packed and screaming children were everywhere. We sat downstairs and ate outside which was rather nice and a decent view. Food wasn't bad but it was cold. Mac and cheese was good also the meatball sandwich both would have been better if they were warm. A little pricey for basic food options but all in all not too bad. I'll start by saying that my chicken sandwich was luke warm and the taste was ok the bread was cold and the chicken was warm. What can be better than a restaurant serving pizza that is next to a water park? Not much, especially if you are an energetic child - or child at heart. So this wonderful restaurant located in Brooklyn Bridge Park right next to the Hudson River is a real gem. I will not get into all of the pies, sandwiches, and salads my family enjoyed immensely. Rather, I will sum them all up in three words . . . The Al Roker. It is a perfect personal pizza with Fontina, Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions, Roasted Peppers, Tomato Sauce, Rosemary, and a generous helping of Sopresatta. It is just about the perfect thing to accompany some delicious Brooklyn Pale Ale. And this pizza lives up to the reputation of its time-honored namesake. (Colored glasses not included.) Despite considerable excitement and relatively good reviews, this place does not seem to take cleanliness seriously during COVID-19, at least for take out food. The same person who was handling the money and many of the tasks on front end of the house packaged the pizzas- touching them, and the surfaces they sit on- all without washing hands or even using hand sanitizer. Came here for my bday Saturday 7pm because #1 Pizza is delicious, #2 Rooftops looking out at the skyline & sunset is neat, #3 it's a great spot for groups of all sizes. The pizza was soo satisfying (esp. Fungi & Nutella calzone). Their drinks were great & inexpensive too. The staff was super friendly and helpful in deciding what to get & relaxed in hours they close since on the website it says vaguely, sunset. They said they kind of base it on the when the crowd leaves, generally 9pm is when they try and close. That night overall was a blast. I did however want to comment on their Yelp page hours. They say they're open noon to midnight but when I tried to go again with my boyfriend Monday for lunch it was closed. :( Was really looking forward to round twooooo. I don't know if this is a Yelp issue or if Fornino can adjust the hours but it'd be great if they cleared it up on Yelp for any future pizza lovers that might riot if it's not open when they get there with empty bellies. read more

Amazing pizza! We had the margarita and white pizza with truffle oil and mushrooms. My favorite was the white pizza, just because I don't have it usually. Service was pretty fast, it only took about 10minutes for us to get our pizzas. They have a full bar with beers, wine and cocktails. A beautiful rooftop view has earned this place an extra star. It really is a wonderful place to check out the Manhattan skyline. The food is mediocre and the service....terrible. We waited for well over 45 minutes for our pizza. I inquired and was told that they were coming out of the oven. 15 minutes later....still no pizza. When I complained about our wait (and the fact that many patrons who arrived after us were already eating their pizza), I was told "No, there are actually a lot of people who have been waiting over an hour." So there you have it. Go for the view...maybe a drink...but not with children and certainly not if you're hungry! read more

I hate to write narrative reviews--one experience is only one experience--but when you've waited nearly two hours for small pizzas to be delivered to your table, you know you've encountered someplace special. Note that this is a massive city concession inside Brooklyn Bridge Park--not at all easy to manage. On a warm September Saturday night there will be tons of customers. And the menu seems designed to create difficulties: tiny personal pizzas instead of ordinary family-sized pizzas. But the fundamental problem is clearly that no one's running the show; they haven't worked out their staffing needs and chain of command. Avoid it. Fornino is definitly a place to visit in NYC. The view is absolutly amazing. We had a wonderful evening in a very good and relaxed atomsphere with delicious pizza and drinks under the great view. The prices were very good. It is not a fancy restaurant. You have to go to the counter to get drinks and pizza and you're sitting on ale-benches but it is a great atomsphere and it was perfect for us since we had been walking around all day and didn't want a fancy restaurant. read more

I've eaten here many times. It's lovely sitting on the roof terrace and looking at the fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline. The food is great! I recently had my birthday party here on the ground level terrace and it was amazing! The staff transformed the space, put up beautiful red umbrellas, set up a bar, and served everything buffet style. I couldn't have been more pleased. Highly recommended !!! read more

Fornino is HORRIBLE! PARTICULARLY KAITLYN VASQUEZ AND JULIO. This restaurant is beyond unprofessional and dishonest. My fiance and I attempted to book a large table for a small wedding brunch. We reached out via the event email on the website and Kaitlyn replied. She told us there was availability and confirmed she was working on a contract then radio silence. We wrote again but nothing. When we called no answer. We then called the restaurant directly and spoke to Julio who let us know that they had booked a more lucrative event on the same day and that they could not host us. Also he knew nothing about this. 9 days before our wedding. How disappointing. Do NOT do business with this restaurant. They are frauds! In a market with so many restaurants, please chose an honest one with people who have integrity employed. read more
