Slow service (one waitress for the restaurant), bland food, not very clean. The Caesar salad a got had about a half a bottle of dressing on it- it was disgusting. read more

Stopped on a road trip with the family. Walked in to staring eyes like what are you doing here? Waited for a table to be prepared for our party of six. My 2 year old grandson was excited to be out of the car and was taking to all of us. Hostess came back and said he needs to be quiet. I think there were 6 other people in the restaurant. HORRIBLE...do not go here. Service was lousy. Took the waitress about 15 minutes to even come to our table once we seated ourselves. food was bad, literally swimming in butter and left a nasty after taste. Building is dumpy, they don't take credit/debit cards. If it wasn't getting late we would have walked out but we had a long drive that day and just wanted something to eat and didn't have time to look elsewhere. We are home for Memorial Day week and know many places aren't open yet. We had heard The Fort View was open for lunch and dinner. ( cash only). We sat at the bar and were so impressed at the cleanliness, warmth and charm of the restaurant and bar. We ordered Parmesan and garlic wings and bacon scallops! Delicious. We have company company going this evening, I ordered 2 more orders of wings for appetizers for guests!!!! You won't be disappointed and we will be back while we are home!!! read more

After driving a while on Route 22 in the dark lost We stopped here...very Hungry. Greeted by the lovliest staff and we wanted to be quick so. We ordered the Chicken Parm with fries and a Meatball Parm with Salad...oh an app of fried mushrooms Basket of mushroom..delicious with horseradish dipping sauce. Open faced sandwiches arrived quickly...1st fries were deliciously crunchy...plates loaded with meatballs, sauce and fresh cheese piled on top tender and tasty both the Chicken and the Meatballs If you go get the home made blue cheese dressing. Get the mild wings with blue cheese. I don't even like blue Cheese. But this, this is good blue cheese.

This place is disgustingly dirty. As soon as I walked in,it smelled like urine. There were cobwebs all over the ceiling and the floor was filthy. The owner had her dogs running around the restaurant! One of them urinated on a customers jacket. The service was terribly slow. We weren't even greeted or seated so we sat ourselves. Children are not welcome! That was made very clear and the handwritten sign as you entered the building made that very apparent. Extremely rude business owner with no decency or class. Stopped in for dinner. Fun, old "road house" type atmosphere. Wings are in fact pretty darn good. House hot sauce may not be for everyone but they very well with the beer. Not Buffalo wings per se. Enjoy them for what they are vs what they are not. As for dinner, this place disappoints. Scallops were fake scallops in a boring butter sauce, with tasteless mash potatoes and overdone carrots. I'm a local who travels for work so I eat out a lot. I really enjoy the Fort View. There is another review about the wings not being Buffalo wing and all I can say is "Thank Goodness!!!", I'm from Buffalo originally and do like the wings from home but these here are my absolute all time favorites. And the blue cheese is absolutely amazing. Great view of the Fort out the windows in front. Some dishes can be a little heavy for my taste but all around solid eats and a nice atmosphere with a super friendly owner. And I just had the most amazing piece of homemade cheesecake! Cranberry Walnut with homemade whipped cream!!! Wow! The crust was superb. read more

It needs to be noted right off the top that this review centers 100% around the wings at the Ye Old as this is why i was brought here by my completely clueless brother to try "the best wings i have ever had". They were in fact the worst wings I have ever had. Smothered in some god hideous thick meat chili something or other. It really is indescribable, and you have to experience it to get a true sense of what it was. What it wasn't, was buffalo wings. The establishment itself was old school cool. Dark and dusty (not literally) roadside inn across the street from Lake Champlain. Lovely locale, lovely owner/bartender/waitress. I have a hunch just from the feeling of the place that the rest of their menu ranges from solid to great and becaue of that I probably should have went three stars. However I didn't actually have any of that food so I hesitantly must go by the wings and they frankly made me want to commit a murder suicide in the place starting with my brother. Really deserves 3.5 stars. I visit this area virtually every summer, and have eaten here a few times over the last few years. It's unassuming-looking and on a not particularly lovely stretch of Rt 22 (because of the equipment Amtrak tends to park across the road), but the food here is better than you'd expect. This is a once a year trip for this Californian and her son. My dad and his wife take us once each visit. The owner is awesome, and will work with your needs when necessary. With only about four local restaurants here, I will say this is my favorite! Just bring cash or check. No credit cards! read more

The Ye Olde Fort View Inn is kind of off the beaten path for the greater Ticonderoga area as it's outside of the town proper, but it is worth a trip there. The place looks a little dumpy on the outside and the decor hasn't been changed in at least twenty years, but the food is first rate. They are known for their wings and they are really good, but get the homemade bleu cheese sauce is among the best I've ever had. We tried the Ethan Allen sandwich (roasted on the premises turkey with bacon & cheddar served open-faced) and the Montcalm Reuben which were both excellent. The onion rings are super crispy and the fries are great as well. The desserts are all made on the premises. We tried the brownie sundae. The brownie itself was not the best I've ever had, but it came with homemade whipped cream and homemade fudge sauce which were great. read more

Ordered the chicken sandwich, Not sure what i actually got, I assumed it would be a single piece of white meat, What i got was diced up chicken chunks, lots of fatty marble like pieces. I could not bring myself to eat it. I called the waitress over and politely said that i didn't know it was chunk like meat and would like to order something different. She went on to insist that there is nothing wrong with the chicken and wasn't sure why it was not a single piece but assured it all ok. I asked again if i could just simply order something else, she INSISTED the sandwich was as it should be, At that point she told us since there was "nothing wrong with the chicken" she would not take it off the bill. This is my third summer visit to the Lake George area but my first visit here. We were greeted warmly and immediately apprised of changes to the menu due to being out of certain foods.
