2.75 stars. Some highs, some lows. Jumping right in. Decor and general ambiance is great with the natural lighting, huge windows and views of the mountain, the pond and the tram. Quality made non-wobbly tables were nice, comfortable and have pillows for back support. Coffee wasn't exactly piping hot, although the food seemed decent and was plated with intent. Menu choices are creative with good variety. Prices are high, but it is a ski resort. Service is fair, perhaps even poor. There was a sense of non-structured, unprofessional confusion when it came to the staff. It occurred to me these folks maybe had never worked in restaurant service before. Linda came off as piqued or peeved when we didn't want the breakfast buffet. It was frustrating placing an order with her, it felt like she didn't want to spend more than a handful of seconds with us, before she started drifting. I had to call out the last part of our order as she was literally walking away. Parting thoughts: I think with a better trained, more pleasant staff this could be a more satisfying experience. I also think Forte should offer a brunch drink menu, with items like mimosas and Bloody Mary's. Definitely has potential. We love this resort and will be back to try again in the future.

Though the elegance and intrigue of this granduer hotel brought us in, the restaurant unfortunately left me wanting more. The interior of the restaurant was very clean, and I definitely enjoyed the openness that allowed you to look outside at the mountaintop behind the restaurant. There was plenty of open seating in both a table style and booth style but no outdoor options. The server we had was incredibly nice and on top of making sure we all had our meals in a timely manner as well. Unfortunately, that's where the compliments end. The actual dish was lacking some flavor. Several others at my table also ordered the Halibut, and all of us had to add a good amount of salt and pepper. Despite adding this, the fish and orzo pasta underneath was still on the rather bland side. The amount of fish was also, in my opinion, rather small. 3 of us at the table were still hungry after eating the fish. I feel that for the price we are paying, the portion should definitely have been more. All in all, it was an elegant restaurant that lures you in with its accompanying beauty, but your meal is far from beautiful.

Came in with my family to have an early dinner was greeted promptly. Our server was great very attentive and helpful. Food is where it goes wrong. We waited over 45 mins from order and it wasn't even busy. Then when the food came out everything was cold. Lamb was cold and sauce was gritty and couldn't finish it. Lasagna was too acidic for me and it landed flat on the pallet. Pizza was good but other than it was cold and soggy. Would I try this place again. Maybe once the weather clears up.

Cocktails

The cocktails were dynamite. The service was ok. Food left a good bit to be desired. I had one of the sbagliato spritzes and it was so good. Our server, Chase, did a fine job and was attentive. Food came out a bit slow, but it wasn't anything extreme. Here's where the sticking point comes in: the Halibut was pan seared, broiled, then put in a broth. The broth gave it flavor, but unfortunately the cooking technique gave the fish a papery/cardboard texture that then became soggy. It was an interesting choice. We liked the fish itself, just not the outside. The mushroom risotto was really good, but the portion felt like it was on the smaller side.

We really enjoyed Forte. The service was excellent. Our server was nice and attentive. We got: Arancini - It wasn't the best we've had, but it was really good. I would get it again. Ceasar Salad - Very good. My wife and I split it. It was the perfect size. I would get it again. Rigatoni - This was excellent. I highly recommend it. I wish it came with a few pieces of bread to sop up the meat sauce. Kids pasta - Looked good. My daughter liked it.

Branzino (sea bass)

I'm not sure why this place gets a bad rap. All things considered, it was a decent meal for me. The service is good, though they could probably use aditional help. Place was clean and good view out the window. The sea bass I ordered was prime. Other than the price, I really don't see why this place gets such low ratings...

Food and Service were just north of good. Being a resort restaurant, they rely on seasonal staff from all over the globe. Our server was kind, knowledgeable but a little scruffy. I felt my bowl of pasta for $36 was a little much, Especially since the halibut was only a few more dollars. Good place if you're entertaining clients or looking for a place to grab a drink.

It's on the pricier side for the portion size you get but the ambiance is nice and it's located in a great hotel! Salmon carpaccio was tasty. Chicken saltimbocca was surprisingly not dry and good flavor! Wish they added more of the fig sauce!

For me, coming here in the future my place will be at the bar with appetizers. Bar environment is 5/5 As far as the rest goes I think the food is good, not spectacular. 3/5. In the future I think I'd come for an appetizer and a couple of drinks and that's it. I felt the veal was tough on both ordered plates and potentially I would have preferred chicken. That being said the sauce was great. The grappa sauce had amazing flavor and the Marsala sauce also had great flavor. Plus the funghi appetizer was great with the bread. All of it was enjoyable enough for a return visit. This spot has very friendly staff, they move at a classic Alaska pace. Meant for sitting down and enjoying the company of someone you're eating with but not designed for getting in and out the door quickly. Come with the intention to get things as they come and enjoy the ride.

I also got three of their cannolis, and they were fantabulous as well. I really enjoyed the hint of lemon. Service was great. They also offer pizza al taglio which is Italian speak for pizza by the slice. Next time I go, which will be soon, I'm going to try one of their calzones. I got a large, three topping pizza with three of their delightful cannellonis for under 50 bucks. Both are packed with flavor. Whether ordering in or ordering to go, keep in mind it takes quite a while--almost 10 to 15 mins--for the staff to make your sandwich, so I wouldn't recommend that you stop here in you're in a hurry because you're not going to get it out fast. In this case, call ahead about 30 mins or so if you're picking up. The prices are a little high, but it's worth the price for the quality of the food you're getting, which I can't say for most restaurants in the present era (2020s for those that are reading this in the 2030s and 2040s, if this platform still exists then lol!) Either way, the quality is HIGH and the flavor factor? HIGH! The Classic Piadina is very fresh tasting and comes with greens. It only comes in one size, so it's a little small for me. Still delicious! The Nonni is a pretty large sandwich, if you're getting the full sandwich. The onions combine with the meat enhances the flavors. The building that Originale is in presents itself as a very quaint and relaxed lunch spot with bright colors and large windows. It's a place you can go to sit and talk with friends. I look forward to trying more of their sandwiches.

I went with the "Favorito," and let's just say, it instantly earned its name. The prosciutto cotto was pure-savory-bliss-melt-in-your-mouth good. And the focaccia- fresh, herby, and perfectly balanced in thickness. It hugged the fillings just right without stealing the show. Also, the tomatoes- I did not expect them to be so buttery and delicious. I may have paused mid-bite to appreciate them. Yes, I'm that person. As a die-hard cheese lover, the little bonus cube of cheese on the side felt like a tiny gift--like the sandwich was giving me a wink and saying, "Hey, I see you." Originale, I'll be back. When we arrived there was no one at the host stand for a solid five minutes. Other staff walked right past us without so much as a "someone will be right with you," which set a pretty uncomfortable tone right off the bat. We eventually got seated, but even with the restaurant being pretty empty it still took a while before a server showed up to the table. Our server wasn't rude or anything, but the energy was just completely flat. It felt like he could not care less about being there. Sodas got refilled once the entire night. Between being seated and appetizers, and again between appetizers and our entrees, he was basically nowhere to be found. The thing that really got me was being asked if we wanted boxes while our plates were still full and we were just sitting there having a conversation, never once offering to top off our drinks until we finally asked. It's a shame because the food really was solid and the restaurant itself has a nice warm vibe to it. ORSO clearly has a lot going for it and on a different night with more attentive service it could easily be a 4 or 5 star experience. For now it's hard to rate it higher than a 3 when the service makes what should be a really nice dinner feel like an afterthought.

Our server was patient, and very pleasant, bearing in mind that one of our party was a crotchety old man. Prior to ordering, he and i arrived first, and were perusing the menu, and he was relating the items he liked, and what he planned to order. He told me he liked both Shrimp Scampi and Shrimp Sinatra. Our other 2 attendees arrived and we ordered - i got Italian Chicken, which came with Soup or Salad, and Garlic Bread. Crotchety Old Man ordered Shrimp Scampi, I'll leave out the other 2 in the party, because I'm the reviewer, and i can only give feedback on what i ate, and my experience. I got the lemon chicken soup, i did like that, it was quite a thick soup, and the citrus flavour was noticeable, but not overpowering. I did get some chunks of chicken in the soup The entrees came out relatively quickly, and IMMEDIATELY there's an issue. Crotchety Old Man announces that he ordered Shrimp Sinatra, and he does not want "that" and he was actually quite rude about it (Hence the name I've given him) the 3 of us and the server told him he had ordered Shrimp Scampi, and he was getting ruder, "Take it away, i don't care what you do with it" and the highly patient server, said she'd have a Shrimp Sinatra made for him. Honestly, I'd have walked off, hence why I'm not a server I did not wait for his entree to be served, as it was WAY past my personal dinnertime, and I'd already been hangry when i got there. Ok, so there was a huge amount of food. Mine was served on fettucine noodles, in a white wine and lemon sauce, with what appeared to be 2 chicken breasts, butterflied. Some parts of the chicken were very tender and juicy, others seemed to be quite tough. The noodles were ok, the sauce was not that creamy, and somewhat lacking. Just ok. The garlic bread - i am not a fan. I like my garlic bread to be made from scratch with real butter, and real garlic, and in my opinion this was not that. I make good garlic bread at home. And it like it made with a french baguette, aka small round slices, with liberal tiny pieces of freshly diced garlic. I rarely use garlic powder or onion powder at home. I prefer real garlic, real onion. I will say that quality beats quantity every time. Serving me a huge pile of food won't impress me. I will not take this home in a box. It's just not worth the calories. Just give me 1 butterflied chicken breast, juicy, tender, well seasoned, over an adequate portion of beautifully cooked noodles, in a perfectly creamy white wine sauce, topped with browned, finely grated Parmigiano Reggiano and my eyes will roll in my head with delight.
