Orange chicken, bbq beef, cashew chicken and fried rice. Not even edible - it went right into the trash!

Hadn't been here in a long time, but really had a taste for Chinese tonight. I got the three item combo with fried rice, bbq pork, cashew chicken and orange chicken. My friend got hers with lo mein, orange chicken, king pao chicken and egg rolls. The only thing even slightly edible was the orange chicken, but it wasn't anything I would call good. Everything was cold, tasted like it had been on the line for days! Vegetables were soggy, without texture, meat was dried out, pork was big pieces of pure fat, sauces were disgusting, the cashews in the chicken were soft! How does that even happen?? Even the freshly made lo mein we had to wait for tasted old. This was by far the WORST meal I've ever had and all of it went into the trash. Don't waste your time!!

The food is good and the portions are large and the price is nice. Definitely will be returning to eat here again

What a great little gem for Chinese food!! Small mom n pop shop, family business.. always a big supporter!! Small little shop, you can take to go or sit and eat. We ate inside, tables and chairs could be a little cleaner, wiped down. Only star I knocked off here. Food is delicious, fresh and hot!! It's a buffet style where you order your items. Plentiful in servings and portions. Reasonable prices and enough for leftovers Everyone has different tastes with Chinese food and can hold their own opinions when you give this place a try. We definitely recommend and will be adding this place to our gem collection of places to hold onto. Time to eat! Cheers

Came here again after years. Lo Mien 4/5: Great texture, thick, large portion. A little salty but great flavor! Orange chicken 4/5: Great flavor but something is missing. Maybe too sweet. But spicy oil helps! Kung Pao Chicken 4/5: Amazing flavors but not enough chicken. Overall better than average food. Definitely coming back and plenty of seating. Service is great, they are attentive and quick.

Today I visited Fortune Cookie Express for my Chinese New Years dinner, and to honor the memory of a friend who died way too young, who used to have lunch with me there on Wednesdays. Today I had some delicious sweet pork, chicken zucconi and mushrooms with fried rice and noodles as a 2 item combo. It came with a small fountain drink. This set me back about $15 then I added a egg drop soup for an additional 2 bucks. About what one would pay for an AYCE Chinese Buffet, but I got to keep my leftovers. My food was warm, the soup hot. The pork had hints of fat and a nice sweet sauce. It was fairly tender, with a few tough pieces. The chicken zucconi and mushrooms were well prepared and also had a pleasant sauce. The fried rice and the noodles were both good. Not the Best I ever had in my lifetime, but then I have been around for 70 years now. The young man that waited on me today was friendly and generous with the portions he scooped on my tray. I had pleanty leftover for a midnight snack. The one thing that deprived Fortune Cookie Express from a 4 star review was the fact that they had no restroom for customers. Seems to me if I recall correctly that fact and the fact they no longer give the Yelp check in eggrolls. I think I'll only return for takeout from now on.

Wonderful little buffet style Chinese restaurant. I've been coming here for years. The portion sizes are generous and very flavor full. I love that they offer a cup of chili oil at every table I put that stuff on everything! Their garlic jalapeno chicken wings are amazing when they are freshly made. The only draw back is that when there is a line of people waiting to order, the wait times can be a little excessive. But honestly, it is worth the wait sometimes. Whenever we are craving Chinese food this is definitely one of our go to spots here in Claremont.

Orange chicken and fried rice is great!

We come here for dinner once a week. It is a buffet style restaurant. The portion sizes are generous. The quality is usually pretty good, although from time to time sometimes it's a little off because when it's slow the food usually sits out for awhile a gets a little stale. The only other con is that when it gets busy and there is a line you can expect to wait awhile to be served. But regardless I'd thise 2 cons we still come back!

Great for catering. Salt and pepper chicken wings were amazing, flavorful, and a crowd pleaser. Would definitely recommend!

I would come back and order the Mapo Tofu again out of everything that I had there.

According to the restaurant's posted hours, they close at 10:00 PM. My family and I arrived around 9:15 PM, expecting that we still had enough time to order dinner. As soon as we walked in, the server immediately told us they were already closed. My mother politely pointed out that the posted closing time was 10:00 PM and simply asked if the kitchen happened to close earlier than the dining room. Instead of explaining the situation professionally, the server responded in a very rude tone: "Well, you guys can eat and order, but at 10:00 PM you need to be gone and out the door." Another employee then stepped in to back him up, making the interaction feel even more uncomfortable. I completely understand how the restaurant business works. I've been around the industry long enough to know that kitchens often stop taking orders before closing or that staff are trying to finish cleaning at the end of the night. If they had simply said, "We're sorry, but our kitchen is already closed," or even, "We can still serve you, but we're finishing up for the night," we would have completely understood. There was no reason to speak to us disrespectfully. What made this experience frustrating is that we never came in with an attitude or demanded special treatment. We were polite from the moment we walked through the door. We simply asked a reasonable question based on the restaurant's posted business hours, and instead of receiving a courteous explanation, we were met with unnecessary hostility. Customer service is just as important as the food. A welcoming attitude can make guests want to return, while a rude interaction can overshadow everything else. Unfortunately, this experience left such a negative impression that I won't be returning. I also would not feel comfortable bringing my family or recommending this restaurant to friends because everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect. I hope management takes this review as constructive feedback and reminds their staff that even when it's close to closing time, a little kindness and professionalism go a long way.

I did not taste any honey or walnuts in the shrimp, just a lot of mayonnaise. The lo mein was the best dish of the night. We took some leftovers home in the cute packaging. The branding here is definitely a strong suit. As we were sitting on the patio, there was a steady stream of customers ordering & picking up takeout. Service was fine. We sat for quite awhile once we were done, and we had to ask for to-go boxes. Then about ten minutes later, our server came by to run our cards. Verdict: FS is cute and bustling. Not considering it in my rating, but not really sure how I feel about it. As for the food, the dumplings--amazing. We got the scallop shrimp pork ones. The skin is on the thicker side but the texture is so bouncy and the filling is incredibly umami and juicy. One of the best dumplings in San Diego. Each plate comes with 14 of them so it's pretty hefty. They don't really do modifications especially given that all the dumplings are pre-filled, so keep that in mind. As for the other items, they're passable but not as excellent as their dumplings. The beef noodle soup is good, but a little light on beef and veggies. The scallion pancake is super crispy, a little more like croissant and pretty mild green onion flavor. The noodles in the zha jiang mian were a little too al dente. The zha jiang mian comes with bean sprouts, carrots, cucumbers, celery, and ground pork in the black bean sauce. Overall great food for a reasonable price. If in doubt get more dumplings rather than their other dishes; that's what they specialize it and are best at.

The wings were PERFECT! It was my Sons first time trying them. He instantly fell in love! We ate them outside and went to town. Cant get a better wing, anywhere. Large, crispy, salty, garlicky. Perfect wings! Second time there, I went with the lunch special for the salt and pepper wings. You get 10 wings, and a container of plain fried rice. Total was like $18.50. Once again, wings were bomb! I love scooping the garlic and green onions on top of the wings and biting in. Such a good bite! I love this place! So good! It's fast,…read morethe portions are large and the food is incredibly tasty! Get the beef chow fun. Nice sauce and noodles are chewy. Get the vegetarian fried rice. Nice use of mushrooms in this and the rice is nicely cooked. Get the sweet and sour fish fillet. Big portions and the fish is breaded but flakes nicely when you eat it. Get the salt and pepper chicken wings. FIRE. My cousin has a disability and I just want to thank the staff here for being so kind, patient and understanding to us as we had our meal. If I could give a hundred stars, I would. This place is a must go to for great Chinese food in San Diego.
