Ate here while on a business trip in Sparks. Ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and Szechwan Given (spelling?). Both were very good. It was stir fry, not breaded which was nice. Portions were HUGE, you could easily share a dinner portion with two sides of rice. Very friendly servers and nice atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend this place for good Chinese grub! I usually have great experiences basing my dining selections off of yelp reviews, but this time I found myself very disappointed. Some colleagues and I ordered dinner for pickup from Fortune Palace while working in the area. Two of us ordered chicken and vegetables and one ordered beef and vegetables with white sauce. We also ordered fried rice and eggrolls as side dishes. I will start by saying one of our orders was incorrect; we had ordered beef and vegetables with white sauce, but received the brown sauce. Our colleague is careful about his diet and wanted the white sauce as a healthier alternative. Needless to say, much of his platter was wasted because of this. My next complaint is the quality of the food. All of the food was extremely bland, including the eggrolls. I had to douse everything in hot sauce to give it any sort of flavor and the chicken in my chicken and vegetable dish was rubbery and thin. It reminded me of the kind of chicken that comes in microwavable smart ones meals. Like the beef and vegetables plate, much of the rest of the food went to waste and we will most likely not be returning to dine here. read more

Wow! This is a gem. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the Reno area. I can't believe it took us so long to find it. Even though it is in a strip mall this not a typical take-out Chinese fast food. It is more along the lines of Palais De Jade. It is totally appropriate for a date, business lunch or a nice family dinner. The hot and sour soup tasted authentic and was not overly thick. Spicy Beef was excellent as was the Beef & Broccoli and the Shrimp Cho Mein. Nice selection of lunch specials. Good service. Tasteful atmosphere. Delicious food. Driving out in the area looking at homes my sister decided to stop here for lunch. A decent enough looking place with soft music in the background. We were seated and brought water straight away. I ordered the kung poa Chicken and my sis the orange chicken, both with hot sour soup. The soup was a bit gelatinous but OK. My sis said hers was quite good with a crispy outside and a tender inside. The kung poa was fine not the best but not the worst. So if one is in the neighborhood this is a place that will make for a decent lunch. read more

Came in for lunch with my husband. Started with the salad. The salad is simple- lettuce, shredded carrots, rice noodles, and crushed peanuts. The dressing is absolutely amazing! I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch special, extra spicy. I did not care for the flavor of the Mongolian beef and it was not spicy. My husband really liked his sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. The service was great- the staff was attentive and very friendly. I will be back to try other dishes and for more of that delicious salad! read more

Love this place! I have eaten here for years and have never had a bad experience, though I have had a bad ones at CJs Palace down the street. The lemon chicken is great! Not that of your average fair. They use a whole chicken breast and coat it with a nice, crunchy, crust then they cook it in peanut oil, it is topped with a lemon sauce. So juicy and good :) Other great items include honey walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef/chicken (if you like onions) postickers, and hot and sour soup. Great prices and ALWAYS great service. read more

I resisted going to Fortune Palace for over a year even though a few friends said it was wonderful. I was starving last week and broke down and went. This place far exceeds the quality of Shanghai and every other place I have tried. I go the chicken chow mein, pot stickers and won tons. The noodles are thick and filling, pot stickers are larger and appear hand made and the won tons were mouth watering. The price is right as well for lunch. ( I am told that the price goes much higher for dinner.) I've giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the service. They did get us everything we wanted and didnt mess anything up but they could smile more. They seem very "business" about it - a smile goes a long way. I'll be back! read more

Hands down some of the best Chinese food I have had, and I have had a fair amount of Chinese food. Our waitress was fantastic - friendly, personable, incredibly helpful, with great recommendations. 2/14/2018 (is when we went and tried them the first time) Trust me I am a HUGE Chinese Food fanatic, and coming from Colorado, the Chinese food sucked bad there. Love CO, but after coming here and needing something to eat (we just moved in last night) we decided to go here. I had some skepticism because it wouldn't take long to know if it was a bad idea, but last night, omg the food was AMAZING!!!!!! The service impeccable, very clean, staff was friendly. The food was flavorful. Oh and I am a harsh critic, but they blew me away with their service and food was honestly hands down some of the best Chinese food I've ever had; what also made my night all the more great was the fact they also serve Thai tea! Say whaaat!! Honestly it was a bit expensive once we got the tab, but for what you get- the amount and how good the food is, it's so worth the price! I can't give enough stars, or give enough praise at how good this place is! This is my #1 Chinese go to hands down! read more

I rarely find myself in Sparks, let alone this far into Sparks. But I did happen to be on this side of town one afternoon... and I thought I would give this place a try. The decor was pleasant and the staff was very helpful. Always refilling my water and everyone was extremely polite in general. I ordered a lunch special w/ kung pao chicken, fried rice, and a salad. The salad dressing was a peanut vinaigrette and it was amazing. The flavor was to die for! The reason for the 3 stars instead of 5 is.. the chicken was a little disturbing. The flavor was not great and there were several peices of questionable texture. I would however try this place again and simply order a different dish. or perhaps just pig out on salad! read more

Fortune Palace - Chinese Near Me - Sparks, Nevada

TL-DR: Used to be nice, but policy changes and bad attitude of staff really have soured the experience. Try the Thai place on Vista instead. They care about your business and make great food. I have been a loyal customer of Fortune Palace for more than ten years. Let that sink in a bit. It was a nice Chinese place, that seemed to care about a good meal and customer service. The heavy-set young man that now works the front counter used to peak out from behind his mom or auntie's knee when I first started getting food there. My how things have changed... It used to be anything you ordered for take-out would be the same as if you ordered it while seated in the restaurant. Then they started removing things like the broccoli from the General Chicken if you ordered it for take out for a simple example. If I'm paying the same, sit-down price then I should get all the same items as though I were sitting there. If trying to justify that difference as covering the to-go packing materials, be up front about it and charge a fair price for them instead of shorting the customer on what they've paid for. I placed an order for pick-up today and was told they now no longer even include an order of plain, steamed rice with each full entree. I didn't have time to then cook my own before the order would be ready, so I agreed to the extra charge. Now, I've worked in the hospitality industry and I know how many pennies a cup of cooked rice costs, including power and/or gas required to cook it. Charging a dollar for that rice instead of including it when you would still get that same rice for no extra charge if ordering while seated in the restaurant is one of two things. Option A - expenses are being so badly mismanaged that they can't afford to include the rice without going out of business. Option B - they're choosing to scalp the customer as much as possible, simply because they feel they can. This was somewhat disturbing to consider, but it was the response I got when I picked up my food that has lost them a 10+ year customer for life. I asked the young man at the counter why they're charging for the rice now, his response "Well, lots of other places are doing it so why not?" Option B it is. I wasn't about to get into a discussion of the argumentum ad populum fallacy, or poor customer service in general, and simply replied that if that was the attitude behind the decision then I might not be a customer much longer. His response, while looking about as bored as possible with a Zero-F's shrug "Well, you win some and you loose some." Congrats kiddo. You certainly lost this one, but you didn't have to go quite so out of your way to piss me off and make it obvious how much disdain you hold for customers. I hope others will see this and choose to spend their hard-earned cash elsewhere. So congrats Fortune Palace. You got $3 more out of me than without that policy, but the bad attitude cost you so much more future revenue. I spend less and get more at AYCE sushi. Bye Felicia. read more

Not sure if it was a bad day or there quality has changed, because most of what we ordered was not fresh and borderline spoiled. We added a Popo platter to our order this time - the egg rolls were mostly fried dough and the cabbage inside was ehh, very hard to take a bite because of how hard it was. Something was not right and the foil chicken, didn't taste fresh and had a funky smell. Fried prawns were dry and mostly batter. Crab ragoons were okay though. Definitely not worth $14 An extra star because the Singapore noodles were good. But the Popo platter was so terrible I can't give any more stars. read more

Went to this place doing a Yelp search. We were in Sparks staying at the Peppermill and decided we wanted something good, but different. Wallah! We got both. The food was slow coming out, and there had to be at least 20 To Go orders while we awaited patiently. In the interim the place began to fill more with apparent locals. We ordered the Shrimp & Scallops Kung Pao along with Chicken Fried Rice. No awareness that the plate came with Steamed Rice. When our food arrived my wife and I looked at each other with that "This is delicious look!" We have tried many Chinese restaurants throughout the country, and this has to be the best! read more

Came here for the first time last night. I'm never in this area so it was a good chance to review a restaurant that I haven't been to before. We ordered the typical beef broccoli, friend rice, sweet and sour chicken, crab wontons, and pot stickers. We did eat in but walked in to a packed house. That always tells me that the food is good. The sweet and sour chicken had large pieces of white meat that was cooked to perfection. The chicken wasn't dry at all. I wish I would have gotten the sauce on the side like I normally do as it tends to get soggy on the way home. The beef broccoli was wonderful. The sauce was thick and flavorful. The crab wonton was also very good, thank you to the other patron that told us to ask for the special spicy mustard. It paired nicely. The fried rice was standard. Nothing really stuck out about it. The potstickers is where I dropped a star. They were steamed well with a nice crispy bottom, the dough was overly thick which I enjoyed but the pork filling was bland and tasteless despite using condiments.
