This is a quiet, well-run Asian restaurant. It has a fairly comprehensive menu of all your favorites, but not so vast that the quality goes out the window. The last time I was there I had the Singapore Street Noodles. This is always a gamble in most places. It's way too easy to make them greasy, bland, mushy, flavorless, or, worse, extremely spicy to the point of being inedible. That wasn't the case at all. The noodles were tender, not mushy. The sauce was perfectly balanced. The vegetables were still pleasantly crispy. Best of all, the dish wasn't greasy in the slightest. In fact, the curry sauce was nicely soaked into all the ingredients. All in all, it was one of the best I've had in town. The service was cheerful, unobtrusive, and always on point. My drink glass was never empty and there was always plenty of condiments brought to the table for the appetizers. 2 orders of Mongolian beef, 3 orders of steamed rice, 1 order of veg egg rolls, 1 order of veg chow mein, 1 medium sizzling rice soup ...... all for 3 people , 70$ for everything, not cheap, however we didn't eat half of the food with 2 healthy appetites. If you like to sweat this is the place!!! I mean if you like spicy food this is the place. I chose this place because of the pictures of the chow mein looked so damn good(plus the reviews were good). Good hot and sour soup-check! Off the hook combo chow mein-check! Sweet and crispy honey walnut shrimp-check! I highly recommend the lunch specials! The hot and sour soup was very good and had a perfect balance of flavor and spice. The honey walnut shrimp was crispy and fresh. When it comes to rice go with the pork fried rice. On our first visit to this restaurant our food was outstanding. We went back a second time and it wasn't as good. Chalked it up to being a Sunday. This last Sunday we took our out of state, from Tennessee family there. The Crispy beef tasted like it was for beef broccoli. Limp and no crisp. The Chicken chow main was not good no flavor. Really wanted to like this place. Super close to my house, etc. We got the spicy, crispy beef, chicken lo mein, wonton soup, egg rolls and crab Rangoons. This place is my husband & I's GO-TO for some authentic chinese food. We live down the street so it's very convenient for take-out but we also have dined in a few times! The service inside was very pleasant and they were very attentive. Not to mention, the portion sizes were large as well! The atmosphere can be a cute date night or a filling dinner for you and your family ! Prices are reasonable since the portion sizes are so plentiful. This place also has a bar that seems to have regulars so I think that's a nice touch, makes the place seem very comfortable and welcoming. We usually always get the Pork Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, and switch up the third entree with either Mongolian Beef or Sweet&Sour Pork, or anything we haven't tried/had in a while. We've been wanting to try this place out as it always looks crowded! We walked in at 6 for Togo order and were helped right away and even offered waters as we waited. It would be about 15 minutes. Without he 15 minute wait several people were picking up large to go orders and there were many families coming in to eat dinner. That was definitely a good sign. We got our food and it was so BOMB! The potstickers were fresh because they were just steamed and fried just the right amount and their sauce is no ordinary soy sauce. It was perfect for the potstickers to be dipped in! The chowmein was great, not too greasy and had flavor and good amount of veggies, and the crispy pork was second best (right behind the potstickers)! The last two of our dishes were perfectly packaged as a to go order bc the cooks even went so far as to cut a vent in our to go containers so the food wouldn't get steamy/soggy and would maintain the perfect amount of crunch! Never thought of that, but it made a difference and that to me was going above and beyond for their customers. We will be back soon! Also, they had happy hour and a mini bar to hang out and eat at. Wanted to go out for a New Years Eve dinner to bring in a better 2021. When I was a kid, it was customary for my family to go out to Chinese and we would order certain dishes to bring in luck. Usually duck, seafood and noodles. Trying to carry on a tradition, I went here because my favorite Chinese restaurants are not open for sit down. This place got such high reviews that I thought it would be fantastic. Well, if Uncle Roger from Tik Tok was with us, he would definitely be asking some questions. Why are scallops so heavily breaded and when did lemon sauce become orange? If you decide to try this place, two dishes you should not order, lemon scallops and roast duck. I have always ordered scallops and they usually are U10 or 20 size, and I don't expect a huge quantity. When the dish came out, it wasn't what I was expecting. Usually scallops are lightly coated and pan fried with lemon and garlic. This was an unrecognizable mess that you would never be able to tell what you are eating. All I tasted was breading--no scallops. At $20 a dish, give me 5 scallops and prepare it correctly. Bad on you Fortune Palace for trying to disguise your small u30/40 scallops. The duck I ordered was really fatty, no meat and no Chinese five spice flavor. I know duck is a fatty meat and that is ok, but this duck was not fresh tasting and I think they threw the old duck in the fryer to pass it off as roasted. Now, if you stick to the Mongolian beef and chicken pan fried noodles, that was actually very good. The fried rice is meh and the char sui pork was just ok. I don't think I will come back. Two reasons, the quality of the food was sub par, they call this Fortune Palace, because it cost a fortune to eat here for the quality they serve. I really do not like restaurants that cut corners. Will not be a repeat customer. So sad, and that pretty much summed up 2020. read more

Food was prepared promptly, and it was good and hot. Portions were very generous. The Lemon Chicken was breaded but it had NO sauce, so it was not lemony. Very disappointing! I believe this was an error, and not the way it was supposed to be. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was good, with lots of shrimp, and some actual walnuts. The variety platter of appetizers was also good. What happened? This was my go to place for years. It is so very expensive now for small portions. It must all be premade and reheated because you cannot cook fresh dishes that fast. We ordered my favorite dish, the Singapore noodles that came out in less than 5 minutes, They were limp, more brown than yellow, very little curry and almost too greasy to eat. For me, there's are a few types of Chinese restaurants. There are those that are incredibly authentic, offering regional specialities, there are those that try to cover all Asian cuisines with a large emphasis on Chinese American food, and there are your neighborhood Chinese American establishments that offer exactly what you expect and what you see on every other menu in town. A great neighborhood Chinese American restaurant is a beautiful thing. The food is consistent, quick, and always crowd pleasing. For me, Fortune Palace is one of these neighborhood restaurants. From the ratings on Yelp, it's clearly beloved by those who live nearby, and either my experience was entirely different than theirs, or we ordered the wrong items, or we should have dined in OR we have different standards when it comes to this cuisine because I just didn't get that five star feeling from the food. We ordered a Szechuan Eggplant with Pork, Beef Chow Fun, Chicken Curry, and stir-fried green beans for take out. The eggplant had the right sweet flavor profile and the ground pork was a nice addition, but the sauce just didn't have anything else going for it. No garlic, no spice, just sweet, and to me, that's not what this dish should be. The chow fun noodles also had a basic sauce of mainly soy, the beef was tender and tasty, but the noodles were not right. They were stuck together for one, meaning several noodles were stacked on top of each other, a clear sign they were not handled properly. Overall, just not what I expect from this dish. The curry had tender chicken and a large amount of vegetables, which I appreciated, but the sauce was salty and fairly bland with only a little bit of curry flavor. Overall, a very mediocre version of what this dish could be. The green beans were the star of the show. Nicely wok fried with some sauteed onions in a light sauce. Tasty. The portions here are enormous, so there's a lot of value, but for me, the food is a-ok. If this is the spot most convenient for you, then go without hesitation because it is good, just not what I'd consider great. read more

I am very picky when it comes to food prepared outside my home. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff is courteous and prompt and overall, everything looks clean and in its place. This is my favorite place to go when I really want that calm dining in experience. Which is rare tbh I mostly get take out, but this place is perfect for dates, small celebrations, one on ones with friends, those kind of things. The workers are always put together well, not just dressed but they actually look clean which is what one would want from somebody serving them food. The food itself is a bit pricey but the portions make up for it so it balances out. My favorite are the potstickers for when you want the big pastry type. Don't really have any complaints besides the spicy dishes are not spicy at all, it's definitely catered to the delicate tongue of the majority that live in the area if you know what I mean. I lived in sparks almost my whole life! And this place opened up and I have never really not liked it. I really enjoy the spicy eggplant and pork. It could definitely have some more spice to it, but that's my fault for not suggesting that. I think they accommodate more to the American pallet. We got their vegetable chowmein, spicy pork with eggplant, Mongolian chicken and the hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup isn't the best I've had. It's ok. I think it might be too sweet maybe. Not enough substance? The chowmein was good, the noodles were cooked perfectly. If you've read some of my other reviews about chowmein then you'll understand I have an issue with how certain Chinese places cook their noodles. It was more on the salty side, when I was putting the leftovers into other containers the chowmein was sitting in the soy sauce they made it in. Which maybe made it more saltier. The Mongolian chicken was tasty. I love how they make it with onions that are still crunchy. The spicy pork and eggplant is just my favorite. Yeah it sits in its own sauce and you can see the oil floating on top of the sauce, but whatever. We all use oil don't we. It was in a to-go box so it's not like their going to make it look all pretty. All in all I will definitely come and eat here again. Next time I will sit down inside. read more

Really I would give them a 4.5. Went for the second time yesterday and ordered the Triple Delight. Just meats and veggies is what I was craving. I had it for 3 meals already. It was delicious. My rave will go to my first visit here about a month ago. General Chicken. I measure all Chinese restaurants by General Chicken. They did it!!!! They are only one of two places in town that do it right!!! It's not supposed to be breaded and deep fried!!! The flavor was amazing and it was made out of CHICKEN!!! We tried this place on a whim because it was close to our hotel and OH MY GOSH!!! I love beef chow fun and I have never, ever in my life had chow fun as fabulous as this! We live 3 hours away and we recently drove back up there just to have it again. It is more spendy than orjer chinese places we have been to but there is a ton and I do mean a ton of meat in the chow fun. This time we also got the Mongolian beef and were not disappointed. It has just as much meat as the chow fun, I only had one bite just to taste, I dont do spicy. Both times our server was the same Asian lady, such a great personality and a delight to talk too. Fortune Palace- This might be the "Best Chinese Restaurant" in Reno well in my opinion that is. From the time you drive up to this location, doesn't look like much but when you walk thru those doors an am welcomed by some of the nicest people in the area. I was greeted, and then taken to a table where I was offered a beverage and was asked "how are you doing today" in nice an pleasurable way I was then given a moment to look over the menu. The menu is clear, straight to the point in that I mean descriptive as in ingredients an what's available with the dish. After making my decision off their lunch menu, the waitress went straight down the list, Soup or Salad? Soup! Hot and Sour is very yummy I'd recommend it too everyone over their other, egg drop soup. I mean the egg drop is okay, but the H&S is on point. Then your given a few mins am then your given your soup or salad your choice. When your main dish comes out you can request some additional sauce if you feel the need to spice it up a little, they offer hot mustard, hot oil, and the hot paste. I'd always go for the Hot Mustard, it's not spicy hot or temp hot it's just stinging to your senses it cleared my sinuses. Your lunch Special comes with your choice of Steamed or Fried Rice, a main dish and a eggroll. For a price of $9.50 if you don't make any alterations to your lunch. The Staff, like I mentioned earlier the staff here is enjoyable to talk to an very understanding of what the customers may or may not want to order. They are very knowledgeable about the menu an most of all they offer 150% in customer satisfaction. An I am proud to say, that the staff is clean. Uniforms are always clean, well trimmed of the staff has beards or long hair. Hair is usually up an out of the way. Staff shows pride in the their work, an really appreciates the guest for coming. Most of all "Fortune Palace" they take a look at Chinese food in a whole new way, they are pleased at seeing an getting to know you not as a customer but as a guest in their home, if they are not assisting customers you will definitely not see them standing around the staff keeps tables cleaned an ready for the next available customer, or they are preparing tables with clean linens an clean silverware. All the food we ordered was not warm. 6 dishes all come out in less than 10 minutes after we ordered it. We also asked for chili/sauce. When we received the bill, we were charged for the chili/sauce. All the chinese /asian restaurants do not charge for this. At the very least they should have mentioned it when we asked. When we received the bill, we questioned what the miscellaneous charge was for, the lady told us it was for the chilies. As I was still talking to her she rolled her eyes and walked away. The BEST Chinese food we have found in the area. The fun drinks at the bar while you wait were a nice surprise. I had the Mai Tai and he had the Tequila Sunrise - I believe they were $5 on the HH menu. We had a few dishes - Mongolian Beef and Pork and Eggplant and House Fried Rice and ...
