Wanted to try a new spot and came here to try it out, they are in the corner of the same building as asato ice cream. There is a handful of parking stalls behind the building as well as a bunch of street parking right in front. They have a wide variety of drink types from milk tea boba, smoothies, to fruit teas. We came during covid and they don't let you into the store, they have a table set up right in the front of the door for you to order. We ordered the mochi soy cream with boba at 50% sweetness and a cloud strawberry and banana smoothie. The mochi is super soft and sticky and delicious when dipped inside the soy cream, it is also topped with kinako powder. They serve it with the top not fully attached and held with tape so you are able to get the mochi pieces before drinking, it was a little hard to put the cover on tightly after eating the mochi. The boba was nice, soft, and sweet. I really wanted the watermelon smoothie but they were out of watermelon The strawberry banana smoothie was thick, it kind of reminded me of Jamba juice but not as healthy tasting if that makes sense lol. I asked what the difference between cloud and yoyo, cloud is sweeter and yoyo is more sour. read more

I'm reluctant to write this review because Fortune Tea has my favorite milk tea! The black tea they use is delicious and has a floral quality that I love! I often get the cheese foam cap which adds creaminess and to me perfectly compliments the drink. It's my latest addiction and while they have many other drinks I keep ordering the milk tea. Service is quick and efficient. COVID safety measures are in place and you can only order drinks to go at a window. So impressed with this place! Firstly, it does seem hidden, and im so happy I stumbled upon it while waiting around for an appt. The inside is small but still spacious and clean, comfortable seating areas. The prices so refreshingly affordable! (These days I'm finding my boba smoothies to reach $9!) i ordered a avocado cloud smoothie and Thai milk tea, and was skeptical about how it would taste because of the price.. but wow. The drinks were sooo delicious. They add some sort of white cream that looks like clouds into the smoothie, it's so cute and tastes yummy. Haven't seen that anywhere else. The consistency is perfection as it's super smooth and tastes soft in a way lol. (Idk, some other places have ice chunks!). I think fortune tea is one of the best spots for boba drinks. The consistency of the boba is soft but still has a slight chew. They also offer purple rice as an add in which I like to add to my fruit smoothies to give it a healthier option. The cloudy and yogurt drinks taste super fresh, watermelon and mango are my favorite. Their signature drink is their mochi soy drink which is their milk tea topped with cheese foam, kinako powder, and a skewer with three chewy mochi balls. I've heard so many great things about Fortune Tea and although it didn't blow me away like I hoped it would, the price & value were definitely much better than other hyped boba shops! I got the Large Mochi Soy Cream Milk Tea with Purple Rice, 50% sweetness. Pros: Instagrammable drink (which is very important nowadays haha) The mochi is SUPER soft, and is super delicious when dipped in the soy cream THE PRICE. For $5.50 for a large drink, it's much more reasonable than other shops that charge that price for a medium drink (and reaching $7 for a large size) especially if you factor in the fact that the soy cream is already included in that price! Cons: The milk tea itself wasn't amazing. It was just a plain ole black milk tea, which wasn't bad but wasn't superb. 50% was still a little tooo sweet for me so I'll probably turn it down a notch to 25% next time. The Soy Cream was good the first time I dipped the mochi in it, but after that the wow factor disappeared. The taste is very VERY subtle, and you kind of forget it's there once you start drinking. It doesn't add much to the overall drink. I could probably do without it next time and not miss it at all. As with any new boba spot I venture to, I mention it's my first time and ask what's the most popular milk tea. Sweet ol lady showed me the menu and also offered some tea refresher recommendations. This time I chose the Brown sugar milk tea with brown sugar boba. Jasmine sounds interesting but I'm to chicken to try something new.. By golly my drink tasted just as delicious as Hana Tea! Confessions of a self proclaimed boba connoisseur: Someone else said this place was similar to Hana. I can say, for myself, I agree. The tea is similar to Hana's caliber. It tasted like strawberry jello, yet you could tell there were real strawberries there. Very yummy! My second visit I chose the cloudy mango. It also had real fruit as well! Super yummy x2! Both visits my daughter asked for the purple sticky rice. She's been completely obsessed since (Viet) gram makes if especially for her when we visit. This rice is definitely not the same, but she enjoys it just as much. It has a more earthy rice flavor. The unique thing about this tea shop has got to be the scratch fortune on the cup. I've gone back several times because my work is in downtown. So the location is convenient. You can park at Pali Longs or street parking right in front of their shop. There is ample parking in that little area AND where Longs is so no need to street park at all! My aunt recommended the brown sugar milk tea, but I wasn't craving something that sweet. I ended up getting the mochi soy cream cheese milk tea because 1. there's mochi and 2. it's soy based. How can I say no to that! I got a medium size with 50% sweet, and the drink itself looked so cute! Upon opening the lid, there's kinako sprinkled over the mochi and cheese foam. I tried one mochi, not knowing what to expect. It was chewy but bland. I guess I expected a tinge of sweetness when I bit one. The kinako definitely gave a nice flavor to it though! The cheese foam and milk tea itself was just right for me! Definitely not that sweet and enjoyable to drink. The boba had a bit of a sweetness to help balance the drink out! Probably won't ask for boba next time but this was definitely a drink to try. I got the drink I wanted. My friend got this Mango smoothie type milk. It was soooo good, just like a fresh mango milk lassi. I wouldn't say the Soy Milk Mochi Milk Tea was anything special. She gave really clear directions. The shop is on the corner of Kukui Street and Pali Highway. I parked underneath the building in the free (one hour) parking lot. The entrance is on Kukui Street. I was going to visit Fortune Tea on a Sunday and Donna warned me about the crowd from Asato Family Ice Cream Shop... hmmm... so I changed my plan and visited on a Saturday afternoon. It was perfect! Not too busy and great service! The interior is bright and clean! I ordered The Sunset drink which is like a mango tea. I could choose between black and green tea. I got the green tea. It was almost like a slushie with crushed ice in it. It was fruity and refreshing! I also had the Super Fruit Tea. It had bits of watermelon, pineapple, passionfruit, and slices of orange, lemon, and lime in it! Fresh and yummy! I sure will return to Fortune Tea because I like the name of the place and I like the Stamp card! The decor is really cute, too! There are games for customers to play and free WiFi! With all these new tea places popping up, I think I'm going to go broke! I always look at the menu first to see if there's anything interesting to try out before checking it out in person and their Mango Sago w/ Grapefruit definitely caught my eye. I don't really know any other place that has a sago drink (sago is basically tapioca) It's a childhood favorite for me so Fortune Tea shot up to the top of my list for places to try. It's literally located couple doors down from Asato Family so you can definitely park in the lot for Pali Longs and walk over. Cute, small shop with a couple of tables to relax and play some games. I ordered what I came for and a couple more drinks for my coworkers: Passion Lychee & Strawberry Cheese (both good) Drinks came out fairly quick and they gave a bag for each drink so I had an easier time carrying them. For my drink, they advised me to shake it beforehand to mix the mango slush and sago. I took that first sip and WOW it was so refreshing. I really thought it was delicious and it already made me want to buy another one. There are pieces of grapefruit so you'll get some bitterness in there but if you really want to try this drink w/o the grapefruit, try asking if it can be made without it! I remember seeing this new tea place on Yelp recently but was not able to visit earlier. I just remembered today and headed out there during my lunch break. I wasn't sure if they had parking so I parked on the street near by at $0.25/5 minutes! Fortune tea is right on the corner of Kukui St and Pali Hwy near Longs and Safeway but in a different building and with People's cafe and Asato Family shop! By the way they do have underground parking as you enter the driveway to Longs Drugs from Kukui Street. There are many Taiwan tea places but it was the first time I saw a Mango Sago w/ grapefruit. It was delicious and not too sweet. The sago ( something like tapioca ) and frozen grapefruit pulp, made the drink delicious! If you don't drink it right away, the grapefruit pulp will defrost and may get a little sour. I always liked grapefruit so I didn't mind although I suggest you drink it while it's frozen and cold. This drink is a smoothie. The workers had a hard time explaining what sago was but looked like tapioca. What I heard for some people who may be taking cholesterol medicine like some statin medicines and other medicines may not be able to consume grapefruit and it's juice since it may have an affect on them. Best to check with your doctor. It's a very cute little shop but hopefully they are able to pick up more business. They are open everyday! Glad I was able to go today since it was during their grand opening 1/6-8/20 promo. For the first 50 customer, If purchase of a drink, you get a free pastry! I was happy that even on last day, they haven't reached 50 yet. When they run out of desserts then they have reached their 50 customers! I thought the passion fruit cheesecake or the other passion fruit desserts were not a part of it the free desserts but they were! The desserts looked so good. The lady at the Fortune tea said the strawberry shortcake on the bottom shelf was included also but I couldn't see it at first because there was a pretty large size mini cake and I didn't think she was referring to that! The dining area is blocked, leaving just enough space for people to order drinks and a couple of seats available for us to sit while we wait for our drink. If you're into tea flavors this is your boba. I got mine with 50% sweetness and It was just right. My friends that came along with me also got the infamous Mochi Soy Milk tea. This particular drink usually comes with mochi balls on the very surface of the drink. But, if you're on the go - you're able to request for a lid and they also provide the mochi balls wrapped up. SO don't worry - you're able to take those boba photos at the comfort of your own home. What I genuinely love about this place is the fortune that is found just below the logo on their cups. I heard about this place via Asato Family ice cream shop's Instagram. The two shops, located a few doors down from each other, had a collab featuring white rabbit milk tea/ice cream that I absolutely had to try! I got the white rabbit milk tea with brown sugar boba, which was perfect for my hour long wait in line for ice cream. I was pleasantly surprised by the slightly thick richness of the milk tea. The brown sugar boba was on point, with a deep flavor that permeates inside the pearls. Hopefully they decide to keep the white rabbit on their menu, because it was amazing! Who goes on vacation to Hawaii and gets way more excited about boba than the beach? *Slowly raises hand* It was mid-afternoon, i.e. boba-o'clock and we found Fortune Tea via Yelp with raving reviews. The menu features a number of specialty drinks, and it's quite hard to decide on what to get. I felt bad for the staff having to stare at me ponder which drink would taste and look the best. I kept eying an enticing-looking picture on the menu and caved to the incredibly photogenic MOCHI SOY CREAM CHEESE MILK TEA. It was worth the splurge though--the mochi were soft and chewy, made even more delicious with the soybean powder. The dessert topping and whipped cheese foam contrasted nicely with the stronger black milk tea. They were able to make my drink with no sugar and no ice as I had requested, and it tasted perfect--very satisfying but not too sweet and indulgent. Hubs got the MANGO SAGO. I only took a small sip and I hardly remember what it tasted like because I was too preoccupied with my mochi. He did say he was quite impressed with how fresh the mango was. The only downside is that it's order-only at the counter and there is no indoor seating due to COVID restrictions, but it would have been a nice and sunny place to sit down and enjoy (and photograph) the drinks. Been to Fortune Tea once or twice before. We decided to get Fortune Tea after picking up our Pre-order sherbet from Asato's since we're not in town often. This time we got the Cloudy Mango, which comes with splotches of whipped cream within the mango smoothie whereas the mango yoyo comes with yogurt. I usually don't get mango, but I'm in a mango phase right now so I liked this drink A LOT! Definitely very mangoey (lol). And I like how there's a fortune or coupon you can scratch off on the cup. Great value. Drinks are delicious and sizes are as advertised, unlike other places where there is barely any liquid. Watch out for weird characters around the area, but worth it. read more

Fortune Tea part 2 Since there are a lot of drinks here I want to try, I went for the Mango Sago with Grapefruit Smoothie at the suggestion of a colleague, and I'm glad she told me to try this! If you've had mango sago dessert, this is exactly that, but with the occasional tang of grapefruit, in drink form. It's not too creamy or too sweet; it's a nice refreshing fruit smoothie that doesn't go watery right away. Personally I like it with just the sago and without extra boba, but that's me! read more

I will minus one star for this recent visit. Their mango sago used to be good, very rich in texture and has more grapefruits in it. But the one I got today, not much grapefruit, there is tiny ice cubes not blend through, sago probably pre frozen because few sago was very icy. I probably won't be back. But 25% sweetness is perfect for me. read more

Being born and raised in the Bay Area, I've been drinking milk tea almost my whole life so I'm pretty picky with my drinks. Fortune Tea was definitely the best milk tea I've tried on Oahu! The first time we went I got their Lychee refresher and my boyfriend got their Jasmine Milk Tea. Their lychee refresher was a carbonated drink with lychee syrup and jelly. It was super refreshing on a hot day! Their jasmine milk tea was definitely the star of the show though. It tasted like the drinks I get back home! It was so good that we had to return here a second time. The boba was soft and chewy and the tea flavor was really strong. Highly recommend Fortune Tea if you're in the area and craving milk tea! They had an abundance of street parking outside but there's also a Safeway right next door so you could just park there and walk over if anything. read more

The female who assisted us was just okay. She took our order. No welcome and no thank you and most importantly, no smile. Other than that, parking is street parking or I guess some people may park at Longs on Pali and walk over. My friend and I both ordered the cloudy yo-yo strawberry banana smoothie. I ordered it with boba and 25 Percent sweet. My friend ordered it with crystal boba and 50 percent sweet. We both agreed that we loved our drinks. Next time, I'll order my smoothie with the crystal boba. It's something different, and I think you'll like it. read more

On our now weekly bubble tea expedition, we decided to try Fortune Tea. I was drawn in by the prospect of mochi on top of my bubble tea, I had to check this place out. Overall, their prices are pretty good compared to other similar shops. They also have some more innovative options, like the Mochi Soy Cream Cheese Milk Tea, which I obviously had to order. The Mochi Soy Cream Cheese Milk Tea was delicious and I would recommend it. What makes it so great is the little skewer of fresh mochi on top. It is not the best mochi ever but it is really good. Plus, sitting on the cheese foam, it get slightly salty which complements the sweetness quite well. The tea itself was average. I like to be able to taste the flavor of the tea in my drinks and this one was just a little more generic than most. The boba were not my favorite either, though they were still good. All that being said, it would not stop me from coming back. I recommend Fortune Tea, mostly for the Mochi Soy Cream Cheese Milk Tea since it's so unique and fun! COVID Update Due to COVID, they aren't allowing you to sit down, it's takeout only. They moved their counter to the door and had plexiglass at the counter. It seems like they take COVID seriously, something I'm glad to hear. They also modify their hours, As of this writing, they are open from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM every day. I like fortune tea, I would say it's one of my top milk tea places. One reason I like fortune tea is that they have drinks that you can't find anyplace out. For example their Mochi Soy Cream Cheese Milk Tea, they have limited time drinks too. More importantly, their fundamentals are good; Their tea is strong (some tea shops tea aren't as strong and you might wonder where the TEA in Milk TEA) and their boba is nice and chewy (some tea shops have boba that has a jello texture). Parking is pretty good, there is meter parking right in front of the Fortune tea and there is a parking lot in the back too but I don't know if that parking lot is for fortune tea. Also, there is a Safeway/Longs parking lot 100 feet away, I don't think are suppose to park there. I usually just park at the metered parking because I'm in and out pretty quickly. read more

Finding this place was my best fortune this fall. Proof: I ordered boba here for four days straight recently. I was hooked in by @yummygrindz's post of the mochi soy cream milk tea on Instagram and knew I needed to try. And once I got my hands on it, I knew I had delved into something special. The boba balls were perfectly slimy with only a slight chew, the milk tea was sweetened to perfection, the cheese foam was light and airy with a hint of salty-sweet, and the mochi balls on a skewer? Simply perfect with kinako on top. I had that drink for 2 out of the four days. I had the cloudy avocado on the third day- the avocado smoothie was alright. The thing that makes it cloudy is the whipped cream on the walls. Lastly, I got the mango sago with grapefruit on the fourth day. Creamy real mango flavor with a slight bitterness of grapefruit made for a pleasing combination. Service was super friendly and informative each time, and the fortune on the side of the cup brings extra cheer. High quality packaging as well, but not overpriced at all.
