Arrived for dinner reservation last night. Greeted by hostess who was wearing a very small clear plastic face mask hanging just below her nose. Felt very uncomfortable as we are over 75 and very vulnerable to Covid. Sat at our table in the patio and our waiter wearing an approved type mask said his trainee would be serving us. This waiter had the same type of CDC unapproved small clear plastic mask as the hostess. I told the main waiter I felt very unsafe and asked if we could be served by a waiter with a full approved type mask which he complied. I am still in shock that this establishment could put guests at this kind of risk. Food was very good although expensive. Service was very poor. read more

They do have good food.. but the service is lacking. For some reason we always get this crabby female waitress with an attitude. The food is great.. below average portions but tasty.. something wrong with the staff there though.. guy behind the bar just ignores you. And the waitress we had at our table was just rude.. we have had her before and it's always the same.. beautiful place, good food but horrible service.. the other thing that is odd is they have two different wine pours. I have been to this restaurant 4 times total I enjoy the food however this particular time stood out. We went for a night cap and a light bite so we decided to share a meal a French dip it was good. Then we got the bill ... I ordered a long island drink and I always get Chambord instead of coke when I order this drink most places never charge for that and if they do they notify the customer this did not happen. I ordered 2 and to my surprise my two drinks came out to 30 dollars ... Not okay . . This is why I usually go to stuft pizza because they charge 8.50 for the same drink. The French dip was pricey don't get me wrong but I was okay with that since we were just there for a quick bite and a quick drink but I will think twice before I go there again and I'll be sure to continue being a regular at stuft. read more

Fortun has previously been one of our go-to places for a good meal. Their patio and bar area ambience are great. However, the last two times we have been here, the food has been very disappointing. The ChopChop salad wihich has always been our favorite now has very little ingredients other than lettuce and a few beans and a couple of pieces of salami and pepperoni. It is nothing like the chock full of goodies the previous salads have had. And the dressing is now very mild and almost tasteless. Recently I had a cup of clam chowder which had only two little shreds of clam and one small lump of potato and the rest cream and water. Very disappointing. I guess that is the reason why the place was 3/4 empty during high season. Something has changed for the worse. Maybe people don't like the 4% service charge automatically added to the bill. No other restaurant in the area does that. Shame on Fortun's. Their parent company needs to take notice and make some changes. read more

The perfect spot! I was blown away with the attention to detail. The cuisine is artfully crafted and everything was not only cooked just right, but was beautiful as well. The decor and atmosphere were both tasteful and inviting and the staff was attentive and welcoming. I just wanted to keep eating all night long! We are here on vacation and looking for great local restaurants on Yelp. While this had good recommendations, my family and I were disappointed. While not super busy, the service was very slow. We only got a couple of pizzas and salads and we had to wait almost an hour for our food. People who came in a few minutes after us where served before us, which is a pet-peeve of mine. I tried and was very hopeful tonight. There were many positives, but after coming home and recapping on the evening I don't think the positives were enough to out weigh the negatives, in my opinion. There is definitely a modern twist on things and different from the food to the drinks. However, the main negative for me is you can tell the Chef has a palate for SPICY and it ruined so many entrees. First I was excited for the New England Clam Chowder, everything was put together correctly, however the pepper was so over powering it was not enjoyable. When you look through the menu there is lots of spicy additions, which is okay if it is used properly and doesn't over power the whole dish. Wedge salad, good, loved the cornbread croutons. Also got the swordfish, heavy but very tasty and would get again. Could not resist the deep dish pizza to go (sense it is not something you find often), however once again the spicy sausage was the only thing you could taste besides the over powered basil. I would also have to say for a true deep dish pizza the very thin layer of flaky pie crust was not enough. Waitress was just okay... I don't like to be a picky person and usually am not. I like to sit down to a good meal and order it just as it comes. Unfortunately, if I went back some day I would just have to substitute things in each meal and it may come out great. i had a very bad experience here last night. there was a wine tasting that was very poorly organized from the moment you walked in the door and just a mess. long waits in line for small pours and a very limited selection. long lines for the food which was out twice by the time I got there. this was not a wine tasting party it was a wait in line party! We were there last week, four of us for dinner. All the dinners we good. Upsetting was their corkage fee of $25/ bottle. We had two. Also upsetting was the $2.50 charge for a couple of extra pieces of toast. I had steamed mussels and scallops in a wine sauce. My family and I called 5 minutes before deciding to leave our present location because of a long wait time to see if a table was available, we were told there was no wait and we could be seated. We walked over in 110 degree weather with three children only to be told they no longer had a table available. They were unapologetic and rude to myself and my family. A group of 7 of us had dinner here and we all were very pleased with our meals. The wait staff were very nice and accommodating. We all enjoyed our selections which included the petit filet, chopped salad, and salmon. Also had the brownie for dessert. I used to live in La Quinta and they opened right after I moved to the Bay Area. I've now been here 3 different times and have had an amazing experience every time I've been here. Food is PHENOMENAL and drinks are great! The bar has beautiful views of the mountains. I love that they have a drink cooler on their bar too,you definitely don't see that anywhere else. Chairs are also very comfortable to sit in. This past weekend I was in LQ visiting and my boyfriend and I stopped in there with my dad. My dad recommended we try the bruschetta pizza but deep dish. Normally it does not come deep dish but they have absolutely no problem accommodating our choice. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Something so different. You'd REALLLLLY have to look with a magnifying glass to find something wrong with this place. I can't wait to come back in a couple of weeks! Such a great addition to Old town LQ!! read more

When you first click on the "Fortun's Kitchen + Bar" Yelp page, you notice that "pizza" is the first word associated with the establishment. Yes......pizza......you don't need to go any further I kid you not.... no jokes here. Based on the vibe, menu, and first look of the joint.... one would think you are going for steak or seafood...well let'st just say the pizza here is out of control scrumptious and quite frankly off the chain delectable. Most of the food is worth your time; however the margherita pizza is hands down the best thing on the menu.... and king of pizza in the Coachella Valley. Someone (or everyone) needs to order that as their main event (or as an appetizer at least). The sauce, crispy thin crust, cherry tomatoes sliced with precision, and flawless application of cheese layering.... is everything you want in a bite. Other pizzas are fantastic too; however the margherita is in a league of its own. All other places are left ruined in its wake. We were in La Quinta for the weekend and wanted to try one of the restaurants in Old Town. We settled on Fortun's even though there were mixed reviews. Let me start with the positives: the ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic, the drinks are strong and the staff is attentive. We ordered the burnt ends as a starter and it was a very good. For our main dishes we ordered the cauliflower quattro fomaggio pizza, the deep dish chicago style pizza and the seafood pasta dish. The cauliflower pizza was burnt around the edges and very soggy in the middle. The Chicago pizza was on point with a spicy flavor and the bottom of the crust held-up, however and again, the edges were burnt. Lastly, the pasta seafood dish was ok but nothing special. We did order the mousse cake as a shareable dessert and it was delicious! Overall, Fortun's delivers on ambiance and attentiveness of staff but needs to up their game on some of the dishes. read more

I really hate to leave a one star review, but they deserve it tonight. When we arrived there were about six empty tables so we got seated right away. Once we were seated it took about 15 minutes to get our drinks ordered. Another 15 minutes our drinks arrived. We then proceeded to order our dinner. We saw the burger sit under the heat lamps for about 15 minutes the ribs were as dry as the desert we live in and I sent them back. On top of it they forgot our appetizers! I really hope management reads this review and takes it to consideration. They really have the right elements to make this an awesome place to hang out in old town la Quinta. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Never before have me and my family walked out of a restaurant, but this place has such awful service. We made a reservation for 7:30, and arrived a few minutes late, but we were seated immediately. However, it took a good 10 minutes before we were even asked for our drink order. Our order is finally put in, but it takes another 10 for it to come, and my mom is presented with a dirty champagne glass. Another 10 minutes for them to give her a clean, chilled glass, and we still haven't had our dinner order taken. The waitress continues to address the tables around us, and we keep getting bypassed, so by 8:45, OVER AN HOUR after our original reservation time, and after waiving down several passing waiters or hostess, we just decided it was better to cut our losses. I work in the customer service industry, and recognize that sometimes people have off days, but still, an hour and a quarter is too long to wait to be served. I brought my wife and daughter for a nice dinner to Fortun's,I had been there before and really enjoyed the food. ​Unfortunately this time I was seated inside and in close proximity to where the chef and who I can only assume was the manager, Dina enjoyed their dinner with wine. Not long after , they brought back a gentleman that from what I heard had already clocked out for the night, but Dina demanded another employee have him come to their table. They them proceeded to scold the employee, and we had to sit through the majority of of dinner listening to Dina publicly reprimand the the employee. Such uncomfortable situation, wasn't sure if to ask to get moved, or personally walk up and let them know how uncomfortable we were, needless to say, we will not be returning to this restaurant. I do not believe they provide a good work environment and feel uncomfortable supporting a place like that. The staff was very nice and attentive, but will say after asking to the locals discount some time passed and out waitress could not locate Dina to approve the discount. We proceeded to pay it wasn't that big of deal to us, but had heard from other that they offered said discount. read more

If you like long waits and mediocre service this is the place to be. While our food was excellent (minus our host getting her filet well cooked when she asked for a medium rare and a promise to let the manager and chef know right away and didn't go through) We had to wait a complete hour plus for the food to arrive to our table. Repeated requests were made for coffee creamer( no sugar at all! Nor was offered) and silverware (while food was actually sitting in front of us!) Our waiter kept walking by and finally said "they were tending to big parties inside". Next side table had a party of probably 10-12 people and they got service within half hour (they ordered,ate and walked out at the same time we did walked out!) After dinner since we waited and hour plus, we expected our host wronged cooked filet will be taken off our bill or at least a complementary dessert will offered but it was not and to our aghast we had endure another wait for our check but decided to go to the front and request to see manager. While standing there for another long wait, another party joined us waiting to see manager as well and find out they actually never got their dinner but were billed! We never saw manager. read more

New spot in town, they spent a fortune (bad joke, yeah I know) on the renovation. We dined there shortly after the soft opening in a group of 8 in the center under the retractable roof. Unfortunately it was raining both outside and inside! Water was actually sheeting down the interior walls, dripping on the floor. What a mess. The food was pretty good but all I can remember was all the water. All of us were laughing as it was quite obserd. I'll go back for another go round but will bring an umbrella, just in case. I was in town for a week of relaxation and the tennis tournament. My party and I came to enjoy early dinner and cocktails. We were seated and immdietely greeted by our welcoming server Ashley. She was extremely attetentive and very genuine. Two in our party had dietary restrictions and she was able to to help them choose their entrees. Went to fortunes again last night, 2/16. My husband and I love the atmosphere but the food is always disappointing. Last night they hit a new low. We try to give them grace because they're getting back on their feet from Covid but my fried chicken was over done and ridiculously salty and my husbands $28 "Chicago pizza" was burnt on the bottom and dry. Three of us got our food while the fourth person sat there and watched us eat. By the time his order of fried chicken came it was even more burnt than mine. This restaurant is really expensive for the quality of the food. I don't get all the positive reviews. I've never had a great meal there and I'm not that fussy. We will not be going back read more

I was really excited to try this new spot. I live in the cove and have been waiting to go and try this new trendy bar. Totally disappointed. First, the bar was filthy with dirty glasses everywhere. The barmaid asked if we were going to eat, after we said we were there for drinks we never saw her again. There were 4 bartenders standing and chatting at the end of the bar with one another. .we waited and waited. After 10 minutes we decided to spend our dollars at another established across the street. Nice surprise! The food and staff were excellent! The only downside was that the blonde hostess was pretty unfriendly and there was never a smile or a "welcome" or anything warm about her. She set our menus on the table, after we sat down, then came and put our placemats on top of the menus and walked away without a word. However, our waitress, Savannah, was very friendly, courteous, and professional. All of the waitstaff was right on top of everything and very friendly! So I find it funny that people complain about slow service, poor service, blah blah but nothing about the food! If you want fast food GO to In-n-Out . If you're from out of town , slow down and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Old Town and Fortun's ( and btw misters do drip, hmm) . In all of my visits to Fortun's I have never experienced a rude server, hostess, bartender, Mgr etc. !! Yeah sure good food takes time to prepare, thats why its called Fortun's KITCHEN and bar.
