Easy to make a reservation. Friendly staff. Decent food with fair pricing. Happy Hour at the bar was doing good business. As the evening progressed, more restaurant customers came in. Tables that were spaced apart were appreciated. We all had variations of the fish'n chip Friday special. I started with French onion soup, although others in our party said the clam chowder was super good. Then I had the grilled fish (cod), but you could also get it breaded. I chose a side salad instead of fries. The salad was fresh and had lots of ingredients in it. It also came with a small side of coleslaw. read more

I went for the fish fry Friday deal. This place caters to people of a certain vintage, but it does seem like they have an engaged chef. The clam chowder was obviously freshly made but lacked that hearty clam flavor you expect. The cheese curds were good but when aren't they. My wife ordered their special smash burger and she loves it. However she was served her meal with the appetizer. She was hungry so I figured go ahead and eat my food will be here shortly. Then she finished her meal before the server bothered checking on us. I was then finally given my food, which was great fried fish. But our drinks were never filled, the empty plates were never bussed and we had to wave down someone to pay the bill. I may go back for the fish fry and hopefully the service improves. read more

I had previously left a good review, but I'm retracting my review as I ordered a full-size salad and I literally got this embarrassingly teeny tiny salad. I'll post a picture with the fork for reference, but what the ???? I come here for my daughter's swim meets and usually look forward to ordering food but seriously it should not be any different if I'm ordering for the swim meet, I paid the full price on the menu..... I had a full day of golf, and the Forty Niner Country Club was my second round for the day. I was hungry and wanted to eat before I arrived. However, I could not find a place I wanted to eat at. Since there was a restaurant at the golf course. I decided to have a go. I ordered the short ribs sandwich and waffle fries. The sandwich was amazing. Loaded with mushrooms, onions, and peppers. I was definitely happy that I did wait to eat until I got here. It was a great experience overall and the price was reasonable. read more

We got there late, but they still served us, and the food was piping hot and delicious. I was craving chicken, and their hand-breaded chicken strips were amazing. Crispy (not greasy), perfectly seasoned, and I couldn't stop eating them (my eyes were bigger than my stomach, but it didn't stop me - HA). The servers were very accommodating and attentive. My daughter had the steak (she is picky), and she was very pleased with her meal. It was nice to finally get over to the restaurant after all these years. I have never been here before. We went to celebrate a friends birthday. The place is HUGE and has all kinds of neat events there. It is an older building, and it shows. The wait staff was super friendly and was joking with all of us. The atmosphere was light hearted. Service was pretty great. The food was a wide variety. Everyone of us were happy with our meal. The restaurant is open to the public and since they were doing a fundraiser for the daughters school tonight, we decided to try it. The daughter had an activity till 6:30 though, so we did take out. The hostess station wasn't manned so we made our way to the bar, where we saw a to go sign hanging. We were quickly greeted by a server who asked if we needed help. I gave her my name and then she walked away and began helping other people. Luckily a few minutes later another server asked if we needed help and then actually helped us. He found our order, brought it out and opened the boxes to make sure correct and rang us up. We ordered the ahi poke flatbread and a custom pizza with olives and bacon. I had been a little skeptical of the ahi cause kale salad but I love ahi and spicy so I figured I would try. So glad I did! The kale is grilled and delicious and the ahi is generous. Spice is perfect and the crunch of the flatbread is a nice texture change. Messy to eat but worth it. The pizza was great. Perfect amount of sauce, good distribution of toppings. Huge size. The Rincon Mountain Grill at Forty-Niners Country Club is part of the weekly rotation for our group of mahjong ladies. We enjoy a nice lunch and then stay the afternoon to play mahjong. The service is wonderful. Our regular server, Heather, reserves both a dining table and a playing table for us. She remembers our favs and our idiosyncrasies like who wants lime and who wants lemon in their water. The menu is expansive and sometimes the food is excellent but sometimes not quite. The biggest problems are a lack of seasoning on some dishes and food is sometimes brought to the table not hot enough. We've had to have soups and fries and wings sent back to the kitchen for heating.The fried chicken sandwich was a disappointment. For twice the price of Popeye's, the sandwich is half as good. The quesadilla and nachos are bland and forgettable. The wings, however, are perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. They come in several spicy or piquant flavors. I usually order the Korean bbq wings; great flavor with a nice kick, but not too hot. The salads are very good with lots of options. The classic Cobb is filled with tasty and traditional toppings and the grilled peach is an exciting new offering with fruit and nuts . The salads are huge, and are available in half sizes for daintier appetites. Burgers are a half pound of succulent meatiness and worth every calorie. And the pizza is better than many pizzerias. Dozens of options for toppings on a thin crispy crust with oodles of melty cheese. The drive is beautiful and the scenery around the restaurant and bar is pretty with the green golf course, lakes, and trees. The pool area is visible from the restaurant as well. The Grill serves breakfast on weekends and offers dinner and specials. read more

We were really looking forward to trying this place out, as we just moved out here from the Midwest. We learned that they had recently changed their menu- and let me tell you, I've never been more disappointed in my life! First off, there are only 6 entrees to choose from. SIX! All of them are strange pairings with other odd food- steak with black bean puree? Come on. We ended up having the Salmon dish, and it was a solid 2 out of 10. Not sure what's going on with this place, but the chef in charge must be a culinary school drop out with a chip on his shoulder. We won't be coming back. Surprisingly, this part of Tucson has nothing. No decent restaurants, not many fast food joints... Just nothing. Why that might be, I don't know, but I was trapped in these parts due to a wedding and couldn't venture out to Tucson proper, so I tried my best to find something that is decent. This restaurant is attached to a country club. Country club restaurants are usually hit or miss - the selection is wide but they can be overtly bland, since they have to appeal to a certain demographic. It feels similar here, with a pretty decent sized menu with items drawing from a few different cuisines. I got a Sonoran hot dog, because it is a bacon hot dog with refried beans, cheese and salsa - looked so tempting on paper! In reality, each ingredient is very average, but together it still managed to be a pretty decent meal. The sweet potatoes fries that came with it was decent as well. Service was really sparse. The whole place felt really sleepy. I'm not sure why that would be, but I don't really know what peak season is in Tucson since the temperature change is rather significant. If you find yourself in the Tanque Verde parts of Tucson and in need of a meal, this is a decent stop. read more

This is a great place to meet friends for a drink and some food. They have removed a few items from menu but still have a nice selection. You have a choice of inside or outside. Bacon on the shrimp was burnt to a crisp. Sonoran dog was lack luster. They failed to include ranch dressing and the bread bites or knots or whatever in my to go order. I thought the pizza was pretty good. It was somewhat crowded, so people seem to like it there. The place was busy and the service was slow. They were possibly understaffed. After eating the meal I wanted more sides but they said that was extra. Only the fish was all you can eat. So your telling me fries and cole slaw cost more than fish? Am I living in the bizzaro world? How does that make sense. The fish was not good. I would not recommend. We went because we had a gift certificate, but we will never return. The only reason they get 2 stars was for the spaghetti kids meals. They were ample and much better than the adult meals. Food took an hour to arrive and several dishes had mix-ups from the kitchen. Noticed several kitchen staff coming out to chat with a table over the course of the one hour wait. That table had arrived 15 minutes after us but got their food earlier. Dishes came at different times. Food was below average. Had lunch at the restaurant on March 8, 2020 after an 18 hole round. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries which was delicious. The only drawback was the service, waitress was pleasant, however it took a long time to get served. I was able to overhear other tables near us complain about the lack of service as well. We have been eating here multiple times a week for years now and always have a good experience! The food is good, the service is always friendly, and there is a casual enough atmosphere that our kids can run around and have fun. Went for the fish fry last week. Have enjoyed it in the past but this time was seriously lacking. Our female server seemed confused even though it was not very busy. Difficulty getting drinks. Our shrimp cocktail was served after the fish. The bill was wrong. Overall disappointing night. Tried again last night. The salads came after the entrees. The "seared " Ahi was well done. Confused waiter even with a small crowd of diners. I give up on this restaurant even though it is close. read more

Reserved a table on the patio as I had been tempted by the emails we received regarding Saturday prime rib night. We were seated at 640pm and were told they had already run out of prime rib, at 630! Under different management we had a similar result with Friday night fish fry. We spoke to the manager and he said that they were working hard to get better. Honestly we have lived in 49ers since 1996 and try to be loyal to the restaurant, but they continue to disappoint. About the only thing you can count on for quality and consistency is the take out pizza. Apart from pizza and the salad, any other take out will be warm at best. I think the management needs to think about what they want to be. They will most likely continue to be successful if they just become a sports bar and grill. At least then customers will know what to expect, burgers, wings and pizza, and they won't be disappointed. Since they were out of prime rib I finally settled on a modification to their NY strip steak which is advertised with enchilada sauce, jalapeños, and pepper jack cheese. I just requested a plain steak served medium rare with a little seasoning. What I got was an unseasoned steak. When I asked for some steak sauce, the server went somewhere to retrieve a bottle of A1 but by the time she brought the bottle, my steak was on the cold side. There needs to be some serious work done here as there is some worthy competition down the road with the Barnyard now in operation. We will continue to be loyal customers at least to the point of purchasing the membership required food purchase, but it will most likely be take out pizza. As I said earlier this establishment needs to decide what it wants to be, and maybe a full service restaurant is not it; i.e., think sports bar. Or perhaps the owners need to think about leasing the restaurant out to someone who is solely focused on running a restaurant and not a golf course as well. Sadly, I can only hope that this review wakes someone up. read more

Oy, I'm so conflicted about how to review my local restaurant! I love Rincon Grill because it's close to my house, and it's locally owned, and there have been occasions where I've had a great experience. But then there are the few times where it's been a really rough experience! Like several months ago, where I popped in on my way home from work (too tired to cook for me and my 2 year old while my hubby was at work). We waited for 15 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us--it's not a large restaurant, and there were not many people seated (and definitely were servers walking around). I was so frustrated and disappointed, and frankly angry because by the time we walked out without a single offer of help my kid was creating a scene because he was starving! It took about 3 months before I would venture back. This time it was a weekend, and during a slow period. My server was good, food was good, a generally good experience. Why can't it always be like this?? There was one instance where we picked up sandwiches to go. Even though we called ahead, he still had to wait 15+ minutes for them to be prepared. By the time my husband got home and looked inside, they were the wrong sandwiches and the fries were cold and soggy. We called back, and the offered to remake them--now the correct sandwiches, but still awful fries and the sandwiches were not much of an improvement. A few weeks ago we ordered a pizza, and it was great! Delicious. Service was a little disorganized and slow, but at least the server was friendly and apologetic for the long wait. I really want the Rincon Grill to be successful, and so all my stories are shared with the hope that, while great improvements have already been made under the new management, the improvements continue. They really need a good manager there, to help train the staff on customer service, organization, timing of orders, etc. The food also needs to be consistently good, even on the days when the head chef isn't working. It's come along a good ways, but there's still a ways to go. But I will continue to visit, and update my reviews--hopefully with good feedback! read more

The service is so slow during breakfast-lunch hours it takes anywhere of 10-20 minutes to even get menus or drinks. The orders are always messed up and the service is absolutely terrible. read more

We just had the most incredible lunch! Our server was Jeremy - he made us margaritas with no mix - real lime juice!!!! And they were the best Margaritas we have had in Tucson yet! Went there in November as a family expecting mediocre service and OK food as we were told this is what to expect. We were fine with those low expectations, though when we walked out of there with an almost $200 bill, we were very disappointed. When they brought the nachos, we noticed that they forgot to put cheese in it and took 20 minutes to bring it to the servers attention. Then the rest of the food came, eventually and was ice cold. We again looked for the server but she was nowhere to be found. Normally I would let this sit but the more and more I thought about it, it really bothered me so I called the manager. Had a great conversation with her, and she promised to look into it and get back to me. A month and a half later, I still haven't heard from anyone. I'm writing this review only so anybody that ventures into this restaurant knows what to expect. read more

Unfortunately the first thing I noticed when I walked in was the extremely musty smell of old carpet. This would usually turn me right around but we were meeting another couple so we stayed. We were waited on right away, the service was very good all through the meal. The food was also very good. The place has an identity crisis. Are you a sports bar, several large tvs and loud bar tenders? Food and prices are really not sports bar like. If they want to be a destination restaurant the space needs a make over, and soon. Ate here last night because it was close to our rental, for a light dinner. My friend ordered a burger and cole slaw and I had a cup of brisket-vegetable soup and a shrimp cocktail. My soup came out almost immediately, but nearly cold. Then, we waited an hour for a burger and shrimp cocktail. When we inquired, we were told that it was computer related, that some orders were being communicated to the kitchen while others were not. To me, a seemingly simple problem easily remedied. If your customers food doesn't come out, check with the kitchen and remedy the situation. All in All, the food was mediocre and the service horrendously uninspirational. read more
