Have past this spot many a times on my way from Bako to LA to Rancho Cucamonga. Decided I wanted something different from the usual and I remembered them having good burgers from a different fosters in Coachella. Ordered the Old Fashion burger with Fries and soda. Burger was cooked to order as was the Fries (be careful they are hot). Burger had the usual fresh lettuce, tomato and onions with sauce (similar to Thousand island sauce). Burger was prepped just right with the right amount of sauce and the fresh tomato, lettuce and onion made this a very tasty burger. Fries nice hot with a sprinkle of seasoning. Stopped in for dinner tonight since our first choice was closed. We don't frequent this side of the SCV, this location is situated along a long street that obviously caters to the Trucking Community. The restaurant was very clean, parking was ample and well lit. You can tell this is a family run owned franchise, which made it even more charming. The gentleman and lady (I'm assuming are husband and wife) were very sweet and accommodating. A younger gentlemen worked in the back in which I'm assuming is their son. They were all very friendly and even asked if it was okay that our son had his ice cream before dinner. Bonus Mom Points! Food was great, more than what i expected for a restaurant outside of city limits. Reminded me of my teenage years when enjoying fried and greasy foods wasn't a social sin. Their twisters were so yummy. And service was fast despite the other patrons walking in and drive thru being busy. I'll definitely be back again when in the area, there's something about a family run franchise that makes spending money on take out worth it. I believe the owners are the ones running it, they are exceptionally kind and polite, they read you back your order once when you order it and again when they give you your food. My family was devastated when the fosters closed on Soledad. So now we make the drive from Saugus to Castaic for our fosters craving. The owners are so so nice. I have been to several Foster Freeze locations in the Bay Area so finding one in the middle of no where definitely appealed to us. My S/O ordered a mint oreo twister that took more than 10 minutes to make! We both found out that they were taking care of the drive thru people first! I even started to get impatient. This Fosters Freeze is located right off the 5 Freeway on the drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco. There are a few other food options here (like the McDonald's) but not many. This Fosters Freeze is not just a soft serve ice cream spot; they serve fast food as well with options like cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. The inside is pretty rundown. While it was not necessarily dirty, the seating area and the counter were both out-of-date and in desperate need of renovation. We had the cheeseburger and waffle fries. The cheeseburger was pretty standard fast food fare. The patty was your run-of-the-mill frozen patty (processed texture). They did use fresh vegetable toppings though. The tomato was fresh as was the crisp iceberg lettuce, which was properly washed with no visible browned edges. It wasn't a great burger, but it was serviceable. They provided a very generous portion of waffle fries and they were hot, crispy and pretty tasty. The waffle fries were nicely seasoned as well. We got some of their vanilla soft serve in a cake cone to go and it was good. Smooth and creamy with a good vanilla taste. Good temperature too. I've been to places where they serve soft serve a little melted, but that was not the case here. Fosters Freeze's soft serve is different than Dairy Queen. Fosters Freeze is not as soft or light. I find the vanilla taste in Fosters Freeze more prominent than Dairy Queen. I like both, but I think I like Fosters Freeze's soft serve more. Despite the less-than-inviting appearance, this Fosters Freeze is an adequate fast food place. Food was hot and reasonably priced with good portion sizes. Their soft serve was nice and good and lifts it above what you would get at most fast food spots. There were not many good food options on this stretch of the 5 Freeway so packing food in a cooler may be the best option. Even if you do pack food, this Fosters Freeze is worth a stop if you want to indulge in some ice cream. There is a large and free parking lot that supports this fast food restaurant. read more

In the quiet lull of pre-holiday relaxation, I swung the door open to 1982 and discovered that Christmas Eve on I-5 can be a bizarre and tasty pit stop. While many were sitting down to open a few early presents or putting together some last minute ones, I was half-way to Arizona and hungry! 6pm in Castaic and I could have sworn it was the middle of the night. The lights in the McDonalds next door were out, but Fosters was a welcome beacon of bright Americana. I was a bit of a skeptic at first. The sun-washed posters and plastic plants seemed all too perfect when the theme to As the World Turns started playing. I had to think to myself, "Is this real?" Now, unfortunately "pit stops" are never complete without what makes a pit stop, a pit stop. This one left me feeling like even more of a germaphobe than normal. All I can say is, that's what using paper towels and your shoe are for! Back to the food at hand...I ordered a chicken sandwich and expected to be given a pre-made, pre-nuked, and pre-fried package, but I was wrong. It didn't come sliding down a chute of colored paper wrapped burgers. It was made for me right then and there by a really nice couple that even brought it out to the table. This is the 'other' true 100% Fosters in the SCV. I always seem to forget about this location. But, I have to give this place 1 more star than it's distant cousin on Soledad. Here's why: This place is open about an hour later than the other Fosters. On weeknights, this is 10pm (10:30 for the drive through), which is great. We went here for my wife's late night chocolate soft serve craving. They have a very extensive menu here. They have all the usual Fosters classics such as the boss burger but also have other oddities like shrimp and chips and meatloaf. VERY skeptical about this place at first. From the outside it looks old and I thought it was closed. My hubby pulled up and I woke up from a nap and was like, OOOOKKKKKAAAYYYY. Walked in and saw the Korean couple, probably the owners. Now I know this may sound weird but it's true for me. From my experience, Korean people that own american drive in type food joints make AWESOME food. Right away I was put at ease because I just KNEW the food was going to be good. Had the Boss Burger and WOW, delicious. Mmmm... fries are crinkle cut and cripsy. They bring the food out to your table. Didn't get a chance to try any ice cream. Regular sized fries are pretty small too. Large it if you're feeling like fries. Inside it's pretty old. Furnishings are worn and a little stained dirty (the tables). The bathroom is a HUGE indicator for cleanliness right? Well it seemd as clean as it could possibly be. Built up pink liquid soap around the faucet but counters were wiped clean, wasn't stinky, and no towles on the floor. I've been coming here since I was 9 years old. Nothing has changed since then except they added a big flat screen tv. The same friendly owners are still there.
