    $1 cones on Wednesday
    Chiquita G.

I mainly come here for the ice cream. Every Wednesday they had dollar cones. It recently went up to 1.50 but still cheap. So it's my boys treat practically every other week.

Paid a lot, got a little. We were in the mood for a great burger and decided to try Fosters Freeze. The place was empty at 7:30 pm, but we passed over several tables trying to find a clean one. The servers were nice enough while taking our order, but nothing else really occurred in the way of customer service. The food was edible, but not really good. More bun than burger and TONS of special sauce. We won't dine here again, but drive through for an ice cream cone...that's a win!

I used to come here with my dad back when I was a kid ALL the time. I was craving ice cream in a cone, and the first place I thought of was Foster Freeze. It's literally near my house and I didn't want to take my chances of going to another restaurant that might say their ice cream machine is broken. We ordered a large vanilla cone, large swirl cone, and a large vanilla milkshake. Prices were not bad considering the amount of ice cream you get in each cone! They do 1$ deals on Wednesdays for small cones! The guy who helped us was super nice! He was cheerful and it made buying the ice cream worth it! He even compliment my panda pillows attached to my seats. Highly recommend!

Got a couple items today that mostly came out as expected, except for my Reese's Twister (pictures included). Fosters used to fill these things up to the brim, now apparently my $8 gets me a partially filled cup of ice cream. I said something to the cashier and was given some song and dance about new hires wasting ice cream and being required to keep the amount under the rim. Apparently, "under the rim" also means a big, fat hole drilled into my ice cream with nothing but air filling the space. If this is what I can expect from Fosters, I'll happily go to Sonic from now on when I'm craving a shake.

If hell had a restaurant, this would be the place. Their overpriced, below average food needs a kick in the right direction. The poor woman working the drive thru probably never hears the end of it because she's the first person the customer sees when they realize the food is shit and or the ding-dong of a cook in the kitchen fucked up their order because of his/hers 2nd grade reading level. Also, once they check that the cook is literate, go ahead a double back around and check his/hers f*%cking eye sight. I guess they can't tell the difference between spoiled lettuce and not spoiled lettuce.

    Banana split was ok.

This place is not good in my opinion. First the price was too much its around 8 or 9 bucks for a meal. Second it doesnt deliver the meat on the burgers isnt cooked right & it's just missing flavor. I got the old fashion & onion rings, they seemed they were microwaved because they were extremely hot inside. We went as a family night & we could of honestly went to in n out way cheaper & quality up there. They get one star the staff was friendly.

I've come here plenty of times and this is the first time my food has taken so long to come out. Waited almost 20 minutes for 2 burgers and fries, now if it was busy, I would understand the wait, but it wasn't even busy, the woman on the grill took forever, when I asked a worker, they said it was there supervisor on the grill. Not only was she slow at her job but she was rude when talking to her coworkers, just barking orders at them like they were beneath her. The only thing that saved the visit were the deserts that a wonderfully nice worker named Miracle made, she has made my deserts in the past and they have always come out wonderfully and that was one of the reasons I always returned to this location.

They have those mystery meat patties. I don't think a human should be eating them services as expected. The dining room was old but clean.

The burger was okay but definitely overcooked and not very juicy. It was missing some flavor. The garlic fries were probably the best thing we ordered. The hibiscus lemonade was decent, and the mocktail we got was actually really good. As for the service, some of the staff were really nice and welcoming, but I did feel a little uncomfortable toward the end. When I asked if I could pay with cash instead of card, I got the impression that the person seating us assumed I was going to leave a tip and seemed disappointed when I clarified that I was just paying cash. I also felt like some of the servers were giving us an attitude afterward because we didn't tip. Overall, tipping is a personal choice, and I don't think customers should feel judged or pressured because of it. Some of the staff were genuinely kind, but unfortunately the food and the experience weren't enough for me to want to come back.

Luckily, I heard tremendous things leading up to my visit, so I finally made an effort to try it for myself. Let me just start out by saying: This is as good as soul food gets. There's a reason Joe Rogan shouted this spot out on his podcast several years ago. My group was immediately greeted by Chef Paul himself upon our arrival. He sat us down and got our drinks going right away. Another lady then took our orders. They had a Lamb Shank special going, so I decided to snag their last one of the day. We did wait a little while for the food, but it was well worth it. You can tell they put a lot of effort into bringing out fresh and flavorful plates for their customers! The Lamb came out glazed in thick, flavorful sauce and topped with parsley and onion. It was phenomenal. I didn't realize one could make Lamb taste THAT good. It was super flavorful and moist, and I wish they could keep it as a staple on their menu. My sides were Braised Cabbage, Chili Beans, and Cornbread. They all tasted great, but the Chili Beans really stood out for me. I love how they had a little kick that really upped the flavor profile. My grandma got the Fried Chicken with Potato Salad, Collard Greens, and Cornbread while my brother went with another special of the day: Turkey Wings and Cornbread Stuffing with Gravy and Mac & Cheese on the side. There were ZERO complaints among us. Every single one of our orders were exceptional. Chef Paul was attentive to every table in the restaurant, and he was constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything. I can now see why this restaurant gets so much praise. Chef Paul does it right! Thank you for such a delightful meal.

In a word, delicious. The Mac N Cheese is baked & hot & tasty. My wife really liked the Collards & enjoyed her chicken thighs. Servers are very attentive. This place is really small & the ambiance is Dayton, OH funk (think Roger & Lakeside) which made this former Gem City resident happy. They only have a few tables so most of their business seems to be take out. Everything is cooled to order so there is a wait, but it is well worth it. I will be back to try the catfish. 5-stars

I ordered the **BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger**, and while the presentation wasn't the most impressive, it does come with an onion ring, which is a nice touch. It's not my favorite burger on the menu, but it's still very good. I'd give it an **8/10**. The **Monster Burger** is where it's at, though! This is easily a **9/10** and one of those burgers you really can't go wrong with. The portion size, quality, and price are all excellent, and I especially love that it comes with two different types of cheese. Definitely one of the best options here. We also ordered the **Southwestern Salad**, which was really good. I would recommend asking for extra dressing because it could definitely use a little more. Overall, I'd give the salad an **8/10**. The **fries are always a 10/10**. The side portion is huge and easily enough to share, which makes it an even better value. The drinks are good as well. The **service is always top-notch**. They treat you like family, and the food comes out quickly. I also like that the restaurant has both a traditional service side, where tipping is optional, and a self-service side where you find your own table and pick up your food, so tipping isn't necessary. The **ambiance is one of the best things about this place**. If you're a sports fan, you'll love it. There's tons of sports memorabilia throughout the restaurant and plenty of TVs showing different games. It's a great place to hang out, grab some food, and watch sports. Being right across the street from Fresno State is also a huge plus. The only real downside is the **parking**. They definitely need to find a way to increase the amount of parking because it can be difficult to find a spot. Overall, this is a great place with **good food, generous portions, reasonable prices, excellent service, and an unbeatable sports atmosphere**. Definitely worth checking out!

The one time we have clearly overcooked meat that tastes like horse the manager completely dismissed my 72-yo mother in a very rude way. I guess selling "1000s of sandwiches today with zero complaints" is good enough to completely dismiss us. What likely happened was they saved the overcooked meat till the end of the day (we went 20 minutes before closing) and we were the schmucks that got it. What really pissed me off though is that the manager had veins popping out of his neck. The way he was talking to my elderly mother was inappropriate. Thankfully he cooled down when I walked up to the conversation. All she wanted was to replace our 4 tritip sandwiches with another. Whoever the manager was needs some serious customer service training and needs to learn how to speak to people.

I ordered the peri peri fried chicken sandwich. I imagined that there was some spicy peri peri and then some sweet slaw to compensate and balance, but it arrived with so much peri peri sauce on it the bun was drenched and the sauce was too overpowering. I ended up throwing away half the bun. The chicken itself was great and cooked perfectly. I could see myself ordering this again but asking for only a small amount of the peri peri. I also ordered a different side than fries and was told there was an upcharge. I expected a couple bucks, but it was an extra $10 for the upgrade. Come on! Most places charge less than that for an additional side dish, let alone for a switch. So my husband and I both were charged an extra $10, me for my upgrade and he for his side salad. This made our bill ridiculous for our enjoyment of the food. I know prices have gone up everywhere, but there are plenty of other upscale places around where I can get better food for less.

QUICK TAKE Get: Blackened Salmon Tacos Skip: Ultimate Combo Louie, Shrimp Cocktail, Grilled Alaskan Halibut Know: Several of the seafood dishes tasted dry or tired, and the meal did not feel worth the price. The only thing I would recommend is the Blackened Salmon Tacos. They come with fire-roasted salsa, avocado, cabbage-cilantro slaw, pico de gallo and lime crema. These had much better flavor, texture, and balance than the rest of our meal. Unfortunately, the other seafood was where things really fell apart. Ultimate Combo Louie: This comes loaded with jumbo prawns, shrimp and Dungeness crab, so at $38 I expected it to feel like a premium seafood salad. It didn't. The seafood lacked freshness and the shrimp in particular were soft and soggy. Shrimp Cocktail: Probably the most disappointing item. The shrimp tasted old and had a limp, waterlogged texture instead of being firm and fresh. Grilled Alaskan Halibut: At $42, this should have been one of the highlights. Instead, the fish was dry and overcooked, which is especially frustrating with a piece of halibut at this price. Hoisin Brussels Sprouts: Way too sweet for me. The sweetness completely overwhelmed the Brussels sprouts instead of complementing them.
