This is by far my favorite sushi place and I have been to a bunch. It is worth the price has great atmosphere. Great for family and friends.

Wife and I went there for a date night. Food was decent. Nothing really special about this place.

As much as I want to like this place they need some work. They are pricey and they really need Great happy hour deals to bring in the locals. Happy hours specials for both the drinks and the food. Being a "new" restaurant excuse will only last so long. Quality of service needs to improve. Food is not bad sushi is pretty good but for a random Tuesday night I don't want shell out $45-$50 for a couple rolls and a beer. You need weekday specials!!!! read more

Foster's never fails to deliver solid sushi. The fish is just about the freshest around and the service is always friendly. Tried the bento box for the first time at lunch the other day and for $14 it blew me away. I would have paid $20 for it. Came with miso soup, a salad and a gratis appetizer. You wouldn't think a place called "Foster's" would have great sushi (especially in Roanoke)... you won't be disappointed. Oh, and my kids love it. That says it all for me. read more

Just dined at Fosters for the first time and sadly the last because we're moving tomorrow! So glad we took the time to come to downtown Roanoke and experience some of the best sushi in the area. Love the atmosphere here, service was great, and the food was delicious. We shared a soft shell crab appetizer that was incredible. Served hot and crispy on the outside and still juicy on the inside. The sashimi we chose was super fresh and cut in thick slices. The salmon was so buttery and the tuna sashimi was deep red and melted in your mouth. This is how sushi should be! They also have more rolls than I've ever seen! You can come in every day and have something different for months. You absolutely have to have the deep fried cheesecake for dessert no choice! That is some of the best cheesecake we've ever had. We also sampled the house warm sake and tried some sensei whiskey. They have an extensive list of spirits and some fun non-alcoholic choices as well. I think you'll have a great meal here. We sure did! read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! Save your money! Go somewhere else! This has honestly been THE WORST experience of my entire life. We waited 40 minutes for WATERS! And our appetizers took 45 minutes. Our waitress blamed it on the kitchen but I work in the service industry A) i know that lie...B) there was maybe 6 tables in the restaurant. You forgot about us. Then an hour and a half later we finally get our food. Or three of the people at our table did. I got my food after everyone was one eating. Went there for a celebration the other night with friends and had a great time. Service was good, food was amazing and it's a beautiful place. Definitely going to be our new sushi spot. Did not have many drinks due to kids with us but the bar looked great and had several TV's so wwill have to check that out next time since the drink menu looked great. Service was not that great. First of all, the server did not know the menu or drink menu at all. He had to leave, go ask someone, and never return with a drink menu. He just said, no we don't have that. Annoying.... He took forever to refill our drinks and would never look over to the table to check up on us. We ordered miso soup and they gave it to us on the house. It tasted burnt and somewhat old...ew. The sushi is a little over priced but they still were good. The atmosphere is super lame. HORRIBLE SERVICE, UTTERLY UNPROFESSIONAL If there was the option for 0 stars I would have put it there. I had respect for this place before they blatantly scammed me out of $50 and pressured me to pay for something I never ordered. They had a new server (I'm assuming) he was very sloppy with my table, barely checked on how we were, how our food was, and if we needed drinks. Not just that but while ordering he marked another order of sushi, those being at least $15 a piece and the server had never repeated the order back to me. Everything seemed fine until the bill and I calmly said there was a mistake on my receipt which spiraled into chaos: the manager came out to me and yelled at me that it was my fault for "not paying attention" and that I had to pay for something I did not order nor receive. It disrupted not just me but the other customers around me. The manager had not just been rude to me but embarrassed me in front of the whole restaurant. She even went to the lengths of harassing the friend I had brought there because I thought this place was nice. She was yelled at as well for just being with me to the point she had broke down crying. When is this ever acceptable in a business place??? It's a disgrace, I used to enjoy being at this place and it's a shame that I see what it really was. Never eating here again, I suggest not bothering with this place. read more

First the young lady Misty was fantastic. Greeted us with a smile and helped us with every section of the menu. The starters were great. Sushi was perfect. Finished with the hot rock steak. The California Roll & Sizzling Dumplings were excellent. The bulgogi has great flavor but we doubt the meat was ribeye as advertised. The Chicken Fried Rice was awful and I sent it back. It was basically steamed rice with small bits of chicken. There was no egg and the dish wasn't fried at all. I asked for it to be extra spicy, which normally means additional red pepper flakes are added. They added some kind of orange hot pepper sauce instead. If we go back it will only be for sushi. read more

The food was great but the service was so bad we will never go back!! I wish I knew the server's name.. she was shorter than anyone there is the only way I can point her out. She was terrible!! She was so rude!! She came and slammed our food down and walked off leaving us awkwardly staring at it like "is this real!?" This was probably the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant in my life. It took us 35 minutes to get our order in, we received our appetizer around the same time and it came cold, our server mentioned it was his first day and he had nobody there to help him or train him. He didn't greet us at all, there was no silverware brought to us until we asked and needed it to eat our appetizer. Another 30 minutes later we decided to leave as we hadn't received any of our food at all. This place needs serious help, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone at this point. My first experience here was great, but it was also dead and we were the only ones in the restaurant. Holy Cow! Best sushi ever! 5 stars! Wait, I was dreaming of Cowboy Sushi.... Here goes. Once upon a time........ That's about how long it took for the waiter to come to our table. We read every word on the menu, twice. We knew it well. We ordered water and I had a Dallas Blonde ("What is that, sir? A beer? Sorry, I'm new here." You just saved your tip, young man.) We went ahead and ordered our appetizer and entree at the same time because we had memorized the menu by then. Wife ordered a wedge salad and teriyaki chicken and a side of veggies. I got the miso soup and tempura shirmp sushi. Some time later, the water arrived, fresh from the long journey from the Roman aqueducts. It looked so good in that pitcher. Except we had no glasses to pour it into. That was the last time we saw that water pitcher. I was about ready to call MedStar for an I.V. by then. "Oh I forgot...." was the perfect response. My miso arrived then my wife's entree and anemic wedge salad showed up. The runner dropped the food off but the 5 piece tempura shrimp sushi roll went on strike. Finally. The 3/8 inch wide, 5 piece sushi later arrived. I really did stop and get a What A Burger on the way home. We thought we went to a hybrid Japanese steakhouse. Foster's is really a sushi bar with some other expensive items on the menu. How does the name Foster's match a sushi bar??? Overall, I'd rate the quality somewhere between that taco truck on FW Main St and Hardee's. Another reviewer said he'd give it 4 months. I give it a year at most. I get excited when I see new places popping up in our growing city HOWEVER, this is the worst $30 I have ever spent. I don't do many reviews, but it is so necessary to save another from this dreadful establishment. The concept is ideal in that there are not many places to get sushi in Roanoke/Keller, but I will continue to wait for another business to take a stab at it. I should have taken pictures of my food, but it quickly made its way to my trash can (I ordered my food to go). I ordered a temptation roll, shrimp roll, and wedge salad. Just WRONG in every sense of the word. I ate one of each roll and picked at the big piece of lettuce with soggy bacon on top. I was starving when I walked in, but I feel a bit sick now that I am on my couch. Lastly, the apparent owner is overbearing and creates and atmosphere of chaos because she is overly involved. I am headed to my couch to take a quick nap ... my stomach is feeling a but queasy. read more

He told us the Crab Rangoon was the best he had ever had, and it did not disappoint. We are not big sushi eaters, or fans of rice, but the Valentine Roll, also Cory's suggestion, was excellent. We met some friends here for dinner and it was by far the best sushi we have had in a while. While we waited for our tardy friends to arrive, we were treated with some miso soup. When our party was all there we chatted and the staff was very patient while we still couldn't make a decision. In the end, we asked if the chef could just start bringing out some sushi. They complied and started bringing us out an assortment of rolls. Each was better then the last and some table favorites were the Cherry Blossom, Hot Kiss, White Angel & Meat Lover rolls. I think we've found our new spot for sushi in Roanoke! Excellent food, great atmosphere and a wonderful staff. I can not wait to try the rest of what they have to offer! read more

Warning not your traditional Japanese restaurant however, we were pleasantly surprised that this place turned out to have some really fresh hi grade tuna sashimi and tuna poke. The California rolls were excellent fresh and delicious. The poke was spicy and delicious. The chicken teriyaki sauce was very tasty and the portion size was good. The Sarachi had nice fresh high-grade pieces of raw fish. We would have liked to have seen udon on the menu or fried rice with chicken or fried rice with beef. There are many other things we'd like to try on our next visit they had a very large sushi menu. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing and casual. We are looking forward to going back and trying out more from their unique sushi menu. Their sushi chef is excellent! read more

I love sushi , it's probably my favorite food. But I'm picky when it comes to fish. I usually only get sushi from central market, because I haven't seemed to find a restaurant around that's better. We went here on a whim because the place next door was a mess and the one across the street was pricey. We had AMAZING service, which unfortunately is rare these days. Our food was very, very good. The sushi chef came out himself and chatted with us a bit and had us sample a new roll he created. We had a very pleasant experience, great food, great service and now have a new place to come back to. read more
