Fou Lee Market is a must-stop for us whenever we visit Seattle. My husband has deep sentimental ties to this place--it was one of his old stomping grounds, where his younger self would come often for comforting Filipino and Asian foods. Revisiting it always feels special. The market looks small from the outside, but don't be fooled--it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty to browse. The parking lot has limited spots so be prepared to circle or wait briefly. We stopped in just to browse and do some spontaneous shopping, and of course left with more than planned. I was thrilled to find a DIY taho kit (includes sago and arnibal) and grabbed two right away. A tub of Magnolia ube ice cream and banana turons were calling my husband's name, so those came back to the hotel with us too. If we hadn't already eaten, we would've grabbed lunch there--the food smelled so inviting. The cashier was especially lovely--friendly, chatty, and engaging with everyone in line. That kind of warm customer service is refreshing and definitely deserves recognition. We left fully content, happy to revisit a familiar place and score a few fun impulse finds. Fou Lee Market continues to be a comforting, nostalgic stop that never disappoints. Update: The banana turon was really good. Super crunchy exterior with sugar that hardened into a crisp shell instead of turning gooey. Inside was a whole banana, not mushy or overcooked or dry, which gave it great texture. Whoa! So I found this place while visiting grandma nearby her home. I love it! They have all these delicious food ready to go. It's a Filipino market in very tight parking spot. You things like Bahn Mi, a lot of Fried things: Shimp, Wings, Gizzards, Fish. Also lots of Filipino dishes. The prices are super decent and nothing crazy. This is a go to for Asian staples in Beacon Hill. Nothing fancy and reminiscent of markets in other countries. The hot case is a good deal and you can load up a variety of entrees from chow mein to balut. I have not tried the balut yet as I'm not that adventurous. You can find the $2 Asian style wafers, tofu, dried shrimp, and a variety of fruits and meats. Service is fine and I love supporting local markets like the old Viet Wa and the one in Jackson street on 12th. You may find some Chinese greens to stir fry in garlic sauce, or oyster sauce for beef, and winter melon for soup. read more

This Market Never fails me. I stopped by for a quick snack. I was so pleased with the Plantain Turo fried to perfection and very pleasing to my taste buds. I also enjoyed the Banana Leaf wrapped sticky rice with coconut. The texture is grainy but pleasing. Such a wonderful variety of fruits and vegetables also all different varieties of teas. Customer Service is Great. The store makes me feel welcome and it's so inviting and great to learn about the culture. I also bought the Ube sliced Bread and instantly fell in love. Cute little Filipino/Asian market in Beacon hill. They have a lot of overseas snacks and goodies. They also have a hot bar section where you can buy pretty delicious Filipino/asian food. We got a combo plate with rice, Pork Guisantes and Pinakbet. They were really tasty! Got some fried items as well. I will say the fried items aren't as fresh which makes sense because they pre fried and sitting under a light. I took it home and air fried the fried items and they came out really good! It's a very small and simple Asian grocery store, but it's so homey and has all the good things. They have fresh produce as well as packaged products. When it comes to packing the food from the counter, they're quick and they're not stingy either. I get my fried smelt from there and will always go back there for my desserts and tupig. I want to give Fou Lee more stars, but we got overcharged on our visit, I made a huge mistake of not grabbing a receipt, and had to dispute the charge with our credit card company. It was resolved, and we got our money back, but I tried calling Fou Lee to resolve the overcharge before calling my CC company, and they said they couldn't help me, unless I had a receipt. So don't forget to grab your receipt here! (We spent about $50, and were overcharged $200+) Onto our experience minus the overcharge situation. I love mom pop small Asian markets and was very excited to stop by here. We got a bunch of the take out food for dinner and it was decent. We got: - banh mi - adobo - pancit - egg rolls The Banh Mi was dirt cheap, I think it was under $5, i can't remember. the pancit and adobo were tasty. The egg rolls had been sitting out for a while, so those were a bit stale. They had a lot going on in this market and a lot of stuff! This place is a little Filipino grocery store run but Vietnamese people. It has all kinds of things from fruit and vegetables, lots of snacks, different dry pantry items like Asian noodles, garlic corn nuts, different sauces. I always go to the fried section and get a few things. This time I got side of pork-2 pieces, 1/2 lb of the little fish which were very crunchy, and 1/2 lb of squid head-it tastes good but some of them were very hard. I've been going to Fou Lee Market in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood for a long time predating my Yelp days. This is a long overdue review. Fou Lee Market is one of those indie Asian markets not in the CID, has a non descript exterior, crazy busy parking lot (I prefer street parking), but inside is a combo of grocery store - produce stand - butcher/fish monger - sari sari store - baked goods - and deli area. It's one of those Filipino centric shops IYKYK without having to make the further trek to Seafood City in Tukwila. Major draw is the deli area for getting generous lunch combos, all those tasty fried goods, and Filipino delicacies (assorted pulutan). Recommended are the variety of hot entrees available, served with steamed rice, fried rice, or pancit noodles. There's also fried fish like dilis, bangus, pompano, and mackerel. Pork lechon, crispy pata, chicken skin, chicken wings, but my favorites are picking up grilled BBQ pork on a stick, karioka on a stick, puto or bibingka. I had avoided visiting during the pandemic because it was not enforced about masks and social distancing. It was literally a free for all with some of the older folks practically mowing you down with their cart. I recently stopped by to pick up some Mochiko sweet rice flour, pancit canton noodles, and half a dozen meat sticks on 3/25/22 and it was thankfully not overly crowded. Deli counter and cashier staff still wore masks. I still shopped with a mask on since the store has rather cramped, narrow aisles, and wouldn't place any faith on proper HEPA air circulation. An Asian market that is predominantly Filipino? Count me in. Their parking is awkward and small. No doubt there is a large variety of food packed into these slightly cramped aisles. Regarding prices, there is a mix of cheap and overpriced goods. The layout is weird inside with only two registers. I was really interested in their hot food section. Lots of expected fried items: chicken, fish, chicharron, etc. I was pretty disappointed with the fried squid, but the BBQ pork skewers are pretty lean and the way to go. Skip the steamed buns. The rest of the hot food looked a bit basic and bland. I may not come back for this section, but at least for some cheap groceries if I lived closer. read more

It's been awhile since visiting this market deli. Disappointed in my purchase of rice noodle dish from the deli. It was dry, little to no flavor and minimal ingredients, not my first Asian delicacy choice. Prior visits I've enjoy getting a quick lunch of childhood Filipino dishes, not this time . Service was matter factory, deli staff, cashier was more customer focused (warm, courteous and welcoming). Market was all what recall with a nice array of Asian, Pacific Islander dry, produce goods. I wanted to surprise the wife with Filipino food so I did a google search and found this place. I was blown away by all the pics of authentic Filipino dishes and snacks. And when I showed the wife, she couldn't wait to go. When we got to Fou Lee around 1:00 pm it was packed. We took our time going down each aisle twice and it was impressive to see sooooo many unique Filipino snacks that we don't even see back home in Hawaii. Especially the significant selection of Goldilocks brand products like the frozen sio pao. We ended up buying a couple grocery bags of snacks including hopia, mamon, ensaymada, mamon tostado, salted egg potato chips, shrimp crackers, clover chips, egg cracklets, ginataang monggo, mini ube bread, and pork adobo sio pao. Never got to try any of it yet except the ube bread which was very good. The bread was so soft and the ube wasn't overly sweet. We also got a bunch of prepared food including bibingkang latik, palitaw, suman, kare kare, paksiw, galunggong, fried shrimp, vegetable lumpia, pancit, and rice. I would give the grocery selection 5 stars and the prepared food 1 to 2 stars. The food was just nothing like the Filipino food back home. The kare kare was loaded with intestines and very little vegetables or meat; however, the sauce/soup was decent. The lumpia was bland at best. The pancit was also bland and there were pockets of noodles that were plain white (in other words, they were not touched by any of the seasoning). The shrimp and fish were decent. Lastly, the paksiw was undercooked by a couple hours-- the meat was tough and chewy. The desserts were the worse. The suman was probably the only decent one. The rice in the bibingkang was as tough as could be. Lastly, the palitaw only came with sesame seeds and lacked the side sugar that you're suppose to sprinkle on top. Overall, we were a bit disappointed with the experience after spending nearly $100. If we did come back, it would probably be just for the groceries. read more

I purchased a fish sauce, grab 2 of Vitonamise sandwich (ready-made) and spring rolls (ready-made) to checkout. This is a great little Asian store on beacon Hill. It has been there for a long time. I've been there many times and found anything that I really needed. Plus they have a little deli that has Filipino food. And to be honest with you, it's better than a lot of the Filipino restaurants. Even that one down the street from there. Give it a try. I've been coming here since I could ever remember. This is a local spot to grab Filipino food and snacks before Seafood City open in Southcenter. However, this place changed a lot and accused my 10 year old nephew of stealing candy. The person at the Deli yelled "check his pockets!" "he took something!" pointing at my nephew who just had his hand in his pocket and didn't steal anything. BUT WAIT. GUESS WHAT?! She didn't even see him grabbed anything. We've been going to Foulee for years now. They have produce, all sorts of Filipino/Vietnamese/Chinese/Korean/Japanese goods, meat, and prepared food for a reasonable price. Only two registers in the store, but those gals were quick and got through the lines of grocery shoppers in good time. The price is much cheaper than Seafood City. I was disappointed with the "dinuguan" from the hot food section. The 'meat' was almost entirely chopped pork fat and exceedingly salty. I felt like I needed dialysis after forcing myself to finish the dish (hey, I'm Filipino and conditioned to eat food to the last grain). Be mindful of parking! I was looking for Filipino food but didn't fancy driving all they way to Renton or Kent. I found Fou Lee market on Yelp. I don't know why I hadn't found this place before. They have a great hot bar for take out. We got the grilled pompano, chicken bbq skewers, fried squid heads, pork fried rice, vermicelli noodles, dinuguan (pork blood stew) and another pork dish. Many dishes didn't have labels, but a friendly Filipino customer explained some of the dishes to us. The Dinuguan is a delicious dish, especially if you like blood sausages or blood pudding. I'm often wary of the flavors of larger fish, but the large pompano was wonderfully grilled and flavorful. The fried squid heads are crunchy. I could eat these all day. We had them with a spicy chili rub. These should go well with cold beer. Definitely need to go back read more

I cant believe it took me so long to get here. This is my kind of market! All the hard to find rando asian ingredients like pigs blood and sky flakes crackers in one place! The quirky layout and uneven floor makes it all the more endearing. The hot food "turo turo" style section has a delightful array of filipino and pan asian favorites. I am partial to the fried chicken skins which honestly should be in every convenience store. So tasty! They also have good looking bbq skewers and karaoka. Food on sticks is a weakness of mine.
