We ordered two large pizza's General Tso chicken and a Margarita, wings and a salad. My husband is a wing expert and said the wings were "not bad". The chicken pizza was done very well with plenty of toppings but the real standout was the margarita. Delicious! The whole order was ready exactly when they told us it would be and they were very pleasant when we picked it up. If this place is hyped, it's only because the local competition is underwhelming. The spot is airy and comfortable, and the guy at the register, though gruff, is friendly and fast moving. The pizza is a little too doughy and oversauced in my opinion. I know pizza is very personal, so I could see why others would like this place a lot. In a pinch it'll take care of the craving. We got two regular pizzas (marg and pep), and one square plain. The square was the better of the group, thinner crispier crust and good balance. Great location, a small parking lot, a variety of seating options (including patio seating) make Founded Pizzeria a good neighborhood spot. Pro tip: head upstairs to the loft if you want to dine in the warmth from the pizza ovens. I imagine the patio seating is great in warmer months! While Founded Pizzeria's Detroit-style pizzas weren't my favorite versions (there didn't seem to be much of a flavor difference between the basil pesto and the hot honey pies), the edges were nice and crisp, and the chicken caesar salad had terrific chicken cutlets--salad also came with a garlic knot. First off the food is pretty good here. We walked in and noticed how cute the decor is here. There were people coming in and ordering food to go so we were excited to have a nice place to sit down and eat. The service/staff didnt feel that welcoming. We felt that the vibe was off like they didnt really want to have us hanging around there and eating. We ordered two pizzas and mozzarella fries. They also sold bottled waters so I'm sure asking for free water wasn't an option. They have a soda machine where you can get multiple sodas by a push of a button. I did notice a sign to say no refills...which was strict but whatever. The general tso chicken pizza came with chicken, broccoli on a white pizza. It was also smothered in this ginger/teriyaki type sauce. Pretty good but too much sauce. My husbands pepperoni pizza with the fresh basil was pretty good. The mozzarella fries were literally crispy fries with melted mozzarella on them. Not sure if this was worth the $9 we paid. A hidden little gem that I stumbled upon when looking for a quick bite, Founded hit the marks and satisfied my craving for some good pizza. Being a native New Yorker, pizza is in my blood, so to say my standards are high, it would be very accurate. Philly overall has a decent pizza scene from all the places I've tried, like decent enough that I don't miss NY pizza too much and the cravings are satisfied, but nothing has really wow'd me. Maybe the expectations were low when trying this place, but it was the first time I was pleasantly surprised with pizza. They definitely have their own vibe on pizza, but not a bad thing. This is my go-to work from home spot! I dig the pizza and soda special (I think it's 2 slices and a drink for under $9)! I usually head upstairs where there's ample seating and relatively quiet for being a pizza/coffee shop. The internet is dependable and always a place to sit! I love the look and the vibe, too because they have plants everywhere and it brings me a lot of joy when I need to escape my home office! Dive right in! The garlic knots were probably some of the best I've had in the city. Very well rounded: crisp outside without being burnt or too hard, soft inside, and garlic flavor all over. These are a must if you order from here. The pizza is delicious and fresh. I wouldn't get the margherita pizza again just because it's too much sauce for me personally however with that being said I still ate all of it. The sauce was refreshing, the cheese was good (wish I had more), pepperoni had good flavor, and that basil really pops out. We love this place for pizza. Quick service, margarita is our favorite though my husband also loves the buffalo chicken slice. I've enjoyed the arugula veggie slice as well. The pizza is great. Nice crispy crust that I'd describe as thin to medium. You can buy by the slice or by the pie. I haven't tried their coffee. The building, which was an old stone stable, is neat, with some seating downstairs and more upstairs in the loft. They have outdoor seating as well. read more

I don't know if you know but since we've moved to Germantown, we've been in search of "our" pizza spot. We got 1 large plain and one medium Detroit style Margherita Burrata Pesto. I don't know what Detroit style is. But when my wife had a slice she said "this is our spot." The crust on the regular is a little fluffier than I like. I'm more of a thin crispy guy. Extra sauce. When I went in to pick up the place looked pretty cool. Large open space. Not a crammed little coffee shop. I'm looking forward to trying so more of their other types as well as their coffee. I've yet to have any coffee, soup or pastries - but have been frequenting the location for slices of pizza on occasion. The prices have slowly creeped up over the last 3 years. Initially, the 2 slices + canned soda or water was roughly $6.49+ tax so about $7 including tax. Then it crept up to $6.99 + tax. More recently , must have been the last couple of months it is now up to $6.99 + tax for 2 plain slices + fountain soda or $7.99 any 2 slices + fountain drink. There is also a sign posted on the fountain dispenser that there are no free refills, 99 cents per refill. The pizza is solid. Nice crispy crust, good sauce, a plethora of different toppings and pizzas to choose from for both meat lovers and veggies alike. I really enjoy their veggie pizza along with their pizza with pesto and burrata. For a business that I consider is always solid - good consistent food and service, I find the no refills policy a bit outdated and stingy... but that's just me. read more

Wow what a hidden gem! To be honest I was a little hesitant of the pizza shop in a coffee shop, but that was all wrong! The pizza is very fairly priced (11.99 for a medium pizza), and was fantastic! We got the Margherita Burrata Pesto Pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. It was fresh with basil, perfectly oily with the cheese and pesto, gooey with the burrata cheese, and acidic with the tomatoes. What a great pie. There is an upstairs loft which is nice for working while you eat. During covid they have a decent amount of outdoor seating between picnic tables and tables with umbrellas. The staff is so nice and friendly! They took all covid precautions. The pizza slices are very good and they have some pretty unique flavors like general tso's and burrata with pesto! This place is awesome! Really cool atmosphere with plants in all of the windows. An upstairs & a downstairs. Lots of natural light and places to sit both inside and outside. Pizza was awesome and so was the matcha latte I ordered. The staff was friendly and seemed happy to hear that it was my first time trying it out. We ordered a four cheese square pizza with pepperoni, curly cheese fries, and garlic knots for pick up. The wait was a bit longer than expected, but the pizza was pretty yummy. Crispy crust, just barely big enough for two hungry people. The garlic knots were not cooked all the way through, which is unfortunate because they smelled amazing! The curly fries were soft by the time we got home, but they were still tasty. I'm sure they would have been great fresh. I'd probably give it more like 3.5 stars overall but the pizza teeters it up to a 4. I'd love to come back to try the coffee during the day. read more
