Breakfast in Salem is always difficult to find without a reservation in October. We were able to sit outside in their covered tent without too long of a wait. The food was okay. I had the eggs, bacon and home fries combo with an iced coffee. The iced coffee was something to be desired, but the seasoning on the home fries were excellent! Eggs were cooked well and not greasy. Our server was so sweet and welcoming and was very apologetic about the lengthy wait for our meals. It was very understandable because they had a full house inside and out. Food wasn't that great, I got the Irish Benny and my. Friend made her own omelette and had a fountain drink and breakfast was over $50 for 2 people, seemed expensive. My daughter and I had breakfast here on Saturday morning. The restaurant is small but cozy. We were seated right away. Service was quick and efficient. We ordered the eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs, toast and bacon. Both meals were piping hot and very tasty. Wait staff was very friendly and talkative. After walking for hours we finally found a delicious restaurant worth the wait. We only waited 15 minutes to be seated for a party of 5. I must say the service was great and quick, but the food was the best part. I ordered the fountain chicken sandwich and it was tasty and fresh. It was made with bacon and cheddar cheese and mighty tasty. My family and I had a great time here and I would recommend coming back for a fresh home cooked meal for sure. This was overall a disappointing experience. We have loved every restaurant we've been to in Salem until Fountain place. When the food arrived the eggs smelled bad. We decided to go ahead and try the food and it was just as we thought it would be. One of us got French toast and when putting syrup on, the lid popped off and syrup was drowning the French toast. Don't bother telling them or asking for new French toast because they don't care. The owner is rude! She came over and said that she tried my omelet and that is tasted good. Hahahahaha. Okay thanks for trying my food when we're going through a pandemic. Disgusting! If she is willing to eat food off someone else's plate, I can't imagine the place is too clean. No apologizes. No responsibility. The staff seemed stressed out! I feel bad for them for having to work with such a disgusting owner. It was too busy, unorganized and the food is disgusting. Please make sure that you check your hand written receipt. My self and four of my friends had breakfast here the other day and were charged $152. I was initially surprised and decided to add up all the items and the total came up to $84. When we asked the server to explain how she totaled the bill she explained that she added tax to each food item. When one of us approached her separately to ask about the bill the server responded "what don't you her?" Very rude, so the five of us walked up to the counter and asked another worker to total the bill. Once the worker did she turned to our original server and asked "how did you get $152?" It's fine. Employees were nice and food was standard diner food. They have built in gratuity here which is very odd for a small diner. Also they have a fee if you split a plate . We ended up spending more money than we wanted to and you could find a nicer breakfast place for the same place . I was really excited to try this place because the Reviews and pictures of these delicious breakfast were so raved about but when I went there, I was VERY disappointed. I got a waffle with strawberry's on top and when I ate a piece of my waffle, it tasted like onions all throughout my waffle. It's literally the worst place to eat in Salem downtown. The people are rude, like they don't want us to place the order. Customers are not valued, wait times are easily 30 minutes over than estimated time. My sister doesn't eat meat and she found a chicken piece camouflaged with her home fries. I called them to complain and they stalled to call back during evening time. I followed up for 1 week and they never called me back. Overall it's insanely high priced, the food quality is also not good and you can order quality food at much cheaper price from its competitors literally 100 feet away. read more

I had been thinking about the Apple Cinnamon French Toast since last year when I had seen it on the menu and foolishly decided to order something else instead. We managed to get a table fairly quickly, but we had a walking tour leaving in 20 minutes - so we told our server who expedited our order as much as she could, and when we were cutting it close on time, she wrapped my breakfast sandwich to go, and I ate on the walk. The place is designed like a cute little dinner with nice big windows for a view of Essex St. We came on a Sunday morning and there was no wait which I love. Our waitress was very friendly and service was good and prompt. We got our food relatively fast within 15 minutes of ordering. Food style was regular dinner food with your typical eggs, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and french toast. It had good taste, but I gave it 4 stars because my hollandaise sauce wasn't phenomenal for me. However, my wife got the egg, sausage, and cheese croissant and she said it was good for her and filling. My French toast was also good, but not phenomenal and lacked sweetness. We've been staying in beautiful Salem for a week and have eaten at Fountain Place 3 times. The food is yummy and very reasonably priced. The staff have made us feel very welcome and made us feel like we are in a home from home amongst friends. Can't recommend enough, if you go get the home fries, they're amazing. read more

Had breakfast outdoors on Friday. Great setting to watch people. Table we were at wobbled a little on the bricks, no big deal but waitress first thing brought out folded cardboard to stabilize it. Got some hot mugs of coffee that were being continuously refilled even though all the tables were taken. My daughter and I had the big breakfast which included the coffee which frequently is extra at breakfast places. My wife ordered the corned beef hash with poached eggs with hollandaise sauce- a huge and per her a delicious plate. The big breakfasts were served with perfectly cooked eggs on neatly arranged plates. Waiting time for our meal was prompt, our coffee mugs continuously being refilled.
