Stopped by to celebrate a birthday, and decided this is one of my top five favorite restaurants in SGV. Ordered the steak with added grilled shrimp, salmon with butternut squash risotto and bolognese - delicious! Had the lemon cake with birthday gelato for dessert - yummy! Service is excellent - love this place.
3.5 stars. Came here for a work dinner on a Saturday at 7pm, the restaurant was 75% full. They had really cute Xmas decor and the ambiance was nice. A great place for a date. I wouldn't recommend for a work dinner though. Although we were a party of 12 and got charged the large party service charge, we had to flag our server to take our orders and it took so long we decided to order drinks, appetizers, and our mains all at once. - Bruschetta: 7/10, it's my favorite app and I was sad to say I was disappointed as it had an overwhelming amount of sauce. I'm used to simple and fresh bruschetta so this was not my cup of tea - Cesar salad: 10/10, really crisp and delicious, not heavy on the sauce, would definitely get again - arugula salad: 9/10 my table mate got this and I tried a bite, it was good! - bolognese Rigatoni: 8/10, not too heavy, but unfortunately was quite soft in texture and not al dente - you can add scallops to your pasta for $15, 4 large pieces cooked deliciously and totally worth it. - cacio e Pepe: 5/10, my table mate got it and I tried a bite, we were both surprised by the choice of pasta, as it was too thick and also overcooked. So glad I didn't order it, because I was debating between order the cacio e Pepe vs the bolognese Rigatoni Parking: It's in the happening part of Whittier so street parking, which is tough. There's a parking garage 2-3 streets down that I found luck parking in
We had a party of 10 @ 6pm on a Saturday for two birthdays. The ambiance with the christmas decor was beautiful and warm! The host sat us immediately and our server was quick to our service. He is definitely a hustler and sweet. The food was just as good as I remember. My main dish was the King Salmon, it had a perfectly crisp skin and the puree with risotto was amazing -- the tastes and texture. Get the caesar salad as a refreshment. My boyfriend and I were given ice cream for our birthdays and we ordered the lemon cake. Absolutely delicious. The owner is awesome. He checks on his customers and I think that goes to show how great of a restaurant this is and how much passion goes into this food.
Food was great! Fresh & exactly as described. Fairly priced. Only beer & wine! Just in case you're looking for a cocktail, this isn't the place. Felt like the music didn't fit the vibe of the restaurant... but, it was a great date spot. Is definitely a place to check out if you're in uptown Whittier!
This is an overdue review but very necessary. We went out to dinner on a Sunday evening in uptown and decided to try this Italian place. It was surprisingly very quiet for a Sunday dinner. Luis was our server and he was so kind and attentive the entire time without making us feel like he was hovering which I love. Everything we had was incredibly delicious. We started with the Arancini and a Caesar salad as an appetizer, unfortunately we ate them too quickly to remember to take a picture. The arancini was crispy on the outside, creamy risotto on the inside and the sauce it's served with was amazing. I ordered the bucatini and added shrimp, pasta was al dente and the shrimp nicely cooked and flavorful. My husband is a huge fan of homemade gnocchi but it's hard to find places that make them perfectly. His were perfect! Soft, pillowy, just the right amount of sauce and definitely made with love. We decided to not finish our dinner so that we could try out their desserts and because we couldn't decide between the butter cake or tiramisu we got both :) and we ate everything. The tiramisu ladyfingers were nicely soaked but not too heavy, the butter cake was moist and overall it was a spectacular meal. Can't wait to come back again and try out the rest of the menu!
First visit and had an excellent experience. We had met the owners at a Yelp event a couple months back, and loved their meatballs so much I made a note to visit the restaurant asap. It's located in a beautiful brick building and the décor is fancy/casual. There's primarily on street parking, with city/private lots nearby. SERVICE: Excellent. When I asked about the elevator, the hostess told me that it was out of order, but she followed me outside and assisted us with getting my elderly mother-in-law up the many steps from the street. Once seated, Leo waited on us, and he couldn't have been better. The entire waitstaff worked very well together. FOOD & DRINKS: OMG...so delicious! We started by sharing the Arancini appetizer ($14) which was a first-ever for me and it fabulous. For entrées, we ordered the Striped Sea Bass Special ($40), the Rigatoni Bolognese ($25) and added two meatballs (+$10), and the Guanciale Wrapped Prawns ($20). Everything had so much flavor and was prepared perfectly. I'm not a big fish fan, but that Striped Bass was fantastic. We finished off the evening by sharing the Lemon Butter Cake ($12) and an Affogato al Caffe ($8). Currently, they only have beer and wine, but I heard that they are seeking a liquor license so that cocktails will be available in the future. TIP: We brought our own bottle of wine and there was a $25 corkage fee, which is reasonable compared to many other places. My one negative comment would be that there are a lot of steps from street level up to the restaurant, and the elevator was not working. They did mention that they have a rear entrance which is accessible from an alley, and we could have used this for my 91-year-old mother-in-law. She chose to do the exercise and take the steps. Overall, a fantastic place with very good food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend you give them a try.
I have to start by giving a shout out to the hostess. I wish I knew her name but we had reservations at 8:00, they were kind to move them up to 8:30 but when we arrived she was very apologetic that she didn't have a clean table, they were short staffed but sat us down near the bar and they helped us right away with drinks while we waited. I got a chance to look around. The restaurant looks like you're walking into a beautiful big house, it has an open floor plan with simple pretty decor. I like that you can see the cooks in the kitchen. The kitchen is beautiful and looks clean. I didn't like our seating, we were sat in a side room with less ambiance and decor. There was a large party that was loud with screaming kids but that's not the restaurants fault. We waited for awhile before we flagged a gentleman to take our order. He was very sweet and I think he realized service was very slow because he was checking on us frequently and even brought us a cup of vanilla bean ice cream with pistachios and berries. We ordered the prime rib and pasta. The prime rib was excellent. Cooked to perfection. The pasta was cold when it came out and didn't have enough sauce. The gentleman asked if he can take it back to the kitchen and make a new one. However, we waited too long and didn't want to inconvenience the kitchen. This restaurant does not serve any bread or sides with their plates. Keep that in mind when ordering. I would like to return and try something else on the menu. Also, I would request to sit on the other side of the restaurant.
This cozy little Italian restaurant is located in uptown Whittier. The patio was so cute and intimate. But we had to move indoors because of the mosquitoes, hubby and I are very sensitive to mosquito bites. The menu was classic Italian dishes, a lot of good choices. We started off with bottle of white and shrimp appetizer. For entrees we had bolognese and whole Branzino, also side of risotto. A clam pizza to go as lunch for the next day. For desserts we had lemon butter cake and espresso shot. The food was surprisingly delicious in healthy portions. I especially liked the Branzino fish and risotto. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive the entire time. What a great Italian restaurant in the neighborhood! We will definitely visit again soon!
Exceeded my expectations. We ordered the 1. Bucatini Cacio e Pepe Bechamel was perfect in consistency and flavor. The truffle waa worth the additional price, gave it a nutty accent. 2. Lasagna Al Forno I only had a bite, but was very flavorful and not greasy. 3. The Argugula and Pistachio salad I personally love this salad but if you do not like arugula don't bother. It had candied cranberry, pistachio, and purple cabbage, with a lemon vinaigrette. The candied cranberry was thin, sweet/tart and crisp. 4. Mini Cannolis - perfect with coffee 5. Latte & Americano - the americano was strong, but tasty. The table water was room temperature but to my suprise it was good. No funky flavors or weird smells. I usually don't drink retaurant water but I am pretty sure theirs is well filtered or possibly bottled. The service was attentive. Expensive but worth it. I fux wit it.
This was our first time at Four Brick by La Crosta, and we had high expectations--the restaurant smelled amazing when we walked in! Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to that first impression. We started with the Arancini, which was good--the sauce was flavorful, and the texture was nice and crispy. No complaints there. For mains, my boyfriend ordered the King Salmon Risotto, and I got the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe with Shrimp. The salmon had a beautifully crispy skin, but the fish itself lacked seasoning--especially salt--and the risotto was bland. My Bucatini was a bit of a letdown as well. The pasta was gummy, and the shrimp was overcooked and dry. As for the ambiance, the restaurant is nicely designed, but the layout feels a little disjointed, like you're sitting in multiple separate spaces rather than one cohesive dining area. The lighting was also inconsistent--most of the restaurant had a nice, soft glow, but in some areas, the lighting was harsh. Unfortunately, we were seated in one of the harshly lit spots, which took away from the cozy vibe. For what we paid, the meal should have been much better. Our total for two entrées and one appetizer was $99.23, and at that price point, we expected more flavor and better execution. Overall, I'd say the restaurant is overpriced, the food is mediocre, and I don't think I'll be back.
A Hidden Gem for Italian Food Lovers! We recently discovered this little spot and absolutely fell in love with it. The food is delicious, the ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and every dish we tried was outstanding. You can really taste the quality and care in each bite. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back again!

Had the privilege of dining here 7/14/24. The ambiance is very reminiscent of my travels in Italy. Very clean, modern, simplistic. The food is Michelin quality food. Had the arancini & meatballs to start. The vodka sauce was full of depth & complexity. The meatballs had a pleasing bacon flavor...very juicy! Had some pasta with shrimp & scallops. Perfectly seared scallops!!! And the homemade pasta had the perfect texture. Coming from someone with a culinary background, the seafood was perfectly cooked & executed!! The wine selection come from various prestigious wineries. The servers you can tell are very seasoned and knowledgeable on giving the guest a great dining experience. Noice!! Was looking for a good Italian spot in the area. Very very cute vibes. Music was good, staff very friendly and accommodating. We started off with 2 orders of meatballs. Good flavor, I do like my meatballs more saucy, but, overall good meatballs. Meatballs were complimented with grilled focaccia. For entrees, we got the lasagna and sea bass with side of potatoes. The lasagna was delicious and the portion was great! The sea bass was like a mojarra style and that was surprising to see a whole fish at an Italian spot. It was the first time for me, but I am not complaining. The fish was seasoned wonderfully. Overall, nice Italian restaurant. We spent around $125 for 2 people so can be a little on the pricey side. read more

Had an amazing girls night dinner here. Made reservations and got seated right away. Reuben(not sure how to spell it correctly) was our server and he was soooo sweet, helpful, and attentive. We tried a few white wines and settled on the Chenin Blanc - went well with all the food. We shared the smoked tomato bruschetta, cacio e pepe, penne alla vodka, and nduja & peppers pizza. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the bruschetta and pizza. The bruschetta had a perfect blend of tomato, cheese, bread, and sauce. The pizza had a kick to it and the peppers and sausage went well together. My only negative would be that the pasta was slightly overcooked but the flavors were still delicious. I will start off by reminding you guys that follow me that I'm a Le cordon Bleu grad and so is this amazing chef !! The food is delicious normally I am weary of going to places that are 2 months young , with that said I shall tell you that I was not disappointed!! I didn't even take a pic of the arancini as we devoured it I highly recommend that appetizer! Had the ribeye with truffle butter! My goodness it was tasty! Cooked to perfection! The rigatoni bolognese! Al dente I love never having to add anything when the flavors come together deliciously! Top your meal off with their macchiato you won't regret it !!! Gave Four Bricks a try, and it wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible either. The restaurant was recommended to me by a family member so we went for dinner. We were greeted by the hostess, who was kind enough to seat us without a reservation. We ordered meatballs and their Margarita pizza. The order came out rather quickly. The meatballs weren't as good as I was hoping. But they were a good size. The pizza didn't have much on it. Seems to be more of just a cheese pizza. The prices weren't that bad, so that was a plus. The ambiance was nice. Will we try it again? Maybe, but I would definitely order something different. Giving 4 stars because the service was great and descent prices. read more

A few years ago, I was driving down Whittier Blvd when I saw a pop-up setting up on the parking lot of Bailey's liquor store. Wasn't too sure what they were selling, but i caught a glimpse of what looked like a pizza oven. A pizza oven? On this tiny parking lot? On this run-of-the-mill liquor store? Wtf? Liquor store parking lot pizza? So I did the obvious thing and kept driving... i stopped by Chema's tacos right down the street to get me some asada, al pastor, and chorizo tacos. But I made a mental note: parking lot pizza at Bailey's. A couple of weeks later, I was craving pizza and decided to roll the dice. I carefully wedged my car into a parking spot on that narrow sidestreet off Whittier Blvd and parked. I walked over and ordered myself a Margherita (AKA The Mootzarell). Crust, sauce (San Marzano tomatoes), cheese, and fesh basil. Oh, and a drizzle of olive oil to finish it off. I still remember biting into that chewy, deliciously charred crust. I remember the freshness of the ingredients. Flavourful tomato sauce, salty cheese... and that fesh, minty, basil bringing it all together. It's been my favorite pizza ever since. Well, Four Bricks extends this quality to a new horizon. I stopped by Four Bricks with my cousin on Sunday, and it was a solid experience. From the moment we were seated, our server was there with cold water, menus, and a welcoming demeanor. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese and my cousin (the last piece) of lasagna. It was obvious that the chef takes pride in his recipes and has a genuine passion for Italian cuisine. You can watch him in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on the dishes; ensuring that the plating is up to standard before the dishes go out. Like a painter putting the finishing touches on a masterpiece. We started out with the smoked tomato bruschetta. Simple and fresh. A nice char to the bruschetta on the outside and a soft center. The perfect vessel to transport the tomato, garlic, cheese and basil right to my piehole. The pasta was reasonably priced since it was good quality ($25 lasagna and $23 for the Rigatoni Bolognese). We ordered 2 beers each, and everything came out to about $52 a pop. Not bad for some delicious Italian cuisine and 2 ice-cold brewskies. Our only gripe was that the entrees didn't come with a portion of complimentary bread or a small salad. Or an option to add those for a surcharge. But this didn't detract from the delicious dinner and the overall experience. The patio where we sat--and the restaurant as a whole-- was very inviting. Classy, but not intimidating. Great atmosphere and awesome staff. I'm glad that they have come a long way since those parking lot days at Bailey's liquor store. I still go to Chema's for some tacos, but now; when I look west on Whittier Blvd toward Bailey's, I expect to see that pizza oven hitched to a truck and when i don't see it there, i get a sense of nostalgia. That memory of eating my first Mootzarell drifts into my mind like a cool summer breeze, and I distinctly remember savoring that initial bite and thinking to myself, "I hope these guys never go out of business." read more

I'm not sure where to start...when we arrived the staff was so attentive and knowledgeable with the menu and gave great recommendations . The vibe was perfect, romantic for a date night and great for celebrating a special occasion with family and friends. The food was so delicious. It was my first time here, we tried the meatballs as our appetizer and the pork chop and the bucatini cacio e Pepe as our main course. The meatballs were packed with flavor and the bruschetta served with it was perfect! The pork chop was so juicy and flavorful! Definitely one of the best I've tried. You will not be disappointed in this dish! The pasta was amazing and cooked perfectly, the sauce was creamy and the pecorino was just the right amount. I will definitely be visiting Four Bricks again and can't wait to try other dishes!! read more

Found another gem in Whittier: Four Bricks by La Crosta. My girlfriend and I absolutely loved it! The arancini were crispy on the outside, however I would have preferred if the cheese was melted a bit more in the inside. The salad was fresh and had a lot of texture, but the short rib stole the show. It was so tender and flavorful, it practically melted in our mouths. Every dish was a delight. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations. The friendly and accommodating staff made us feel right at home. It was an ideal spot for a date night or a casual dinner with friends. Plus, parking was easy, which is always a bonus. read more

Ambiance and Service was Excellent at 7:30PM on a Thursday night. My lady and I thoroughly enjoyed the dinner we shared. We started with a first course of their house-made focaccia with garlic butter. 10/10 Then a Little Gem Caesar Salad with an Anchovy Caesar Dressing . 10/10 My lady's main was the Pasta Carbonara + Shrimp. 10/10 My Main was the Salmon Risotto. 10/10 Skipped desert for some Cold Stone Ice cream. For the portion, quality, and flavor of the food. I feel the price of $106.94 for a two person dinner; is more than fair. With that being said I'll be making my rounds to this place soon again. read more

Finally tried this spot! Food: food was pretty good! I had a pasta, appetizer, and a pizza. Appetizer was their arrancini I believe- YUM! Definitely recommend! Pasta was super rich! Pizza (I don't remember the pizza but it had peppers)- was not the best. Mild, lacked flavor compared to the pizzas they sell at La croata, tbh!!! Lovely and unique space! Definitely will be returning to try more dishes and hopefully better pizza! read more

I hadn't been here before so I thought I'd try it out for a date night. Loved the ambience and the little room we were out in was nice. I loved the pasta, it was delicious and the texture of the pasa was perfectly al dente. I would definitely go back for a good pasta. As for the sides I wasn't a fan of the garlic butter for our focaccia bread although the bread was very fluffy, dense and very good. I will say I'm not a big fan of the broccolini and if I return will try another side. I thought maybe it was accidentally burnt but it didn't look it. It just tasted absolutely charred and I'm not sure why. We didn't send it back as it was taken from our table but probably would have if I'd thought about it. Al in all beautiful place wonderful main dishes and friendly service. Just would need to try more sides to know more about those. read more

Guys if your ever in uptown Whittier please check out my friends Restaurant I have know him for ove 15 yrs he stated out as a executive chef at the Luxe hotel in downtown to and now he has 3 locations here in Whittier but this is the only full restaurant. Came back for a second time to try the best steak in Whittier. Absolutely correct! Our server LUIS was outstanding! LUIS has always been so professional and very friendly. LUIS is so attentive and continues to be an outstanding server. We started with the shrimp cocktail and focaccia bread and Cesar salad, was amazing! We shared the Ribeye Steak and it came perfect cooked as requested, medium rare. The truffle butter on top makes it superb! Cork fee for our wine bottle is $25.00, be aware. We ended dinner with Cannoli's. They were so good! Reservations recommended. You will not be disappointed. read more

Delicious food, pretty venue and great service not much more you could ask for. It has a limited menu but it has all the hits. The Short-rib Polenta dish is perfect and the Arancini Balls only failed in disappearing too quickly. The Mini Cannoli are a good way to end the dinner. read more

LOVED EVERYTHING!!! We were a large group, half kiddos, and during our time here everything was perfect. The service was excellent, food came timely & hot, wine was delish, and everything kid/family friendly. The kids loved the focaccia, pepperoni pizza, and rigatoni. Of course the gelato, minus the espresso, was a win for dessert. The adults ordered a number of dishes to share/try. We loved every single thing we ordered, but my personal favorites were the branzino, the side of potatoes, and the mini cannoli for dessert. We paired it with a Pinot and it was to die for!
