Apparently, I didn't read the reviews. Arrived on time for my car rental reservation, only to be greeted by an extremely long line & no information from the two agents at the desk. The customer at the front stated she just waited an over an hour to complete her reservation. Apparently, Fox Car Rental has been experiencing computer problems all week according to Budget who I decided to rent my car with at a better price & faster service after I called Priceline & cancelled with Fox. I'm so glad I did not prepay for this deplorable service. Customers have itineraries & shouldn't have to wait an hour for a car rental. Don't be fooled by the prices online, stick with the major car rental companies at the airport. Priceline should do a more thorough performance review on the car rental companies they list on their website. Fox Rental has bad customer service at Chicago, IL airport. The guy at Fox rental desk was irresponsible and said 'we do not have any car at arrival. I was upset to hear the response. He said you have to wait for an hour or more to get a car. Although, I have made early online reservation thru Expedia.com. He said that reservation is not the guarantee to car available. He started argument with me (customer). I travelled a lot in U.S but I never had a bad experience and response like this, very frustrating and disgusting. I rented from Fox in Las Vegas last year and the counter agent snuck in "Buy your gas now and bring it back empty". In 54 years of renting cars I have never "Paid for fuel in advance and bring it back empty" how the hell can you do that and not risk running out of gas and screwing up your outbound flight? I took their customer service survey told them what happened and have never been contacted by anyone from Fox so I vowed NEVER to rent from them again. A couple of days ago I booked a flight with Spirit Airlines to Chicago and added a car to the reservation. SURPRISE! My rental is with Fox and the first thing I told the counter agent was "Do not charge me for fuel in advance if it's full I will return it full". Np return flight canceled I need to extend my rental one day. They have several phone numbers including the local number and they never ever answer their telephones. I called heard the same messages over and over and then CLICK hang up. This company has ZERO customer service NEVER AGAIN! No more bundles you cannot control your car or hotel with air bundles! read more

I have not been treated so rudely in a very long time. At the car return, Adrian wouldn't even acknowledge me until I walked over to the kiosk-and I was the only car in the place. She then walked out to the car, checked the gas gauge and walked back to the kiosk. She did not speak ONE WORD to me. I had to walk back over to the kiosk to ask if my return was complete at which point I got a nod. Again not ONE WORD was spoken. Wow. Plus the car smelled terrible. They sent me a bill for a ticket I received for THEIR CAR not being registered appropriately with the city. When I spoke to them, when returning the car (because they wouldn't answer the phone any other time I called) they informed me they have been fighting with the City of Chicago for sometime now. They told me the car shouldn't have received this 'city sticker' ticket because it was a rental car and told me they would handle it with the city. Long wait time at the pickup counter and the only rental counter that had only one rep working. When we did finally get to the pickup area the attendant there was very rude and then the car was in bad condition. There were scratches and scrapes around the car from previous use, the carpet looked as if it was torn from the vehicle with no attempt to replace it, and the smell was awful! It smelled like a wet dog was smoking old cigarettes after running 10 miles. I would never use this company again or recommend it to anyone! read more

Ohhhhh I made a huge mistake reserving a Fox car via Priceline. I opted for "pay now/no refunds" because I knew I would need the car and wasn't planning to cancel. I HAD NO IDEA UNTIL I READ IT ON A "NOT RECOMMENDED" YELP REVIEW that I could only drive the car to states adjoining Illinois. Now I can't cancel and get a refund - Fox just punted me to Priceline, and Priceline's automated attendant says nope, no refunds, no exceptions, don't bother trying to talk to an operator, so long sucker and thanks for the $400. I could SCREAM - this appeared nowhere on the rental offer before I reserved the car, I would have gotten to the airport tomorrow and been absolutely SOL if not for a review here. I had the worst experience ever renting a car from Fox car Rental. I stood in line 95 minutes to make it to the counter only to get attitude by the Service Rep. The line was ridiculous and there was not a manager to be found. I would have elected to use another rental car company if I had not locked in to a prepaid insurance agreement. DO NOT PREPAY FOR GAS!! I put down a deposit to prepay for my gas and they took the whole amount, even though the tank was over half full when I returned it. When I asked about it, I was told they always keep the full amount. Had I know this I would never have prepaid. I figured they would reimburse any unused portion. Edit- I have reached out to them and haven't received any reply other than the person I was speaking with before I left this review, stating they don't reimburse ever. WOW. 1 star is not enough for Fox Rental Car at the Chicago O'Hare airport. If I could give MINUS 6 stars, I would click it compulsively until everyone has been warned to save their time and money! They really get you with those cheap hotline prices...but trust me you'll be paying double in your wasted time, experience, hidden fees (a daily charge for early OR late return so you better have solid plans!). I don't know where they hire the people in this rental agency. They must be trying really hard to hire the rudest least helpful people ever because I have never seen an agency where ALL their employees are that way. I gave it 3 shots mostly because of favorable hotline pricing hoping that the first time it was bad because it was late at night and big line of people, the second time I wanted to believe it was just my bad luck to get an agent who was rude and not helpful. The third time I ran out of excuses. I ended up bringing the car back because it was a 2019 Toyota with 23k miles and the service engine light was on. I got to the counter at 8:00am on 12/11 and there was no one there. Another guy was waiting to pick up a rental and we both were confused that there was no one working. If you needed to return a car and catch a flight...GOOD LUCK! A girl came in at 8:15am. I explained to her the car requires service because it's been clearly driven a lot for a 2019 car and the service car alert is on and I'd like to exchange it for another car. She said she can't change the car unless there is mechanical issues. What??? So the car needing service is not a potential mechanical issue and I should wait till the car stops working??? I told her I rented the car for 3 weeks and who knows how long the service alert has been on. She refused to exchange it. I was mind blown. I felt as if I had bought a lemon car that I was stuck with and couldn't return! I told her I'm renting the car and I should be able to exchange it. She said she doesn't have the same class car. I got online and I tried to make a reservation for the same class car and sure enough I was able to get the same class. Her response? "Yea not sure if we have a car of the same class". Not sure or you don't have it?? She claimed she can't check in the system because she doesn't have access to the cars they have in the overflow lot so I have to wait for the overflow lot people to come back. After waiting for 25 minutes (till 8:50am!!) I go back to the counter to ask her how much longer till they come, she somehow was able to call them and they would bring a car of the same class but they have to turn it on first which will take at least 15 minutes and another 10-15 minutes to bring the car in. After waiting already for 1 hour uselessly, I realized she would just waste another hour of my day with her lies and dragging out bringing another car out. So I left. And I'm stuck driving a car that needs service for the next few weeks. I wonder how much longer this Toyota lasts since they clearly do not have an interest in servicing it. You would think that they at least would want to service and take care of their own company assets, but it seems that the poor service extends beyond their customers. I frankly thought I was doing them a service by driving back to the airport to bring a car that needs servicing. I guess the intelligent business minded agents they have hired did not think so. So in summary, they must have some hiring criteria where you have to demonstrate a total lack of common sense and a strong skillset in grade A incompetence. And they totally nailed it with their current employee roster at that kiosk because you have to try really hard to be that useless...it cannot possibly come naturally. read more

I'm truly upset with this company my credit was charge in error. I did speak with a live chat rep regarding this situation however, the rep stating that my card was not charged. I never went to Chicago, I never in my life rented a car from FOX car rental. You have place a hold on my credit card of $150.00 and charge for a car rental fee in the amt of $66.53 something like that. That date in question is 09/12/20, I have also tried to start a live chat again no one answers. I waited in line for 40 minutes just to check in because only one of the three agents was working. Once I got to the desk, they didn't have my car ready and couldn't get ahold of anyone to check. So I stood there for another 20 minutes while they all ran around trying to find someone who knew if there was a car for me.
