I was in town for a couple days and stayed at a hotel in the vicinity. Starved at this point, my friend and I roamed around the neighborhood and came across this restaurant. Service The service was OK. I truly think the staff tried to be as friendly as possible during our visit. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite empty, so we were able to be seated right away. Staff checked on us periodically. However, when we did need them, we had to flag them down like calling SOS from a deserted island. All jokes aside, they definitely could have been more attentive during our visit. Food & Drinks The food quality was decent. The complementary bread was a bit too rough and dry for my taste. The chicken with with roasted potatoes were good texture and consistency. The drinks were watered down, but they still held flavor. Inside & Outside The restaurant is tucked away in a quiter neighborhood a block from the hustle and bustle of busy Chicago. I love the location; subtle, yet charming. Inside, the ambience is modern chic. The vibe is suitable for a romantic date, group dining, and a business meeting. You can essentially dine here for any occasion. Exquisite service like a fine-dining establishment, service was prompt and attentive (keep an eye out for Veronica, Santiago, Ben and the manager aka "Mr worldwide" Constantin). I've been here many times with my family and every time the food is great. I came in tonight and was in not the best of moods and kind of uninterested in much of the menu. This all changed when the food arrived. I ended up getting the Agnolotti Ai Spinaci which was super fantastic(pictured below). I also had some of the carpaccio, mussels, and pugliese which were all really really good. We ate dinner pretty late with the restaurant closing the kitchen to hot food right before we were finished but it was still packed. And for a reason. Went for lunch on Saturday afternoon, only 3 tables occupied at peak time should have been the first clue. I ordered the Pollo Sassi and it was so salty and the artichokes in the dish were the woody parts which were not edible. I ate 3 bites and left the rest. Service was slow despite only 4 tables being occupied. The acoustics are terrible as well, it was so loud that I can't even imagine going there if they had a crowd. Sorry I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Much better options in the neighborhood. read more

this was the most amazing italian food ever. i thought i had authentic italian food prior to coming here but i was wrong. this is genuinely the best italian food ive ever had in my entire life and i don't think i will ever have better italian food than this. the service was amazing. they came out with the food so fast and they were so nice. the ambience was amazing; it truly made me feel like i was in florence, italy. just so amazing and i am definitely coming back. i had this after drinking a buttload of caffeine and it saved me from a caffeine crash out. i'd like to thank whoever opened this restaurant and i hope they are living the best life ever and will live an amazing afterlife as well. read more

This restaurant was almost empty at lunchtime on a weekday... which should have been a clue, since every good restaurant in streeterville is always packed for lunch. I ordered the risotto, which is usually a safe choice at random Italian restaurants. Here, however, it came out soggy/gooey and for some bizarre reason with a red sauce. It reminded me of nothing more than sausage Spaghetti0s that had been left out on the counter for a few hours. Disgusting---I'd rather be at Olive Garden. The worst part of all, however, has to be the gigantic cockroach that appeared on the wall right behind me when the "food" was served. I'm about to call 311 to let the health department know about this, but thought I'd warn yelp first. Run away. read more

Was in Chicago on a mini vacation and ate here the last night. It's in a great part of the city and walking distance from the hotel. So glad we went here... It was a Sunday night, around 6:30. The place was PACKED. We got a table pretty quickly and were delivered bread within a minute of sitting down. The waitress then came over for a drink order. We received our drinks quickly and were given ample time to peruse the menu. It's not complicated or insanely big, but very thought out and somewhat diverse. 2 of us ordered pasta (spaghetti con mozzarella and paccheri alla vodka e slasiccia). Good god, both were outstanding! Pasta was perfectly cooked, not too much or too little sauce, spiced just right! Waitress was on her game that night, my iced tea and water never went dry. GREAT. Ambiance was A+++, food was A+++, staff was A+++. Just a great experience and a great night. I wish we had Italian restaurants like this back home! read more

The restaurant week lunch menu was great! The bruchetta was perfectly balanced with all of the textures, but the lobster bisque was too salty. It had the potential to be the best lobster bisque I've had if it had less salt in it. The shrimp pasta was great with the sauce with lemon juice in it. The chicken with zucchini squash sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese was also good but a little salty. read more

Not really sure why there's always a crowd here. We got the fettuccine all'arlecchino (seafood pasta) which was ok. Good amount of seafood but some of the noodles were stuck together as if they weren't freshly cooked. The gnocchi was just bad. We only ate half of it just to eat it. The gnocchi is flour-based and was kind of gummy and the sauce tasted like tomato sauce out of a can even though the menu said it was a pesto dish. None of the vegetables or goat cheese could save the dish because they weren't that good themselves either. The sangria bianca tasted like watered down sangria. Had a wonderful dinner at Francesca's on Chestnut. We've been patronizing the Francesca's restaurants for 30 years - particularly in Barrington and Dundee. Their Chestnut iteration does not disappoint. The service was excellent - attentive, without being pushy. The Bruschetta alla Romana was a great starter. The Chicken Fransesce was flavorful, and Peccheri alla vodka sauce was also a hit. The drinks were excellent. Love Francesca's on Chestnut! The restaurant has a great location, right behind the John Hancock Center on Chestnut/Mies van der Rohe, and offers a great selection of Italian American cuisine. I ordered the pollo arrosto alla romana, and the chicken was perfect. Nothing was overcooked, and the juicy chicken was nicely complemented by an intensely flavorful garlic lemon rosemary sauce. The roasted potatoes accompanying the dish were also very crispy and matched well with the chicken. Can't wait to return to try some more dishes on the menu! read more

Beautiful atmosphere in the restaurant but the food sucked. Our server was great but the "director of first impressions" hostess was not inviting at all and seemed to be annoyed at us not having a reservation despite the restaurant being pretty empty. No great options for kids/teens. They did make a simple pasta with red sauce for our kid but it lacked any flavor and was not eaten. I ordered the Ravioli di Pomodori Secchi which I was excited about as I love pasta and goat cheese. It was meh at best with no real flavors popping out not even from the goat cheese. My boyfriend got the chicken and he did enjoy that but it was this huge serving that was visually unappealing. I should have stopped there but I absolutely love gelato and figured that can't be messed up, right? WRONG! It was ok in flavor but had crystals on it like it had been freezer burned. We came for our two year anniversary and I was super excited to try this place out. Overall food 9/10. We loved the calamari appetizer, so fresh and with the lemon and the sauce it just goes perfectly. For my entree, the seafood pasta was strong on the seafood taste but it was still very fresh and delicious, I added a lot of cheese which made it taste so much better. The drinks 10/10, loved the red sangria, I could be good just drinking this all night and for dessert we had the gelato scoops 10/10 which we loved, I got the pistachio and it was so delicious, not too sweet with perfect nutty and cream consistency. Why I ranked 4/5 is because when we got there there was a party inside and we only had option to sit outside, it was too hot for us and we wish they would of told us this upon the reservation. Plus our server, he forgot I asked for cheese and someone else had to help our table, he didn't really ask if we needed anything like we should have been asked, our glass of water was empty for way too long, for desert he took too long to bring us the menu and for the check he gave us the wrong table by accident. I give him the benefit of the doubt that it was because it was late night reservation at 9 and he looked tired but still, we deserve equal good service. We will come again earlier and see if the service is better, the good quality food and drinks make up for our fiture return. read more

A friend and I stopped by Francesca's On Chestnut for Happy Hour al fresco. It was a gorgeous afternoon just off the Magnificent Mile. The Happy Hour offerings are diverse and are at a great price point. The discounted wine is quite tasty. The meatballs have the best sauce that tastes like Nonna's old world recipe. Yes please! We also had a pizza that was so good we ate the whole thing. We finished our meal with a scoop each of pistachio gelato and blackberry sorbet. I felt like the service wasn't spot on but nothing a little polishing couldn't fix. It seemed a bit hit or miss but wasn't bad enough to ruin our experience. Overall it was ok . A solid 4.5 stars to this place! Amazing food and atmosphere! Had the burratta salad, pasta with veal, white fish, and cheesecake. The Italian names for these are on the menu but you'll find descriptions in above. The burratta Salad was fresh with pistachios and Brussel sprouts cooked to perfection. The pasta was delicious dripped in one of the most amazing marinas I've had with veal cooked to perfection. The best was the whitefish. The white wine sauce it came in was mouthwatering. And lastly, one of the softest and best cheesecakes I've had. You have to order that! I will definitely go here again or get Togo. This will be one of my top go to restaurants soon!
