Good food, but never answer their phone. From working in a restaurant, it is quite foolish to not answer your phone especially for a to go order. So far from my family it has cost them roughly 140 dollars in gross revenue and the server a quick and easy tip. From reading other reviews, I am certain this business model has costed Francisco several hundreds of dollars if not possibly a few thousand. The other Mexican food restaurants in town answer their phone and as result are now getting business that could of gone here. Would I eater here again? We this place, especially the margaritas! Cannot go wrong with the Cadillac margarita (with Patron, Casamigos, etc). On the rocks of course! This location is way different from Carson City. Typical American-Mexican food, fajitas are fantastic but the carne asada & carnitas are a huge step above typical Mexican restaurants. This is breaking my heart. We were so happy to come down the hill from Tahoe and find some tasty Mexican food in Minden. This has been our go-to place.... until tonight. Don't get me wrong- the food and service were just as great as they've always been. But as we were leaving, I stopped in the ladies room. Before I begin keep in mind this was a party of 6 people. We were bypassed by the waitresses many times before our order was taken. Chips and Salsa were decent and they came with beans. The margarita that was ordered was requested WITHOUT salt and was brought with salt. All of the food modifications were bypassed. For example a burrito was asked for with no rice or tomatoes, and it came with rice and tomatoes. Another thing is that the enchiladas did not come with tomatoes on top in previous meals but, they did this time causing us to have to ask them to remake them as someone in our party is allergic to raw tomato. The chicken in my burrito was a mix of light and dark meat and the light meat was dry. The red sauce also tasted like a marinara sauce with pepper in it. Otherwise everyone was decently satisfied with their meals and it was made and brought to us in a timely manner. We spent more time waiting to order over anything else. I was pretty impressed. I ordered steak fajitas to go at dinner time on a Saturday night. My food came out fast, wrapped in tinfoil on a plate. I like this a lot better than the styrofoam box! It was perfectly seasoned, meat was good quality. Im not supposed to eat rice, but the little that I got was good. It was also a large enough meal to eat leftovers for lunch! Almost every time I call to order takeout the phone is not answered. When I do get through (which is typically after the 8th or 9th call) the person taking the order is rude and the order has been wrong multiple times. (I usually discover this after I get home). We have learned we need to unwrap each plate prior to leaving. The last time I picked up an order I mentioned to the cashier that they may want to check their phone system. The manager behind the bar came over and gave me a rude verbal lashing stating that they attended their seated customers as a priority before picking up the phone. I politely responded I understand that however they are losing takeout business with that practice. I also mentioned that during covid restrictions when takeout was the only option, we customers kept them above water and in business. That did not seem to matter and he walked away. I always feel guilty for giving a low review but for me the food missed the mark. I got a lunch special chicken enchilada and beef taco of course coming with rice and beans. The chicken had no flavor. It was cooked properly but it was like they put chicken in a tortilla shell not even adding salt and pepper or any seasoning. Just a plain old pale chicken. The beef taco had slightly more flavor but also very bland tasting. The beans and rice were about average. Refried beans should taste like raw fat, that's the whole point of it. My son-in-law and I had a surprise birthday party for my daughter at Francisco's in their Banquet Room on a Saturday night. The room is great for a crowd. We had almost 50! Francisco and all the help were super about helping us make sure the party was a SURPRISE! They helped us with last minute decorating and seemed like family! Our dinner was buffet style and we received nothing but rave reviews. Everything was perfect from food to service to the bill. We can't say enough about this Family Mexican Restaurant ... We are moving to Minden, NV and with the last 3 visits while our home is being built, we've eaten here at Francisco's and it has never disappointed us. They promptly seat us, give us a moment to settle in and peruse the menu, then take our order. The chips and salsa are quickly brought to our table and drinks are ordered. By the time we get halfway they the chips our sizzling hot dinner is served. Fantastic service and delicious food. I live in Gardnerville and had a taste for some Mexican food I had never been to Francisco's so I decided to give them a try. I was in a bit of a hurry so I decided to do take out and eat at home. When I pulled in the parking lot the place was packed and it was only 11;30 am so my first thought was okay its a popular place. Upon walking in I noticed it was very clean and the waiters and waitresses were very neatly dressed. I placed my order and within 10 min I had my to go packaged up. When I got home I noticed it was packaged very nicely with foil and a top to prevent spills which I thought was very good. I ordered a combo plate with chili relleno and shredded beef enchilada. I must say that this was the best Mexican food I have had in this area. The enchiladas were made perfect and the shredded beef was delicious, the chili relleno was prepared perfect with just the right amount of cheese. The beans had such a nice flavor and the rice was cooked perfectly. I will def be going back and bringing my family. It is great to have such a wonderful Mexican restaurant right in our town. read more

We came on Cinco De Mayo. Great atmosphere, good service. They started with chips and both red green salsa and a plate of refried beans. Since it was Cinco De Mayo we ordered the special Margarita. They make a great margarita. We were in for lunch. They have a big menu. We had combinations that included enchilada's, taco's, and chili relleno's between the two of us. For the real food test we will come back for dinner. What we had for lunch was good. Overall we are happy to have found a local Mexican restaurant that we will returnt too. We have dined here a lot, mainly for lunch. Yesterday/Sunday, after the snow stopped, we wanted to eat before going shopping. Made a bad decision coming here, trying to support the local business. Seated quickly, chips/salsa arrived fast, then, all downhill from there. Aida, our waitress, gave the impression we were a nuisance instead of valued customers. We only wanted water to drink, and after looking over the menu, decided on a couple of lunch specials (ok, it was Sunday, so our mistake for not reading the print on them). Instead of giving us a few more minutes to decide on something else, Aida just took our original order and left. Food arrived quickly, yet we felt they were slammed on the table in a huff, and not as hot as before, with no warning on hot plates (though they weren't hot to begin with). Another month, another visit with the parents and another gem of a town in Nevada. We were jonesing for some good eats and a bit of an adventure outside of the lovely metropolis that is Fernley! Just a short drive down Alt 95 to the Loneliest Highway in America (US 50) and down 395 to the quaint town of Minden is where you'll find Francisco's nestled in a cute downtown portion. We walk in and are instantly greeted by a couple of the staff then make our way to the back dining area that they were seating that day. The room had some high windows and of course some decorations on the wall. We sat at one of their booths and waited for the waitress to take our order. I instantly knew what I wanted in the form of a chimichanga with rice and beans while the parents noshed on enchiladas I think. The food was fresh and good unlike some other outfits I've been to. I was reminded several times from my eager mother how much she loves this place and it's easy to see why. Wouldn't mind a return visit soon! read more

I went in here for the first time last night, it had been the wife's 2nd or 3rd, and we were seated promptly. We both were brought water right away and the waitress asked us if we were ready. The wife and I decided to try Franciscos from the Yelp reviews. Not so great for us. I asked the waitress if the shredded beef tacos were at all spicy and she said no, not at all. I ordered 2 Tacos, hard shell, with shredded beef, no beans. I received 2 shredded beef tacos, the shells were exactly like the precooked, preformed type purchased in the grocery store. The shredded beef was so spicy it was inedible. My plate did contain beans. Needless to say Taco Bell would have been better and I hate Taco Bell. My wife ordered the cheese enchilada, we also asked if any part of it was spicy and we were told no, not at all spicy. The enchilada my wife received was drowning in red sauce, greasy cheese and was very spicy. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is for the guacamole that we ordered, it was fresh, nicely seasoned, slightly chunky with wonderful flavor. We are going out with friends tonight to the Franciscos in Carson and I sure hope the meal is as great as people say. read more

Don't know who did the taste testing but they need help and a little bit of knowledge of what REAL mexican food should taste like. 1. they didn't serve Carnitas for lunch, so what is the difference lunch or dinner. 2 I ordered the lunch Chimichanga. It was soft, soggy tortilla and the shredded beef was horrible. No flavor but it seemed to be mixed with refried or mashed beans. I guess to make it go a long way but I have never had a Chimichanga like that. Oh how I wish some one would open an authentic, not Americanized Mexican Restaurant here in the Carson Valley. Wow, where do I start, Francesco's in my opinion is the best Mexican food in Gardnerville and Minden area. With quality food and outstanding service. We have been eating here consistently for over 6 years. We are always greeted with a smile and the best customer service. Try the Mexican Burritto or Macho Steak Burrito they are OUTSTaNDING !!! My personal favorite is the Mach Burritto. It is Fajata steak meat with beans, rice peppers and onions all rolled into one large great Burritto. It's basically a fajita Burritto YUM !!! read more
