We split the Spicy Basil Fried Rice w Shrimp and Pad See Ew w Beef which were both executed so well. The ingredients were clean, balanced, and full of flavor. They give a generous portion of shrimp & vegetables in the Spicy Basil Fried Rice which I loved and it didn't taste too greasy. The Pad See Ew was a bit too sweet rather than smoky compared to others I've had but it was still great and the beef was super tender. Oy! It was hotter than the hinges in hell when Jamie W and I were strolling in the West Village that we couldn't even think about having anything to eat for lunch. However, we could envision having something cold to drink, and this Thai spot on Sullivan had quite a tiki mocktail selection. We decided to step in and try a pair to quench our parched lips. This is a halal place so going on the last day of Ramadan around fast breaking time meant the place was packed! Lots of people also came to do pick ups while we waiting. That Red Snapper with green papaya salad, tomato, peanut and long bean in spicy lime dressing was phenomenal! Huge dish to share family style. Incredible flavor in each bite. The coolest part is how they cook and display the fish - the fish meat is removed from bone and cooked in chunks so you don't have to worry about accidentally chewing bones in your mouth. Loved it! Tucked away in the busy streets in Greenwich village, I stumbled upon Top Thai. It's a cozy and small space but gets filled up pretty quickly. Despite how busy this restaurant was, the service was great. We ordered the large Thai milk tea - very tasty. If you're debating whether to get the regular or the large, just get the large! (Trust me!) They also have a really delicious sounding drink menu for a reasonable price so I definitely have to come back for some cocktails next time. We ordered the duck udon curry. It was spicy but also rich and creamy. The duck was boneless and perfectly crispy. I love how the udon absorbed all that fabulous sauce. The pineapple fried rice was delicious as well. While they were very presentable, there was literally no alcohol in it. We even told the waiter and he simply said that he'll tell the bartender. We ended up having to pay for the drinks that tasted weird with no alcohol. Bright side is that they were only $9 each. I guess you get what you pay for. The food was really good. We ordered: Basil odum- 5/5. Very large portion that's good to feed two people. The flavors just kept exploding in my mouth. It was so good. Shrimp, chicken, and veggie dumplings- 5/5. The shrimp dumplings were sooo good. So warm and tasty. Highly recommend to split with a friend. Chicken spring roll- 5/5.SO GOOD. The dipping sauce was what made it.
