Very nice bistro with an Italy feel. Food was delicious. Nice selection off the menu. The arincini balls were very good. We ordered a salad and a pizza for the main course. The salad was plentiful and the house balsamic was very good. The pizza is done in a hearth wood oven. We ordered the chicken sausage, gorgonzola, mozzarella and basil potato pizza. This place is Primo!! delicious Italian dining that is reasonably priced. I love the variety in this menu. My husband and I decided to cancel our "fancier" anniversary dinner reservations as it turned out to be a nice day and we wanted somewhere with outdoor accommodations. We found ourselves at Frankie Primos and were thrilled. the service was top notch, food and cocktails delicious. The rice balls and meat and cheese trays are a MUST for apps. I got steak added to my gnocchi dish and to my surprise it was one of the best steaks I've had in buffalo. Highly recommend this place for groups as it is a fun atmosphere or could be good for a nicer date night. We can't wait to go back. read more

My husband and I have been here a few times. Service is friendly. The Tortellini Bistecca was absolutely delicious and satisfying. They also have the best tiramisu I've eaten. I was disappointed in the Pappardelle slow braised pork when I was there recently, though. There wasn't much pork/sauce at all. I threw away the box I brought home as it was so underwhelming, just like dry noodles with a hint of meat here or there -I didn't want to bother hearing it up to eat. I don't know if it was a fluke/off day on 8/29/19 but I won't order this dish again. read more

Service was slow which would have been ok, were the food not so bad. I ordered pappardelle with roasted pork. A typical classic across the country. Clearly this cook has never had this dish in a good Italian restaurant. There were huge chunks of tasteless pork stirred into the noodles which weren't horrible. No liquid sauce, no shredded succulent pork seasoned with deliciousness. Not worth the cost. read more

New Italian restaurant open on Chippewa. Simple menu with delicious taste. Great apps/Salads/Pizzas/Pasta. We tried a variety of appetizers to include the must have chicken sausage w/ beans and greens. The wife enjoyed the goat cheese pizza with mushroom, asparagus, and a balsamic drizzle which was cooked to perfection. I had the chicken prosciutto panini that had a spicy garlic spinach, this was fantastic and the panini bread was very fresh and easy to bite into. Very happy with the overall experience here. Pricing is very reasonable as well. Overall a must to check out especially before you go to a show, game, or just going out to party!!! read more

My wife and I visited FP+39 this past weekend and we were blown away. We each had a salad to start which were both huge and excellent. We could have ate these salads for our main course. For an app we also shared the arancini and we both loved them. For our entrees I went with a special lobster bolognese and it may be one of the best dishes I have ever had. My with went with the arrabiata and while it was spicy , she loved it. The friendly and prompt service to go along with a cool ambiance we both top notch. Frankie Primos is my favorite Buffalo restaurant. The food is awesome, the service is phenomenal and it has the BEST patio in Buffalo. I love their shrimp scampi, piatto di salumi, salsiccia e peperoni, tortellini bistecca, and tagliatelle funghi. But have enjoyed their salads, pizza, sandwiches, and weekly specials too. They have delicious cocktails and two of my favs are their negroni and white cosmo. Highly recommend Frankie Primos for lunch or dinner. Have never tried brunch, but is on my list to try before the summer ends. read more

Excellent bar. I did not eat here (the antipasta "Platto di Salumi" looked outstanding) but the friendliness and selection of Italian wines was amazing. Jack the bartender is very friendly and will talk you through all the wines. I will definitely be visiting this place the next time I am in Buffalo. First time in the restaurant. Atmosphere was great. Nice bar, high top tables. The wait staff were very nice and efficient. Got a Caesar salad which was huge and very good, could have made a meal of that but got pasta too. Had the tagliatelle funghi which was delicious. I especially liked that you could order different sized portions. I got the half order (4 oz) and it was plenty. Also, it was there 1 year anniversary so we all got a free glass of prosecco! Sadly this missed the mark for me. We arrived at 6:30 (cocktails) with reservations for 7:00. We were seated at 6:58. Our food however did not arrive until 8:24. To their credit they did offer complimentary dessert but bringing our table some complimentary appetizers would have been a much better offer. By the time the food came all 7 of us were starved!! The food was ok. Service was not good, but I don't believe it was the servers fault - more the kitchen staff. The patio seating made for great atmosphere but the music was so loud talking to those around our table was difficult, if not impossible. read more

Excellent, fresh, home feeling Italian food. Mushroom pasta was so delicious, and the burrata salad to start with roasted and raw tomatoes too. Portions are large, in my opinion. But probably typical size expected by most Americans. I was hungry going in and basically was full after just the burrata salad. I mean that was a lot of (fresh) mozz. Thankfully I ordered just the 4 oz pasta portion which was plenty especially after the appetizer. My friend got the plain green salad and the dressing was delicious but it was overdressed. I'd get the dressing on the side if I went back. Friendly service, authentic Italian feel to the food. Chill, dark interior. Pleasant surprise for a Manhattaner in town for the bar exam. "Primo's" has filled a much needed gap in the Buffalo restaurant scene, offering traditional Italian dishes in an inviting, comfortable setting. The inside of the building, completely remodeled since its stint under the previous owner, provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere from any table, hightop, or barstool, in addition to perhaps the best patio in Buffalo. The menu offers a great selection of antipasti to begin, including Roman-style artichokes - Carciofi - which are phenomenal. Flexibility on pasta portion size make it perfect to sample a couple with the 4oz portion or feed the family on a Sunday night with a few family-style (16oz) dishes to share. The Cacio e Pepe pasta - spaghetti with black pepper and pecorino cheese - has become one of my favorite dishes in Buffalo. Worth checking out for a great meal at a reasonable price, while being treated like family by the friendly staff. All reasons I go back week after week since my first experience there. read more

Just got back from dinner there. Was very impressed by the patio seating and the food. We had called to reserve a table and requested to be seated outdoors but they do not take reservations for it . We get there and we were informed that there will be a wait for a table and we sat at the bar outside and they had four tables empty. Two tables were joined for a party if 8, ( that showed up 45 minutes after we came, so it was reserved for them) another table was given right away to 3 guys who the owner knew and we waited for 30 minutes for someone to leave while another table was kept empty but ready and no one showed up all night??? Food was good but half of the experience is based on service. Asked for a refill on my drink and was forgotten till I mentioned again. In the Wanting I asked the hostess if I could come the following Friday for a special birthday celebration but needed a confirmation for a large party on the patio . She took my name and said she would ask the manger and let me know. We had just started our meal and she never came back to me to tell me if they could. Not a good sign of a place that has good food bit no customer service . What a shame that they think that they would last in the business with this attitude. By the way they were not so crazy busy in a Saturday night. Got to have a major change in your attitude and be nice to every customer and not just to the ones you know. read more
