Amazing deal for mineral springs in a quaint, charming and rustic campground. We highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting a no thrills hot springs to relax and recharge. I'd be happy to return anytime we're in the area.

Customer service: I made a booking error, I called and was helped with no issues to fix it to the proper date. The person on the other end of the phone was beyond courteous and understanding, our booking was far enough out that it helped make it not an issue. While onsite we witnessed the employees dealing with minor inconveniences by guests and they were BEYOND patient, calm and understanding!! It was refreshing to see and deal with! Service used: We only did day use tickets. We were not over night guests of any kind. Restrooms: there are restrooms on site for use. They supply lots of seating and tables. We have gone on a regular day and basically have been like four to six other people present and seating wasn't an issue. Today we went on Memorial Day and it was PACKED! Atmosphere: it is definitely family friendly. Everyone that we have spoken to that are locals know and love the owners!! They have music playing, a bubble machine going, they had lots of pool noodles for use! Sadly, we witnessed some kiddos being destructive to the stuff supplied. This place is a hidden gem! We arrived at 07:30am and walked in to find clothes, pool noodles, bottles of water thrown all over. It is sad that most people can't and won't find a trash can! Clean up after yourselves, the owner shouldn't have to!! We thoroughly have enjoyed both our visits here!

Camping in a junkyard I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Franklin Hot Springs. The property looks nothing like the pictures on their website. When I arrived, I was shocked to find that the'campsites' consisted of nothing more than a post in the ground with a picnic table nearby, all set in an area that resembled a junkyard. The facilities were in terrible condition--the bathrooms, showers, and swimming pool were dirty and had an overwhelming mildew smell. I couldn't bring myself to use any of them. The overall atmosphere made me feel unsafe, and I didn't feel comfortable staying overnight in my van next to them. I ended up leaving immediately after taking some photos. I hope my$50 can at least go toward improving the cleanliness of the facilities, but I would not recommend this place to anyone

We love love loved the place! For all the people who said it was smelly or unsafe or a junkyard well maybe it's not for you but in our opinion it was very safe, the people were extremely friendly, and that includes the people that work there as well as their customers. It was absolutely wonderful. Yes you might call it funky but that was the charm of the place. It was perfectly clean in my opinion the water came out nice and hot and it was the most relaxing swim I've had in years. And not only is it that nice hot springs to sit in but also to swim in. It's out in the wild blue yonder on a farm type setting. You can't go wrong! $9 for a senior I'll be back. No it's not some fancy resort but you don't have to spend fancy resort money on it either. They could certainly charge more and they don't. Bless their hearts!

To me this place is 5 stars but I don't want to deceive my fellow helpers. It's not fancy, it's not a resort or somewhere anyone who's pretentious and snoody would go. It's a healing charging port and fun place for me and my friends and daughter who's under 5. I've gotten so much healing from the waters here. The location is perfect between Nor Cal and So Cal so I try to stop there when heading either way up the 101. The price Is great especially for camping overnight. The owners are kind, lovely people and always have been so nice to us. U will smell like sulfur after but your skin and hair and body will be so soft and happy and full of essential minerals we lack in getting in society's dead food we all eat. Lol Mud and hot springs lover forever!!!

Never knew this place was here till out neighborhood recommended we come camp here for the night. Loved it, absolutely loved it. The service was great, easy website to book. Beautiful spring , I recommend going in the early morning ( this is when the photos are taken between ( 7:30am thru 9 AM we had been at the pool on sat thru sun open no people) absolutely beautiful local hot springs. Highly recommend.

    I liked it here better

It was quite an experience. The vibes we chill. I didn't know what to expect. My friends who went were all freaking out about the water being kinda murky and the smell of rotten eggs which was from the sulfur which is normal at a hot spring. I enjoyed the experience. There was a lot of parking which was nice. Staff was friendly.

I'm half and half on this place. The place is extraordinary in both positive and negative aspects. First when we came, the place fully smells of sulfur and there are debris of algae or moss floating everywhere. We were afraid we would get water borned disease But we said whatever and went in the smaller tub which is hotter than the big pool. The big pool was cold though. None of the water was 100F even. They were 80-90F. What I really like is the people here. We talked to other people in the tub who came frequently and they were super friendly. When we first came in, they handed us mud and taught us how to put it and covered our face. The pool is extremely slippery and the algae covering the entire pool is so gross. One lady fell and scraped her foot, bleeding. Luckily I was careful and didn't fall We ended up staying for about 2 hours because we just enjoyed the people here and there was cute and very obedient dog. The toilets weren't bad. It has no smell and more clean that I imagined.

    An interesting experience

Ask the Community - Franklin Hot Springs

    Are the springs clothing optional?

    I believe clothing is required.

How deep is the water in the springs? Also do we need a fishing licence to fish here?

It's about 4 ft to 15 ft from one end to the other in the main pool. Other tubs are ~3 ft like regular hot tub depth. No fishing license is required.

Is this place open during 26-31 Dec 2018?

Yes, we will be open from 7am to 11pm.

Is this place clothing optional like most hot springs I've been to?

No, you need to wear bathing suits or clothing. The hotspring feeds a large public pool and small hot tub.

Is the swimming suit must required? Can I just wear a T-shirt and short pant instead?

A T-shirt and shorts are fine.

Does this place have any frogs for frog hunters?

Yes, we have lots of bull frogs and you welcome to come hunt them.

We booked the Sip & Soak experience, but there were a few aspects that didn't quite meet our expectations. We had to carry our own wine tasting tray out to the mineral soak area, which felt unusual for a spa experience. It would have been a nice touch if the staff had delivered it or offered assistance. Another surprise was that towels are not included. I've never been to a spa that didn't provide complimentary towel service - you either have to bring your own or rent one, which seemed like an unnecessary extra for guests. The wine tasting itself was enjoyable, but the pours were served in tiny plastic sampling cups, which made the experience feel less refined than expected. The view from our soaking area was also disappointing. Rather than looking out over lush vineyards, we were facing dried vines straight ahead, with construction equipment and machinery off to the left. The green vineyards were off to the right but weren't really the view from where we were soaking. Despite these shortcomings, the mineral soak itself was relaxing and the overall atmosphere was peaceful. With a few improvements, the experience could feel much more in line with the premium spa experience the setting suggests.

While the building is historic it's been recently renovated and the rooms are modern and well equipped. We chose a Garden King Room. It's a good-sized room with a fireplace and a nice balcony overlooking the beautiful courtyard. The bathroom is spacious with a walk-in shower and a large double vanity. There is a Nespresso type coffee maker in the room and a tea kettle. Also, a couple bottles of drinking water per day are provided. Connected to the hotel is the wonderful Cattlemen's Bar which is beautifully renovated and has a nice local wine list and makes creative cocktails. There's also a breakfast restaurant which I went to for take-out coffee (the coffee maker in the room made weak coffee). Also, a steakhouse which we did not visit but is also recently renovated and looks nice. Service at the hotel was professional and friendly. The instructions posted on the wall do not match the buttons on the remote. We ended up doing a web search for the unit's instruction manual. That's pretty sad. These things should be more intuitive. We liked having a fridge and microwave in the room. The downside to our room was that it was on the 2nd floor and we had to carry our things up the stairs since there was no elevator. Do ask for a ground floor if you want to avoid walking up stairs. I became more mindful of these details in recent years when husband suffered from shortness of breath and had a challenging time doing stairs. The property looks nice with several different buildings surrounding a center common grassy lawn area with curved walkways & mini bridge next to their herb garden and koi pond. There are little fish and some ginormous ones in their koi pond. There is also a pool at the rear of the property. It was easy to find parking near our room. The grounds look lovely from your room or from a distance. But we noticed dog poop on the grass when we wanted to walk over to one of the sofas in the grassy area. BE CAREFUL when walking on the grassy parts. People who bring pets here are not mindful about cleaning up after their pets. This is in stark contrast to our stay at Cambria Shores Inn during the previous days (a pet friendly hotel with lots of little dogs staying and no dog poop messes in the outdoor common areas). I guess the pet owners who stay at Cambria Shores Inn are more respectful than the ones who stay here at Paso Robles Inn. Another thing about the outdoor seating is that they look great from a distance, but their uncleanliness can be seen once you walk closer. They were dirty and there was even one set of sofas that had poop on them. It's as if the hotel staff does not go around and wipe the cushions down each day (which I have seen hotel staff do at other hotels and it truly makes a difference). It looks like a nice place to sit & relax outside, but doesn't really work out that way in practice. Hotel is conveniently located near shops & restaurants. The one challenge is crossing Spring St. which is way busier than I ever imagined it to be before booking a room here. LOL The downtown area is pleasant, and you don't need to drive anywhere unless you're visiting a nearby winery.

It's walking distance to the main part of downtown and there is a pizza and a Mexican restaurant across the street. My only real gripe is how hard they're pushing guests to buy their snacks and wine-- the room has not one but two pieces of furniture loaded with premixed cocktails, a bottle of wine, snacks, and bottled mineral water. They don't allow "outside food" in common areas, whose definition was never clear to me- does it include the patios in front of the rooms? So I felt like a criminal bringing in takeout for dinner, but there is no food onnthe premises other than various kinds of overpriced chips and cookies. They don't let you bring outside wine in common areas, either, which might have something to do with licensing or might just be trying to make you buy their wine. So we waited until it was dark and no one was around to enjoy our outside wine on the patio. But we didn't get in trouble so maybe it was ok. They're also really promoting their bath products, for sale in their little gift shop, along with membership in their hotel chain for "rewards." The website says pet friendly and indeed, dogs are allowed in all rooms-- $50 each is a little steep for pet charge though. The website says there's something for pets in the room but there was none in our room, even though we booked in advance. I don't really care that much but if they say it, they should do it. There were also some rich women guests who looked at me like I was a homeless person or space alien, but other guests I met in the breakfast room were normal and friendly. But basically, it's a hotel oriented toward well-off "classy" wine tourists, and if you're not one of those, you might feel a little awkward here. (I did.) But it's a lovely, comfortable little room with charming grounds, probably nice for a romantic getaway without your dogs.

I've stayed at the Courthouse Marriott before, where they offer free coffee and breakfast, and in hindsight, I wish I had stayed there again. Unfortunately, I don't see myself returning here.
