This one of a kind restaurant is an absolute must-try if you are in the Spokane area! The train car is beautiful on the outside, and just as eye-catching on the inside with antique finishes. The setting is fairly intimate, with tables close to one another, however it feels very homey and welcoming. The service was excellent, as our waitress made sure we were well taken care of during our visit, refilling drinks and asking if we needed anything throughout. The food is just as great as the service, with a menu full of amazing dishes. My personal favorite of the visit was the fried green tomatoes! You can also add onions and gravy to any dish for free. We walked in today, three of us, and we were never greeted. We are a mixed race couple and had our grown daughter with us. We sat there for about 15 minutes, and a gentleman came in and was immediately greeted and put on a list. Finally, we said something. I haven't experienced much racism since I have lived in Spokane, but there couldn't have been another reason. We were the only people in the seating area, so she had to have seen us. She greeted every single last person besides us. What an extremely crappy feeling. Even after we said something, there was this "chill" in the air. I have heard about it and was excited to try it. When I arrived, they sat me down at the bar and gave me a cup of water. I quickly decided what I wanted to order and waited. And waited and waited and then waited more. In 15 minutes no one bothered to stop and take an order, ask any questions or even glance. There seemed to be some at the bar who were being helped and some that were not. Not quite sure why the poor service, but didn't have time to wait around. Came here for breakfast after attending a concert at the Spokane Arena the night before. A good friend recommended it, and I am soooo glad she did. When you walk in, you find yourself transported back several decades to a train dining car that feels inviting and luxurious. We were greeted immediately to a table with lots of leg room and comfortable bench seats. Our server was Leslie and she was very attentive considering the place was packed. The coffee was warm and tasted great on a cold rainy day. I had the Pecan Smoked Boar Bacon Benedict with a side of hash browns topped with cooked onions. I really like the bacon, the hollandaise sauce is made in house, and the hash browns were perfectly done - crispy on the top and bottom but a little soft and tender on the inside. My other half had the Corned Beef Hash. It's probably one of the best he's ever had - true slices of corned beef cooked perfectly. And they serve the thick cut Franz Wheat Toast with a specially made Strawberry Freezer Jam. This is on our list of returns diners when staying in Spokane read more

I had the elf steak and loved it, my friend had eggs Benedict which she enjoyed too. Only complaint is it's popular and the wait for a table is a bit of a wait, guess that's good for them. Located in an old train, the space has opened up to a dining space, with a breakfast counter. Every spot is a great spot, whether you're sitting at the breakfast counter, getting the best view of how your hashbrowns are being cooked or towards the back of the train where the booths are, which pretty much look like you're riding in a train, your experience here will be a good one. My bestie and I came here for brunch on a Friday and there was a line, as we expected there to be. Frank's Diner also knows there's a line outside the door, as they've set up an adjacent gazebo, which is heated and covered AND offers complimentary coffee and water for those waiting. Customer service is top-notch here. Half an hour later we sat at the breakfast counter. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with a biscuit and everything was awesome! You can also order a side of gravy (and onions) for free, so of course I was on that gravy train and had put some on my hashbrowns! More breakfast spots should offer free gravy! The chicken fried steak was tender and was such a huge hunk of it that I only ate half. But it was very good. Poached eggs were spot on. And the hashbrowns are not to be missed. They were shredded and stacked up, with crispy edges. I also advise getting a side of the biscuit, as they grill the biscuit on the griddle. It was soft and buttery from the griddle top. No matter how full you are, you have room for these! Perfect, just perfect. Panko crusted and topped with a generous piece of bacon. It's also one of the best deviled egg fillings I've ever had. We got the Chicken Fried Steak and Corn Beef Hash (made in house) entrees. Make sure to get the gravy and onions on your hash browns. Game changer. Also make sure to get the biscuit instead of toast. The jelly and biscuit left happy little markers on my memory of this meal. Theses sides were so good, it almost took away from my main course. The corn beef was spot on. Tasty, salty and authentic. The fried steak was also crispy, fresh and greasy good. Not greasy bad! Good hearty portions. We both only ate half of our meals but look forward to the other half for dinner tonight. This place is just awesome. My wife and her family discovered it for themselves during a jaunt to the Spokane airport this past summer and it has become a staple for when family comes to visit. As its website will readily attest, the diner is set up inside of a bonafide, converted railroad car. In our most recent visit, we came during the lull between lunch and dinner crowds. Though we initially opted for immediate seating at the bar, our attentive host spied a table that would soon be vacated and helped us get everyone situated there in. Being as it's a railroad car--and a very old one, at that--seating within the actual car can be a bit cramped, the seats very rigid and vertical for one of my usual slouched, ADHD posture. Nonetheless, the menu selections are a smorgasbord of an adulterated deliciousness. Breakfast is celebrated and observed here all the live long day, but for weirdos like me who will always order the cheeseburger, even if it's 8am, they've got a whole lotta that, too. My son is very particular about his pancakes, and while they did not have a chocolate syrup option on the menu, they were kind enough to accommodate with Hershey's syrup from their dessert station. Everything was very tasty, and delivered to our table very quickly. Prices were right in line with what you would expect for a place like this, but we fed three adults and a child, with tip, for well under $100. We will be back, for sure. read more

The server handled us like is was an easy two top. Food was delicious, seasoned well, hot and had a decent portion size. They easily accommodated a specific dietary request without blinking an eye. We needed to be in and out in a relatively short amount of time which they achieved on a pretty busy holiday morning. They have an extensive menu with selections for any mood/taste.
