This is Chicago food at it's best, I have been going here for over 28 years, and their food is to die for, everything I have has has been awesome, burgers, gyros, hot dogs, beefs, sausages, ....I could go on and on. My family came here from Ohio looking for the best of the best Chicago food, and one of the places I took them was here. I have been honestly trying to eat healthier over the last few months. I have been limiting my greasy food intake to the weekends. I have been eating a few more salads and less Red meat. But after a hard day at work, I really needed some good Old fashioned, comfort food. I pass Franksville literally every day on the way home from work, so I stopped in for some Greasy Goodness. Franksville brings back a lot of memories. My father used to take me there after we would watch the Cubs lose, which was most of the time back in the 70's. The original location was located on Addison, just west of Clark. It's now part of the McDonald's parking lot. What amazes me most about Franksville is that the food tastes exactly the same as it did when I was a kid. It takes me back to the day's when my father and I would bring home a sack of Hot dogs for the family after another miserable Cubs loss. And if I was especially good and didn't yell any obscenities at Bobby Murcer after he struck out with the Bases loaded, he would let me splurge and get Cheese Fries. I know that I'm not a kid anymore, I'm just a middle aged, chubby man with a bad case of Acid Reflux, but it feels good to remember those care free days again. The day's where nothing else mattered except Bill Buckner's Batting Average. The Hot dog and Cheese fries took me back to those days, if only for a little while. The bottom line is this. If you have a hankering for some Greasetastic food, at a decent price, give Franksville a try. And if you grew up near Wrigley Field in the 70's, the Ass Bomb food might bring back a few memories for you as well. read more

The Guy with the dead arm is the dirtiest most disgusting person ive seen in my 42 years on this earth! I pulled to the drive thru window to get my order and this Guy almost half a finger dug in his nose, then proceded to take my cheese fries with that hand and stuff them into the package. It's cool. Not much to talk about really but it's a fast food place so I wasn't expecting a waiter in white gloves or anything like that. I ordered the chicken pita and it was great! Make sure to have plenty of mints on hand in case you decide to go with the onions on the pita. Pretty quick service, staff wasn't outstanding but they weren't rude and unbearable. Many friends of mine love their Grecian chicken special but to me, Franksville misses it big time. Not that their chicken is bad, its just that everything else is so standard and boring. Did I mention overpriced? Where do these rinky dink hot dog joints come off thinking they can charge you top dollar for a less than perfect meal? Hell, I didn't realize I needed to stop at the bank to roll out the wad to pay for lunch. I paid for myself and 4 buddies. After the total was figured, I almost fell on the floor. I look at the guy and said "Are you sure? I didn't order the caviar. I ordered two dogs, a burger, a combo and 4 Cokes. Never again. This is a very chilled place I recommend going inside to order as it seems to be quicker than going through the drive thru unless of course it is past 10 o'clock drive thru is open till 1 am which is a plus the hamburger with grilled onion is really good hot dogs are so so I would recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

I've been coming here for years on and off. My Aunt loves the grilled cheese, so I have been coming more often. The food is always good. And the prices are decent. My only complaint is that when I go through the drive thru, the guy always rushes me. Before I can even finish saying "chicken sandwich" he is asking "anything else?" It's rather frustrating and makes me feel embarrassed when I order more food (that is for a family meal). read more

Gave this place a try since Mario's down the street was closed due to vacation. Bit pricey but gave it a try anyway because I refuse to eat Mcdonald's. Service was good but thats all. The bread for the hot dog was hard. The fries were hard and stale with no taste what so ever. Had a chicken pita as well, that was very small and the sauce was runny. Sodas were flat. The food isn't bad, it's just average. I like that they have Mr. Pib. The biggest problem with this place is price. In a neighborhood flooded with options for this type of food, you get small portions for a premium price. That would be fine if the food was spectacular, it is not. read more

Just had the Chicago style Hot Dog and the cheeseburger. The cheeseburger wS mouth watering good. I highly recommend it.

We were looking for a gyros and wanted to try something different so my husband suggested Franksville. He hadn't been here for many years but from my what he remembered it was good. He ordered a gyros plate and I ordered a chicken kabob sandwich. The food was very disappointing. My husband thought the gyros was greasy and the chicken kabob had a weird seasoning. We also didn't like the tzatziki which I think was made with sour cream as opposed to greek yogurt. The service wasn't great either which I wouldn't care about if the food was good. Franksville is usual neighborhood hot dog place. Everything is good. Hands down place to order a Greek Salad. Always fresh, never wilted with dressing on the side. You would think it would be a given if you ordered a take out salad that the dressing would be on the side, but it really isn't. I can't say I'd travel from the south side just for Franksville, but if you are in the neighborhood, stop by. read more

I've been looking for a new spot to grab a hotdog or grilled chicken sandwich so as I past this place daily, I got to recently stop by. I had such high hopes and was sadly disappointed. I ordered the grilled chicken breast on a pita and my son had a hot dog with fries. The fries were OK, the chicken and hot dog weren't good. The chicken had a reddish seasoning on it that I didn't like. My son complained that the hot dog he ordered wasn't good and he refused to finish eating it. The first time I went to Franksville was way back in the 80's. That first experience gave me the WORST case of the craps. After that, I never went back. Now fast forward to 2016. After seeing a episode of Chicago's Best: The Best Of Harlem Avenue, featuring Franksville's foot long hot dog, I thought I'd give them another try after all these years. Well, the hot dog wasn't bad. Ok, but not bad. The hot dog didn't have any kind of kick, bite, or snap to it in terms of taste, compared to the dogs at say Buona Beef, which nobody has yet to top. The fries were great. At least this time going to Franksville I didn't get a case of the craps, which was good. The only down side was the food was a bit pricey. read more

Been going to Franksville for years and for a neighborhood fast food joint it definately hits the spot! I generally get the grilled chicken salad with greek dressing for dinner on my workout days but other notably good items they have is the Chicken pita, Cheeseburgers and the cheese fries! The gyros dinner isnt too bad either. The food here just doesn't seem as greasy as most typical fast food places. The food here is good, not amazing - but for a hot dog place I can't complain. You would think with the huge sign that's outside that the food would be delectable, but sadly it is easier described as average. Franksville will always be one of my favorite places for fast food. The cheese fries, no matter how disgusting they look, for whatever reason, I LOVE 'EM! Order them every time. Have to agree with Nick!! The SUPER TACO is the best! I get an extra pita and have two tacos out of it. They give you so much meat and cheese that you can get two nice size tacos out of it. Obviously my review won't be positive so I'll start out with saying that I live down the street and was hoping I had a gem in my neighborhood. I was very much wrong as a first timer. My order was a hot dog with everything on it and a side of cheese fries. It feels like they stinged out on the cheese and condiments. It was more like cheese glazed fries with a hot dog with a little of everything on it. I'd be more understanding if the place was busy, but from what I saw was an empty parking lot and two people in the drive through including me. The man that served me was rude, but who ever greeted me in the drive through was great- I wish he handed my food. He was the best part of the experience, really. I'm sure this place would be good, but it was my first time and I 'm not sure I will be returning. Maybe if there's nothing open and I don't want McDonald's. read more

My mom used to go here as a child and has taken me here since I was little as well. We LOVE the cheese fries and the BBQ chicken. The employees go above and beyond to make the cheese fries great by putting multiple layers of fries and cheese rather than just throwing some cheese on top. We love this place and will continue the tradition of driving out an hour just to eat here with our families :). read more
